Can You Imagine That And I Quite Agree With Him Simply Because He's Always On The Field Unlike The Lazy Lectures Who Just Go Online To Download And Print To Give To Students Without Practical To Know If The Info Is Outdated Or Not. believe it or not, I'm not surprised by your experience.that is a common occurrence in Nigerian higher institutions. |

The Whole Educational Sector Needs A Total Revamp If You Ask. Technical Schools Needs To Be Given More Credibility Cos Great Nations Build On Practicals Not Just Copy And Paste Theory Without Verifying What We Were Taught. do you believe that in some universities abroad, computer science students enrolls in only four courses in a semester, each four units load and highly qualitative and practical oriented, example university of Canterbury. |

Thanks young man. There is nothing like "faulty Machineries" but "Faulty Machinery". It is an uncountable now like information (not informations), aircraft (not aircrafts), sheep (not sheeps), equipment (not equipments) etc.
First, I don't work in a cassava milling factory. even though I am working there with a good pay in the recession, thanks to God for the provision of that. Garri is too expensive in this recession now. so, cassava milling factories in this country are making it big with more profit.
I am working with one of Toyota Motor Corporation divisions in Nigeria. We are affiliated to Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan. We deal on all Toyota vehicles including Lexus. Sometimes, we assemble here in Nigeria at the workshop. I work under AC with a demarcated transparent glass , the other side of it we have plasma and the customer lounge.
I hardly use spanners for loosening and tightening bolts and nuts. We use a tyre gum for that which is also known as Rotary Machine. please what is the price for a Toyota hilux,i don't mind buying an older model as long as it's brand new. |

kenny1111: hmmmm, I quite understand where d OP is coming from and where D OP is tryna land cos iv bin there. to be sincere with u Education is completely unfair to lots in ds country.......let me share my personal experience, I grad 4rm UI in 2010 with a 2.1 in mathematics, done with service in 2013 within 2010-2013 I have spent a huge sum of money on Acca bt when I realized I cant sustain to foot d bill anymore, help was comin from no where, I borrowd to pay 2013 yearly annual due, I was looking so haggard and my life was going SOUTH/BAD so i pause am till date.i was done with fundamentals which is equivalent to first degree 4 those who understand but I had to pause academics and face naija reality
In december 2013, I opened a barber shop and I can tell u today with all boldness dt my friend who are working and earning around 80k cant do yanga 4me cos i can categorically say im better than takn 20k teaching job cos sey i study math, i have job security, got a piece of land, a car, peace of mind and employer of Labour, in my area I know of a barber shop dt pays 30k 4each of his 2 stylist s, ds senior boss makes around 12 to 15k a day, d last tym I check, im paying 15k for mine, the bottom line is i have bin far better doing ds handwork than d first 3yrs wen i was pursuing wht is nt very realistic 4d downtrodded in naija. 4me, I quite agree that there's transfer of knowledge expecially from Acca cos it thought me lots of managerial skils and biznes so it cant be under estimated cos I didnt av 10% idea of barbin, till date i dont barb bt i can cos iv learnt on the job and my shop is now a barbin school with not less than 4 apprentice presently haven't graduated some of them recently and presently working on partnerin with Nysc in state to train interested ajuwaya (not 4free) bt den I bank on my managerial/biz skills. guys, d point is even if i am a ACCA chartered by now, i may remain jobles for countless of yrs in Nigeria, i av lots of chartered ican and acca folks jobless and or either managin with peanuts....A fried of mine av spent almost 2yrs nw after returning 4rm UK he just took up union bank marketin job last month after 2yrs spending millions in UK studyn Msc in system network bla bla bla..... yes, if i av another chance. I will never overlook education as I blv my 2.1 in mathematics will not jst be a waste bt will work d journey differently cos there are so many ways 2b educated so if u are lucky 2gt a job by whatever means after lvn school then remember d last unemployed statistics in naija na 70millions so u are just lucky/grace i made bold 2say. I'm feeling you bro,i think you consider moving abroad for your postgraduate studies, a friend with a 2.1 in mathematics did so many years ago,she didn't even spend more than three months in nysc, check it out online and probably go for a direct PhD since it would likely be free in your field. however, consider buying or ddownloading some books first to brush up yourself first since what we learn in schools here are usually inadequate. |

It still didn't make it the right thing to do,worse still encouraging others. Nigerians are getting smarter and the pharmaceutical council is becoming aware and sooner or later, the head of the business will have to go to school and pharmacy to continue the business. i believe it's perfectly legal around the world, even pharmaceutical manufacturing companies are often owned by non pharmacists, they just employ cheap pharmacists to avoid legal troubles, also with the availability of private universities now, their children can easily get degrees in pharmacy as long as they can afford to pay. |

