Well, I hope that SE can be revamped, as a matter of fact, I want my people to leave Lagos. Enugu and Port are comparable to living than Lagos and Aba and Nnewi can be manufacturing base while Onitsha for trading. Like I stated previously, let the govt continue with it's hostile activities, this will force a lot of them to rethink home. I just want them to leave, anywhere but Lagos.

I share the same view with you bro, sometimes i like these things to happen for my people to learn but will they?

cap28: Fashola is still up to his old tricks of squeezing the life out of ordinary lagosians who are trying to earn an honest living, sadly many tribalists on this thread are applauding him thinking that they will not one day be victims of the same draconian economic policies.

My dear this is exactly what we are talking about here. Actually it did not affect me i am not a spare parts dealer, and i am sure his silly policies will never affect me. But how can a Government who does not in anyway support the masses growth always extorting the masses?

The Government is against the youths who engaged into fraud and other illegal means of making money, same Government is discouraging those who engaged in legitimate business to make money by tasking huge amount from them.

Firstly, not everything works by "Cooperation", even here, there are more small business x 10 than most operations, and most state incomes comes from small businesses and not the corps you think. Granted that Corps account for more money in revenues, YET, they pay so little in comparison to governments, this is why governments stress about small business and employments.

Yes, I live in Virginia, and YES VA is about half the size of Lagos. Yes, we have thousands of small business (sole proprietors) in VA. We don't call them "traders" but small business, I wish I can begin to list them, but driving down Arlington alone, you'll see lots of them. Even DC thrives on small business, from street corners (people selling by the roadside), to those who have jacked up stores to upscale stores and what have you.

Consolidation is good, but you need small business to survive. Foreign companies can only contribute so much, and no consolidation is not what Lagos needs, what they need do is restructure small business and how it's traded. No we're no losing out to foreign companies, like I said, restructuring. Take for instance, one Walmart store in an area kills lots of small business, YET, how much tax does a Walmart store remit to the state and local govt? Yet, that same small business, 1000 of them employ several thousands directly, and what have you and pay taxes (when combined) than what Walmart remits to the govt. Now you see why a City like DC bluntly REFUSED with a capital NO to WALMART. The negotiation has been going on forever, because it doesn't favor the people or the govt. Killing small business and talking modernization won't pay the bills.

Cadbury can pick them, but did that stop small chocolate shops to produce their own chocolate? Did that stop restaurants from doing theirs? Look, no matter how we beat and dance around it, go to SBA.gov, what drives the U.S. economy is small business, however, the indices of measuring U.S. economy is stocks of the top 50 or 500 companies in the U.S.

My brother you are on point, but no matter how hard you try these yeruba folks who's minds is bent on tribalism just like their leaders will never agree with you.

Are you the owner of Lagos? Can you give me address where any of your property worth 5million naira is located in lagos i will show you Bleep of mine.

Fashola with his ethnic agenda but he is late because the vital areas in lagos is already owned by non lagosians. To get ride of others he need to amend the law and revoke the ownership license of our properties in lagos until then his effort remain fruitless.

aribisala0: Not everything is a subject of simple trading or the same fee. Some people are licensed to sell guns, explosives, medicines or aircraft while others sell chin chin and puff puff. They cannot and should not pay the same licence fee. Lagos is saying it takes the sale of spare parts quite seriously and not just an ordinary trade item. That is the message. High fees are a valid instrument for reducing the number of players and sanitizing a sector. Selling spare parts is not the same as selling tomato
Now regarding you calling me a hypocrite I will overlook that on this occasion. Please do not call me names. My normal practice is to respond to that by abusing your parents and wishing them a painful death always. I will not do that now but be warned. No name calling.

Cursing abusing is nothing new to your lineage so go on but it all goes back to you and where you come from.

