you are being economical with the truth. He loan obtained by fayemi was 25billion and he had already paid over 14billion b4 he left office in 2014.The money was judiciously spent ti buukd a new govt. house and execute other capitsl projects. Apart from the needless bridge& govt. Office, which other good project did fayose execute, despite collecting several bailout funds
Convinced most Nigerians suffer from a collective firm of the Stockholm Syndrome... undecided

A taxpaying (hopefully) citizen is actually defending a ruler (can’t call these jokers leaders) for taking a N25b (or N52b) LOAN to build a house and office where he will live, work and entertain (as many Govs treat Govt House as a free all-you-can-eat restaurant). If you have to take a LOAN, it means that you don’t have the money and therefore should cut your coat according to size! And when you do take a LOAN, use it for something that will generate a return to service/repay the loan. Jeez!! Meanwhile, doubtful all the primary schools in Ekiti cost up to N25b.

Abegi, govt should concentrate on building schools and hospitals, and social housing, not freaking “civic centers”. undecided

Anyway, Nigerians DESERVE the leaders they get...
Because fanciful events venues should be left to the private sector. Instead, it will be mostly unused and poorly-maintained. SMH

It's good to call out the government but all these Celebrities can also register a Co-operative Society and start assisting the government and sensitising the Public. Government is the collective effort of the people to ensure sanity in the society.
Why wait for “celebrities”?
Nigeria is the product of all of our actions and inactions.

DISGUSTING SUBSERVIENT GROVELING... angry

The OP can dig up a thousand pictures showing white people courtesying to their royals (not sure why he/she felt the need to go all the way to Britain, when we Nigerians/Africans regularly courtesy to our own royals/ traditional rulers - other than colo-mentality). But I bet that he cannot post just ONE single picture of an elected Senator/Legislator in an advanced democracy kneeling for an elected President. NOT ONE!!

Isnt a crematory a place to cremate (burn) bodies, a growing choice for many in the West?
If the bodies were discovered there, it means a crime had been committed (at least misdemeanor for improperly disposing of human remains plus some sort of felony fraud). The discovery would definitely lead to charges, thats the way things work in any advanced/ decent society.
While i am not aware of that incident, it probably is the basis for an episode of Law and Order that i watched.
My experience in the USA is respect for both the living and the dead. Have visited many states here over many years, never once saw a dead body lying on the street or a dis organized burial ground. EVERY burial ground i have seen and there have been many, have all wowed me like is this really a burial ground?
No where on Earth is perfect, but there is nothing like a society that purses order, decency and punishes crime.
Dude, EVERY (all virtually every, bit definitely all Nigerian/African) culture respect the dead...

Thus, if you see something disrespectful of the dead ANYWHERE (including the US or Nigeria), it is not the norm. The only difference is that some societies have more resources (not necessarily more respect) and capacity to more quickly redress problems and/deviations. Nonetheless, if you watched John Oliver’s “Last Week Tonight” show on HBO about 2 weeks again, which focused on coroners, you would have discovered the rather unacceptable frequent recurrence of corpse desecration, mishandling and even abuse in the US. And these are not just the cases of people desecrating head stones, or young people shitting, peeing, smoking weed, having sex, etc. in cemeteries.

Does it happen everyday in the US? It's very unusual for things like that to take place in the US thats why the media like CNN, BBC buzz hard.

It is not unusual a news in Nigeria. It happens almost everyday.

And you know what hypocrisy is? It's simply when boko haram kidnaps over a hundred children in Broad day light from schools and your concern is less than 4 casualties in the US. Why deceive yourself?
Mass shootings in the US averages MORE THAN ONCE DAILY!

Again, not seeking to compare tragedies or criminality (because they are ALL bad) nor apples with oranges, but in 2017 there were 577 mass shootings in the US (mass shootings defined as involving 4 or more victims), and nearly 40,000 deaths from gun violence in 2018 (which by definition does not include non-fatal victims of gun violence). In contrast, do not hear of people being pushed off a bus everyday in Nigeria.

It personally pains me to relieve the horrific statistics, but who exactly told you casualties of US mass shootings in schools are “less than 4 casualties”? Sandy Hook Elementary School were 27 deaths, mostly infants. Parkland, Florida (Stoneman Douglas High) were 17, while Columbine High School were 13, and Virginia Tech were 32, among so many others so numerous to count.

The foregoing are just school shootings, where parents sent their innocent kids to school and they returned in body bags. At least Boko Haram is terrorism and a low grade war (an insurgency), which is not any more “normal” as the attack on the World Trade Centers was. Again, the unfortunate reality is that crime and criminality is a universal phenomena. Acting like it’s peculiar to Nigeria is just obtuse.

May the souls of all the dearly departed innocents rest in eternal peace!

What about Abraham that left his ancestral home? Or the English folk that left for the Americas on the Mayflower? Forget all that rubbish about ancestral land bro. Have you even been to the average burial ground in Nigeria? You will weep for the desd. Come see burial ground for obodo oyinbo, even poor man grave, you go think say na emperor the man be when he dey live.
Na America i dey see electricity on top grave.
Tell me when last you visited the gravesite of ANY of your ancestors that have died?
You mean like the almost 350 rotting and decomposed unburied bodies discovered at the Tri-State Crematory in Georgia a few years back? shocked

The reality is that most poor folk in a place like the US and cremated and/or crammed into mass graves (in my original hometown of NYC, it’s out on the isolated island known as Potters’ Field). And of course a fair number of people donate their remains for medical research.

I think Africans often make too much of an emotional investment in so-called “ancestral land” (often forgetting that most humans only settled where they ended up after migrating from somewhere else), but that is frankly no different than the original owners of North America (the Native Americans) and several others do. Nonetheless, the emotional pull to return is family, extended family and community - not a piece of earth. Accordingly, as more people emigrate and congregate elsewhere, that pull will weaken but unlikely to ever completely go away.

Oga forget that thing... We both know you are deceiving yourself. Just imagine if that woman had died, you'll still be saying people should live with their ancestors.

Forget... If you have chance to rewrite history and correct the anomaly by breeding your children in a better country, you'd better do and stop deceiving yourself...
Without seeking to compare apples with oranges...
Would her death be any worse than sending kids to school only for them to shot up in the US? Sadly, crime is universal.
