The Nigerian military has explained how the suspected mastermind of the Jos and Zaria bombings was arrested.
The defence headquarters had earlier tweeted that the unnamed suspect was taken into custody in Gombe after organising the two attacks that killed 70 people between Sunday and Tuesday.

The spokesperson for the Army, Sani Usman, has given further details on the arrest:

“Please recall that on Sunday 5th July 2015, suspected Boko Haram terrorists carried out coordinated bomb and gun attacks on worshippers at Ýan Taya mosque, Dillimi Street, off Bauchi Road, Jos where the holy month of Ramadan tafsir was holding, and Shagalinku Restaurant, along Bauchi Road, Jos, Plateau State which led to death of over 48 persons, injuring several other persons and destruction of property.

“Similarly, the terrorists carried out another bomb attack on hapless workers undergoing verification exercise at Sabon Gari Local Government Secretariat, Zaria Kaduna State which resulted in the death of over 25 people including a two-year-old child and destruction of property.

“Consequently, security cordon was established in the general areas especially along Bauchi, Gombe and the North Eastern part of the country by troops of 3 Division and Special Task Force, as well as the Department of State Services. This culminated in the successful arrest of the mastermind of the heinous terrorist acts and two of his accomplices at a checkpoint in Dadin Kowa, Gombe State. The terrorist kingpin and his colleagues who disguised in a trailer while trying to evade checks were fished out by troops of Nigerian Army.

“The arrested terrorists are currently being processed for further action and would soon face the full wrath of the law.

“The general public are hereby please requested to be more vigilant, security conscious and report any suspicious persons, movements, and facilities to the security agencies.”

Governor Rauf Aregbesola has stated that frantic efforts are being made by the state government to pay the salaries of local government workers and primary school teachers by Friday.

Aregbesola who began paying the backlog of salaries owed civil servants this week said that he will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that workers receive their pay.

In post of his Facebook wall he wrote: “LGA workers and primary school teachers would get March and April salaries within the next two days, their outstanding will be two months. Its indeed trying times for us, may God see us through. Osun a dara,” he wrote.

He noted that the salaries of other civil servants and secondary school teachers is yet to be paid. “Further efforts are being made to liquidate all the outstanding salaries of Osun workers. As it stands now state civil servants and secondary schools teachers are owed six months arrears.”

Aregbesola has come under severe attack for failing to pay the salaries of workers, this he blamed on the dwindling federal allocation.

President Muhammadu Buhari has decided to stop
participating in Juma’at prayers at the National
Mosque, Abuja.

Rather, the President will henceforth mostly observe
the Juma’at prayers with other Muslims at the
Presidential Villa Mosque.

This was contained in a statement made available to
journalists on Friday by the Special Adviser to the
President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.
Adesina said Buhari took the decision out of
consideration for the hardships always imposed on
members of the public by road closures during
presidential movements.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari
participated in today’s Juma’at prayer at the
Presidential Villa Mosque.

“President Buhari did so out of consideration for
avoidable hardships imposed on members of the public
by road closures and other security measures which
Presidential movements to the National Mosque
necessitate.

“Accordingly, the President has decided that
henceforth he will mostly observe the Juma’at prayers
with other Muslims at the Presidential Villa Mosque.

“President Buhari will still join the larger Muslim
Community for Friday prayers at the National Mosque
and other mosques in Abuja occasionally.”

Friday was the first time a Juma’at service will be held
inside the Presidential Villa.

All former Muslim Presidents and Vice Presidents have
been taking part in the services at the National
Mosque, Abuja.

Since his inauguration on May 29, Buhari had taken
part in three Jumat services at the National Mosque.
He was in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, last
Friday.

The Friday prayer was led by the State House Chief
Imam, Abdulwaheed Suleiman.
Buhari was joined by aides and other workers in the
villa.

Am a young graduate who has finished service since 2013, don't have a job yet. As at wednesday last week, a pastor of my church who is aware of my plight reffered me to one Mr xx whose "office" is at suite C038, kaduna 1 plaza, trade fair lagos.

