The second husband died... understandable, what happened to the first one huh I have no doubt in my mind that she is from the spirit world, too pretty to be of this world. At least Okotie's first marriage lasted 17years, this one only 4 years. SHE BE SPIRIT JOOR

Chongaiman: To the best of my knowledge, APCs were not in use during WW1.
APC was used in the dying days of WW1. British invented it from tractor prototype which they used to overrun German positions in the trenches. This forced the Germans to sue for peace. But Germans did perfect the use of APC in the battlefield in the WW2

Katsumoto: The picture is from the Tribune website. It's not like its private website. If you are going to doubt Tribune (when the picture in question wasn't produced to support any argument in particular), then you either have to stop buying newspapers or you request that journalists provide data for every sentence they produce.

Anything to question the argument that you don't support while not producing anything to support yours. Gimme a break

That will make him look like an ingrate. Remember that the Mrs Balloteli picked him up from Ghananian orphanage at a very tender age, cared and nurtured him to adulthood. Got him enrolled to Inter Milan football academy. Only for him to pay her back by abandoning Italy to play for Ghana. It doesn't sound right

One_Naira: I read through out this thread and though so many things had me cracking up on this thread, this particular post has got to be the funniest of them all. comeon dude, how are we to verify whether the caution on the pictures is accurate or not. It is similar to how one of ya'll post a video from a Nigerian news industry with the title Biafrans arrive lagos and upon watching the video, everyone on the boat was white. Also how we've seen the same pictures used by Nigerian news media to illustrate "Igbo living north in droves" in this century. Dude seriously? How are we to verify the accuracy of the caution on this picture. That's what got me cracking up

Let me explain myself better in a way you might grasp it

This is Ojukwu in 1500 sitting and thinking of the future of Igbo

As you can see, I can add any form of title to a picture, just because I did so does not make it true unless it can be verified as accurate. Though yes in this example, my pictures can easily be traced and found out the title in each is inaccurate because all the pictures are found online in google but what if I posted it in a blog or rather yet a website destroying any evidence to retrace it. Does that now make the title accurate? of course not.

A real life example would be this picture
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m3qpe1yGpF1qga40to1_500.jpg
This is a picture of Bini and or Igbo women in the 1500s

This pictures has been moved and tumbled so many times, titled changed in different blogs till the point noone in this century is aware what ethnicity the women in the pictures are. So far we've seen both Igbo and Bini claiming them as their own. Does that make it accurate? might or might not. The women might not even be from either of the groups, whom knows they might not even be Nigerians.

Whenever una argue history, una make me laugh.

Katsumoto: When you present a link to support your argument, you are a revisionist. But when you ask these guys to present something to support their arguments, its either in their grandmother's library in their villages or you have to believe them because they said so.

The picture shows Awo wearing what looks like a prisoner's uniform standing with the new Head of State right after his release (according to Tribune) yet some geniuses are asking whether the picture was taken in front of Calabar prison.
Are u ok? huh

The fact that someone could not readily provide evidence to back his assertion does not mean that he is making a fallacious claim or that the proof does not exist. I must confess that I'm one of those people that doubts most(if not all) of Dede1 claims. I only started to take a second look at his claims when I started to complement my heavy dependence on the online infos with books. In fact, some of my previously held beliefs has been so much challenged that I've lost faith in most infos I get online.
Also whenever I listens to some historians discuss most of the topics that has been thrashed here, they regurgitates some of the assertions made by Dede1, which ofcourse we dismissed as lies. Even the books from unsuspecting historians repeats most of his accounts. The only problem with Dede1 is that he is too academic. Therefore, most young posters here could not be able to catch up with his drift. Juxtapose him with sensational liars on this forum like Katsumoto, he compares unfavourably in the truth index based on the judgement of posters who are new to these aspect of Nigerian history. But the problem is that most posters could not distinguish truths from falsehoods. I doubt if Katsumoto could be able to debate in a google-free environment.
The other problem is that most of the books on Nigeria's history pre-1970 are not available online.

I also discovered that most of the outrageous lies that I read on the internet are not written down in books, even when the topics of note are discussed exhaustively in those books. I encourage everyone who is interested in this part of Nigerian history just like I do, to take to the books. Cos internet is riddled with lies, half-truths and misinformation that no serious enthusiast should take them serious. I believe that next generation will be quoting our comments on Nairaland as fact, just the way some posters here are quoting articles on nigerdeltacongress and dawodu at present.

Katsumoto: ACM

It appears you are either blind or unable to comprehend. You posted a link stating that biafrans were joining enmass to fight against biafra. Or rivers and southeastern states were not part of biafrahuh?

I am surprised dede missed that as well and as already affirmed that elaigwu was an unbiased writer. cheesy

Talk about scoring an own goal. A biafran providing a link that biafrans enlisted enmass to fight biafra. Plus they were dancing and partying as well as gowon prepared for action.
You are the one with serious comprehension issues here. On top of that, your condition is complicated by tribalism-induced selective amnesia. This has made it impossible for u to argue objectively.
Oh yes! I was waiting for u to pull off your usual stunt. I know that you will accuse me of lack of comprehension. grin Cos u are the smartest kid on the block. Therefore u have superhuman comprehension ability, while others are dunce. But your comprehension ability could not be able to let u know that Rivers state is located in southern Nigeria. In case your comprhension ability fails u, pls read the bolded below

Dede1: You sound very pathetic with this post. When J. Isawa Elaigwu wrote “many people of Rivers and South-Eastern State origin seen dancing in Lagos and enlisting en masse in to the Federal Army”, he was not in any form of illusion about his assertion.

I guess you mischievously decided to play ignorant to the fact that Elaigwu meant Rivers State and South-Eastern State of the twelve original states created by Gowon. Let me refresh your memory for good understanding of the facts. South-Eastern State as referenced in the book morphed into Akwa Ibom and Cross River States while Rivers State gave rise to Rivers and Bayelsa States.

In addition, remember there was East Central State. Did you catch the dude’s drift? I suggest you drop the bull horn about the reference made by Elaigwu on the states.

Besides, it has been repeatedly rehearsed that not everybody from eastern region is regarded as Biafran hence the issue of betrayal.

Katsumoto: I challenge you to provide a book, link, article that states that recruitment of Southerners into the armed forces started before the Biafran invasion. Please do not disappoint me this time.
Gowon had thus taken political initiative. In a swift process of political engineering, Gowon created a new 'Federation' with smaller and more subnational units. This move, was designed to 'correct the imbalance in the administrative structure of the country' and to 'minimize future political friction and ensure a stable federation'. He began to receive a 'flood' of messages of congratulation and support from Nigerians abroad and at home. Many people of Rivers and South-Eastern States origin were seen dancing in Lagos and enlisting en masse into the Federal Army.
