When I said Jehovah doesn't go above the standards he set, you should've asked what I meant rather running straight to conclusions.

Why do you think Jesus Christ(Michael), the firstborn and only begotten Son of Jehovah God had to come down to the earth to give his life on the torture stake?

After Adam sinned, he lost his perfect life and brought upon sin and death to all of us (Romans 5:12)
Why didn't Jehovah just say “I'll forgive the children of Adam and make all of them perfect” just like that? Because of his own principle he follows: “A life for a life”—Exodus 21:23

All of us—Adam's descendants are imperfect so none of us can redeem/rescue ourselves from slavery to sin and death—Psalm 49:7-9

So Jesus had to offer up his own perfect life as a ransom on the torture stake to make up for the perfect life that Adam had but lost.—Matthew 20:28, 1Corinthians 15:47, 1Timothy 2:5,6
So that by just exercising faith in Jesus, we can be redeemed from sin and death, have a good conscience and later on, gain everlasting life—John 3:16, 6:40, Romans 6:23, 1John 5:13

That's just one example, there are others.

I would have responded but you aren’t answering me by your own words (for you have grafted in sentences from your online resources): For each word I have spoken, you have responded with someone else’s words.

I end by saying God is One and He has always been one. The most important question is: Have you been washed in the Blood of the Lamb? Are you living a Holy and Righteous life? You have no need to answer those questions.

Have a lovely time wherever you are.

This is not complementing but simply, is just giving support and saying when God anthropomorphises, like for example, with His voice walking in the cool of the garden and asking A&E questions (i.e. Genesis 3:8-13, notice nothing was asked off the serpent though), He wasn't asking because He doesnt know, but the questioning was done for the benefit of them asked and posterity sake. When the Godhead came down to see what Nimrod & Co imagined they'll do. It wasn't because God didnt right from heaven know or see what they were up to, but He came to assert His authority and again make a point for the record that He appeared on scene. When God visited Sodom and Gomorrah, He didnt at all needed to, but for the sake of seen to be just and fair, made an appearance to His friend Abraham and posterity gained another insight into workings of the Mind of God. When Yahsua Ha Mashiach asked the disciples who do the people say He was. It wasn't because He ignorant or in the dark of how or what people perceive Him as, but the question was asked for the benefit of the disciples and again for posterity sake to learn from. We can go on and on discussing God and anthropomorphism for an indefinitely long time.

Incarnation, itself, is actually anthropomorphism on a heavy supernatural dose of steroids

DappaD, I appreciate your effort. It’s been nice knowing your view. One day, we will come to the full knowledge of God.

Dear MuttleyLaff,

(I have DappaD in my mind as I respond to you).

If God claims to be Omnipotent- is anything to difficult for Him to do? and He chooses to limit the display of His potency, He is either dubious in His claim or plain evil - as the scriptures say: “whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin." When a leader goes down into the mud his subordinates dwell, it is a wonderful way to express sympathy and encouragement to the downtrodden; as you said: it is for the benefit of them. If God is to be seen as just and fair, He must come down from His office and see what is happening on the floor. DappaD says it is based on God’s protocol; I say: whatsoever the protocol is, it must yield to time.

The atheist says God must be sleeping in His office or non-existent because He seems oblivious of what is happening down here; they also claim He is evil because He sees the mess and is incompetent to do anything, if He exists. My Kingdom Hall brothers say: God doesn’t have to come down from His office, He can send an angel to do His job and promote him if he does a good job; Well...God must be a couch potato like King Elgon?

God must come down, Himself. If He comes in terror, He is not merciful. If He comes waving an olive branch, the best He can do is to be patient with us to understand His motive.

Back to my brother Dappa, your conjunction “and” as you have always shown, joined to distinct individuals and now two angels; why did one of the angel speak to Abraham as His God, not saying “Thus saith the Lord” like angel Gabriel? If from antiquity, two individuals seem to walk side-by-side to judge the affairs of men, this seems like the setting of the Supreme Court where several judges, equal in rank, oversee a case. I fear (according to your idea) the Supreme Court of God in the last days would be unfair because the jury would be non-existent; No one, would counterbalance God’s excessive evaluation of things (since He hasn’t got a first hand experience) . The omnipotent God, as He claims, can’t morph into the jury, because He just can’t do what He says He can do. (If He can do so, it’s no longer the Supreme Court but a lesser court). And the evidence against some men would be tampered with because He didn’t find the truth of the situation for Himself, firsthand.

Don’t think on the last day that only God may do the judging alone; if He isn’t fair, He would be judged Himself.

First of all, you need to know that the Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient concept is false, so it doesn't apply to our own God! smiley

Our own God CAN'T go against his own standard because he always wants to prove himself to be a just God so he always make sure he doesn't do anything that contradicts his own rules. That's why he is not Omnipotent in the way you claim yours is!

Secondly regarding the case of Sodom and Gomorrah, it was an angel who represented God that visited Abraham and went down to destroy those cities NOT God himself! Sir! smiley

I saw your slur last night. After your derogatory language aimed at me, do you expect me to read your message? I said to myself, oh! It’s the ‘commander of the armies of the north’, what good does he have?