I was told that the man operates an agency that links people up to jobs and that there is a vacancy for a store keeper of my age and that I should met him on thursday. On thursday after meeting him, he asked me who linked me, I told him the pastors name, he also told me to pay #3000 for service charge, I was skeptical about it, but I did it. I was handed a letter and told to go to the company which located at number 1 glass road mafoluku, oshodi lagos. It was a nigerian breweries ware house. I was told to meet the HR guy who when I met him, requested for my C.V. And told me that he would get back to me. Since then, I have not heared from any of them.

But then am tempted to think that its a scam, because

1.The job linking stuff sounds too good to be true.

2. When I got to the ware house and asked for the HR guy, the workers said they didn't know any body like that and that I should refer to the next ware house. On my way to the next ware house the HR guy Intercepted me.

3. The 3k I was asked to pay.

But on the other hand am still tempted to believe its real because

1. I know the pastor very well. He lives in my neighbourhood and has a good reputation, when I expressed my concerns to him he vouched for the mr sammy and said he knows someone who got a job through the agency.

2. While asking for directions to the “job agency office" many people reffered to mr Bleep as the man that helps people with job.

Honestly I don't know what to think of it. Anyone that know anything about this job agency should please help me confirm the details.

I received an email invite for a management trainee position I applied with an Insurance Firm.

Even though I never heard of the company prior to my application, they had a standardised website so I was convinced it was genuine. According to their about page, they were based in Lekki and specialised in brokerage services.

I had mixed feelings when I arrived the venue because the premises of the address didn't depict the image of a corporate organisation and there was a guesthouse signpost at the gate rather than the name of the insurance firm. I didn't want my 5:30am- 3MB trip to be in vain so I asked a guy hovering around the security post if this was **** Insurance Brokerage Firm and he said no.

I hissed angrily and walked a considerable distance from the gate only for the security personnel to run after me to say I was in the right place if I was scheduled for an interview.

I demanded to know why the display of ignorance earlier but he apologised and led me through a dark staircase, inside a maze like building.
Well, I didn't want to end up as an ingredient for ritual purposes so I was reluctant to pass through a door he showed to me.

"You go in first!" I said to him.

"Haba! You dey fear?"

"You think I want to die because of a job? Why I am the only candidate for a so called massive graduate recruitment if this is real?"

He sighed and opened the door ajar and I saw seven people inside, one lady and six guys. The guys were wearing suit/tie and their christmas shoes as usual.

I don't mean to ridicule anyone but I have attended all manner of deadlock interviews that I'd rather wear a suit to a night club than waste it on an interview. Literally, give me a pyjamas and I'm good to go.

Inside the room, there were several white plastic chairs. My first instinct was, 'So this GNLD people have finally gotten a Lekki branch office for their scam lectures.' Nevertheless, I took my seat beside the lady and looked around the mini hall. There was a band set in one corner and JESUS IS LORD was boldly written on the four sides of wall.

The guys were studying interview past questions from their phones while the lady was fervently praying and speaking in tongues. I don't know if the church environment was responsible for her countenance or if her unemployment state was worse than mine but her prayers were intimidating so I bowed my head slightly and prayed aloud in my native language.

When I raised my head up, a guy came in and started distributing question booklets to us. Then he excused himself and said we had thirty minutes to answer all questions and they are CCTV cameras in the room so cheating was highly prohibited. This was a dark room with zero signs of electricity. *sigh*

Thanks to my mobile browser, I answered all questions correctly while other candidates, particularly the prayer warrior stared at me in reproach. The examiner returned for our booklets in exact thirty minutes and said he was going to call each of us for a one on one session in a short while, beginning from the ladies.

I was the first.