I like to be civil in my argument despite that some of you always see truth and shun to say it because you belong to ACN thugs on NL but i try as much as i can to shun abusing you lot. Take a look at the first comment where you quoted me and says my comment is rubbish, you may not agree with what i said doesn't give you whatsoever right to address a man of my type as someone saying rubbish, this is faceless forum hence i careless when you insult me or when you didn't.I am sure if we are to know each other you maybe one of my errand boy/girl.

Tell Fashola to find other means to generate enough resources and leave these guys who are hustling to stand on their fit, these guys are not responsible for the huge levy his master place on him, or he should learn from Oshemole who used thienumbu and dump him, that is what i call smart guy not just to carry the name SAN in your name without having enough ball to kick thienumbu aside.

That is absolute rubbish.Even to practice as a professional whether lawyer account etc you require licences in many countries. You can call it registration.licence, permit or whatever but it relates to those fields where government feels there is a need for some degree of control and regulation.
In many jurisdictions you will need to be licenced to practice as a butcher,to run an abattoir or in many businesses that have to do with public safety like selling medicines, firearms etc. What is behing this is quite clear : how can someone with one million naira be selling spare parts? Is it chewing gum? Do you know that spare parts are subject to Standards Organization Regulation and many other rules. In all reality there should not be more than 10- 20 companies selling spare parts in Lagos. This is a business for companies not traders . So when parts are defective you can go back and make a claim. How can a member of the public make a claim off traders who are prepared to attack government officials. Why don't we allow individuals to open banks in their parlour?

We need companies not petty traders in this sector. The traders should go back to the drawing board and merge into larger entities. It is called consolidation. One reason why Nigeria remains backward in business is we have not learnt how to operate using companies. Every one wants to be oga but there are some sectors/industries where this makes no sense.

@ the bolded does not need long grammars, it called trade permit, Despite my business has gone international i still run some electronics shops in some part of Nigeria. We pay trade permit yearly to local council. After paying that i doubt if there should be need for another annual registration fee or whatever to Govt except tax which has to do with your income.

You guys should quite hypocrite.

Everyone here should know you are an illiterate with subpar intelligence Example of annual registration fees on businesses

http://www.scc.virginia.gov/clk/befaq/an_regfees.aspx#a1

Dayolodo see how you kept making fool of yourself, why not post this part of the article you extracted your fact from? Below write up is from your link.

How much is the annual registration fee and when is it assessed?

Every Virginia and registered foreign corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership and business trust is required, by law, to pay an annual registration fee to the State Corporation Commission each year after the year in which it was formed or registered to transact business in Virginia.

For stock corporations, the annual registration fee is based on the number of shares the corporation is authorized to issue according to the records of the Commission as of the first day of the second month preceding the month in which it was incorporated or registered to transact business in Virginia. The current corporation fee schedule is available in a form titled Annual Corporation Requirements and Fee Schedule.

For nonstock corporations, the annual registration fee is $25. It is assessed as of the first day of the second month preceding the month in which the corporation was incorporated or registered to transact business in Virginia.

For limited liability companies, the annual registration fee is $50. It is assessed as of the first day of the second month preceding the month in which the company was formed or registered to transact business in Virginia.

For limited partnerships and business trusts, the annual registration fee is $50, which is assessed as of July 1.

The Bolded parts shows us that in Virginia where such thing took place it has categories, but in lagos every motor parts dealer small or big tasked to pay 50k, all auto dealers big or small firm tasked 100k what a jungle law.

Well, i expected it that your olodolistic nature will never allowed you to see the point.

Gov. Fashola Closes 43 Spare Parts’ Shops, Arrests Traders In Lagos
On Monday, February 11th, 2013
0 Comments | By admin

Lagos State Government has sealed off43 spare parts shops and arrested eight dealers over failure to register the businesses with the government.
The spare parts shops, which are located in Maza Maza, Mile 2 area of the state, were shut by the enforcement unit of the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, in conjunction with officials of the state’s task force.

