If we could have done to white people what white people did to us, and if they had resources we wanted, we quite certainly would have done the same. Just as well, If we were not so weak and technologically backward, we would have beat them upon them attempting what they did. But we were chucking spears while they were shooting bullets. To the victor went the spoils. Hard fact is: Stay mad or get better.
But we have still refused to get better. Unwise.

If you play video games, Civilization 6 is a good one to reference. They won the game. We didn't advance in our defense tree fast enough because we prioritized other less crucial and useless things while the rest of the world was moving forward.

This same tendency to not prioritize the right things as a wider racial pattern is what has continued till this day. Call it what you want but if the issue isn't a lack of intelligence, It is definitely a lack of wisdom.... and that is far worse.

Yet you wonder why other communities see you a certain way. You cannot create a respectable community in the eyes of others if you cannot even show accountability amongst your community.

Good and interesting points you raise. I agree with nearly all you posted and I always have these discussions with by AA friends. I always tell them that when you are confronted by the police, the first aim should be to stay alive. Therefore, the onus is on you to not aggravate the situation. This is wisdom and everyone needs to imbibe it. You may try your best not to aggravate the situation but still get gunned down, but at least you stood a better chance tempering things down than the alternative.

But just to play devil's advocate a little. Part of the reason AAs react like that to the police may be because of the frustrations they have had to deal with historically in the hands of the cops in their own country. Just like you, I believe there are good cops and bad racist cops and these guys have been on the receiving end of bad racist cops for centuries. You and I may be able to handle the situation better because we are immigrants so such injustice may be easier to stomach when you know you are not really from the place. By not being from the place I mean we are either 1st or 2nd generation immigrants. It may be more painful for them to stomach this being that the US is their land and they have a history of being treated like 2nd class citizens. This frustration could becloud good judgement and lead to the person not handling a situation with the police with wisdom. Still, I understand what you mean by the way you handle an issue could stave-off escalation and you do not want to give the police or anyone with a gun for that matter a reason to shoot you. I always say even if a 3 year old toddler comes with a gun and tells me to kneel down, I will obey him. I will not take him forgranted because he is a 3 year old. I will follow all his instructions because I am trying to get out alive from that situation. Now if I have my gun with me, it is a different thing but me without my gun vs a 3year old with one, the odds are stacked against me unfortunately. Recognizing this is wisdom.

In summary, when you feel that the system is against you because there was a time it really was, that could potentially becloud your judgement in a stand-off with the police because you think you are being witch-hunted. What do you think about this?

Whenever police stop me, I don't just reach for things in my car either. When they ask me for something I tell them calmly, "I'm going to grab my wallet/documents/wuteva from xyz. Is that okay?". This is a long post but read it to the end completely to comprehend what you are no doubt already itching to respond to.

Firstly, I never said there were no racist police. They can see me how they want. But what I will never give them is ammunition to act a certain way against me. They use easy psych tricks to get you riled up so you can respond a certain way and so they have ammunition to do their evil. The work to weed these guys out is ongoing. National and global pressures have been put on the US to see that changed.

The days of police just going to you and beating/shooting you just because you are black are no more because they know they won't get away with it. Kudos to BA for enforcing that progress in american society. But they might if you have given them ammunition. Racist cops are like demons in that way. If they Forget themselves and cause you emotional distress by arresting you falsely, you can sue and make them bleed from their pocket... As long as you do not do anything stupid while they are harassing you, which BA typically tend to do. BA also do not typically believe they can sue police for reckless behavior sure to the blending in their mind if the past and the present. Now moving on...

The 2 cases you bring up, upon analysis, you see where the individual gave ammunition for a racist cop to do what they did.
I know the usual statement is "well white people do worse and they don't get shot/" and I totally agree. A good example is the Capitol riots. That was large scale. But beyond that, there are white people who do get shot by police. They just don't make national news. It all depends on the officers involved and their individual biases...but none of their biases matter if you do not provide them any ammunition.

Let's put white people aside for a second and look at the other minority groups. Have you ever wondered why even they pull back from you?
It is not because they hate you. It is because the widely accepted way of thinking within your community goes against sound logical assessment. Now put aside your feels and let's look at some of these cases whiles considering ALL aspects of the cases, not just what our feels want to latch onto to validate our own biases. This is not a right wrong thing. This is just to lay all the bits out and see issues from all sides and put our solipsism away for a moment.

The Black Army officer:
It was disrespectful what they did to him.
And the aggressive police deserved to lose his job as he did. In Naija, those policemen would be killed if they did that to a soldier.

