Mynd_44: As if baba Shoemaker is that dumb
At time parting with half or less of somone's wealth might just be as a result of the love of pity the man still feels for the woman.

Some men will do anything to make a woman happy even if she decides to break the man's heart.

BusinessRe: The Entrepreneur's Manual by acidtalk(op): 8:10pm On Jul 13, 2012
Dear People,
I will answer as much questions as I can (may not be too detailed though because I am not too free right now)

@BoboYekini,
The fact that businesses keep failing everyday is no reason why anyone should loose hope in starting on.

Banks sack everyday yet people roll over each other to get a job in the bank.

NDLEA catches people everyday yet people take the risk of smuggling drugs everyday.

I gave the above examples because you absolutely have control over the situtaionunlike being a business owner where with proper planning and strong positive mind set, you can operate your business over 50years.

In this my lectures, I will NOT talk about the internet money making business. Not that I don't believe in it but I will rather let people get trained on 'real life' (touch and feel) mode of business. More people have gotten their hands bitten in the internet business than any other sector.

@Super1759,
Its not all about attending seminars and exhibitions. It is about PRACTISING it. It like a man who is an expert driver in video game car racing and jumps in a car, starts the ignition and wants to zoom off. Bearing in mind that he as never driven a car.

Though its a good thing you have a good knowledge of the nitty gritty of being an Entrepreneur, but it takes only 'action' to attain that success and dream you crave for.

@Yamakuza,
That's a huge one naming up to 20 business ventures but this is what I will do, I will try and name as many REALISTIC businesses one can startup with N250,000 or less. The pros and cons of each will come in subsequent responses.

Please Note that some of the above stated job description fits perfectly for both sexex and also most of them are SERVICE delivery and (NOT) PRODUCT delivery.

The difference between the two is that Service delivery needs very meager startup capital as you won't need much money to start it up.

Life in general is risking so it isn't different from starting up a business.

3 key things you need before starting a business is;
*Believe in yourself
*Have a Dream and Stick to It
*Determination and Will to Succeed

3 key areas you should get to know about the basic knowledge are;

*Accounting (Financial Knowledge)
*Management
*Customer Satisfaction

3 unavoidable processes are;
*Sales and Marketing (will explain the difference later)
*Brand (Development and Strategy)
*Legal (no business is too small to understand the legal backing and have one).

boyendowed: I think it's best to wear a suit.Like you quoted "you are addressed the way you dress".
I will rather wear a jeans and shirt (personally) and do a brilliant presentation than deck in suit and be stuttering endlessly.

The best of Consultants across the world usually wear casuals for their presentations. Is it because they already know their onions?

Please! Please!! Please!!!
Let's not divert and pinpoint just one instance and derails the thread.

I only used Prah as a case study because she is known all over the world.

Do we know how many ladies out there who are willing to marry just anyone of any age, status, tribe and religion just to be addressed as MRS?

Believe it, millions of ladies out there are having sleepless nights because of lack of a husband.

@brownjay, its not always easy the way it sounds. No single person no matter how rich, healthy or of high status that doesn't have one thing they cry over /for.

obamat: I like this thread and I will share my own story

I told my father that I love to do transport biz when I was in yr 2 in the university and told me its good.
Started phone call and recharge card sales dufing my yr 4 IT as a mech eng undergrduate 2004/05,saved 200k from it in 10mths gave the money to my uncle to buy me a bus to start campus shuttle 2005/06 but he spent my hard earned cash.I was left with nothing.
I continued with the phone calls after graduating but returns was not as the starting time I tried to divesify into some other things so I set up a piggery and it was doing fine until I left for NYSC 2006 and I employed someone to take care of the farm but it collapse in couple of months.
After NYSC I set up a cbercafe with 4 computer and a starcoms phone and I was making money small small.
I got a job with an engineering firm and employed someone to be in charge but the biz collapse after like 3mths.ok everything is finished. i gave the phone call centre to my younger sister to use and make her own life while I start a new life with my new job in Portharcourt.
Portharcourt is not easy to stay if you are not with a good job, my job was earning me 47k in 2008 and I was wondering why I came to PHC but I determined to stay and make it in PHC so I discovered a fertile biz which was the transport biz I`ve loved to do as they stoped motor bik in PHC 2009 so Iran arround and borrowed money from everybody and I bought my first car for taxi biz march 2009 it then made a return which I was able to buy secon and the third in the same year and more till date. I`ve been able to put food on plenty peoples table. I am married and have a child am in my early 30 and i just bought my own personal car last month.

Lesson: Start from somewhere, do biz you can monitor, be focused
God bless you for this contribution.
CareerWearing Jeans And Shirt To Corporate Meetings And Interviews. How Reasonable?. by acidtalk(op): 2:27pm On Jul 13, 2012
It is often said that you are being addressed the way you dress. i quite agree with that saying.
But what about dressing casually smart to attend meetings, interviews and corporate gatherings.

