Hi loverbwoy havent been online much this season, now wheres the katakata? the 1st statement is pretty straight forward, I couldnt blame those who dealt the beatings because I could understand what many of those folks wouldve gone through to get to abuja that day but as much as i felt aggrieved I didnt as much as lay a hand on those fellows. They were been taken to the EFCC where majority believed justice would most likely be served before the police took control of the situation due to those uncontrolled tempers because people were slapping, smacking, kicking, wielding clubs and all sorts. Imagine 50+ people beating down on 1 person, and then in say 24 hrs he's probably walking the streets a free man, then what use was the beating?

Business › Re: Business Ideas by 1forall: 11:39pm On Dec 27, 2006
It depends on what u mean by 'standard', cos therere several standards. Leaving out the space you would spend depending on your taste, clippers, chairs, mirrors, sterilisers, generator, A/C, sound system/TV, other furniture etc, um, are u serious?

Its obvious the guy doesnt live in naija angelz. Theres a way those comedians tell household jokes and they still sound hilarious but I think its harder to do so electronically.

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Consulting Capable Fraud by 1forall: 1:41pm On Dec 18, 2006
Kilombo, EFCC was not involved in anyway, someone claimed to have called them but it was just an elderly man that showed up with 2 policemen, and they couldnt control the situation because of the crowd.

When I eventually saw those guys, I wonder how the people in front couldnt tell immediately, I mean, those guys looked like they lived below the poverty line! They must have planned the whole thing under the influence of some drugs because for them to have thought they could pull off such a thing is ridiculous.

Now for the lesson: Jungle justice is no justice - Those guys should not have been beaten and stripped naked like that on the way to EFCC, that gave the police good reason to 'save' them. Though it was a callous thing to do - calling youth nationwide to abuja to be scammed (I heard some folks lost their lives in an accident, and I really can't blame those who beat them up), justice wouldnt get served through naija police. I had hoped for a situation where those guys would end up serving jail terms but now their 'oga' would eventually settle the police and they would go free.

Graduates, please lets show our intellect in the handle issues like this in future.

Thanks, any rejoinders?

Hello landers, please post your experiences here for us all to share, I was there as well and ALL my skepticisms were confirmed. It was a scam from ALL the indications. Our aptitude should easily discern these scam arrangements. Job hunting shouldnt becloud our sense of judgement, we ought to be more objective and less sentimental when considering stuff like this henceforth.

Career › Re: Should I Work For No Salary Because I Need Experience? by 1forall(mod): 7:44am On Dec 10, 2006
It depends on you pal, if you really need the experience it may not be a bad idea cos youre going to make contacts while you work which would help expand your network and who knows, you could land a good deal. Also if the job is something you love doing, you may not really mind initially. The downside with me is if youre a graduate, I believe you need to be rewarded for your effort, no matter what. Its a shame that the situation of our nation can make a graduate consider such tasking work conditions.
Bottom line - dont take the job if you dont have a passion for it.

Wish you the best.

Car Talk › Re: How Reliable Are BMW Cars? by 1forall: 4:58pm On Dec 04, 2006
Hey all,
Its all been said in here but I love BMs too and couldnt resist dropping a line, or two.
BMWs are lovely, beautiful to drive hi-tech machines, you need to drive one for a while to appreciate that. If I lived where there were good roads, I'd consider no other car. The suspension tech is too detailed for our nigerian roads. Shame.
You need to love the car to own it despite that, or have extra cash to dispose towards car maintenance.
So,

make up your mind bro'

The whole arrangement seems phoney, how come people who dont remember applying got invited? Check other threads on this consulting capable topic, there are more than enough.

My suspicions are raised when I go through their website and notice I can't find a name, address or phone number. Their 'contact us' link gives back the website and email address which we all know already. I have never seen a proper organization's website that would lack all that information, don't they want to be known? Also, the website is too plain for the way they sound in their emails to us, even me can design something better.

Venue: Government Secondary School on Festival Road?
Think about this, why only Abuja? The fellow who observed that the PDP national convention is scheduled for the same day has been most helpful.

Landers, look shocked before you leap!
Business › Re: Your Bank Might Be Defrauding You? by 1forall: 6:54pm On Dec 02, 2006
Hello all, this happened to me just yesterday at UBA (former STB). I was charged N5/N1000 for paying into my own account at another branch! It happened to be somebody's money which I was just keeping for him and I was charged same for withdrawing it (from the same branch I paid into), I ended up losing N9000.

What manner of bank charges you for paying into a savings account?
Isnt there some regulatory body that we can report these sharp practices to for redress?
So much for reforms in the banking sector!

Hello all, will you embark on a trip that is sure to cost you at least N10,000 without knowing who youre going to see in this day nigeria? I got the IV too and Ive noticed that several Nairaland users got it also, and the variety of disciplines studied is wide meen.

I suggest we all who have received invitations reply to the sending address with copies of our IVs asking for more information about the consultants/client(s)/vacancies because their website is not very informative really and I don't think there should be secrecy since theyre inviting so many people.

Thats how we received IVs from Intercontinental and the test ended a disaster. Did u hear of the ecobank test lately too? I live in Lagos and the thought of going all the way to abuja for a test being held by a company that refuses to give more information is not comforting. At least Intercontinental had centers over the country. I asked someone I know who says his house is not far from Garki and he doesnt know what/where GSS is so, lets act like the smart graduates we are and ask for information. Its our right!

If theyre sponsored by a company that can afford to reimburse successful applicants only then maybe they should be easily disposed to conducting their test in Lagos since there will definitely be more applicants resident in Lagos (we all know Lagos na baba for population). But they sound genuine and so they shouldnt resist giving more info if they have nothing to hide, Abuja is far o!