In my opinion, I don’t think you are saved; I also think you are not intelligent; I also believe that demonstration of the spirit isn’t in enticing words but is demonstrated in the power of one’s life - yours isn’t exemplary as I see you as divisive and cunning. You may respond to me like you do to some people by doing a copy-and-paste from jw.org’s ‘frequently asked questions’ answers but your bile is sequestered in them.

P.S.:I didn’t read your comment. So you know where I stand regarding you. I have been to the Kingdom Hall in the last two years, I would go when God allows me to. I read the Awake because I like them; so you know that I am not biased towards the JW. My life is too short for me to be partisan; if I must be dogmatic, so let it be but I will not be partisan.

I'm an engineer not a lawyer! smiley

Hello engineer. Why is a lawyer the Minister of Power and Works in your country? Why isn’t anyone from the NSE qualified for the job? Maybe lawyers are better than engineers in Nigeria because they are more knowledgeable and are willing to read and expand.

No man will ever be saved by the preaching of doctrine of the trinity or unity. If one glories in the belief of the trinity or the unitary of God, he glories in a vain thing. John 3:16 didn’t have as an addendum a clause stating that the belief of the trinity or unitary is necessary for salvation. (Praise the Lord). However, the right belief is necessary so that our joy may be full. We differ in doctrine, because we are members of the House of God - strangers don’t bicker endlessly.

God is omnipotent, we all agree. If God is omnipotent, does He have the power to change His celestial nature to a terrestrial nature? If God is just, can He judge the whole world if He is not objective? I mean: can He rightly judge anyone if He has not got all the facts and evidence, to see things for Himself? If He must get these facts, should He come down in bodily form just as He did to Sodom and Gomorrah?

Please, answer these questions.

OK OK
You're putting out too much information making it difficult for me to reply.
I'll reply to what I can.
As for GOT, yeah sure.
But why initially compare to that series and then switch lanes and make it contrast from what you initially proposed?
In what way was Eddard Stark the same person as the king Robert Baratheon?
This scenario is the perfect one to illustrate—since Jesus was at God's right hand before assuming kingship in God's Kingdom, how can you still go ahead and claim he is the Almighty God?

Please read again. I’ll respond tomorrow. I’m very sure that there would be clarity when you read my comment again. You may try to find out more on the meaning of de facto and de jure and their application.

Yours is the only reasonable comment I can reply to
But I see you're only dragging the matter sha but OK
Guess this is your own definition of a triune god?

What's the definition of a deity?
It simply means a “god” or “godess”
The Bible rightly called men “gods”—Psalm 82:6, John 10:34,35
Jehovah God bestowed authority on Moses to be God before Pharaoh—Exodus 4:16, 7:1
So it's not a big deal, Jesus Christ is godlike/divine in nature and so are the other angels in heaven but none of them compare to the Jehovah the Almighty God (Genesis 17:1, Revelation 15:3)

I've already provided Scriptures for all those already — Isaiah 41:14, 43:12, 48:17, Daniel 7:13, Revelation 21:5.
@the underlined, no I will not note that because the term “Father” is not exclusive to just the New Testament. Please see Isaiah 63:16 and 64:8 and douse your thirst.

I'm not sure I understand this clearly. The Bible reveals that the Jews have always known their God to be one and one alone—Deuteronomy 6:4, 1Corinthians 8:6, 1Timothy 2:5
@Mark 12:32, Jesus himself debunked all claims/falsehoods saying that God is a three-in-one. Please read that verse.
As for the italicised, the Jews were furious at Jesus for allegedly making himself “God's Son” —John 10:36. It was the dubious Jews at John 5:18 who misunderstood the whole thing and said Jesus called himself God hence the air was cleared at John 10:36.

Acts 7:55-56
“But he, being full of holy spirit, gazed into heaven and caught sight of God’s glory and of Jesus standing at God’s right hand, and he said: “Look! I see the heavens opened up and the Son of man standing at God’s right hand.”

The verse clearly reads “of God's glory AND of Jesus”—the ‘AND’ conjunction indicating a demarcation.
From programming, God's glory !== Jesus

And where was Jesus situated at?—God's right hand. That's right, by the side of Jehovah God and that's why he could tell Jesus to receive his spirit. Knowing that anything he asks in Jesus' name would be answered—John 15:16.
Stephen knew this, and God being present then, he was invariably making his petition known to Jehovah his God—through Jesus(Philippians 4:6)

Jehovah God himself is the Shepherd who cares for his sheep (Jeremiah 31:10)
But he has ascribed power and authority to his Son, Jesus Christ so that he[Jesus] intercedes in our behalf and therefore is the “fine shepherd” of the Christian congregation — Matthew 28:18, John 10:11, Ephesians 5:23, Hebrews 13:20
Elders in the Christian congregation have also been assigned to “shepherd the flock of God” — 1Peter 5:2

As for Philippians 2:5-9, we've already established that Jesus was godlike/of divine nature/spirit form before he came to the earth(John 1:1, Colossians 1:15-17, Revelation 3:14), that's why that scripture said he was in “God's form” and so are the rest of the angels in heaven (Psalm 104:4)
It's just like saying because Adam was made in God's image, that somehow made him Jehovah God? Is that what you're saying?
Mind you, the word “Godhead” appears a total number of ZERO time(s) in both the Hebrew/Greek Scriptures so I don't see why you're bringing it up in our discussion.

