Adekun33:
Am 19yrs old and I am 188cm i.e 6.2ft. I feel so awkward about my height. I feel that am no longer tall but long, for a very long time now i hated everything about my height to the extent I feel very sad and depressed every day.

As a result of that, I've lost confidence in myself and also my self-esteem is nothing to write home about.

This has made me an introvert and I don't socialize.

So pls tall dudes out there, I want to know how you deal with your self esteem and confidence and also how you approach comments about your heights cuz am gradually going insane!!!
I'm 6.8 tall dude and I feel on top of the world. u supposed to be happy, not sad, since you're not even among 100 tallest men in your village, not to talk of ur state.
RomanceRe: My Sister Is About To Marry An Osu Man, About To Commit A Serious Taboo by actrinity(m): 10:11am On Nov 24, 2019
TheSkyIsBlue:
My Sister Is About To Commit A Serious Taboo All In The Name Of Marriage

Hello Nairalanders!

Please ignore any typographical or grammatical error. I just want to pour it out the way it is in my heart.

I am seriously confused and worried about what is happening in my family and I will appreciate your candid advice.

There is this guy my sister has been in a relationship with for over seven years now. so he actually asked her hand in marriage and decided to come see my parents for introduction, about some months ago. My family decided to take their time to find out more about the guys family background as is required in Igbo tradition.

After several questions asked, my family came to find out that the guy is an Osu (an outcast). On knowing this, everybody in my family told my sister to cut ties with him and discontinue the relationship because it is a big taboo to get married to an Osu in my place . If you do, no family member or friend will attend your wedding or even have anything to do with you again.

But my sister refused to listen to anybody claiming she really loves the guy, that they have been together for a very long time and that she is not getting younger anymore (mind you, she is in her early thirties). Everybody (my parents and extended family members) tried to talk her out of it but she still didn't listen.

After much pressure and her continues insistence, my dad decided to give them his blessings, although against his wish (my dad is actually not really deep into tradition). Now the guy has done all the traditional rights and paid for her dowry. Their wedding is coming up soon.

But the problem now is, according to tradition and from what I heard, if she was allowed to go with the guy without my dad giving them his blessings, the stigma would have just been on her and she alone would have been considered Osu, since she insisted to continue with the marriage. But now that my dad has given them his blessings, it is considered that all of us (her siblings) will also have that link of Osu too. Except if she decide to put an end to the relationship and discontinue with the wedding, which I don't think my sister is ready to do.

I am really worried and depressed about it, cause I don't want anything that will affect me tomorrow when I want to get married just because of my sister's mistakes.

I will really like to get opinions and sincere advice especially from those that are familiar with tradition, cause I'm seriously bothered. Thanks!
osu has been abolished in Igboland about a year or two years ago. The kings in Igboland came together, performed some rituals and declared that there is nothing like osu anymore. so my dear, leave ur sister to marry her love. there is nothing like osu anymore in Igboland. it has been abolished. law is made for man, not man for the law.
shalom.

That's wickedness bro and her God wil fight for her. so u prefer seeing her in the street, sleeping in gutters and turn to a full mad woman? Have u take a food and water to her for this past 3 days she has been inside, coz I'm sure she didn't lock the door from inside? Have u tried helping her out with the instability and it didn't work? PoliticsRe: Obasanjo's Claim Of Fulanization & Islamization Is Reckless & Unpatriotic -MSSN by actrinity(m): 12:09pm On May 22, 2019
[quote author=Lukgaf post=78597441]https://www.independent.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Muslim-Students-Society-of-Nigeria-MSSN.jpg

PRESS RELEASE

OBASANJO'S CLAIM OF 'FULANIZATION' AND 'ISLAMIZATION' AS THE BASIS FOR 'BOKO HARAM' INSURGENCY, KIDNAPPING AND BANDITRY, IS RECKLESS UNPATRIOTIC AND UNCALLED FOR

On Saturday, the 18th day of May, 2019, a former head of State and former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was a guest speaker at the second session of the Synod of Anglican Dioceses held at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Oleh in Isoko Local Government of Delta State.

