naijadrivablog: Nice, but why not first build in Nigeria (like in Lagos or another city), especially a rentable house, before buying a house in the UK?
Just a little case now, those Tax hungry people would seize it or something. Because the Bank de facto "owns" the house... Until he fully pays off the mortgage (loan) in about 25-30 years.
In Nigeria, he would have to pay EVERYTHING upfront!> |

naptu2: That's what happened to Maroko. They said that they wanted to make it safe, so that the ocean would stop flooding the place, but gigantic buildings appeared on the place after they sand-filled it and none of the former inhabitants got their property back. It became the home of millionaires. No, it was not... There was NEVER any promise to return the displaced to Maroko. Maroko was deemed largely unsafe and a den of thieves (and of course it was both)... But the primary reason it was demolished (and only a military man could have done it) was the many of residents were legally SQUATTERS! Btw, whatever one may say about their relocation to Ikota and Jakande... Those places were still much BETTER than the tin and wooden shacks at Maroko. To make omelettes, you gotta break some eggs... There's hardly any development without some form of dislocation, we just have to minimize the impact. > |

Jimi24: Nigeria has better comparative for rice than Thailand and Malaysia. We can grow rice 3 times a year. We have more arable land than China even though China is a much bigger country. Cost of labour in Nigeria is now one of the lowest in the world. Nigeria's problem is mechanization, seeds and modification or finishing of existing irrigation projects. Most people saying we dont have comparative advantage are being thoughtless and shallow. Think, get a sheet of paper and actually do the maths. If the problem is indiscipline and corruption then its not a comparative advantage issue. We have comparative advantage in petroleum products as well but because of corruption, laziness and slackness it actually appears we don't have.
People should get serious, get to work and stop criticizing a good policy because they dont like Buhari But it is NOT a "comparative advantage" when the value chain from farm to table is WOEFUL... Some of which you've already noted - seedings (and thus yield per acre), input (fertilizers, etc.), irrigation, storage, logistics, transportation, etc. > |

Ojukoroju stealing How exactly is it "stealing"? It is a PRIVATE investment by a PRIVATE sector company. These are backward integration projects... But PRIVATE investors can estimate whatever they please (Dangote Sugar is listed and cannot). > |

OkCornel: This my friend is the right question to ask. Hopefully this would have some positive effect on the value chain for home grown sugar cane in the long run.
BUA could; 1) Lease hectares of land and grow sugar cane en masse
2) Foster backward linkage with farmers and other small to medium scale farms to augment existing supply.
3) In the long run, consider production of ethanol as biofuel.
Overall ripple effects... more jobs and forex savings.
Anyways, time will tell. The BUA and Dangote sugar projects maximize the extended value chain in sugar production by using by-products for the production of fuel ethanol, animal feeds, in-house electricity (w/ surplus power generated by the plants supplied to the national grid). > |

She should strive to be chioma the superstar or something nice too. What if davido dies tomorrow. Will she stupidly now go to school or continue his music career for him? How will she afford to give her son quality stardom life that he deserves assuming davido leaves her with nothing. Will she go and marry his father lol?
She had better be productive that way she would make Davido Chase her for the rest of her life for fear of loosing her to someone better.
Imagine the fear she must go through daily that davido may leave her. Mark my words her son will call her a gold digger if she doesn't do something fast. Rubbish
Seeing her wear these fendi shoes makes me hate the fact that she is shamelessly flaunting davido's wealth. Something she herself will never buy for herself even if she has the money. Why can't she try to flaunt her own wealth. Shoes that will buy her entire father's household a to and fro trip to Dubai! It's not wise. Chioma pls go and finish school. Too much excuses for stealing money in every sector in this country sha. Nigeria has regularly been among the world's leading sugar importers... Local production and refining capacity is struggling to catch up, but there are several new projects.
Between BUA, Dangote and Olams... There are refineries in Lagos, Rivers and projects in Niger, Taraba, Adamawa and Nasarawa states.
Until now, the refineries mostly refined imported raw sugar... But under the Sugar Development Policy, new projects are backward-integrated (including plantation). > |

Who owns the market Was it set up illegally
Are you from Lagos? If you do not know find out who owns the market before you start talking rubbish. If it is a PUBLIC facility.... Why the b*tching when government decides to close its own facilities? Anyway, a market is NOT just a space... But the operations itself, and those are PRIVATE enterprises.
