How does that stop a building from collapsing??

Nigerians and misplaced priorities
While it may not stop the building itself from collapsing, it may stop the location of a school in the building.

I stay in the same Street with the building (collapsed) the fault is with the government agency responsible for marking weak structures and demolition cos they didn't follow up after the building has been marked for more than two years
Sometimes when the Building Control Agency shows up to demolish/close down buildings or building sites, people in the neighborhood fight them.

So what if the school was never registered, what does it have to do with the collapsed building? What exactly is the requirement for registering if not to pay a large fee every year? The owner was very smart, he chose to save his money instead. What i'm perplexed about is how all those guys in this picture have flat tummy and 6 packs, is it hunger or is it from their daily activities? I go to the gym 5 days a week, do push up, lift dumbell, do squats, do dead lift, do crunches and I still have no 6 pack. Maybe its not in my genes. Do you know that in 1994, Rashidi Yekini became the first player to score in the worldcup where Nigeria defeated Bulgaria 3-0?
Presumably registration would require an inspection of the school’s physical facilities, and assuming the inspection reveals the school is situated in a suspect building then perhaps it would be denied registration which hopefully would cause it to relocate.

FamilyRe: My Woman Wears Very Short And Tight Outfits. I Cautioned Her, This Is Happening by 9jaRealist: 3:31am On Mar 14, 2019
Souqwaqif:
I Want The Best For Her But She Seems Not To Understand, Pls Advice Needed

Dear All, good evening.

When I first met my woman, I met her decently dressed, since she is from a Christian background, likewise my very self.

But as time goes on I discovered she puts on dresses that are either too tight or too short. I have corrected her in love several times and even reported to her parents, she adjusted for a while and continued again.

She even promised to stop such dresses because of our baby girl.

This time around she put on a very short gown that makes her look like a prostitute on her WhatsApp profile.

On seeing it, I replied that I am ashamed and disappointed in her and as a result I refuse giving her the money she demanded.

She knows why I was angry and why i made such comment and instead of her to apologize she told her mother that I said I was ashamed and disappointed in her, her mother called me to ask me why I said such, I explained to her that its because I have been correcting her on her dressing but this one was too bad, she said OK and that's all.

Its over 5 days now I have not heard any thing from her and her mum. So I just kept silent too because the last that happened I was the one that called for a meeting with her parents to sort it out.

This time around I may not do such again.

However, if there is a better way you can advise me on this I will appreciate. Since her dad may not be in the know.

Thanks
Quit trying to control an adult’s life - especially with money (in fact, that makes you the one treating her like a prostitute). SMH

First, if you cared about her so much, you should have put a ring on it. Nonetheless, change is the only constant in life and as we age we change. If you no longer the way she dresses, and after discussing it she persists with her new taste in clothing, then move along and go find someone else who dresses like the puritanical handmaiden that you are apparently seeking (and hope that one will also not subsequently flip on you). Sadly, it appears that you both decided to bring a child into the world (seemingly without the benefit of matrimony, but that makes no substantive difference really) and that means that you will be in each other’s lives one way or another for many years into the future.

PS: Btw, there are many actual prostitutes who wear so-called “decent” clothes. Try to be with a good person and not simply one who looks it.

Are you suffering a comprehension deficit? shocked

Of course, it’s not a state road so why expect Ambode to “commission” it?
Isn’t it enough that he has taken over and will likely “commission” the federal Airport Expressway?

Simply because Lagos is progressing. Besides, other parties in Lagos especially PDP dnt have a better agenda they only show up during electioneering period. After election is over, they have nothing to offer and they remain dead till the coming election.
I don’t know much about SE politics, but you could make a similar argument...
None of the other parties seem to offer anything there, and their electoral candidates always seem to be PDP dissidents.