Speaking on the topic: "Mobilizing Nigeria's human and natural resources for national development and stability", Chief Obasanjo claimed that "FULANIZATION and ISLAMIZATION of West Africa" is now the main reason for 'boko haram' insurgency, kidnapping and banditry. In his words, the former president said: "It is no longer an issue of lack of education and lack of employment for our youths in Nigeria which it began as, it is now West African Fulanization, African Islamization and global organized crimes of human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking, gun trafficking, illegal mining and regime change".

MSSN B- Zone believes that the statement relating the crimes to Islam, and most especially coming from a former head of State and former President, is not only reckless, it is unpatriotic and uncalled for.

If despite the incomparable loss of lives by Muslims in the boko haram insurgency and other criminal activities, people like Obasanjo still find it difficult to believe that the crimes have no way in Islam and can go ahead to associate them to Islam, it is most unfortunate and highly dissapointing to say the least.

If we must remind Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, perhaps he has forgotten, his regime as President of Nigeria gave rise to regional insurgency such as Niger/Delta militancy and Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) with the militants being mainly southern christians, yet, nobody ascribed the militancy to 'CHRISTIANIZATION'

Also considering where Obasanjo chose to make the reckless statement, the congregation being purely southern Christians, it shows Obasanjo deliberately made the wrong assertion to instigate tribal and religious crisis. This is worrisome and unbecoming of somebody of Obasanjo's status as former head of State.

In the circumstance, MSSN B-Zone condemns in the strongest term the statement made by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo claiming what he called ISLAMIZATION as the reason for boko haram insurgency and other criminal activities.

We want to state it for the umpteenth time that insurgency, kidnapping, banditry, drug trafficking been perpetrated across all states in Nigeria and by people of different religions and tribes, have no basis in Islam and have nothing to do with Islam and Muslims.

We call on Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to be careful in his statements and stop making statements defamatory and indicting of Islam and Muslims in Nigeria in order not to put Nigeria in an avoidable tribal and religious crisis.

We finally call on well- meaning Nigeria and international community to call Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to order in his reckless statement capable of throwing Nigeria into conflict. As an old man and a former President of the country, he should be more patriotic and concentrate on actions that can bind Nigeria together rather than those that can break it.

A Tanzanian policeman has reportedly sued his friend, for failing to impregnate his wife after trying for 77 times. Darius Makambako, 50 and his Precious, 45 who wanted to have a child chose another way, after they were told by a renowned doctor that the man was sterile. The Tanzanian policeman who alongside his wife was tired of being in a 6 years childless marriage, chose his neighbor Evans Mastano, 52 a fellow police officer to impregnate his wife.

Makambako who is a member of Tanzanian police force (Traffic department), paid Mastano 2, 000, 000 Tanzanian Shillings for the job for three evenings a week for the next 10 months. However he failed to fulfill the task after 77 times. It was further gathered that Evans was also pronounced sterile by doctors.

The Tanzanian policeman who now sued his friend for failing to impregnate his wife after trying for 77 times, accused Evans of breach of Contract in an effort to get his money back. It was further gathered that Evans refused to give it back, because he said he did not guarantee conception.

Even in saner climes, stray, wild or dangerous animals are shot at sight in certain circumstances. It is instinct that tells people to attack first when they come across anything that poses threat. When you see a viper in your room, go to bed and sleep since it is humanity. I am not for animal brutality, but you don't take chances with venomous snakes around you. Girl Born Without Hands Wins National Handwriting Competition (Photo)

A 10-year-old girl with no hands have gone viral after she had an audacious win in a National Handwriting Competition.

Parents and educators have been worrying about the “dying art” of handwriting for years, as smartphones and laptops have lead some classrooms to spend less and less time on teaching the fine art of writing in cursive.

Sara Hinesley, a third-grade student in Frederick, Md., though, finds writing cursive “kind of easy”, using her cursive skills to win a national handwriting competition. It’s an impressive feat made even more impressive due to the fact that the 10-year old was born without hands.

Hinesley, who writes by holding her pencil between the ends of her arms, was trained in the fine art of penmanship by her teacher and quickly learned to love writing. “She can do just about anything — oftentimes better than me or my husband,” her mother, Cathryn Hinesley, told CNN.

Hinesley entered the 2019 Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest, and the judges were so impressed with her perfect penmanship that she won the Nicholas Maxim Award, which is given to an entrant with a physical, developmental, or intellectual disability. The award comes with a trophy and $500 in prize money as well as $500 in educational materials for her school.