A statement on Sunday by the agency said the MVAA had earlier closed the spare parts shops, adding that their owners broke the seal and resumed their trade.
Spare parts dealers are supposed to pay an annual registration fee of N50,000 while auto dealers are to pay an annual registration fee of N100,000.

The statement said, “It has been observed that many spare parts and auto dealers have been defaulting in the payment of the annual registrationfees, while a series of sensitisation andtalks to get many of them pay the annual fees had been unsuccessful.
“When the MVAA officials got to the shops to re-effect the closure of the shops, they were attacked by some spare parts dealers.
“Task force officials came to the rescueof MVAA personnel as they arrested eight people for breaking government’s seal and assaulting its officials.

“Other attackers fled on sighting task force officials. The shops were later sealed off.”
The Chairman of the task force, Superintendent of Police Bayo Sulaiman, said the arrested dealers would be arraigned at the state Special Offences Court.

Thats the thing with you Illiterate Ibos.
The fee is a registration fee. Registration fee is standard and doesnt depend on income.

So tell us where you saw TAX in the above post? Anumanu. Registration fee is always fixed e.g for cars whether you are driving a $200k Mercedes or a $700 jalopy the registration is the same

Dayolodo. I don't expect you to be this daft, what type of English is annual registration fee of 50k. Listen up you coward i have traveled several countries of the world civilized and third worlds, currently doing my business in one of the best business minded country in the world and i have not come across any Govt taxing business men or civil servants anything call annual registration fee if not tax. Whatever you pay to Govt yearly or monthly is nothing but tax.

This is why i kept telling my fellow igbos who blindly believing that thiefnumbu, fashola, and Buhari has their interest at heart to be careful because i see them all digging their grave by their self.

Fashola always aggressive taxing innocent residents of lagos due heavy levy his master Thiefnumbu placed on him and his administration, no wonder Oshemole trying to disassociate himself from these set of crooks.

My friend dayolodo, there is no doubt you can read and write but i am convinced you lacked comprehension.

9ja_I_hail: Dear Brothers,
I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry.

I am well aware that this ministry, due to its essential spiritual nature, must be carried out not only with words and deeds, but no less with prayer and suffering. However, in today’s world, subject to so many rapid changes and shaken by questions of deep relevance for the life of faith, in order to govern the bark of Saint Peter and proclaim the Gospel, both strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me.

For this reason, and well aware of the seriousness of this act, with full freedom I declare that I renounce the ministry of Bishop of Rome, Successor of Saint Peter, entrusted to me by the Cardinals on 19 April 2005, in such a way, that as from 28 February 2013, at 20:00 hours, the See of Rome, the See of Saint Peter, will be vacant and a Conclave to elect the new Supreme Pontiff will have to be convoked by those whose competence it is.

Dear Brothers, I thank you most sincerely for all the love and work with which you have supported me in my ministry and I ask pardon for all my defects. And now, let us entrust the Holy Church to the care of Our Supreme Pastor, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and implore his holy Mother Mary, so that she may assist the Cardinal Fathers with her maternal solicitude, in electing a new Supreme Pontiff. With regard to myself, I wish to also devotedly serve the Holy Church of God in the future through a life dedicated to prayer.

Gooogle: Wow, finally read thru to the last page, really interesting. BTW, I come from the east and have lived in every part of the country and speak the 3 languages fluently and I mean fluently. My questions to my Igbo brothers are these;
(1)For how long are we going to play this race card thing?
(2)Why do we always make ourselves look like the minority that deserves pity from everybody yet we run the economy,
(3)Do you think the igbo mindset of 2013 is the same as that of 2013
(4)Are those benefits you listed really benefits or what you should have in a saner clime
(5) What is the real population of the SE, not the 1.4m that voted for PDP in presidential election and 750k that voted in a keenly contested governorship election

Except you are really really benefiting from the madness going on around you, dont support what is not right otherwise posterity will never forgive you

After reading from page one to four, this craps above is what you came up with, please go to bed if you have nothing tangible to say. In your long writing you failed to highlight what Igbos stand to benefit under buhari and tinumbu lead party, or what did buhari did for SE or SS when he was head of state.