Let’s look at the following scriptures my brother:

Hosea 13:8 God described as a mother bear

Like a bear robbed of her cubs, I will attack them and tear them asunder…”

Deuteronomy 32:11-12 God described as a mother eagle

Like the eagle that stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young, God spreads wings to catch you, and carries you on pinions.”

Deuteronomy 32:18 God who gives birth

You were unmindful of the Rock that bore you; you forgot the God who gave you birth.”

Isaiah 66:13 God as a comforting mother

God: “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Isaiah 49:15 God compared to a nursing mother

God: “Can a woman forget her nursing child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”

Isaiah 42:14 God as a woman in labor

God: “For a long time I have held my peace, I have kept myself still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labor, I will gasp and pant.

Psalm 131:2 God as a Mother

But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; my soul is like the weaned child that is with me.

Psalm 123:2-3 God compared to a woman
As the eyes of a servant looks to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to you, YHWH, until you show us your mercy!

Matthew 23:37 and Luke 13:34 God as a Mother Hen

Jesus: “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!

Luke 15:8-10 God as woman looking for her lost coin

Jesus: “Or what woman having ten silver coins, is she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

DappaD, would it be preposterous if I referred to God as a woman or “The Mother” because of the verses listed up there? They are more than the verses you listed to support that Jehovah is “The Father”. If it were to be a B-ball game, I’ll be leading tongue

Of all the characters contested on in this thread, Christ is the only person in the NT that has the motherly attribute. If He wasn’t referred to as “The Son” but “The Mother”, would it make sense that Christ is indeed the Woman spoken about in the verses I listed? (I hope I am not sounding complicated).

You spoke of the angels having a godlike nature or divine nature; are angels eternal? Are they without beginning and end? If the train of God filled the temple, why then do the seraphims fly to reach one end of the temple to the other? If they were indeed divine in nature, why do some of them fall, get defeated, get restrained, and get destroyed? Why are they limited in knowledge, incapacitated to know the full mystery of God or even silent before the throne?

Before I rest my fingers, I’d like to ask if you if you have watched The Game of Thrones? you would agree with me that the King’s hand was de facto King in the event of the king’s absence. More than what the king’s hand meant in the HBO series, Christ standing in the Dexios of God (right hand of God) means He stands in the place of authority of God. This isn’t a title given to a minion, a subordinate, an adjutant, an under-secretary, a de facto, but a de jure. Yes, the time hasn’t come for the de jure King to take what is rightfully his, yet He is who He is - the Lord, God.

Our virtual meetings have been okay, thank you for asking.

Well let's explore the Scriptures then

Revelation 5:13

“And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and underneath the earth and on the sea, and all the things in them, saying: “To the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might forever and ever.””

Notice the highlighted words, it will catch the attention of any honesthearted individual that the verse is referring to two DISTINCT individuals. I don't know if you agree?

Jehovah God is that “One” in capitals and never has Jesus been called “the One”, just his Father, Jehovah. See Isaiah 43:12, 48:17 Daniel 7:9,13; Habakkuk 1:13, Revelation 4:9-11
Of course, Jesus would receive honor being the “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”—John 1:29 but he and his Father/God are two individuals entirely and not some mishmash of personalities.

Yes, the verse you highlighted showed two distinct individuals receiving the same one-honor. You have spoken well, why then do you say Christ Jesus isn’t deity? Two individuals- The one who sits on the throne AND The Lamb; I’d like to assume that the former, the undistinguished one, is The Father.

Then, you have said that there is nowhere in the scriptures where Jesus is referred to as “The One”; this is “true”; I’d like to ask you if there is anywhere in the scriptures where the Father is referred to as “The One”? (Please note the word “Father” is a New Testament concept)

The Jews have always known that the One Jehovah, is plural; hence their fury at Jesus’ claim to be one of the conglomerate. Why did Stephen pray to the Son? If Stephen’s testimony is true, why shouldn’t we accept that the Son of Man stands in the place of God? Why did he describe this Son of Man as the Glory of God - the one who spoke to Moses in the bush - Moses’ coming prophet - the Righteous one the prophet’s spoke of - the one whom he prayed to?

Isaiah said to Jerusalem “Behold your God will come...like a shepherd” -He said this referring to Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus has always made it clear to all around him that He is not alone, and thought no robbery to ascribe the Godhead to himself alone (Philli. 2:6).

