justosee: Is there any State in Nigeria that don't need more money? where are you going to get more money for Lagos? Is the country not short of funds already?
The basic law of sound investment is to invest where it has to greatest impact... If you have 10% of the population in Lagos, it makes more sense to invest in Lagos infrastructure.
The problem that I sensing with you is that suffered by most Nigerians... You seem to think that the special status is about SHARING money rather than infrastructural investment.
The reality is that better infrastructure, schools, hospitals, in Lagos.... Means 10% of the population has access to better infrastructure and social services, a CATALYST for development. >
justosee: There are states where citizens get better from their government than Lagos. Almost everyone who earns in Lagos pay tax to the government. The hustlers in the street pay weekly and daily to the government.
If you think that Nigerians are diligent taxpayers, then we simply have no basis for discussion...smh >
justosee: Agitations were because of environmental issues caused by oil companies that took away people's source of livelihood.
Lagos benefits from its huge population. they generate the highest igr
They can only generate any IGR if there’s investment in infrastructure to make the population PRODUCTIVE... That’s one nexus that most Nigerians obsessed with SHARING money fail to grasp. Lagos needs support to support ALL Nigerians. >
justosee: All Nigerians have investment in Lagos. There is always a place that performs better than the others in every country.
All Nigerians have investments in Lagos because Lagos has made the environment hospitable for ALL Nigerians...
It’s probably the only state where any Nigerian (even foreigners) can acquire land/property without much hassle. It’s the only state that I know in Nigeria that gives grants/low interest loans to ALL Nigerians (resident in Lagos), without regard to so-called State of Origin, and similarly grants FREE public education for pupils from all across Nigeria also without to so-called State of Origin. Lagos is a state that appoints non-indigenes into its cabinet, and similarly elects non-indigenes to represent its constituencies. Accordingly, Nigerians from all across the nation freely and eagerly flock to Lagos because it is an ATTRACTIVE destination. While many other states are busying chasing away non-indigenes. >
justosee: Do they pay taxes elsewhere in Nigerian?
Do their kids get FREE (and relatively good) public education elsewhere in Nigeria? Anyway, they should be paying their due taxes EVERYWHERE and ANYWHERE in Nigeria - that’s the price and duty of citizenship.
Just because people are tax DODGERS in Kaura Namoda should not be advanced as justification for tax DODGING in Lagos... Unfortunately, many Nigerians only see citizenship as a one-way street - all rights and privileges without any responsibilities. SMH >
justosee: Niger Delta is the only region that gives more than they get to the federal government and they are not complaining.
Well, all the threats of returning to militancy must be imaginary then... Dude, the Niger Delta DESERVES its special status, but so does Lagos as well.
But as I already noted, Lagos is UNLIKELY to get it... Because Nigerians (even those benefiting from Lagos) are simply too PRIMITIVELY tribalistic. >
justosee: And they are not paying tax already? Is there anyone who works and don't pay tax in Nigeria?
You think all those Okada and Suya men, and traders and roadside mechanics pay taxes?!
Dude, outside of the civil service (and the relative handful subject to PAYE/withholding), the overwhelming MAJORITY of Nigerians do not (or do not fully) meet their tax obligations. That’s why Nigeria has the WORST tax revenue to GDP ratio in the ENTIRE African continent. >
justosee: Lagos already generate enough money to take care of itself. If you are talking about Lagos, what about the Niger Delta that is spoonfeeding the whole country?
The Niger Delta is ALREADY enjoying special status... Special (derivative) allocation, Ministry of Niger Delta, NDDC, etc.
DESERVEDLY SO! And so does Lagos deserves to as well. >
Heathrow44: Lagos demanding a special status isn't appropriate especially at a time when secessionist attempts are at an all time high, this is going t send a wrong signal and would cause other states to start asking for special status just like the other "Human being" Said kano also need special status for being "The commercial hub of the " North" so they deserve special statusOthers would still come forward like Rivers, Delta for being oil hub of the nation and such demands special status, Sanwo OLU didn't think this through b4 running t meet @NAssNg
Rivers and Delta already have special status as oil-producing states, which is why they receive special (derivation) allocations, have a dedicated federal ministry and the NDDC.
