For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.Great topic. I lean towards Calvinism. In short, I consider myself a Calvinist. I agree with the Calvinists and consider their believes on salvation and all related concepts (grace, predestination, freewill, atonement, foreknowledge, e.t.c) to be consistent with the scriptures. |
frosbel: I recently read a testimony from 7 Colombian Youth to whom Jesus gave a divine revelation of Hell. Jesus appeared to them on April 11, 1995 and took them on a tour of hell. While they were there, they saw people who were Christians, but who were damned to Hell for not giving tithes and offerings. Here is an excerpt from the testimony:Well, keep searching,Frosbel. How much easier would it have been if you believe the words," Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life" !!! ![]() |
ijawkid: This is what trinitarians believe in....Where do you place Jesus and the Holy Spirit, are they divine? |
Goshen360: I do NOT judge and if I judge, I judge righteously. One problem people like you have in the body of Christ (I don't mean insult) is that, you "think" everything preached by "famous" evangelist is truth and sound teaching. When we expose or refute such teachings, you simple say we are judging - The reason is that, people like you had been predicted to be among those that CANNOT withstand SOUND doctrines in the last days and that will heap up teachers for themselves to hear what you want to hear, NOT what God wants you to hear. If not so, you wont call this thread judgmental. Please, can you tell us what is judgmental in what I have just said and for people to be aware of his teachings. I don't have problem if he is one of your favourite preachers, what I care about is, we have the mandate as Christians to defend our faith and preserve the truth.Thank you. Like I implied in my post,I do not even know the man. I was goaded by your statement below: ''You are one the best people I ever heard here on Nairaland like many other good people that tells the truth'' and this, in response to rhemaplus' ''Yea its true dat he erred in dat. He also preaches once saved forever saved which is also wrong''. Do you have an idea, tell me if you do, how this doctrine came about? When? Do you have an idea how the converse doctrine (to the effect that a believer can lose salvation)came about? When? Goshen360: Do you know even Satan transform as angel of light? If as powerful as Apostle Paul is, more than all the new age teachers put together will teach and some people called the Bereans will still search the scriptures before they approve his teachings, who the heck you think any preacher of today is that we cannot expose or refute his heresies? The truth of the word of God that I stand to defend is that, GRACE OF GOD IS NOT A LICENSE TO CONTINUE TO SIN. Anyone who teaches or preaches any other Gospel than what the Apostles and Jesus preached, let him/her be accused. I am NOT a denominationist, I am a bible teacher and I prove ALL things by the word of God.Agreed. |
rhemaplus: Yea its true dat he erred in dat. He also preaches once saved forever saved which is also wrong. He emphasizes on revelation but revelation is nt a passive thing. I like him as a person, he is a good teacher, have learnt a lot 4rm him but i'm nt a blind follower. Take a good sieve n get wht u want.''Once saved , always saved'' is not a false doctrine. It was the main substance of the reformers' teachings. Goshen360: I was listening to a known popular Television evangelist by the name of Joseph Prince and guess what, he said "Heaven does not record the sins of believers even though you sin" Am like WHAT! This is a Grace perverted Gospel.I read your post yesterday. Now I am wondering if you were not too swift to judge this man, whoever he is. |
logicboy: The antichrist is another failed doctrine of christians. Christians call leaders who do not follow their doctrine, "antichrist". Antichrist is just another insult that can be used on non-christians or christians who dont follow the mainstream propaganda. You don't get it.There is the anti-christ and they are anti-christs. The anti-christ is yet to be revealed, while we have many anti-christs who we can recognise, by their works. |
Singing: E'er since, by faith, I saw the stream thy flowing wounds supply, redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die. And shall be till I die, and shall be till I die; redeeming love has been my theme, and shall be till I die. |
hisblud: Eternal Security must be the main thing, all the scriptures above you quoted are in the bible but i believe it is taken out of CONTEXT to mean ETERNAL INSECURITY. Thinking through, My Redeemer cannot be a schizoid and therefore this is my conclusion: I would rather believe in Eternal security and ask like paul, in the prayer of the Ephesians that the eyes of my understanding being enlightened to understand the gray "scriptures" than believe in eternal insecurity and have a fear (wrong fear and unbelieving), unloving relationship to God.So true. |
Full Salvation!Full Salvation Lo! The fountain opened wide, streams through every land and nation. From the Savior's wounded side. Full Salvation!Full Salvation Streams an endless crimson tide. 2.Oh, the glorious revelation! See the cleansing current flow, washing stains of condemnation whiter than the driven snow: Full Salvation!Full Salvation! Oh, the rapturous bliss to know. 3.Love's resistless current sweeping. All the regions deep within:thought and wish, and sense keeping Now,and every instant clean! Full Salvation!Full Salvation! From the guilt and power of sin. 4.Life immortal,Christ descending, Lo! My hearts the Spirit's shrine: God and man in oneness blending, Oh, what fellowship is mine! Full Salvation!Full Salvation raised in Christ to life Divine! 5.Care and doubting, gloom and sorrow fear and shame are mine no more; faith knows naught of dark tomorrow, For my Savior goes before: Full Salvation!Full Salvation Full and Free for Evermore!
