fk001:Only the North can't decide the future of the nation. Nigerian unity is very negotiable, it can be negotiated by all the participating units to form the country |
rexwalters:When the British left Nigeria in 1960, less than 5% of Nigerians live in urban areas, we don't have any thermal power plant or Hydropower plan. We generate less than 500mega watt of electricity of over 45m people then. When the colonial master left Nigeria, we only have two railway like built to link the exterior to Lagos port to ease the movement of raw materials only to Great Britain. These lines were built without proper consideration for the movement of people or better communication that will automatically lead to high productivity. The British experiment was purely exploitative one, they left the country worse than they met it. They lump people with nothing in common without making any effort to unite them, they drew a line on paper with proper consultation of the people living in this geographical entities. People achieve more with people they share things in common with. The Yoruba nation with a population of 45m people will be one of the most populous nations in western Europe if it were to be an independent country (after Germany, Italy, Spain, and Great Britain ) |
Aboki99:What are you saying? Southwestern Nigeria which includes Yoruba land and old empire has been civilized for ages. This organized system of government you keep shouting about only came with the Usman dan fodio revolution in the 19th century before then most of the Hausa state was a city-state. I am Yoruba and I know the history of my people, the old Oyo empire was the largest empire in what we call Nigeria as of 14th century, it was so powerful that we have organized a system of government. Nigeria is an artificial state with ethnic groups that have nothing in common and there is no such thing as a southerner. The Yorubas of southwestern Nigeria have been building empires, living in organized society for thousands of years before the colonial master |
zone51:Racism isn't merely verbal, the verbal part of racism is not what people are fighting. Racism is institutional, it is a belief that someone is less than human just because of his skill color. When you are prosecuted by the institution of the state because of your skin color it is as a result of racism When you at the bottom of the social ladder of the society because of your skin color that is racism When you are judged based on the preconceived notion that you can never be intelligent enough to live in a society as equal based on skin color that is racism. Most Nigerians in this part of the world don't know the extends and gravity of how racism as affected black minority in western world |
lilbest4:You have read up on slavery my friend. It is too simplistic to say our forebearer sold their brothers into slavery. Slavery is as old human civilization but it wasn't as cruel as those practices by the white European of the 17/18th century. It was practice on an industrial scale, African slaves were dehumanized using different pseudo-science to make it acceptable. The slaves were not sold by their family members but captivity of war, the majority of these wars were a result of inter-tribal war instigated by same white European and religion (especially in the north). |
dotcodotuk:The Hausas are a majority in the Niger Republic, that explains Buhari popularity there |
D1O:Yes I do |

We must bind together, put our mutual distrust aside whether Yoruba or igbo, else they would make our generations Muslim.I don't know why most of you are Islamophobic. Islam is not a problem but poverty and illiteracy together with religious extremism is the problem. I don't have any problem with an average Igbo or Hausa man but I will be fearful of an extremely illiterate and religious individual of any faith or ethnicity. Poverty+illiteracy+religious extremism +tribalism is a very dangerous combo. All monotheist religions have a very dangerous doctrine that can make an extremely poor and ignorant individual do bad thing |
Shaprara:Fatai was a disaster has a governor. No road project, no pipe born water, No serious government investment in rural areas to reduce poverty. apart from one small bridge that has been under construction around Garin Alimi for 2 years, no other major project within Ilorin municipal area. I just left the city for Abuja today, the city is a mess. Fatai and anything that has any form of alliance with saraki must be uprooted away from Kwara state |
puresaint:I just came back from Ilorin today, most people on the ground are highly disappointed in Sasaki and all he stands for. People are really tired of his mismanagement of the state |
marvinsync:It is called per capita income, not per capita GDP and the list you provided is outdated. Some southwestern states are generally richer than southeastern states. States like Lagos, Ogun, and Ondo state have better PCI than any states in the southeast. |
Kwamecron:What does the common man benefit from these ventures in the first place? The government has no business doing business in a country as diverse and corrupt has Nigeria. NNPC is the most corrupt government firm in Nigeria, it is the single largest drain on our resources in Nigeria, billions of dollars are been stolen on yearly basis and the firm adds no value to the economy whatsoever. A country like Brazil has Petrobras, a fully privatized energy firm that is more efficient and more profitable than NNPC, what we have is a corruption incubator that takes millions of dollars for routine maintenance of refineries, yet we still import refine petroleum product to the tune of $8.2b per annum. Any serious government will fully privatize NNPC, Ajaokuta, and all other moribund industries |
qwertyboss:How has the imported religion helped Africans? |
abbey621:I don't need to Google South Korea, I have done an extensive research on all the so-called Asia tigers. SK never started off as a developed country with the institution and know how to prosecute and sentence a former president to jail. In fact, it was very poor and corrupt in the 60s. Most of the work was done in the 70s, 80s to build this institution and industrialized the nation through controlled state enterprise, most of these industries were owned by the ruling elite, at this time corruption was still rife but a majority of the stolen money was reinvested back into the local economy, the reason for my earlier comment about negative and positive corruption. Institution to prosecute corrupt politicians just don't come overnight, you have to build an environment, economy and society that will build an institution and you need a highly qualified individual to pull this off not some ex-military general that got everything in life through quota system |
