And the way you buy all those cock and bull stories of deities outside your belief, see you hitting Agnosticism soon... Take a bet grin
I highly doubt it grin

It just irks me how people can turn to athiesm without exploring the full expanse of christianity. they read the bible and thats it. they never go further, hence thier limited knowledge and sometimes lame postulations. Same so called christians enter the real world and see real problems and cos the bible 'apparently' doesnt have the answer they debunk christianity in its entirety and turn to atheism! Its sad!

But then even Jesus, the Word of God said "Narrow is the way that leads to Salvation!"

Hiswordxray can help me with the location of that quote wink

Anyone can create a meme bro, it doesnt negate the fact that when we say ALMIGHTY GOD we all know we mean the GOD of the Christians while when we say Almighty Allah it connotes islam! I'm very usre they dont write "Praise God" in thier letters but "Priase Allah" and we all know which religion is being referred to.

Oh! Now I get it!

You got it all wrong fam. I already know "it" doesn't exist. I'm only trying to help people like you UNDERSTAND "it" doesn't.

I only wonder why people spend their whole lives in fear of a product of their own imagination.

"It" isn't powerful. Your imagination is what's powerful and I'm only lending a helping hand to aid you channel your imagination into more rational thinking
Obviously you don't get it!

Why are trying so desperately hard to help people 'like' me? Did we ask for your help? Are u getting paid in anyway? Or are u really hoping that in your attempts to dismiss these beliefs you will indirectly reassure yourself that your disbelief is valid? cheesy

As per the bolded you will continue to wonder and it will continue to be a source of perplexion to you until u realise what you have been missing! I know you say you are missing nothing... And yet you can't stop wondering what millions of people around the world see in this non existent thing that they love so much.

Beautiful joke tho. . .

I said i expected you to have known basic history to know that religions being propagated has nothing to do with potency of any deity and you still do not comprehend and talk about underestimating christians. . In fact i don't, i have disagreed with an atheist that religion impairs intelligence but for someone to make such a childish assertion like the potency of a deity determines the spread of its religion makes me think in the regard of agreeing with those other atheists…

. . .Meanwhile i would like to see you in the Science Discussion thread, lets see how scientifically inclined you are, bring all your brains along while at it because you sure will need it. wink https://www.nairaland.com/2391945/sciences-discussion-thread
And with all you said above you still can't explain why eleven fishermen and their illiterate followers conquered the whole of Rome! grin

Anything you cant explain you dismiss as coincidence. Anything that shakes your precious scientific ideals you quickly wave away as inconsequential. Becasue you dare not believe that there are some things you cannot explain, some things the are beyond your precious scientific knowledge!

No.
The truth is that you undersetimate chirstians and have probably never met an adherent Christian scientist.

I won't blame you so.much though. The average modern Christian knows little of their own religion , relegating the powers of the Almighty God to a few pages in a summarised book called the bible that even some of its authors wrote wasn't complete smiley

Human have always been perplexed by the concept of creation and have always been known to be gullible. I hope you realise that not EVERY muslim is into killing or bombing. Afterall, I can recall a certain pastor who commands his followers to drink fuel, eat grass, suck his dick, burn themselves etc. Is it then safe to say all christians are dumb?
Yes I do sound excited don't I grin

E dey pain you? grin

What kind of worshipper would I be if I wasn't excited about my own God? kiss

As per your second paragraph what has it for to do with what we were saying?

I have Muslim friends as well, good guys called kebiru and hassan! And they are one of the nicest people I know and adherent Muslims to the core! Yet even they are beginning to doubt their religion following all the bloodshed it has left in its wake the past few decades! Sure there will always be wolves among the sheep but surely you will agree with me that Islam needs a major overhaul in terms of its attitude to violence!

You know na, the nitty griity
Would you be willing to step out of the bible with me?
Never mind, some examples can even be sited from the Bible.
Rememeber that funny part of revelations when God was looking for someone who would die for humanity? I'm not good at quoting bible but I can search it out if you insist.
All the heavenly host refused to take on the Job. Those heavenly host were not angels alone but consisted of 'principalities and powers in high places', the 'movers and shakers of the great beyond!' When the Word of God (Jesus) came forward to accept the challenge there was a bit of discussion. He was asked if he realised what opening the scroll entailed and he said yes. It required experiencing death, he said he was aware. And so for agreeing to do this he was given a name above every other name, that at the name of Jesus every knee (principality/power) must bow!

There is a 'legend' about Pan (Pan was a pagan god in fact legend had it that he was an embodiment of all the gods on earth) that says he died the moment Jesus Christ was born to signify Christ's supremacy. Google it up bro! Its not only the bible you should read!(But kindly avoid the seven books of moses. My hand no dey that oneone lipsrsealed)

Correction, Christians Call him Yahweh/Jehovah. . .God is a noun that can be used to depict these deities in a general way, it is not a name of any deity.

Even Allah is the arabic word for god, arabic christians still use the word (allah) to refer to yahweh
Correction, Everyone knows who is referred to when God is used even in the middle of a sentence. There are many gods. Gods abound. But God almighty is the only God!

Christianity Etc › Re: God Vs Religion by 5minsmadness:

why is it that you use a small 'g' for a God you don't believe in?
Its a trick pseudo atheists use grin
They spell God with small letter g (god) so that if thy should ever convert back to Christianity they can say they were not referring to the God but small god. One of them actually told me this privately cheesy He is doubtful about his faith but can't let go completely so he comes online here to diliberately antagonise the body of Christ but he carefully uses god instead of god. First reason is to deliberately piss off Christians who believe God should be respected with capital letter G and secondly so if he ever blasphemes or commits the unforgivable sin he can always say he meant small god not big God.

