Kxyz: I am starting to think oil is a curse to Nigeria.... When ''all" other countries are trying to run away from oil , we are busy fighting for something that wouldn't be needed in 10 years time Even presuming your premise is valid, we could still use those resources for 10 years... It doesn’t take up to 10 years to build schools and hospitals, educate/upskill people and catalyze development. Nonetheless, any notion that “other countries are trying to run away from oil” is grossly inaccurate... Industrialized oil-rich Norway recently awarded its most-ever exploration licenses, while other countries are jostling over Arctic reserves. > |

I do the same too. I finance my NGO 100% and I am answerable to no entity. PS: Perhaps here in “anyhowness” Nigeria, but certainly NOT in the US (where Gates/Buffet reside)... I do the same too. I finance my NGO 100% and I am answerable to no entity. Sadly, it is more precisely describable as below the level of reality... You think the likes of Gates and Buffet (and others who have pledged to bequeath most of their wealth to charity) are the only billionaires or wealthy people in the US? Nonetheless, for your edification, there are NO taxes on assets in the US. There are income and minimal capital gains taxes (as low as 0% in some cases) but NO taxes on “assets”. Furthermore, exactly how does bequeathing wealth to charity AFTER YOUR DEATH help you to avoid CURRENT tax liabilities (unless you are mistakenly referencing relatively minimal inheritance taxes). > |

panini: I fully agree with your post. Many are suffering because their parents left nothing to them. I believe it's our "show off" culture from generations back. VRDroid: He probably chased money and wealth without a slight understanding of the nature of existence and how to build a legacy for his generations.
A clear case of a man who depends on people's opinion and was guided by his morality and emotion instead of Divine Purpose.
God or Universe or what ever people choose to call this, is not stupid. Money is hard to make, it is our Natural Energy Yield, we are expected to further our DNA strings and future generations with Intelligence and mechanics of advancing the future of the Universe with the blessings we gain.
It is the reason we work so hard. We are not here for Charity and Philantropy, we are here to Advance Creation and our bloodline should and must be tutored on the purpose of the Universe in order to further the Divine Cause.
It is why I love the wealthiest 1%. It is the chief reason I can only dine with the Awakened and Illuminated. I do not care how much money, you have, as long as you have zero knowledge of the purpose of existence, then it is a fucck you to such level of ignorance. Tell that to Bill Gates or Warren Buffet whose inheritance plans will reportedly leave about 95% of wealth to charity... With Buffet bequeathing his family only a small amount of Berkshire Hathaway stock and some real estate properties. Not making your grandkids incredibly wealthy for doing nothing more than winning the 'lottery' of birth is not necessarily punitive... Rather, some wealthy people who've actually created wealth believe in promoting self-sufficiency and a strong work ethic in their families. ________________________ PS: Of course even 5% of Gates' or Buffet's wealth is not beans... Nonetheless, the general underlying principle or philosophy is the point. > |

GistReport: Actress Funmi Bank-Anthony opened up on her family background and how it rubbed off on her in the decisions she takes, in a new interview.
The granddaughter of late Sir Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, also dispelled claims of riding on the name of her late grandfather to achieve some level of success in the movie industry. She said in the interview with The Sun,
Yes, the name is household but I don’t think it has had any impact on my life and career. I can’t go to any bank and withdraw money with that name. He has done his bit when he was alive. He had his name and I am trying to make mine too. I am not even half way where I want to be, even though it is a name people can easily associate themselves with.
Funmi Bank-Anthony further revealed that her grandfather willed his 48 houses in Lagos to the motherless, as she talked about taking up the philanthropic course;
It started with my grandfather, Sam Mobolaji Bank-Anthony. When he died, he wrote in his will that all his belongings be donated to the less privileged, even including the spoons. He had about 48 houses in Lagos and he declared that all be given to the motherless (children) and that is so huge for me, because I see it that he left us to suffer. If he had left the houses in Lagos for us, I would be a multi-billionaire today, even as a grandchild. He was one of the richest men in Nigeria and he didn’t leave anything for us. That was deep for me. I see it that the things you boast of today can be taken away from you within the twinkling of an eye. It then dawned on me that I could lose the things I have. So, philanthropy came out of the fear of losing the things I have. So, I would rather give it out than lose them when I am gone, though some people take you for granted when they know you are excessively nice.