Amen. Great hymn. You just made me know it, thanks. |
frosbel: No objections !!The latter that you refer to, could they be referred to as 'christians'? 'Saved persons'? For the former, are they saved the whole time? At what point do they 'lose' salvation, 'regain' salvation? I am surprised you do not have objections, do you realise that the bible makes no distinctions(in this passage) as you are trying to do here? This lack of distinction should at least bother you. |
frosbel: Religion of 'peace 'Barbaric religion, fit only for the stone age, perhaps. |
Please drop them here. They helped in no small way to free me from Arminianism - that dangerous doctrine that a believer can lose salvation.I sang this one today in church, what joy was in my heart! Leaning on the everlasting arms 1.What a fellowship, what a joy divine, Leaning on the everlasting arms; What a blessedness, what a peace is mine, Leaning on the everlasting arms. Refrain: Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms; Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms. 2. Oh, how sweet to walk in this pilgrim way, Leaning on the everlasting arms; Oh, how bright the path grows from day to day, Leaning on the everlasting arms. 3. What have I to dread, what have I to fear, Leaning on the everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so near, Leaning on the everlasting arms. |
13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.@Frosbel The above is how the Lord would have us comfort fellow believers, who have lost loved ones, who were believers. Any objections, Frosbel? |
Concerning the extent of Papal dignity, authority, or dominion and infallibility.Blatant blasphemy. |
hisblud: Are this the only scriptures on eternal INSECURITY that you can come up wit? Please add more? ![]() |
cyrexx: 1. you said we should think about this and you didn't leave us anything worth thinking about.Lol. To sum up, you can claim to have ''freewill''. |
mkmyers45: Fear is a pillar of any faith-belief doctrine..Not necessarily so. |
unphilaz: this is if i am the originator of THE salvation. This idea emphasises man's effort against the all complete finished work of the blood. That is their problem. They think Christ merely made it probable to ALL and it is up to everyone to actually save themselves by believing. No special grace needed here, grace is available to all! |
italo: If salvation can't be lost, why was Paul worried about being disqualified? Even though he was "saved" at the time he was writing scripture. You don't believe a christian can be saved in this life and yet believe they can lose salvation? It is a question. |
italo: : If salvation can't be lost, why was Paul worried about being disqualified? Even though he was "saved" at the time he was writing scripture.Sure, he was very worried, in your head! |
italo: Leave them alone. They say their names are in God's book of life and can never be erased regardless of what they do. Leave them alone.Praying? Soliloquizing? ![]() Do you now acknowledge there is such a list? ![]() |
Joagbaje: Yes a christian can't go to hell but It's possible for someone who had been born again before to end up in hell and be damned . That's why the bible says to work out ones salvation.Did Paul then contradict himself when he goes on to say in the same book and chapter: 9 ¶ But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.? ![]() |
frosbel: "But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved." - Hebrews 10:39 ![]() So shocking. That you would use a passage that clearly supports the assertion that, ''salvation cannot be lost'', to prove it can. Tell us who those faithful ones are, ''who believe to the saving of the soul''--Heb. 10:39. |
Image123: "And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. " (Matthew 24:22). ![]() So shocking. That you would use a passage that clearly supports the assertion that, ''salvation cannot be lost'', to prove it can. |
See how Image continually repeats his assertion, ''salvation can be lost'' as though by that, the assertion is proved. |
italo: : If salvation can't be lost, why was Paul worried about being disqualified? Even though he was "saved" at the time he was writing scripture.St. Paul was so uncertain about his salvation , that he wrote the verses below , to make his hearers certain of theirs. ![]() Romans 8 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
italo: If salvation can't be lost, why was Paul worried about being disqualified? Even though he was "saved" at the time he was writing scripture. Why did he always "HOPE" for salvation? How can you be certain, when St. Paul wasn't? St. Paul was so uncertain about his salvation , that he wrote the verses below , to make his hearers certain of theirs. grin grin grin Romans 8 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
bigd4050: @ i.chucka and 5solas...thanks for the support guys. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can see and recognize these truths. They are hard and difficult to understand, and sound harsh, but those that do understand have a deeper relationship with God and are able to live out these truths with more confidence, knowing that God is sovereign and his will is going to be done. Appreciate it guys!I rejoiced when I read your post (the one i.chucka and I quoted), I felt as I feel when I read the works of the reformers. |
bigd4050: If someone ever turns from God, like 5solas (I think it was him, it was a great point) said, God NEVER KNEW THEM. They can "leave faith", but they never really had it to begin with. You can only serve one master. You don't suddenly just switch from serving God to serving flesh. The whole time, the person who departs had some part of their lives that they are unwilling to give up to God, and hold onto that sin. They depart when they longer want to hold up the facade of living righteously. I think about it like this: they were a part of the a church, but then they left the church for a terrible reason...lets say they got corrected on something. If they use some dumb excuse like that to leave, they were never really a part of that church. In bodily presence they were, but not in spirit. Same thing with faith and God.I didn't in anyway infer, please read my post again, that such a person ''turned from God''. |
For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of His Son....and those He predestined,He also called;those He called,He also justified;those He justified,He also glorified.what, then shall we say in response to this?if God is for us,who can be against us?......who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen?it is God justified...Romns8:29-33. I wonder how those who are called, chosen and justified can lose their Salvation. @bigd great write up.
I wonder also. italo: See jamb question! Ok, eternal life means life eternal.Romans 8 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or unclothedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |
Joagbaje: Yes a christian can't go to hell but It's possible for someone who had been born again before to end up in hell and be damned . That's why the bible says to work out ones salvation.I NEVER KNEW you. This does not sound like Christ knew the person at some point in time, does it? ![]() |
frosbel: Amen. But you are sure you will enter it, are you not? Upon what basis? On works? Please tell me. |