What i mean is what is your opinion on a young man wearing pair of sneakers and probably with a face cap and go for business meeting, job interviews and other corporate gathering or even a lady wearing such.

Afterall what every one needs is a problem solver.

I have had course to dress casual as i always do to meetings in top banking and telecoms firm. while everyone else is all decked up in suit, tie and the rest. i am feeling so cool with my pair of jeans, shirt, trainers and nice wristwatch with a good perf to go with it.

To your question. NEVER EVER MIX BUSINESS AND PLEASURE. i.e; DON'T HIRE WHO YOU CANT FIRE.

The best of entrepreneurs are the most displined, rugged, and fearless set of people.
Have it at the back of your mind that if you have to get rich in life you have to always stand your ground as you will never satisfy everyone in this world no matter hownice you are. So why dont you just being yourself.

As for your friends, i am sorry to inform you that you need to keep seeing them to discuss you entrepreneur plans or ways of financial freedom.

Afterall a mechanic can seek medical or legal advice from a fellow mechanic. He has to go meet with a doctor and lawyer.
What i am trying to tell you that your set of friends are only giving you advice from how clearly they see things.

Chck out their financial status of achievements in life, only then will you decide if they are worth emulating and capable of giving advice.

helpee: I am using this a two edged sword...to thank God and to encourage my people. Though I am a professional, a medical doctor. After medical education, I decided to acquire a lot of skills medically even with a meagre pay and learn the rudiment of private hospital business.I started less than two yrs ago and today, we make more than a million per month with most of it profit. I was carried away though...after one year, I bought an expensive car to the tune of 4million and my landlord got jealous, gave me a quit notice but my tenancy won't expire in a year so I am negotiating for a property in the vicinity and my God will buy it for me. Mind you...I do only legal medical cases with thorougness, no abortion just my God. I started with a loan I took on my salary while working for anoda hospital two yrs ago and I stayed with them for one year after to complete the loan but I insisted on only night duty. I deceived my oga I wanted to write exams so he should put me only night. My story may look different cos I am a professional but if you know I am 32 and most of my mates are still begging fashola to top up their moni above 200K then u will know its not easy. Bottomline; courage and dare the odds!
I appreciate every single poster but your story, @adecoline, @billynoire and @bigx, and the coaching lady are my favorite so far reason being you people gave an insist to the struggle and how it all started and that's the essence of this thread.

I believe a whole lot of people are getting inspire by this thread.

And of course he covered the car withe the blood of Jesus before enterying the church.
He would have really felt God hated in so much at that moment?
Why on a sunday? what was his sins and so many other things are what will be going through his head.

delimit: I think insurance is better than tracker since insurance covers accident and theft (comprehensive) though sometimes insurance company can be funny
Most car snatcher now have decoder to decode the tracker
Every single insurance company will insist you get a vehicle tracke or some kind of security if the insurance is to cover theft.

I wont trade words with you just a simple question.
How does one identify a true pastor?

Oluesther: I am not saying he did the right or wrong thing. God should judge that. We cannot achieve anything by criticising men of God.

Okay, do you want to go and kill him for looting your money? Please let us leave all that for God. Believe me, it won't be easy for anybody on the judgment day, both you, I, and the pastors. Pastor, Reverend father, etc., all ends here; those are titles.

Let me even run my own race and win a crown first, before I will start condemning pastors and others.

Please don't write or talk with so much hatred for men of God.
Thanks!
Believe it or not, it will be way easier for you and I to make it to Heaven than these men.

'Cus while we openly commit our since, get crticized and ask for forgiveness, these men deceive people, hide to commit sinful acts and place the blame on other people who are too scared to confront them. Inshort a larger percentage of them are just hypocrites.

If you read in the 4 corners of your room, study the bible very well, do good deeds and stay clear sinful acts, render charitable acts and be extremely sincere you do not only not need these men but also will make Heaven earlier than them (that's if they make it).

Heaven is in the heart and deeds and not in the speech or hands of any man.

I would have long disowned him if he was my father.

How will I allow my father play on the ignorance of people and then enriching himself. That's so unfair in the eyes of God.

What happened to those catholic, methodist and Anglican leaders who still shuttle around in the old modeled peugot 505 and 504 as well as benz 230? Does it make them less men of God? Or will their frugal lifestyle not make them pass the message correctly across?

Did you ever read any verse in the bible where it was stated Jesus had a Horse not to talk of 'flock' of Horses? Or had God not created Horses, Donkeys and Camels then?

Did you hear Jesus acquiring Lands, Farm lands, Cattles and Sheeps? Just to enable him pass the message farther and wider across nations?

Where was it that Jesus made friends with rulers and monachs of those days just to gain favour and be friends with those that mattered in the land?

Jesus ate, wined and dines with people of lower status and those who were almost giving up on life. Yet his messages spaned across nations and reigned thousands of years after.

Religion and Civilization are absolutely two different thing that should never be mixed.