abbey621:Corruption is not the problem but ability to build a nation, institution, and economy that will solve the problem of the populace. At the top of my head, I can list 10 more pressing issues than the corruption that you all like to talk about. Throughout the 58 years of Nigeria existence as an independent nation, we have had the misfortune of been ruled for a majority of this time by clueless people due to the military intervention. We have had leaders that had squandered a majority of our oil wealth to gross incompetence, fail to develop any meaningful infrastructure and diversify the economy. Most far east Asian nation like South Korea and Taiwan were able to develop because they have competent people in place direct the affairs of the nation. Read about the positive corruption of southeast Asia |
abbey621:Education is important my friend!! Nigeria is such a shitty country because of mentality like yours, you need the education to lead a nation, to formulate policies, to chatter a path for a progressive society. Buhari is one of the most clueless Nigeria president ever because he lacks all the requirement to even lead a local government no to talk of a country has big and diverse as Nigeria. He doesn't understand anything relating to the economy, the rule of law, foreign politics, domestic affairs of the nation and everything you will expect from a leader of a nation. Democracy will never work in Nigeria because we are too stupid, divided, and preoccupied with religion to pull it off. We just live in a nation where a man with an intellect as worst as a laborer is the president only because of his tribe and religion |
Simbrixton:You have a valid point, sir. From my own point of view, opinions on nairaland are a reflection of the deep hatred have for one another as people which is a symptom of an utterly failed nation. Nigeria was designed by the British to fail, no matter how well we try we will all remain a fail nation not because we don't have the capacity as black people to build a first world nation like those of North America, western Europe, or those in far east Asia but because we don't have the platform or foundation to build on. Nigeria is not a nation and will never be a nation the earlier we all know this and plan how to live together either with each of the major ethnic group operating as a semi-autonomous nation within the commonwealth called Nigeria or we all go our separate ways. The only thing keeping us together is the crude oil of the Niger Delta, no that the oil has solved any of our problems but it has been enough to line the pocket of our corrupt elite and finance all the stupid socialist policies brought by the northern political elites. I am a Yoruba and I have no problem with igbos residing in any part of Yoruba land but I will gladly welcome an independent southwestern Nigeria, a nation free from the shackles of backwardness, religious intolerance, a progressive nation of over 45m people with common ancestor will be ready to work and progress like all first world nations |
Simbrixton:Ethnicity really matters. Most European wars in 18th and early 19th century were ethnically induced, you can't build a nation with people with totally different ideology and way of life, reasons why most African countries are a fail state. These countries were drawn up by the colonial masters without consulting the locals, without paying attention to the cultural makeup of the locals. If you look closely, western Europe has the highest number of balkanized nations on earth, the most populous western European nation is the German with about 80m people. A country like Belgium with only 11.5m people is still fighting to split based on the ethnicity of the Walloon and Flemish, the same thing in Spain with Catalonia. It is really not a black man thing but humanity generally achieve more with people they share lots of things in common with. |
FriendNG:Funny dude, who is the slave here? |
Ashley86400:Most of North Africa and the Horn of Africa in the list are not really Arabs. Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Mauritania are Arabized barbers and turrek majority nation while Sudan and Somalia are arabized black African nation |
Hotfreezer:Turkish are not Arab despite being a majority Muslim country. Turkish are Turks, a southern European group. |
deomelo:Oga this one na Urban shelter property o. This is a privately own estate sir |
Tundeobama:I am a Muslim from Ondo state and I'm not an immigrant. There is a sizeable number of Muslim of Akoko area in Ondo state. |
Nowenuse:This man is always on top of his game, you really know the region thoroughly. People will be shocked with how the election will pan out, the only saving grace for Buhari in the north-west and Nigeria is the way people have him to a defender of Islam in the region. People don't know that the Northwest and east is home to millions of liberal Muslim, those whose means of livelihood has been affected greatly by Buhari poor economic performance, these set of people will happily vote for atiku . My projection will be Atiku/Buhari Northwest 35/65 Northeast 45/55 Northcentral 60/40 Southwest 55/45 Southeast 85/15 South-south 75/25 |
BabaIbo:It is laughable to compare the cost of houses in the two area. I have worked and both Lagos and Abuja and I can categorically say that Suleja is much cheaper and safer to live than most places in Lagos. The moat expensive 2 to 3 bedroom flat you will see in GRA in Suleja with uninterrupted water supply, big yard, and cool environment is N350 to N400k. The same house in a similar location with a similar amenities will cost almost a million in Lagoa |
Look at this beautiful low budget low pitch roof work just completed Suleja Niger state
|
If you have a similar project you can contact us for the free quote and roof design, we can also help you get the materials at market rate, anywhere in Nigeria |
We are starting off with this lovely semi-detached two units of 2 bedroom flat @ Anambra.

drizzle25:Some of these villages in Abuja are really terrible, I will never advice anyone to live in them. Any accommodation below N300k in the actual city center is actually a death trap and will moat likely going to be in a huge ghetto. |
Rottymy:Not that really far, if you are driving, more like 30minutes |
Suleja is a nice to live but you have to choose your area very well. I will advise anyone coming down here to look out for the following area 1. Low-cost GRA Suleiman barrau way 2. Back of Sarafina 3. APC quarters 5 Low-cost Kwamba 6. B division 7. Back of begger paint In some of these areas, you will have access to all the basic infrastructure like road, pipe-borne and relatively stable electricity You will need to have a car because there is no mass transportation system in place, unless if you are comfortable with comfortable with a motorcycle. Food is cheap, accommodation is affordable, good schools are relatively affordable and if you are male, you will find a lot of crazy football lover to hang out with during the weekends Places to avoid are the old section of the town dominated by the core Northerners because we have lots of uneducated, drug abuser youth in these areas. You will definitely enjoy your stay here |