Mr Acehart
I know you're a man of reason. I respect that.
But you and your people should leave explanations out of this and just provide the scripture that said “Jesus is God”. Thank you. smiley

Hi, hope you had a nice meeting at the Kingdom Hall or online transmission?

I know you are aware of the events that took place in Revelations Chapter 5. We see how the very highest worship of heaven is was offered to the lamb(Rev 5:12-13). We saw all Angels and Elders bowed to the Lamb.

I’d like to assume that you know the first verse in the one hundredth and tenth Psalm of David, when translated from the original manuscript is: Elohim said to Adonai. (Psalm 110:1).

In Isaiah’s vision in the year his uncle died, he said: “I saw Adonai seated on a throne”. I would like to draw your attention to the indefinite article “a” - you know what it means.

In the New Testament, only Jesus Christ is called “Adonai”. The question you should ask is this: “who is Elohim?” or “who are Elohim”, because Adonai is a Singular, while “Elohim” is plural.

Where did the Bible say “Jesus is God” ?
Simple!
I don't need too much explanations.

All things that the Father hath are mine(Joh 16:15)

The word “all” when used to describe the scores between two parties means both parties are equal. The word “all” here also means that the whole quantity or extent of the Father belongs to the Son. We know that the word “all” means “entire” or “entirety”. In the Greek translation, “All things” means “Whatsoever”. Therefore, if the Father is crowned with glory, Jesus is crowned with glory; if the Father is honoured as God, the same honour is attributed to the Son because “All” that the Father has, the Son has as well.

OVERVIEW OF THE TRINITY

William S. Plumer. (1802-1880)

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. (2 Corinthians 13:14).

THE word trinity is not found in the Bible, but the doctrine of the Trinity is there. The word trinity means the unity of three, that is, the unity of the three divine persons.

The word ‘person‘, when used on this subject, does not mean a separate individual, but a distinct subsistence. It denotes a distinction in the divine Being [that is] real, but inexplicable. The doctrine of the Trinity has had many enemies. The Arians contended that the Son of God was totally and essentially distinct from the Father, and so in nature and dignity inferior to the Father. They also taught that the Holy Ghost was not God, but was created by the power of Jesus Christ. The Sabellians denied that there was more than one person in the Godhead and said that the Son and the Spirit were mere virtues or functions of divinity. The Socinians taught that Christ was a mere man, and that the Holy Ghost was not a distinct subsistence. The Unitarians confine the glory and attributes of divinity to the Father. They do not allow Christ or the Holy Spirit to be truly divine. Still, the doctrine of the Trinity has been held and is now held by the great body of Christians.

The Persons of the Trinity are clearly distinguished in the Scriptures as the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Mat 28:19). [They are distinguished] elsewhere as the Lord Jesus Christ, God, and the Holy Ghost (2Co 13:14). The first Person of the Godhead is spoken of as one God, the Father, of Whom are all things. The second is spoken of as one Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom are all things, and we by Him (1Co 8:6). The third is spoken of as the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, the Comforter sent to convince men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (Joh 16:cool.

The Father is neither begotten, nor does He proceed from the Son or the Spirit. The Son is begotten of the Father, the only-begotten of the Father (Joh 1:14; 3:16). The Spirit is not begotten, but proceeds from the Father, is the Spirit of the Father, and is the Spirit of the Son; [He] is of the Son and is sent by the Son (Joh 15:26; Rom 8:9, 14; 1Pe 1:11). But the words Father and Son, beget and begotten, are not to be overstrained. They are merely the fittest words to convey to our dull minds some just idea of the relation existing between the first and second Persons of the Godhead.

No one denies the divinity of the Father. No one ought to deny the true and supreme divinity of the Son. Of Him, the Scripture says:“This is the true God and eternal life” (1Jo 5:20). He “is over all, God blessed for ever” (Rom 9:5). “For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself” (Joh 5:26). Thomas worshipped Him, calling Him, “My Lord and my God” (Joh 20:28). The world was made by the Son (Col 1:16). It shall be destroyed by the Son (Heb 1:12). All men shall be judged by the Son (Joh 5:22, 27). Stephen, dying, prayed to Him (Acts 7:59). The very highest worship of heaven is offered to Him (Rev 5:12-13). So also the Spirit of God is truly God. In Acts 5:3-4, the Holy Ghost is expressly called God. The Spirit perfectly knows God, and so is God (1Co 2:10- 11). He is joined with the Father and the Son in the form of baptism (Mat 28:19) and in the apostolic benediction (2Co 13:14).

This doctrine is never to be so taught as to lead men to suppose that there are three Gods. We do not deny the unity of God. We glory in it. Nor do we hold that God is three in the same sense in which He is one, for that would be a con- tradiction. But He is one in being, in nature, in essence; and three in personality or subsistence. So that when we speak of the Father, we say He, His, Him; and when the Father speaks of Himself, He says I, Mine, Me; and when we speak to Him, we say Thou, Thine, Thee. The same form of speech is also found in regard to the Son and the Spirit. When John baptized our Lord, all three persons of the Trinity were present “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Mat 3:16-17). So we find all three persons of the Godhead spoken of in John 14:26: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

As all three persons of the Godhead concurred in man’s creation, so do they all concur in man’s redemption. The Father gave the only begotten Son (Joh 3:16). The Son laid down His life for His sheep (Joh 10:17-18). The Spirit reproves the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment, and guides God’s people into all truth (Joh 16:8, 13). There is a wonderful and unspeakable communion of nature, attributes, and glory in the persons of the Godhead. Christ says of the Spirit: “He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you” (Joh 16:14-15). It is the will of God that “all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him” (Joh 5:23).