edunwablog: A former Abia State Governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has revealed that many senators are disappointed with their salaries after they got far below what they expected before getting into the Senate.
Kalu, who is the Chief Whip of the Senate, stated this on Saturday in Abuja when he addressed journalists, promising to give details of what senators earn soon.
He said: “Let me address the issue of jumbo pay. I have received my salary for June and it is far below what you people are writing.
“If a minister is travelling to Lagos, would he use his legs? What you call fat salary are monies used to run the constituency because they don’t give us additional funds.
“It is the money we use when we travel to Abia, Lagos, Badagry or Kaduna. Next meeting, I will unveil to you.
“You will now see that you are maligning and criticising the National Assembly for nothing.
“Most of my colleagues said they did not know it was going to be like this and I said we came to serve our country as senators.
“When they were outside, they were also saying that all the money was carried by the National Assembly which is not true.
“The money they have given them is not going to be enough. I have seen them crying already.
“They came to me to complain because I have seen the good and the ugly.
“I think that the media is not fair to the National Assembly. I call on you people to change your minds because there is no jumbo pay; honestly, I have not seen one.
“If I see jumbo pay that does not represent my conscience, I will speak.
“When I was governor, the state was buying my food; the state paid everything, but as a senator, nobody does that.”
https://www.akelicious.net/2019/07/many-senators-are-disappointed-with.html What an he-diot... Tax payers are struggling to feed themselves and their families, while the state was feeding you and your friends and visitors. The culture of entitlement of most Nigerian politicians is despicable! EVERY medical patient has a RIGHT to keep her medical condition/information SECRET and CONFIDENTIAL, unless she chooses otherwise... With HIV patients in an unfortunately largely IGNORANT country as Nigeria, stigma/discrimination will discourage people seeking treatment. > |

Johnkay01: I don't see anything wrong in the message she passed across.
She didn't mention a single name rather she said some of the HIV victims secretly come to take their drugs which means they don't want people to know them.
By not engaging in their programs means they may be spreading the virus. Their interest is to just take drugs and go without people noticing them.
In fact, those giving out the drugs in such manner should be cautioned.
#spread_the_news_not_the_virus The ignorance in the highlighted above aside... She breached their RIGHT to confidentiality (just as with any medical patient) by posting their pictures online as HIV patients. SHE DESERVES EVERY PENALTY COMING HER WAY... linearity: How is it technically wrong?
She did not expose anyone nor did she divulge any privacy information or the identity of anyone.
In fact, what she said is public knowledge; we all know before the said it that, HIV is not written across one’s forehead and that, with recent advancement of medicine carriers lives normal healthy lives and can pro-create without passing on the virus.
The only new info I think she exposes that, we don’t know before now is that, in her job as a nurse, she administers HIV drugs to patients and we would even infer that to some degree of accuracy without her saying it, because of her occupation of being a Nurse.
One might have argument that, she tend to have a myopic view of HIV patients and have a condescending view about them or a self-patronizing pity. How is it not exposing her patients if she published a picture of them on social media? Meanwhile, not sure why you think that a nurse administering HIV medication is "new" information. > |

GidiWoodsMan: What she did is technically wrong. But in a place like Nigeria where the government is yet to criminalise deliberate transmission of HIV, I think I can agree with the point she's trying to make.
Most people quietly start receiving treatment once they learn of their HIV+ status, but at the same time they struggle to infect as many other people as they can as a form of 'revenge'. Some even neglect to tell their future spouses who eventually contract the virus from them and die in ignorance (the 'slapping senator' Ishaku is a case in point. It's not just "technically" wrong... Just wrong, and probably illegal since she is effectively sharing patients' medical information without permission. > |