My friend are you daft to read and comprehend? Non of us is saying GEJ is the best but so far so good Igbos are benefiting from his administration we cannot afford to leave him right now and join Tinumbu and Buhari whom will have known their intentions towards igbos long ago, or are you saying these two crocks who that lead the party will repent overnight?

Look our forefather made this mistakes in the past by having one Nigeria in mind whereas their counterparts were busy concentrating on their region. If you are truly igbo as you claimed, please i will advice you to zero your mind from that nonsensical attitude of placing Nigeria before Igbo because that is what kept us where we are today.Nigeria is a country where you stand to benefit nothing in political arrangement if you are not tribal.

For now GEJ is better to us than any other president that have rule Nigeria the past, we cannot afford to leave where we are benefiting at the moment and move to a mega party that never consulted us before their arrangement.

I have a question for you. If truly you are an igbo as you claimed, aren't you ashamed that these people did not consult igbos for negotiation before the merger? Your answer to this question will determined if you are an igbo or not.

So far Rochas is doing well for all i care, but his recent move is unpopular and against the wish of majority igbos, in any case majority carries the vote. Mind you i never uttered any disrespectful words against Rochas on this argument hence it is not in my habit to insult leaders who meant well in public.I will like to clarify you about my stance. I am against his recent move why? Because a mega party lead by Buhari and tinumbu who did not have regards for my region does not worth my support or vote, what we are saying is igbos stand to benefit more in GEJ administration than in the hand of a mega party lead by Buhari and tinumbu. Hopefully you will understand where i am coming from. Rochas should keep his good work going we are behind him but on his move to join Buhari and co who does not have interest of our region must be resisted by all means.Like the title of this thread stated, Rochas is on his own on this move.

GEJ may not be the cause of the problems , but as the president we expect him to have some solutions or at least a plan and strategy . Good intention is not enough to run a country. You need the selflessness and the capacity to do the job. With the way the subsidy saga is being handled, the way the Ribadu report is treated and the fact that corruption is fighting back with tacit support of the powers that be forget about fighting corruption. If you can't or you just will not fight corruption then forget about development.

Nigeria problem is too complex, expecting GEJ to carry all the problems along withing short period of two years in office is like wishing that Rome should be built withing an hour. My people calm down your criticism will not help GEJ administration rather it will draw we all back.Mine support and your support is what our president need. like his senior spokes man said in one of his interview,GEJ is not new with criticism,no wonder he has been performing amidst of criticism.

Omo_Tier1: I have followed with interest the thinking of most NLers from eastern part of Nigeria and I find it really worrying that most have the mindset of VICTIMS. Why on earth will most Igbos think any other region need to come consult them? For real in the political permutations, the eastern part of Nigeria has little or no political value for anyone who wants to become President of Nigeria. The regions that truly matter is the NW, NC, SW and SS.any body that can take the NW, SW and any three states in NC will become President.

It is a no brainier for those of us watching the merger with keen interest that the permutation is strictly along the lines of winning the North, getting 90% of votes in SouthWest, win most votes in NC, and take some votes in Edo and IMO State.

Beside The merger is still early days and several fall outs will happen, but I think how effective APC will be in SE will be known by the elections coming up in Anambra. If Ngige decides to run for governorship position, things will definitely get interesting and with APGA in crisis, anything can happen because I can not see any political relevance of Peter Obi once He leaves office.

Yes the bolded was the mindset of all Nigerians, Buhari thought the same too but GEJ been a wise nigga and calculative hold SE/SS tight at the end of the day he won with distant gap. Friend stop fooling yourself thinking igbos are less in population,Nigeria census has been bias wait until the day we will have credible census y'all will realized that whoever got 90% of igbo votes stand a chance to win election, until then continue deceiving yourself like Buhari.

chima12: Before the merger was officially announced,we read and heard about various meetings/negociation between ACN/CPC/ANPP.Did you ever hear of APGA negociating with these parties? That merger has nothing good in stock for the SE,forget about them.Better to support Gej than the so called mega party.