Where the army officer gave them ammunition though was...along with the tags issue...continuing to drive for 1.5miles (~2.4KM), with police behind him signalling him to pull over, in a black SUV with tinted windows, at night. It was not "just over some tags" as you earlier stated. That would be you being intellectually disingenuous just to buttress the point you want to make.

All these factors would heighten the blood of any police officer and put them on alert. In the process of being on alert, the stupid cops among them over-do and before they know it, they have shown the world their true self as a racist, heartless bastard who should not be in the job. You could also tell the junior police did not like the way the racist pig was escalating the thing afterwards.
Obviously if it was him taking charge, it would not have been that way, because not all police are racist scum. There are variances in personalities among law enforcement and these scum will be weeded out from leadership to beat cop.

Personally I would have parked, turned on my inner light and handled the interaction... not drive for a whole 1.5 miles with police lights behind me. Everything in me knows that will lead to a problem. But clearly, a lot of BA are lacking that thing inside them that gives them the right moves per situation. I believe that thing is called Wisdom.

How can you have watched that video and tell me the police was in the wrong?
This post is already getting too long. Knowing BA, I know many did not actually watch the video and just jumped on the bandwagon.
I will post the video of what happened again which shows her clearly about to stab another girl with the knife. She would not have been shot if she was just fighting with the girl. When a knife is involved, that is lethal assault! We can talk again after you watch it.

A lesson in wisdom: When the police get on the scene, your beef/drama does not matter. STOP and continue later. You are NOT going to stab someone when police is there telling you to stop/get down. It is unfortunate what happened, but anyone who is a lethal threat to ANOTHER person will be stopped lethally. It irks me that you people have made it a "racist" thing...ignoring the fact that a black life was also on the line that was saved by the police.

Ata means "outside" in Yoruba.
Akata simple refers to one who has been so far away that is now an outsider.
Same way an indian americans is called a "Desi".

The name itself is not offensive. It is entirely possible to have different meanings in both yoruba and igbo land as they ARE 2 different languages and cultures.

Our cousins are angry at akata, but are okay with nigger(what racist white people named them). Priorities
The name is not the problem, the observations of culture and behavior is where it's at.

The good book says "A soft tongue turneth away wrath". This is not merely a flesh and blood thing.
We are wise and know how to treat authority figures with respect. You lot? Not so much!

The same attitudes mentioned in this thread about the majority of you, are the same attitudes that typically lead to you catching LEO bullets and then complaining afterwards. If you hear a Nigerian in the states getting killed by police, it would be the type of Nigerian who comes to the US and starts acting like your people, hoping to feel among.

I have been stopped by white cops and even the few that I could tell were looking for a reason to hate me, became so pacified by the time I had shown them respect and maintained an aura of lightness through out the interaction. And we are already making a name for ourselves because I had a cop come over to me once with an attitude. Just from him hearing my voice/accent and my warm reception of him, he knew this was not "the usual nigger" and he dropped his guard and elevated his vibes to match my level of peace and tranquility.

Some of you have this spirit you carry around that subconsciously makes you act/speak in ways that unsettle and rile up others around you...confirming their biases. Only deliverance and therapy can free you of it.
A stop is a tense situation. Keep that in mind and understand that the person wearing uniform is as nervous as you, even though they might not show it. Also, LISTEN when police is asking you to do basic things.

The recent one was one large teenage black girl who got gunned down by police split second before she could stab another black girl...In police presence...after police yelled multiple times that she stop. Of-course your people started making all that BLM noise again DESPITE the fact that the cop saved the other black female from being stabbed by taking out the black female aggressor. The man is a hero in my book, but emotional folk who lack sense will disagree.

No respect for order, law enforcement and common sense. You feel your "nigga moments" supersedes all ramifications for your actions.
We don't have these problem when in your country as it exists today. If you see us shouting BLM with you, it's just because we are supporting you. A good number of you would not survive an encounter with a Nigerian police officer (olokpa) with your attitude and arrogance. We grew up with respect for authority, and so we know how to handle people wisely.

Also, Black lives matter movement being celebrated around the world is the world supporting BA, not necessarily the other way round.
The world witnessed the murder of a BA man and came together to support a movement so such doesn't happen again with the usual impunity. This pressure contributed to governmental actions taken to better the situation. The accurate way to look at that is that the world helped YOU. Another reason for you to have more humility before making some of these claims of global black saviorship.

She said BA saved black communities around the world. That was what I said was false and arrogant. America is not the world. It is but a single region in said world. Americans always seem to forget this.

BA did strive for equality in America, and I love and respect them for that. But don't start claiming world savior for black people across the whole world out of some unbacked arrogance. Various black people around the world fought for their own freedoms, independent of BA efforts.
