Politics / Re: Reasons Why Government Should Not Pay Unemployed Graduates by acidtalk: 10:59am On Nov 13, 2015
Skidskid, in as much you tried to disagree with me in a very intellectual and mature way, I respect your views but still stand that government should not give out a dime. Rather, they should setup manpower training centers in areas of Agriculture, Mining and Solid Minerals, Arts/Sculpture/ Painting, Draftman/Architecture/Construction, Marine/Vvessel Engineering/ Electrical/Mechanical works. Now these centers are not university but advance real-time practical skills to help you secure jobs faster and reduce the number of expatriates taking up all the skilled jobs in Nigeria.

Giving N5,000 will only worsen things.

REASONS WHY THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT PAY UNEMPLOYED GRADUATES.

It is no longer a secret amongst HR companies, departments and corporate organizations that majority of Nigerian graduates are unemployable. I.e. Most of them do not possess working, technical, intellectual and moral skills to help in the growth of any corporate organization.

The average Nigerian youth is more concerned with how much he will be paid as salary at the end of each month that how much value he can help add to the company employing him.

Majority of our Nigerian breed graduates today have VERY POOR written and spoken skills. With a whole lot of them getting carried away using short text to write official letter, application, and cover letters.

Knowing we have more LAZY youths today than we have ever had before, I strongly believe the N5,000 the government instead to give "unemployable unemployed graduates" will only encourage them to lay back and become more useless to themselves and the society.

The government should rather channel such funds to the building of skill acquisition centers in every local government area in each state of the federation.

Today where Alcohol, gambling, smoking and betting have become the norm in the Nigerian society, such allowance will only last most of the youths a day or two before it vanishes due to their addiction on these vices.

After a few months of receiving these supposed allowances, these youths will start demanding for an increase (like NYSC, and Labour). They will shut down government parastatals if ever their demands aren't met.

The government should encourage her youths to learn the basics and tenets of hard work and not encourage them to relax and be fed. No good father does that to his children.

These same youths rather that encourage the present government fight corruption, actually are the ones supporting all corrupt politicians and condemning the presidents fight against corruption. The president should give a condition that it will only start paying unemployed youths allowance if it can recover at least N500Billion naira from past corrupt officials. Only then will the youths start supporting government in its fight against corruption.
