God of the gaps is a nonsense theory because God want us to learn how this world works. He created man to "dominate the earth and his environment" according to Genesis. Man can't dominate his environment if man doesn't learn all there is to learn about his environment and master the elements, can he? So that theory does not do it for me.

I'll answer your logical question with another logical question and not sentiments. If forces like gravity exist, why did it wait for long to reveal itself until Sir Isaac Newton discovered it?

Why did the secret of space-time wait so long until Einstein discover it?

Why are so many things hidden in nature until scientist work hard to discover it?

The answers and knowledge of the universe will not fall at your feet, same with God.

Effort is required to gain knowledge about anything, and like science will tell you; come at everything with an OPEN MIND and you will LEARN A THING or TWO, or SOMETHING ENTIRELY NEW.

This is what Proverbs 2:4,5 teaches, put in the effort to learn about God and you will see that God is close to you, James 4:8

See here, God doesn't know the choices we are going to make. He only knows the result of whatever choices we make. That's what the Omniscient attribute of God entail.

We can see a clear picture of this when God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to Him. When Abraham yielded, God said, "Now I know that you truly love me". This shows that God did not know beforehand that Abraham would obey Him.



Your problem here is that you're attributing to God what he didn't claim to have. Know God first before you think you can say anything about His personality and attributes.

That's kinda the whole point of the bible.
On our own strength, none of us can ever meetup to the standard of what it means to be truly good. Sooner or later, we all fail horribly, fall short and left to our own vices, we would choose death.
Hence the need for a saviour...Someone who would do what none of us can do and stand in the gap in our stead. That person was God himself, in the person of Jesus.

So basically, our righteousness is not based on what we can do but in trusting in what God himself has done.

There's a lot more nuance to it, but that's the biblical story in a nutshell.