He took me to a haggard looking office downstairs where I met two other young guys. One was busying on a computer while the other one was eating ofada rice with beans. There was a large portrait on the wall and while I waited, I googled the name written on the photograph and found out he is the CEO of **** group of companies dealing in real estate, tourism, hospitality and the latest, the insurance business.

Can you imagine?

I would later realise downstairs is a guesthouse, the left wing upstairs is a church, the right wing upstairs is a buka area and the left wing downstairs, the insurance office, all of which formed **** group of companies.

The first question I was asked after I introduced myself was how much value in Naira can I bring in a month if I am made a client officer. I said, "I thought this was a management trainee position."

The beans guys said no, that they are a one month old company, trying to grow their clientele base and the client officer died two weeks ago and the CEO demanded they replace him with three female client officers ASAP.

I was pissed at the fact that they made it seem like I applied with the death certificate of their late colleague. I said I can only answer that question when I know my salary details. He said N10000 for every one million naira I bring in and if I am able to hit that target weekly, N40000 is guaranteed compensation every month's end. I just grabbed my bag and thanked them for inviting me.

Some people find it difficult maintaining confidence and composure during interviews, even when they prepared well. To this kind of people, its more of a mental issue.

I just wanna give some tips based on my own experience for those faced with this problem. It may not be a total solution, but I'm sure if you practice them well, you'll improve. Interviews are like any other experience in life, you get better by practicing and going for interviews.
Maintaining confidence is an inside and outside challenge. U want ur outside appearance to project self-assurance and u also want to feel it on d inside too.

1. A confident Smile: a smile projects confidence. The right way is to smile hard, and then relax it just a little. D corners of ur mouth shud be turned up slightly, but not too much. Practice it over d mirror!

2. A firm handshake: Having a good, firm handshake also communicates confidence. A gud handshake shud be firm but not rib cracking. No girly, end of finger grab, or too stiff. Hold for a count of 3 then release.

3. Steady Eye Contact: Eyes are d window to a person's soul. Eye contact shud be steady but not searing. It shud be long enuf to come across as interested and confident, but not so long that the other person feels stared at. Its fine to break eye contact for a brief period and return again.

4. Listen attentively before answering: Some people are usually in a rush to form answers in dia head even when the question is still being asked. Dis is a bad listening skill. U shud wait for the question to be completed and understand it fisrt before answering.

5. Look and smell good: No overgrown hair, unironed clothes, dirty shoes, mouth odor, etc. All these make you loose confidence in yourself and affect your performance. You must have at least 2 good interview outfits in your wardrobe.

6. Practice self talk: Remind yourself that interviews are just a discussion and not do or die. Tell urself that u are prepared, u will do well, u will be fine.

7. See if you can discover a problem with the company: In my last interview, I told dem dat d company is loosing a lot of money becos they're not active on d social media. I explained to them and they were like woow! Dat was what gave me the job! Try if u can see a problem dat the company has and blow it out of proportion! They will employ u.

NB: These tips will work wonders only if you have already taken your time to prepare and also research the company.

I observe u perform well in an interview if d job u hope to get is from yur area of job-experience and when u hav a job at hand it make u relax in d interview cos u wil feel if don't get d job u fall bak to d job at hand

Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State and his predecessor, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, on Saturday paid a visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The duo arrived at Obasanjo’s residence at about 2:48 pm in company with a former prelate of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang, and some other state officials.

The team immediately proceeded into a closed-door meeting which ended at about 4.05 pm.

Udom, who addressed journalists after the meeting, said he was in Abeokuta to pay homage and to thank Obasanjo.

According to him, he consulted with Obasanjo shortly before the general elections and that his advice paid off.

“I have come to show gratitude and respect for someone whom I regard as a father and whose advice I regard as invaluable and which also contributed to my victory at the polls,” he said.
The governor acknowledged that his predecessor had laid a solid foundation upon which he would build and move the state to greater heights.
He said the Peoples Democratic Party remained the greatest party in Africa and would provide a credible and formidable opposition to the ruling All Progressive Congress in order to move the nation forward.