Now, if men refuse to honor the Son and worship only the Father, or if they honor the Son not as the Son of God but merely as a creature, they do displease Him Who sent His Son into the world. We must worship the Trinity in unity and unity in Trinity. The doctrine here maintained relates therefore to the object of religious worship. The orthodox hold that we are to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. All others worship God not as He is revealed in the Bible, but according to their own ideas. “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (Joh 17:3). It is a remarkable fact that men who hold the supreme divinity of Christ never deny the divinity of the Spirit.

We have hints of this doctrine of the Trinity in the oldest writings of Scripture. In the first verse of Genesis, the word rendered God is in the plural form. So in Job 35:10, the word Maker in the Hebrew is plural. So in Ecclesiastes 12:1, the word Creator is in the plural. So in Isaiah 54:5, the words Maker and Husband are both in the plural. So in Malachi 1:6, the word Master is in the plural. Not only are nouns but pronouns found in the plural. In Genesis 1:26, we read, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (See Gen 3:22). Many things like these are found in the Old Testament. Whatever arguments prove the divinity and personality of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, prove the doctrine of the Trinity. For if each of these is a person, and each of Them is divine, there is no more doubt of the Trinity.

[46]I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.

Jesus says if you believe in Him you have believed In the Father

And if you see Him you have seen the Father

Jesus is the Father in Flesh.

I know this upsets the anti Christs a lot, but see, no man has ever made such bold statements in history.

The JWs who say Jesus is Angel Michael hate to see this truth; how can an angel say if you see me you have seen God?

The Muslims won't like this because to them Jesus is just one of the prophets

The atheists won't like this because to them God doesn't exist

The Mormons will hate this because for them Jesus Is the brother of Satan

Jesus Christ is God Almighty

They are coming after you like the army of the Persians. Lift up your standard man, they are coming!!!

Nigeria is a harsh place for a lot of us. Many of us try to do a lot of things just to get “daily bread”. In the twinkle of an eye, the cost of the biggest ‘Agege’ bread rose from 40 naira to 150 naira; transport fares rose to as high as 500 percent; hospitals are not hospitals anymore yet they are unaffordable; A few days ago, a colleague of mine spent thirty two thousand naira to get his seven years old son treated for a deep cut on his forehead (His HMO hospital was too far for the amount of blood the boy was losing. He was already unconscious by the time he got to the nearby hospital). Life for many a Nigerian seems like one going to fetch water from a stream with a leaking bucket.

I read the story of how Giannis Antetotunpo got to the NBA; please, do read about his story when you can; you would see clearly the mentality of many Nigerians who travel abroad. It’s not all about the money, I’d say. We think about our children and hope greatly that they don’t face what Nigeria throws at its citizens. Many will face the indignity of hell just to ensure their children have a bright tomorrow.

The future is not bright for many Nigerian children; school fees are becoming increasingly unaffordable; many neighborhoods are not safe any longer. Many parents have ‘measured‘ themselves and have seen that the only way to ‘salvation’ is to leave this place called Nigeria.

Good morning all,
Please, how can a whole Bible be read and studied within a year? Please I need a practical approach. Thank you

One can’t study the Bible in a year. It’s like trying to use a plane to travel round the universe in a year.

However, get books that would give you an overview of the basic doctrines of the Bible e.g man, God, salvation, sin, atonement etc This will enable you make sense of what you will be reading. For instance, the theme behind the Joseph story is ‘redemption’; The story of Joseph in Egypt is not about Joseph but Judah. Those books would make your focus much clearer when you read.

You may also listen to many good teachers on YouTube. John MacArthur and RC Sproul are very nice. Noel Jones is very methodical especially in his bible study arguments - he is a Pauline epistle based teacher. Get a good study Bible too; the best one can have is a MacArthur study Bible - it is expensive but it would be worth it.

As you get better, try to attend Sunday school preparatory classes in your church regularly with a view to contribute. It will force you to read and think.

Finally, try to avoid listening to people who are renowned for preaching on Sunday services and ‘big’ programs alone.

Have fun.

What is sin? Who determines what is sinful? What is the meaning of the word “church”? If you are referring to the temples, buildings, synagogues, parishes and cathedrals as churches, then what is sin is determined by their leaders. If the true meaning of church is: “where two or three are gathered, and Christ is the third or fourth man”, dancing would never come up because all three or four people who are gathered, are gathered in seriousness, listening to Christ in fellowship and brotherliness.

