what the benchmarks you refer to will test are the S3 4 CORES VS THE 4 S4 CORES seeing that benchmarks aim to put the processors under stress.

the octa design never said 8 cores will work at the same time and at the same rate, and it will be remarkably foolish to put 8 cores of equal power clocked at 1.9 ghz [/b]in a mobile device with such a meagre battery.

give the people who build these phones some credit, the possess an IQ light years ahead of yours.





and even worse, is that you keep citing benchmarks. No sensible human in tech cites benchmarks as [b]basis for discrediting tech.
This has been flogged to death. benchmarks are not indicative of what a device can do in actual sense. there are too many variables and too many different standards.


1. you have not shown us these benchmarks. no link no nothing.

2. Which suite of applications was run for the benchmarks? do you have any idea how many different types and variants of benchmarks are available?

3. Even worse is how you claim a 4 core EXYNOS made by samsung clocked at 1.5 GHZ will outpace a 4 core EXYNOS made by the same samsung clocked at 1.9GHZ.

do you know anything technical about this in any way at all? you mean the engineers have been building a worse processor?

If this was VS another processor variant like snapdragon one can understand.




Ironically, when i used to own a Xperia X10, i tweaked and ran benchmarks on it that had higher scores than a S2. u think i was daft enough to claim the S2 was not better than the X10?

compare Flagships of the same generation. the Iphone 5 competed with the S3.

the S4 should be compared with the Iphone 5S


and even that comparison is flawed. 6 months is a loooong time in technology. As a matter of fact, each successive flagship that is released will be essentially better than the competition. simply because the latter phone has clear targets to surpass.

when one has 1 Gb ram, you know that you can better it in that department by using 1.5 gb ram. no brainer

I guess u have to download the jdownloader plugin and configure it. it should be in the programs addon


haven't done jdownloader in about two years. cant really remember the setup. configuring it to scrape and download shouldn't be too hard.

maybe over the easter I will try for reference if I can stay unoccupied and sober long enough that is.


but I'm guessing the best setup will be to have xbmc installed on a full fledged os instead of a standalone. standalone usually require terminal-fu

Lord_Reed: Since you like the Note 2 you could check out the Galaxy Grand. Its a dual core, 1GB ram 5in phone with similar design to the Note 2 and costs 60k. You could also consider the Galaxy S (40k), Galaxy S3 mini(50k) or the HTC Desire V(50k). However considering the trouble my friend who bought the Desire V is going through I'd not really recommend HTC products. He is having a hard time with the screen which due to either the minor crack on it or falling is no longer functioning properly. Replacing it is not feasible because he can't get the spare. Samsung have good representation here and most of their products are officially launched for Nigeria.

The OG Note is better than the grand, galaxy s, the HTC and the s3mini.

with a bit of scouting I'm pretty sure u can get a refurb note 2 or S3. prices are now dropping.

the OG note brand new is going for that range too.


personally I'd recommend u raise the dough and get the note 2. that's the most future proof phone out there now. it will take more than 2 years to make it really obsolete

How is canonical meant to progress when for instance they propose Unity Desktop and the community wails and moans and "demands" that the old Gnome 2.0 should continue being the de-facto standard? AT the time they started, they built it on the same Gnome freedesktop specs, it performed poorly. Commits upstream to solve the issues were rejected by Gnome Devs apparently because they were "too ubuntu-specific"

How can canonical achieve its dreams when its commits on projects to the "upstream" are routinely rejected simply because the "geeks that be" don’t like it or think it does not follow their vision?

if Canonical had followed the "community vision", we would still be like Xubuntu.

There is a small tiny crack in the wall for new entrants in the mainstream now. Which other Linux project is looking to get in? Convergence, mainstream users, phones, tablets, Tv etc etc. which other Linux project looks like its having any vision for it?

Kubuntu announced their plasma active for mobile about 2 years ago or more, i still haven’t seen it ever. I have flashed an alpha build of Ubuntu touch on my device already.

samsung demoed some concept flexible OLED devices in this video. stunning.

I'm sure by the time they start to release them, we will be told how "gimmicky" they are and how some other OEMs are better.

by the time these devices come out, either Google stop Samsung from using android anymore, or they as well accept that no other OEM will be alive on android.

For all the talk of advertising, the distance between Samsung and other android oems when it comes to hardware innovation is massive.

apple used to have an edge, but they need a big release quickly or will lose market massively by next year.


for example only Motorola has better batteries. HTC and co are still releasing devices with LCD screens. and truth is even though we say the exynos octacore and co processors are a but gimmicky, they r d best performance wise out there.. and will keep improving.

i dont think either of this things have anything to do with droidwall.

for the first one, disabling apps from autostarting, there are lots and lots of apps that can do this.

some are dedicated to this, some have lots of other functions.

some are free, some are paid apps.

simply type "autostart" in the search box in google play and pick any.

i really cant recommend any, because i don't recommend apps i dont use!

JUST MAKE SURE YOU DONT USE A TASK MANAGER (those are harmful)



for number 2

simply go into your play store, press the menu button and tap "My Apps" , slide to the all apps section and select each app

right there you will see a small tick box that says "Allow automatic updating" untick the box if ticked.

do this for every app u have, chikena. na u go dey talk wen dem go update noni