I was about to ask the same question. How do you expect not to be relegated by a mega party who did not remember to consult you during their negotiation time? If the person who wrote the below comment is truly an igbo he/she must be one of those my papa say we be igbo.

cooltone:
Yes hopefully, there is nothing that cannot be negotiated. We can use the strength and spread of Ndigbo across the country to negotiate our interest. We need real political emancipation and that wont come from being on status quo. We need real change.

cooltone: What has Jonathan done for Ndigbo, he is just a tool used to humiliate us, from sacking of Nnaji to Uzoma and Ojukwu's burial. Our infrastructure in the south east are all dillapitated. No roads, schools or hospital from the federal government. The second niger bridge is not forthcomig from this government, so we have absolutely nothing to show for all the blind support to Jonathan. Even his own people are thinking twice. The Igbos need real political emancipation and that definitely wont come from GEJ or Pdp. We need to think deeply.

And joining the mega party will make igbo benefit all these things you listed above in two years or less?

eggheaders: all I want to say his.with the mindset of most igbo the eastern Nigerian will forever be the most backward enclave in Nigeria. during the fuel subsidy era you guys played the ethnic card notwithstanding y'all suffered the increase the most talking from experience on my visitation to enugu.you guys should grow beyond primordial politics. and breathe the change the opposition are doling out for free in the state they control.a rochas is 50 times better than obi joined with orji.

Will you shut up the toilet you call mouth? How dare you call eastern Nigeria the most backward? Please tell me your ethnicity so that i will handle you properly with respect. F00LISH GOAT.

take dat: Guess the reason you are miffed is because you feel his loyalty and support should go to GEJ and not because he is a perceived turncoat cos most Nigerian politicians are. This is a man who rode to the office he presently occupy more on his name and goodwill than a political platform. I understand why you guys aren't disposed to this move of his, but you guys should give him a benefit of doubt.

Bro/Sis that man Rochas is bringing nothing to Ndigbo from that merger rather than Vice president which igbos are not interested at this point. Instead of Vice president igbos would rather be contented with how far GEJ administration has been repositioning us.

re@lchange:
all these arguments for and against is really premature because the APC, abi na tank has not picked their presidential canditate yet
woe betide anybody that accepts vice president position for ndigbo again in nigeria

to make sense, APGA should put forward their presidential candidate for 2015 now.
when okorocha returns with a VP candidacy for tank APC, we will chase him back with it.

chima12: For the SE,as long as Gej makes himself available for re-election,he has our support.Rochas,Udenwa and their likes in so called mega party are on their own.

nwanne i agree with these words

Nwanne m some of our igbo people are plain blind. Our forefathers made this mistake by letting many of our opportunity go behind us,shall we the youths allow the same mistakes?

what shall it benefit us to abandon GEJ who has been re writing the wrong melted out to us and join one nonsensical merger which we don't know what we stand to benefit from it.

berem: of course am a die hard igbo girl but when it comes to matters like this, you don't expect me to dance to your tune. I haven't been happy with this present administration. this is the time for igbos to support the merger party if we really want change.

Support the merger party and benefit what? When they started the consultation did they consult igbos? this is enough reason for you and few other igbos who's brain has been washed to realized that this merger is lead by the same folks who bent on making sure igbo man will never raise head in this Nation.

Berem you have not mentioned to me what igbos stand to benefit in this merger neither have you remind me of the merger intention to make an igbo man their presidential candidate.

Now looking at how the merger was formed and looking at how GEJ administration has been lead, which of this is beneficial to igbos?

Igbos will live to regret should they abandon GEJ and follow Buhari and tinumbu who has no respect or regards for them. Enough said.