This would be my penultimate response to your query. I hope you have studied the points I have raised and checked them against the scriptures. If you haven’t up till now, please do; don’t be like your friends.

Let’s continue from where we left off. Revelation 21.19-25 is my reference text - the fitting response to your misunderstanding of Ezekiel 28:15.

The material of the wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundation stones of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates was a single pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and its lamp is the Lamb. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed;

Earlier on, we saw that the scriptures hinted us that Adam and the King of Tyre (through the riddle of Ezekiel 28:12) were primarily priests unto God. We also saw that the understanding of the meaning of the ephod, and the urim and the Thummim, was essential to understanding the verses that spoke of the precious stones, the wisdom of this king, and his beauty.

If we would understand the allegory of Ezekiel, we would have to delve into more meanings and perhaps some functions of these divination stones as oracles used during trial ordeals - difficult trials of persons.

First, the Urim:

The urim is said to be derived from the Hebrew word for ‘light’ or ‘to give light’. It was the white stone placed in the breastplate of judgment. Do you remember when Jesus said: “To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone“? This white stone was used to to bring to light the guilt of an accused person e.g. when it was used to locate Achan and try him after the defeat at Ai: The narrative from the Book of Joshua shows that: For Achan’s personal sin all the children of Israel suffered defeat in battle before Achan was found.

Please observe this verse:

Therefore Saul said, ‘O Lord God of Israel, why have you not answered your servant this day? If this guilt is in me or in Jonathan my son, O Lord, God of Israel, give Urim. But if this guilt is in your people Israel, give Thummim.’ Then Jonathan and Saul were taken by lot; and the people escaped. (1 Samuel 14:41).

It was also used to give authority to eleven tribes of Israel to proceed in annihilating the tribe of Benjamin. The white stone signified that a proposed action was satisfactory to God. This stone signified understanding, truth/yes and doctrine.

In the reference text above, we see this concerning the New Jerusalem: In the daytime for there will be no night there) its gates will never be closed

The Thummim is the black stone. In contrast to the urim which stands for ‘light’ or ‘illumination’ the Thummim is associated with darkness or negativity. In the text used in my introduction, we see the twelve precious stones associated with the ephod being used as the foundation of the New Jerusalem. We also see that the profoundness of this city was its ‘illumination’. Just like the merchants of the world were attracted to Tyre, the Kings of the world were attracted to the brilliance( Light) of this city, Jerusalem, for God was the source of its ‘illumination’.

Significantly, we see the absence of two things associated with the priests; and kings who bore the ephod (note that the Kings of the earth bore their glory (akin to the Lucifers - Urim bearers - Shining ones); signifying that in the end, everyone will be a priest unto God through Christ): the absence of a temple and the absence of the Thummim; only the Urim (light) remained. The city had no night (Thummim) because all the inhabitants of the city were guiltless.

Going back to Moses’ era, we see that the in the making of all the things the priests used in the worship of Jehovah, only one was not given design specifications and therefore wasn’t made ‘with hands’ - the ephod and its elements. This suggests that this garment pre-dated Moses. (I had suggested earlier that Joseph’s garment of many colors was an ephod).

The ‘priestly‘ kings, Joseph and the King of Tyre, were blessed with tremendous prosperity that their estate was referred to as ‘The Garden of Eden’. In the foremost Garden of Eden, the ‘Tree of life’ was associated with light; while the ‘Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil’ (Muttleylaff calls it TKGE) was associated with darkness. In the concluding parts of the scriptures, the latter tree was absent (Rev.22:2) and the former remained. Light (Urim) remained; and darkness dissolved (Thummim).

In the apocalypse of John, the new city, Jerusalem was described in terms of the Garden of Eden...

Yesterday, we looked at the precious stones associated with the King of Tyre; all the stones found in him are also the precious stones found on the breastplate of an ephod. We looked at what an ephod is, with emphasis on the Urim; briefly, we looked at the function of the ephod as a means of inquiring from God, and how this could point to the privilege this king had. We also saw that this king was a man (v.2,9).

Before we continue, let us look at certain descriptions of this man, in the verses that preceded the verses where you concluded that this individual is Lucifer, the fallen angel. (I’d like you to note that Lucifer is not a proper name. It is a title meaning “lighter bearer or bringer“. It is title given to one who bore the Urim (pronounced O-rim) divination Stone). The King of Tyre was described as:

1. One made like other men - from the earth (v.1).
2. One wise, wiser than Daniel (v.2, 12)
3. One who lived among men (not angels) (v.7)
4. Mortal (v.1,8,9)
5. One of Hebrew origin (v.10)
6. One who had the ‘seal of perfection’ and ‘perfect in beauty’(v.12).

I’d like to speak a bit on the last description, and speak of the other descriptions if necessary. Why did the Lord say, “You had the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty”? Who is this guy?