That's what many of them do now cos in reality they are afraid of God but of course they will want to deny it now grin
Christianity Etc › Re: God Vs Religion by 5minsmadness:
johnydon22:
Hhmmm 5minsmadness i must say i expected better and this comment from you fell far below expectations, First Christianity was propagated in Europe because of the roman empire and crusades, it reached africa through the missionaries.

Islam was propagated through many of Muhammed conquest, Jihad and some Islamic scholars as in the case of most African society as a result of Mali empire adopting islam.

Following your analogy we can the conclude that since islam is the most widely practised religion in African with 47%, muslims can then conclude Allah is greater than christian god.

Since researches have shown there will be a relative decline in Christianity and a boost in islam (mostly due to polygamy tho) Muslims can then conclude Allah has toppled the christian god in power and potency since they now possess the upper hand in populations.

You also forgot many ancient religions have once being widely practised all over the globe but now has slipped down the timeline of history as myth and many still linger but in a small scale. . .we could then postulate those ancient god concepts were the powerful and reigning ones then.

I expected you to know propagation of religion has nothing to do with the potency of any deity but alas i was wrong apparently

Why do people always say they expected better from me, abi I dey thrill u guys with my sense hey? cheesy cheesy

By whatever means Christianity was propagated the important thing is that it was propagated. If Zeus wanted to conquer the world he should have done it through the roman empire but he didn't did he? cheesy

It was God who took the holy roman empire by the balls through a few ragedy illiterate men and conquered a whole Jupiter and his many deities. Odd eh? The wisdom of God seems like foolishness unto menmen wink

Islam simply rode on the back of Christianity and conquered through extreme violence, something they still do till today. Oh yes, you will cite examples of the crusade wars to show Christians can exhibit violence also but this as usually done in self defence and not the blatant disregard for life islam so shamelessly exhibits.
One also wonders if the devil, after discovering God's ultimate plan through the resurrection of His son Jesus Christ a tad too late, did decide to set up a pseudo religion to compete with God's religion. A religion of peace even though their works speak otherwise grin

Kindly mention any world religon other than Christianity and Islam through the ages! Even Judaism didn't have as much wide spread influence as chrisitianity does!

Face it. Christianity is an enigma, conquering the world through illiterate rageddy unlikely men and women who alone could do nothing but with God could not be stopped!

The bible publishers will lose the case. The bible will be eventually outlawed or relegated to myth and forbidden in public places. Hatred for Christianity will increase and those who practise it will be publicly ridiculed(already happening). It has been foretold already.

If the other gods were so powerful then they should have allowed their worshippers to dominate the world. So far Christianity is the only religion that conquered the world despite all odds so their God must be a powerful one.

Christianity Etc › Re: Is The NIV Version Of The Holy Bible Anti-Christ? by 5minsmadness: 9:56am On Jul 12, 2015
christaddicted:
THE NIV WAHALA!

I have had to address privately questions bordering on the NIV and the name of Jesus. Some of the inquiries are through my inbox while others are direct.

I didn't consider it worth troubling myself about but since the faith of many is being rattled I'm obligated to talk. FIRST, let me say that I've used NIV all my life and find it very good. I also find it worrisome that those calling it names demand that it be torn or burnt. NEXT, let me say that the Bible does not warn only against removals from but also additions to the Bible. Having said that, the critics have not proven to us that the KJV with which they judge the other versions is not an addition to the word of God.

THIRD, the criticisms assume the KJV is the original bible. That is not so. The KJV like the NIV and other versions, is a translation from the original manuscripts which are in Hebrew, Greek and aramaic. To verify the accuracy of any version therefore will require comparison with the original manuscripts and not other versions. To do this one has to not only be versatile with the original languages but also the science of translation known as TEXTUAL CRITICISM.

I happen to be introduced to elementary knowledge of textual criticism while doing a masters degree in theology at the evangel theological seminary Jos. I can tell you that I've not yet found any reason to rate the NIV anything less than the best scholarly work on translation of the bible.

I know that ZONDERVAN is nothing but a printing press. It is not responsible for the translation of the Bible. It also has published many other sound Christian literature as well as many ungodly ones. NIV was a work done in 1964/65. From the claims of the critics Zondervan was bought over in 1998, 34yrs later. How can that nullify the accuracy of the NIV. AGAIN, I observed that all the "missing" texts are footnoted by the translators.

FINALLY, I have been around for sometime in this race. This is not the first time it's coming. it wont be the last. I think that this is an attack on the Bible. The devil does not want the Bible in the people's language. He fought it at the beginning killing Tyndale and co for translating the bible from the vulgate (the Latin version by Jerome) to English. NIV employed the principle of dynamic equivalent in translation which simplifies the language without losing the force of the truth as in the paraphrases. The KJV is the product of literal translation and is limited to the Masoretic texts of the Bible.

My take is own as versions as you can afford and use the one that best guarantees the understanding of the truths therein.

This is not exhaustive but I hope it can give you peace in these perilous times. God bless you all and keep you blameless until his coming day.

OP Ishilove, I think people who argue the minutiae of every word in the bible probably don't understand how the bible came about.

Many of these things were finally put down on paper after decades or even centuries of being passed on by word of mouth. We all know what happens when stories are passed from person to person by word of mouth.

I believe Christianity is a spiritual affair. The important thing is that u have the spirit of Christ in u. Once that is accomplisned, the exact wording of the bible or any other book becomes of quite secondary importance.

Ishi, forgive me but