I have done countless favours for ladies who I did not want to sleep with for the following reasons. 1. They were not hygienic. 2. They were lazy spongers. 3. They were not pretty and Sexy. 4. hUmaneOne: do not let these these failures sweet talk you.
For some disciplines your degree can not be a waste. Eg.in Law and medicine's practice you utilize all you are taught in school Any tom, dick and harry cannot practice those profession without the degree... you're right but in reality, many people still practice this in this fields without the paper certificates by using other peoples certificate, for example, my mums family are heavily into importation of pharmaceuticals for about two decades now using a relative who is a pharmacist but knows nothing about the pharmaceuticals trading business as a cover, the pharmacist in use is a church rat compared to them and he can't do shit because there's always another pharmacist who would provide the same cover at the same price, a young Guy that apprenticed under the traders actually have more hope of making it more in life than the pharmacist. now deal with that. |

AmbodOfLASU: Yes, if you play your cards well, your connection starts from the University as an undergraduate. It depends on how sharp you are anyway. I know of people whose connections began from the University as undergraduate due to their relationship with their Professors and members of the University Management (the VC or any other top administrator). One of my friend needed a temporary job as an undergraduate, being a close friend to their University Vice Chancellor in UNIPORT, only a call from their VC to the Head of that company got him the job. The job(part time) fetched him over 70k per month now. Now imagine when he graduates? his personal connection got him the job not what he learnt at school, a wealthy uncle could even get him a better job with just a phone call, the question remains, can he confidently say that what he learnt in school was worth it? |

Go read more about cadres of field you have no knowledge of... .. It's Nigerian system that need factory reset and not the graduates.. If engineer can easily find jobs in Total, Agip, NNPC, Ford Motor,.Peugeot, Toyota, TCN, Power generating companies,,Microsoft, HP, Apple, Foxcom, Nokia etc.. Economist/Accountants can also easily get in PWCooper, Banks, financial institutions.... Doctors/Nurses also finding and practicing their profession in the health sector easily.... All graduate getting a job strictly relating to their fields of study then everything will get back on track. Experience is,a most and after years of experience in your field the next step is self employment to give way for other graduates. you're actually making very little sense, why should those companies give you those jobs when they have better trained fellows from places like India, Pakistan, Europe and north America? remember we're talking about the university education system in Nigeria |

XaintJoel20: Gosh! This is ridiculous and absurd. Situations like this make those that didn't attain tertiary education think they are better off. Recently I was discussing with a graduate of computer science who I met at a building site where he was serving cement and bricks to Mason that didn't see the four walls of a primary school. The guy have also gone further to acquire divers certifications and have done professional examinations with success. I was shocked beyond imagination when he told me blatantly " I regret going to school. If the time and money I invested in my education has been invested in some other ventures, by now I would have been comfortable" This is what tertiary education has been reduced to in Nigeria computer science is one of the most abused fields in Nigeria's higher education system, it's a painful tragedy. |

ngobaby2264: Why do average students in Nigeria become excellent when they travel abroad, it's simpler and because of the education. To me, my education is a waste. I studied microbiology. In my school you are not even expected to read wide. Just garbage in garbage out. Just give exactly what was given in the note and you are a straight A student. You must know how to cram. I found out very late, in my 300 level. Most times I read with text book, and during exams, I explain it the best way I understood but it didn't help ha ha, that approach denied me an a once and it was very painful, the lecturer actually didn't understand the textbook except she photocopied and ended up teaching us the wrong thing and marking it the right answer, i have also noticed that most lecturers especially in the north, are not even teaching what they studied, imagine a fisheries graduate teaching chemistry in a state polytechnic in the north? i rest my case. |

greatwhite: Knowledge is never a waste. I have two degrees. I don't use the knowledge I got from them. I personally think education is overrated. Nigeria has entered a face China was 15years ago. In which young people have to be self sufficient. entrepreneurial skills is the most important here. The truth is education would never give you that.
We have over 25million unemployed graduate. 75% of these figure would never get a stable employment. In 30 years time if u ask them if their degree was a waste. They would tell you yes. For those who have figured it out now. The answer is a big yes.
You don't need a degree to succeed. Using your degree for paid employment would never make you self sufficient. It would only make you financially average all through life. using your degree for paid employment hardly makes you average, my Guy with a bsc physics was given a job by a secondary school under the request that he should teach full time and not have another teaching job elsewhere, his salary 10k per month, the Guy walked away. i have also noticed that most of those claiming that their degree was not a waste of time have generally failed to to tell us why. please let us back up our answers with reason, after all the university is supposed to teach us how to think. |