The Lord said to Moses: “And you, bring near to you your brother Aaron and his sons with him from among the Israelites, so that they may minister as my priests– Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons. You must make holy garments for your brother Aaron, for glory and for beauty. You are to speak to all who are specially skilled, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, so that they may make Aaron's garments to set him apart to minister as my priest. (Exodus 28:1-3 NET)

Exodus 28 solves this riddle of Ezekiel 28 for us: The second divination stone, the Thummim, means “perfection” in Hebrew and Greek translations. This stone was to be placed in the breastplate ‘sealed’ (attached) to the garment of extreme beauty, the ephod (Exod. 28:30). The garment was to bring praise to God and admiration from all that gaze upon it. The King, who had the Thummim (perfection) ‘in’ the ephod (beauty), was judged because he had exalted himself to the height of God, becoming proud, and craving for the admiration of men. The description, ‘perfect in beauty’, was an allegory for the effect (similar to that of the ephod) the King had on everyone around him.

It is worthy to note that the duty of the priest was not to be carried out by the King, and vice versa. God’s judgment always befell the king that performed the duties of the priest. This King of Tyre perhaps was a priest turned king, and in performing the duties of the King, possessed the oracles of God and perverted them. The passage in Exodus 28:1-3, corroborates point five that this king had Hebrew roots.

It is also worthy to note that splendor of great cities was described as “perfect in beauty” (Lam. 2:15, Ezek.27:3)

Waiting...

Please, permit me to continue speaking on The Ephod and its breastplate; it should be the key to answering your query. I hope I wasn’t ambiguous in my first response?

Two divination stones, Urim and Thummim, were placed in the breastplate (Leviticus 8:8 ). The Hebrew word for “Urim” is “light”. In his final days, Moses charged Israel that the ‘Urim bearer‘ or ‘light bearer‘ should be a godly man (Deut. 33:8 ). In addition to carrying the Urim and Thummim, the ephod served as the lining garment for the Breastplate of Righteousness, or the Breastplate of Judgement worn by that godly man.

Before I proceed any further, the name ‘Lucifer’ (not a proper name) means “light bringer or bearer” or “shining one”. He who bore the Urim was given the same title. Joseph, who bore the coat of many colours, a garment in the likeness of the ephod, was the shining one among his brothers. He could be called a ‘Lucifer’.

The ephod was worn when its bearer sought to communicate with God. I had highlighted earlier than the individual spoken of in Ezekiel 28 had the precious stones in him; this is in contrast with others who wore the stones, as it were, on themselves. This individual had the privilege to speak with God without wearing a special apparel, divining, withdrawing to a high place or temple, muttering audible sounds - the privilege the saints have today through Christ Jesus.

In the next verse, the Lord said: "You were the anointed cherub who covers, And I placed you there. You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked in the midst of the stones of fire.”

Yet, this individual who is a man (v.2,9), is referred to as “The Anointed Cherub”. The definite article “the” shows that of all Cherubs, one specific Cherub (who covers) was chosen. (From the narratives of Joseph and his eleven brothers, Aaron and the Levites, Joshua and the Spies, David and his brothers, the ‘light bearer’ was distinguished because had the ‘righteous’ heart).

To buttress the fact that indeed these verses was referring to a man, here is the blessing Moses pronounces on Joseph (akin to the blessings Ezekiel reveals to us that the King of Tyre enjoyed):Of Joseph he said, "...With the choice things of heaven, with the dew, And from the deep lying beneath, And with the choice yield of the sun, And with the choice produce of the months. And with the best things of the ancient mountains, And with the choice things of the everlasting hills, And with the choice things of the earth and its fullness, And the favor of Him who dwelt in the bush. Let it come to the head of Joseph, And to the crown of the head of the one distinguished among his brothers. As the firstborn of his ox, majesty is his, And his horns are the horns of the wild ox; With them he will push the peoples, All at once, to the ends of the earth."

Hello everyone.

I had a WhatsApp group call with three of my friends. James, Wale and Goke (In case any of you is reading this, hi guys, you guys are smart I enjoyed the conversation wink) where we discussed the origin of sin.

My position was that there's a greater or darker power that corrupted Lucifer. I mean looking at a logical analysis of Ezekiel 28:15
which I'll quote "Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee."

It is important to put in mind that angels were created before the earth and man subsequently. They were perfect beings created to serve God.

About Lucifer. He was one of the most admirable angels in heaven.

My questions were/still are:
Where was sin before it was found in Lucifer ?
Lucifer was created perfect meaning imperfections came to him due to an interaction with an/some external factor(s)

Also, God created the angels perfect but however didn't confine them to worshipping him like some robots but rather gave them choices to worship him out of their freewill. Now it's important to establish that God is a God of righteousness of which while creating the angels he did that by installing all the righteous features in them by default meaning sin was an external and uninvited guests to the party. So doesn't these all mean that there's always been another end to the righteousness spectrum before Lucifer got tempted and defected to the other side?

They weren't able to convince me maybe you can

I saw your comment in agreement to the one who said, “everyone is focusing on the puppet, but no one is focused on the puppeteer”. Hmm.

Please permit me to respond to your query.

