Thanks,I might need to work with my Mechanical Engineering degree there, the uk Msc is Petroleum. The oil and gas industry is not thriving so well.I felt they might need it to be assessed if I intend to work with the Mech Eng degree.thank you once more.
Why don't you just evaluate this Msc for now to enter the Express Entry pool first?

IMO, you can assess the degree later if necessary.

Please, is there anyone in the house whose NOC is 0821 (Managers in agriculture) or who knows somebody who did? I want to know if someone with a degree that is not related to Agriculture but who has managed a poultry farm for about 10 years can make headway if he/she selects the NOC code.

Employment requirements
Extensive farming experience, obtained as a farm supervisor or specialized crop or livestock worker or by working on a farm, is usually required.
A university degree or college diploma in agricultural management or other field related to crop or livestock production may be required.

I know this message was for Zandora, but think I can help base on my experience here. The certifications I will recommend are csc, cfp, mutual funds, etc. You can initiate the process from naija, get your course materials, start studying and write the exam when you land. Check out www.csi.ca.
I appreciate the fact that you volunteered the information. God bless!

@Gracefulchild

I think you should take the advice of the poster above me.

My wife is a Chartered Accountant. She submitted EOIs for both 189 and 190 subclasses since Oct/Nov last year with 65 and 70 points respectively. Up till now, no show.

Meanwhile, she got ITA under Canadian Express Entry within a short time after evaluating her Masters coupled with an improved IELTS result.

With the profile you described above, you may be better off pursuing Canadian PR.

Thanks for sharing. It has been said that Canadian employers value Canadian qualifications and certifications.

Once PPR lands, are there certifications that one can initiate from here before landing? What certifications would you recommend for a person whose experience is in banking?
zandora, you skipped this. Please take a look at this question.

With the current trend in student visa processing from Nigeria, i would agree that age might make it a bit tight to get a Study Permit from Nigeria. A friend about that age (45) got a study permit in 2014. Nevertheless, if that would be the best and only option, i will give it a try.

That being said, i trust you bro that you have made all your research and they are on point.

If i were the one, i would send one of the kids (probably the older one, 16) to study instead. Then, the parents can apply to visit him/her if necessary. After the child's schooling, he/she process and get PR. The child can then apply for the parents' PR.

Cheers!
Thanks boss. Will discuss the options with them.

Ontario Funding Social Housing Repairs and Retrofits in Toronto

Province Investing More Than $600 Million in Affordable Housing Across the City

May 9, 2017 9:15 A.M.
Ministry of Housing

Ontario is investing more than $600 million dollars over the next three years in affordable and sustainable housing in Toronto, including millions more for repairs and retrofits to social housing buildings.

Housing Minister Chris Ballard was at 26 Grenville Street — provincial land that will be unlocked to build new affordable rental units — to highlight investments that the province is making.

In 2016-17, Ontario is contributing $42.9 million to the City of Toronto for repairs and retrofits to 26 social housing buildings, with all funds committed by March 31, 2017 and repairs to be completed by March 31, 2018. This investment will allow for the installation of energy-efficient boilers, windows, and lighting as well as the insulation of outer walls and mechanical systems.

These investments are part of Ontario's Social Housing Apartment Retrofit Program (SHARP). The program is part of Ontario's plan to fight climate change by investing proceeds from its carbon market into actions that help households and businesses reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save money on energy costs.

Over the next three years, the city will receive more than $130 million in additional funding for social housing repairs through the program.

The province is also:

Investing $340 million over the next three years for homelessness prevention to help Toronto's most vulnerable residents
Investing $130 million over the next three years to build and expand affordable housing options for people in Toronto
As part of Ontario's Fair Housing Plan, unlocking provincial land worth up to $100 million to build new affordable rental units in the city, with pilots at 27 Grosvenor Street and 26 Grenville Street in Toronto.
Ensuring everyone in Ontario has a safe and affordable place to call home is part of our plan to create jobs, grow our economy and help people in their everyday lives.

Quick Facts

Over the next three years, Ontario will invest $2 billion dollars in affordable and sustainable housing across the province.
Leveraging surplus provincial lands builds on an agreement reached previously with the City of Toronto to ensure a minimum of 20 per cent of residential units within the West Don Lands are available for affordable rental, with an additional 5 per cent of units for affordable ownership. The West Don Lands is one of the sites in Toronto being considered for the pilot.
By establishing a program to dispose of surplus provincial land sites at below market value, the province will create a mechanism to leverage new, permanent, sustainable, and affordable housing units as part of the development of those lands. The province will work with municipalities, the housing sector, and other interested parties to confirm the pilot sites and final program design.
A 2012 Deutsche Bank study [PDF] found that every $1 million invested in energy efficiency-related retrofits in multi-family affordable housing buildings generated between $1.3 million and $3.9 million in energy savings, improving both the sustainability of those buildings and the quality of life of their residents.

Yes it is possible to apply for SOWP.
I have a family friend who has decided to relocate to either Canada or Australia but has some obvious constraints. The responses that I got on the Australian thread suggests that the options available for him are not feasible.

He is 52 years; apparently, he is not qualified for PR but the wife is 45 meaning she has just 5 years to secure ITA and obtain PR but obviously, age is no longer on her side to attain the required CRS score. They have 2 kids aged 16 and 15 respectively.

I have done some research on Entrepreneur/Self-Employed visa but the net asset requirements are on the high side for a middle-class family (about CAD$ 300,000 and above). Due to this, I wanted to suggest study route (Masters) for the wife so that she can later apply for Spousal Open Work Permit for her husband. She has B.A English and 10 years teaching experience as at date.

However, someone noted that it may be difficult for her to obtain a study permit for a Masters program at age 45, talk less of SOWP.

What do you think please? Practical insights would be appreciated.

Just checked now, it is real. Imagine, I bought mine $204.57 plus shipping though on presale. Why did they drop the prices now and not earlier? angry

I don't think it is a good idea to buy "presell" items anymore. Used to think that presale items should be cheaper...what do you guys think?

Hi Zandora,

Thank you for the encouragement.

Please I need your advice concerning paying the application fee when submitting the ITA. All my payment attempts have been failing since two weeks now. I have called my bank but they confirmed that nothing is wrong with the card.

@MummyJgirls have you submitted your application yet? Did your payment go through?

@dupyshoo, @Babachi, @40manlappy Please, your contributions are all welcome.
Have you tried Chinnie4Jesus's suggestion? It could be that your account balance is not sufficient to consummate the transaction. Please provide feedback.