PDP as a party knows you have got no choice than to vote for them even when they under perform. Until you guys become wise politically before you experience progress.
So how come you are not advocating for such “competition” in Lagos? shocked

Good

When is Ambode going to commission Lagos Badagry expressway?
In the 16 years of Tinubu’s and Fashola’s governorship, how come they did not “commission” Badagry Expressway - or indeed any other expressway? Heck, it took Ambode removing some of the roundabouts and rebuilding/signalizing several junctions on the toll-scam Lekki Expressway to alleviate the bottlenecks created on that ARM (Tinubu) cash cow. BusinessRe: Why You Should Worry Again About The Central Bank’s New Forex Ban by 9jaRealist: 10:15pm On Mar 12, 2019
It’s NOT a ban on imports of textiles.

The CBN is merely saying that it will not sell its forex to importers of textiles, and do they have to source their own forex.

all mouth.

In case you don't know, presidential candidates as well as their spouses and children get state security protection in the United States.

You wouldn't dare go near them, except they are having a well-planned public meet up.

Have you forgotten how an elderly journalist was body slammed for insisting on getting close to Obama. Well, that is what you would get if you dared to go near Trump when he was contesting.
So that slapper was from the DSS then?! cheesy

If a US presidential candidate (heck, even a president) has some random dude slap a citizen for merely getting close to the candidate, such a candidate would be dragged through the mud and the slapper would face prosecution (btw, even Secret Service personnel do not have the freedom to arbitrarily assault people - that’s why you see so many policemen in the US facing criminal charges and prosecution). Accordingly, when Mr Trump was a candidate, his campaign manager Corey Lawendoski face an assault and battery probe for merely putting his hands on a female reporter. Your posts sadly indicate an lack of knowledge of how politicians in advanced and civilized democracies conduct themselves. They actually seek to ingratiate themselves with the common folk (drinking beer and eating hotdogs, etc), not elevate themselves above. SMH

BTW, so freaking proud of the dad! cool

It would have been so easy not to be bothered by these so-called “female issues” - and in the process teach his daughter a NEGATIVE practical lesson in dealing with authority figures, and that’s where tolerance (or non-resistance) of everything from sexism, sexual harassment to misogyny and even domestic/marital abuse starts to take root.
EducationRe: Nigerian dad reacts after daughter's school forced her to losen her braided hair by 9jaRealist: 8:00pm On Mar 12, 2019
Some of the “obey the rules” drivel being spewed here epitomizes a reason Nigeria remains in its present state - Rankadede/Dobale mentality!

One of the primary reasons foreign investors and businesses hate to do business in Nigeria or even to come at all is the OPAQUE nature of rules, regulations and enforcement thereof in Nigeria. Proper Rules should not be what the Oga (or Mistress) at the Top arbitrarily decides to pull out of his/her backside on any given morning, and in the event that there is an alleged violation of any properly laid-down rule there should always be a settled transparent and predictable process to adjudge/penalize the violator. TRANSPARENCY (and thus predictability) in substance and process is one of the critical differences between ordered civilized societies and dictatorships/banana republics/zoos!

Furthermore, while a healthy respect (not worship) for authority is necessary in civilized societies, so also is a healthy skepticism of authority and authoritarianism. If all people acted like robots and zombies, merely obeying the Last Order, there would be no social progress in the world. Accordingly, the relevant questions in this case should start with what purpose does this so-called “rule” serve? Sadly, some Nigerians fail to grasp that the nations that make the most progress are those where individualism and individual freedoms are allowed to flourish.

I just don't know what's so special about these celebrities ooo, aside d little money they make what else?
They created a whole INDUSTRY virtually out of nothing that directly and indirectly employs TEN OF THOUSANDS OF NIGERIANS without any help at all the Nigerian government, in addition to entertaining most of us and thereby helping us alleviate the struggles of daily life in Nigeria. In addition, that industry that they created have generated veritable GOODWILL for Nigeria and towards Nigerians all across the globe (when otherwise our principal reputation had been as drug smugglers and dealers, 4-1-9ers, fraudsters and conmen). In a remotely-civilized country, these will be the folks being honored with National Honors and such honoraria, rather than thieving incompetent politicians.
