Afobear: See mumu ...where are they so called fantastic players now ? And where are the players of the other countries at the same WC? Of the Spain team we beat in the final, ONLY David de Gea really made the step up to become an established international. The failure of youth international stars to progress all the way to full senior international stardom is actually much rarer than most Nigerians appear to think (or be aware of), perhaps because we in Nigeria have been more successful than most nations in transiting many of our youth internationals into Super Eagles players. Accordingly, of the 2007 U17 WC teams, England only had Danny Rose from that tournament, while the likes of Brazil and Argentina had ZERO making the step up to established senior international status. Corruption is a reality that has eaten deep into the fabric of Nigeria's national lives, but unfortunately it appears that Nigerians have become intellectually lazy and ascribe about everything and every failure to corruption. The problem with that is that it prevents proper introspection that would help us avoid future pitfalls. . |

Those are words that the older folks can relate with. If you have anyone in your family 60 and above show him this comment then come back to me. Okay? TheAngry1: I believe the story 100% See the Alaba story, see the current Flying Eagles team, see how Adrian Akande was asked to dump England and then not even given a cap. I pray we never ever employ a home base coach for the Super Eagles again. Have you ever seen Adrian Akande play? Btw, I have not either, but do not presume that he's better than those playing just because he was born abroad. At the youngest levels, raw talent is arguably the single most important factor in football. Nigeria's problem is the failure to progressively develop talent from the youth ranks through to the senior levels, for at the more senior levels of the game many other factors (including football education) come into play. |

Do your research, monetize my foot, these labels mean business so whatever you make they would take a huge portion. All that glitters is not gold! God forbid the artiste does not make the numbers, do you also think a label like that will give you creative control? PS: Meanwhile, you still have have NOT established how this international deal puts her in any greater disadvantage than staying with local labels. Are local labels charitable organizations with no interest in making money? I mean, we have heard that Yahoo Boys are some of the biggest backers of Nigeria's music industry, but surely those dudes did not put themselves at so much risks just to dash money to local artistes? |

Why should labels make money off artistes? Is there any employer (or business partner) that does not seek to make money off employees (or the partnership)? Labels (like employers/partners) invest in artistes with the expectation of recouping their investments and making a bit of profit (heck, a handsome profit) on top? It's known as MUTUALITY OF INTERESTS! In effect, it's in both parties interests to be successful! . |

LearnITsmash: Marriage is not for everyone, especially ladies like Eva who has slept with over 100 men in her lifetime, and so it will be incredibly difficult for her to stay loyal to a man, adopt all you want nobody cares you exist Another way to look at it is that she fully sown her wild oats and will now be faithful to a spouse... Compare that with the 15-year-old whose marriage was published on NL recently, wishing her the very best of luck but reasonable certain she will likely be a completely DIFFERENT person by the time she hits her 20s/30s. |

mknigeriagreat: Let me tell you a story you can read it up. In a state in the US, two plots of land was acquired and same vegetables planted on each. About 50 people were employed and divided into two. 25 will go to plot A and be saying goof words to those vegetables and blessing it. 25 will go to plot B and be cursing it using abusive words. Under two months, about 95% of the vegetables went dry in plot B. They just did the research to prove that words are powerful and very effective irrespective of who is speaking those words.
Why i wrote these words is to tell you that from today, the moment you post anything that has to do with this scam, we will always collectively curse you on this forum and keep cursing you till your life becomes miserable and you cant afford even 100 naira airtime for data. Mark my words. Fellow nairalanders, let us start cursing all these nuisance.
FROM TODAY YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER MAKE MEANING AGAIN ON THIS PLANET. YOU WILL ALWAYS BEG TO EAT EVERYDAY Old wives tale... But the substantive point holds up. |
Celebrities › Re: People Who Help Sick Actors Shouldn’t Publicise It – Joke Silva by 9jaRealist: 9:37am On May 05, 2019 |
Aunty Joke, I respectfully disagree...
A GOOD reason to publicize philanthropy is to PROMOTE the spirit of philanthropy among the general population (particularly among those who admire celebrities). Furthermore, while I would ordinarily agree that donors should not make their donations seemingly about themselves, it is better to help than not to - and if publicity (even self-publicly) is what motivates people to help, that’s a relatively small price to pay, and at the end of the day the donors’ personal motivation makes little or no difference to the recipient(s)!
Recently, my uncle was watching Femi Otedola donate US dollars for Christian Chukwu’s medical treatment (a football player that apparently brought a lot of pride and joy to his generation and Nigeria), and it virtually moved him to tears and rekindled his faith in humans and Nigeria! |

Nat404: Hey everyone, any English which is non standard is wrong. In school, you are taught to speak and write standard English. I studied with native speakers and I know what I'm talking about. Some of these American English you read online is wrong like I wanna, I'm gonna and so on.
I can't ask my children to start using "flewed" instead of "flown" because some crazy artists used it otherwise I will put their education in jeopardy out there. NO, that's incorrect... Even the English themselves use colloquialisms. The funny thing is that many of today's "standard" English have non-standard origins. Language (like culture itself) is always EVOLVING! |