Foremost, that passage was speaking of the King of Tyre; two chapters preceding chapter 28, all spoke about the King of Tyre (not Lucifer). “You were in Eden”, verse 13 - where you drew your conclusion that that scripture spoke of Lucifer, please say. The verse goes on the to list precious stones “found in him”.

May we look at these precious stones for a minute? The stones to wit are: The ruby, the topaz and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald; And the gold. In the introductory scriptures to creation of man, we see that the streams that flowed out of Eden flowed to places where Gold and Onyx was found. As we progress through the scriptures, we see that the breastplate of the ephod, an apparel worn by the priests (and a couple of times by Kings), was decked in twelve precious stones; to wit are: sardius (ruby), topaz, carbuncle (garnet), emerald, sapphire, diamond, jacinth, agate, amethyst, beryl, onyx and jasper; it was embroidered with gold and its twelve precious stones set in gold filigree. The stones spoken of here in Ezekiel 28 are the same precious stones found on the breastplate of an ephod. Several descriptions of the duties of the first Adam gives us strong reasons to believe that his chief duty in the Garden of Eden was to be a priest unto God. The rivers from the garden and the lands they flowed to were picturesque descriptions of the means Adam was to speak with/to God similar to the use of the ephod.

The reference verse says, “on the day you were created, they were prepared”. If we infer from the second chapter of The Book of Genesis, just after the precious stones and rivers were mentioned, Adam was placed in Eden, perhaps on the same day. If one stopped his reading at verse 13, then, such a one would conclude that Adam was the man in question here.

As for "guillotine in a workshop." that is utter poppycock because I have been gentle, understanding, coaxing as I could ever be, and without so much of never unsheathing my dagger.

If you think I am going to provide any the specifics of why God was not happy or pleased about and how why, on a platter of gold, without youse making any effort to pull out the fingers, lift up the hood yourselves and poke head in to see what's under, then, appreciate that, you'll have another thing coming. The lover of inquiry must follow his/her beloved wherever it may lead him/her, and not just complacently park in Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 or 2 Kings 18:4 and 2 Kings 23:7 verses.

I'll tell you what you really would appreciate. You will appreciate that the German bible was first translated or written before any ever English Bible, was written/translated. So why not start from appreciating what really you'll find out about how Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 were written up, in the German Bibles from the 1800s. That should set you off, to intriguingly have the urge, to dig further deeper, to see what else in the Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 somewhat mystery, is waiting for you to solve and correctly explain with sound biblical exegesis

I appreciate your hollow thank you, but no thank you

I tell you this: I enjoy reading your comments -they are amazing.

If I was thumping my chest, it wasn’t intended to portray me as something because I see myself as nothing. It wasn’t my intention to insult you, though it may seem like I did; but I did respond to someone whose mental capacity I esteem greatly; one who would see beyond the gravity of my words to see the intention of my heart through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in him.

When someone mentions your moniker, you have the power within you to be silent, pretending that it isn’t you. Silence, at the right time, is louder than noise. It is sad many people, ignorantly, think you support homosexuality; you are a “context-centric” man, I’ve got to know that; many people don’t and may never understand that context is key in understanding the scriptures.

German and Non-German Bibles will give you the true reflection of God’s heart when He gave those commands; only those who swim in the deep end enjoy the pool; those who swim in the shallow end, well, would do so only to enjoy the company of strangers rather than the pool - this is the case with your antagonists. I knew what those verses in Leviticus meant years ago; and they are closely related to the instructions where a man was commanded not to wear women’s clothing and vice-versa.

It would have been nice to know your understanding of those verses; personally, events have made me not enjoy the company of my friends, when we gather to study the scriptures; and an online fellowship is all we have for now - a means through which I thought you would edify me.

Please forgive me if I grieved you.

Thank you dear beloved brother for this your seasoned, matured, objective and Berean approach to this, with Dtruthseeker, not at all living up to the essence of what his/her moniker ID means or conveys

It is very obvious that Dtruthseeker, hasn't 2 Timothy 2:15 deeply studied Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13. I am going methodical here and have the power to do this. It is, by the grace of God, soft work.

The 2 Kings 18:4 and 2 Kings 23:7 verses, are related to what Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13 is talking about, but they dont give the specifics of what in Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13, is God not happy or pleased about and how why

Muttleylaff, you can be abrasive sometimes, maybe most times. You need to be gentle especially when you taste the air and sense that the other person isn’t a marathoner.

I just found out yesterday that I have ninety-one people directly under me; that means I have had close to one-hundred and twenty in the past four years, wow! many of them are uneducated or at best o’ level certified; the one thing that wins them to accept new ideas or make an improvement to work is love -modesty, brotherliness, sensitivity and gentleness - with this approach, I have spoken to many about sin, the scriptures and Christ, unopposed. This approach, when followed, has never failed.

Please think about this approach when you are here on NL. NL isn’t a forum of theological debate or superiority. NL is like Oshodi Bus-Stop on a Monday morning - don’t expect anything good. You should be like a grinding stone that sharpens a dull edge rather than a guillotine in a workshop.