Meanwhile, Nigerians from all across the nation VOTE WITH THEIR FEET everyday and flock into Lagos in droves daily. This puts enormous and considerable stress on both physical and social infrastructure (including resources for FREE public education in all non-tertiary public schools in Lagos). It is only fair that Lagos receive due support for its preeminent role in supporting ALL Nigerians. >
Bouz: Don't lagos state generate taxes from indegenes of those states, on their numerous investments in lagos? Yet touts are still every where extorting owo da. Bad roads everywhere .
You think all those Okada and Suya men pay taxes? SMH >
Kabongo1: Where can I buy cement for 2500 in Nigeria Please?
At the factory! That’s the meaning of “ex-factory” price. The addition that you at retail is logistic costs and profits of distributors and retailers. >
There will always be speeding drivers EVERYWHERE in the world... Govts (including LGs) should be building necessary road furniture (overpasses, traffic lights, speed lights, signage, etc).
seyi360: Men have varying pursuit capacity, some have a short fuse while some have developed thick skin for insults upon insults from women. It has been said many times that women mean yes when they say no at times. How long shall a man continue to read in between the lines of a woman. What are the red lights a man should watch out for?
Gift52: Nigeria is a scam, the problem is not Nigerians but Nigerias Constitution. The document upon which we were formed were put together by few soldiers and their surrogates - Pastor Paul Adefarasin
The Founder of House on the Rock Church backed this up by pointing out that Nigerians succeed in sciences and arts when they leave the country.
He also stated that the next administration must not access power until we have a veritable constitution that is truly the document of “we the people”.
Pastor Adefarasin stated that everyone is suffering in Nigeria even though we can easily be one of the top three countries in the world with the resources we have.
He also added that the international community should not come and tell us what to do or about democracy because no election has ever been free and fair except that of Abiola.
When his father was serving as state chief judge under military rule, was Nigeria a “scam” then?! >
lalasticlala: Olushola Wazzi Popoola Vs Canada: Nigerian man's refugee request in Canada dismissed because he was a member of SARS and may have committed crimes against humanity.
chiiraq802: Guns don't kill people , People kill People .... RIP to deceased.
Guns enable some people to kill people they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to... It’s not a coincidence that societies with the easiest gun accessibility have by far the HIGHEST cases of gun-related homicides. >

DannyG8: When we started dating everything was cool, she do call me, we chat everything was ok. She comes to my place but just all of a sudden she changed, stopped picking up my calls, stopped replying my messages or sometimes it takes her days to reply me
I don't understand her and I don't know what to do either. I need your advice please no insult.
Leave her alone and get on with your life... You may not realize it now, but it’s probably BEST for BOTH of you!
Bola146: Don't you know her house Why not use another number to call her? This is why I love good intimacy and good communication. She is not here to answer you, find time to check on and and talk one on one. If she doesn't change after you have tried your best, ignore her totally
AWFUL ADVICE!!
That’s basically STALKING... She clearly does NOT want to maintain contact, let her be.
Not sure why so many Nigerians (both gender, but more often males) have an “ownership” mentality towards relationships. >
gidient: Ray Reddington @_Larenzo who graduated with third class from OAU discovers he’s a genius while studying in Canada
A Nigerian man has revealed that he never knew about his ingenuity till he went to further his education in Canada.
According to the Twitter user identified as @_Larenzo, he graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) with a third class degree, but when he started studying in Canada, his lecturers were impressed with his problem-solving skills.
He later discovered after taking an IQ test, that he was a genius whose intelligence was greatly underrated owing to Nigeria’s falling standard of education.
According to @_Larenzo, he topped his class upon graduation from the university in Canada.
Many of the comments here reveal a MISUNDERSTANDING of knowledge and education... Knowledge is NOT static, the more you apply yourself the more that you are likely to learn.
Meanwhile, most of these “IQ tests” are crap and culturally-biased... But that’s a different subject matter for a different day and discussion. >
