The debate/argument about superiority or who leads a construction team is not really necessary. It all depends on the peculiarity of the situation. I have seen construction companies whose teams are led by QS, some Architect and some builders.

However, the architect is usually the prime consultant in most project and do lead the project team more. From experience, For government projects, the Architect usually leads the project consultants (QS, M and E Engr, Structural Engr, etc) But that is not about superiority. When you have 2 or more persons, one must take leadership, the same is applicable to family.

Dont forget that a relatively new discipline has emerged in the construction industry which is construction project management.

My input is concluded here: let each professional stay on his track. I am a Quantity Surveyor (QS) and a Certified Construction Project Manager (CPM)
Construction is such a broad topic, so what you have said should be be limited to building construction.

I am sure an Architect has no leadership place in a bridge construction, power substation, road construction etc

Who is team lead in a bridge construction, a civil Engineer. Who is team lead in a power substation construction, an Electrical Engineer. Who is team lead in a petroleum refinery construction, a petroleum Engr.

Yes, construction project management is relatively new but the practice has been there. People who are qualified for this position are usually people who have proven experience in project management. Another relatively new discipline is cost engineering.
Crime › Re: Premature Ejaculation Saved Woman From Raped In Zimbabwe by adanny01(m): 4:01pm On Sep 02, 2020
winkmart:
An unnamed woman was saved from getting raped by a man in Gwanda, Zimbabwe after the man suffered premature ejaculation while attempting to assault the woman.

The suspected rapist who appeared before a Gwanda magistrate, insisted on explaining and justifying why he had attempted to rape his neighbour. He alleged that he carried out the rape as revenge because his neighbours were bewitching him.

According to the suspect, his neighbours use charms to make him sleep with the complainant at night to enrich themselves.

He said;

However testifying in court, the prosecution said the man nearly raped the woman but couldn’t due to premature ejaculation. After the failed rape attempt on August 21, the accused person reportedly warned the woman not to divulge what had occurred.

The Chronicle reported that the victim disregarded the warning and reported him to the police. The prosecution said;

Magistrate Nyathi remanded him in custody till September 8.

Technically, he didn't rape her since there wasn't penetration.

He sexually assaulted her.

Ironically; even as an Arhitect I learnt most of the things I know working under a QS...

THERE IS SOMETHING CALLED EXPERIENCE....... and YES; ANY1 ON THE BUILDING INDUSTRY (Archy, QS, Builder or Structural Engr) can lead the team.

anything else is politics
Is it not this "experience" that has caused the rampant building collapse and the wasteful building standards we have in this country?

An experienced plumber will put 2 inspection chambers for 2 adjacent toilets. Does it really make sense to do that.

Only experience will make you fear to use one inspection chamber for both. This is at the detriment of common sense or even new innovations.

On the main issue, that an Engr was replaced by a QS is not a matter of the professions, it is a simple matter of selfishness and greed. I have seen too much of it played out on site. If the Engr was brought to a site supervised by a QS, the same thing will play out just to outwit one another. Its just a matter of each man to himself.

I have worked as a Civil Site Engr when a Chemical Engr was brought to be my Chief Engr. I resigned 2 weeks later not because he is not qualified to be my chief but that he wasn't particularly interested in delivering a good job or the job at all but just interested in the money. He was a personal friend of the boss who isn't a technical person, so the boss natural felt he was dealing with someone who is a friend and technical.

You have zero knowledge of the car you've been driving for 3 years. Absolutely zero knowledge. I don't know how you managed that but I'm amazed. Ask around. Most acuras share parts with Honda. This very 2012, the shock I'm using now is an honda civic 2014 shock.
It was expensive right but it definitely wasn't hard to find! And before you say, I got the Acura too, just decided to buy the Honda cuz it was brand new from Belgium
There is no way an Acura TL will share the same shocks with a Civic.

Shocks are designed to carry a certain weight and to handle a certain way. Those two cars are very far apart that they cant share the same shocks.

The physical dimensions and appearance of the rear shocks could be same but not the same spring or inner working parts.

Besides, Honda Civic front suspension is usually the MacPherson suspension system while Acura TL is the usual Double wishbone. Those two will be completely different and cannot be interchanged.

Two things are involved my brother abi my sister .
1. Kindly confirm if the bank actually added you mum as a second signatory.
2. If yes confirm the terms used in adding the second signatory.eg if the mandate given is both to sign, or 2 cannot sign without 1, then that means you need to bring A letter of Administrative, but if the mandate says either to sign then know that the bank is actually looking for your trouble.

From experience what I feel is your mum wasn't given full right to sign.
90% of posters on this issue either didn't read or understood the opening post. We really have comprehension issues in this country.

You have hit the nail on the head.

If the wife was not added as either to sign, it means the bank either deceived the late father or refused to carry out his instructions since he meant to give the wife access if he is not there.

No it doesn't. It's not a normal account. Even if there's a co-signatory. Also, I don't think the bank should've allowed him drop such an instruction concerning his "demise". He should just get a Letter of Administration, it will make it easy to access all his dad's funds everywhere.
To what benefit is a co-signatory to an account if the co-signer has no rights?

There are 2 reasons of having co-signatory

1. Both parties must sign

Or

2. Either party can sign

If the fix deposit has option 1, LoA is required but if its option 2, she should have complete access to the account.

Mind you, a fix deposit is also an account, it just doesn't have withdrawal.

You see if you want to avoid letter of administration both signatories must be able to sign independently. A or B to sign not A to sign and conditionality now attached to B signing. Like you have said after the death of your father, won’t work. The snag of both signing independently is that you are the mercy of your spouse he or she can do and undo with your funds.
Yours is the 1st reasonable post after the op.

Everyone thinks the wife was made next-of kin but op said co signatory.

In this case, we don't know if both signatures are required or one. If both are required, the LoA is the way to go but if one signature is required then LoA is not required.

The bank knows the difference but may not divulge if they have an interest.

As a co-signatory, the wife can get full details of the account and meet a lawyer to shake the up a little.

If there is any truth to what they are saying, it will come out.

My dear brother, I can understand how you feel about the entire bureaucracies but yes, the bank is right in their assertion.

A letter of administration or LOA is a standard requirement to enable a next of kin(s) to access a deceased's account.

It might seem stressful and expensive but its wholly legal the world over.
You sound like a banker but deliberately do not want to see the point of view.

Op said the wife was made co-signatory not next of kin. You should know the difference.

It makes the fix deposit a joint account.

Have u ever asked ursef why people climb mount everest....some people love taking up challenge.
As we speak I just tore down my generator engine, it cost more(time and finance) doing it myself cos I had to buy some tools which I don't have; its not about the cost but the idea of challenging one's self and the fulfilment that comes with achieving a goal.
I took my generator for service before I traveled one time, before then, I did it myself and will not have issues.

This time while away, the gen was over heating and will stop. My wife was furious that I didn't do it myself like i used to. Even she has noticed that when I service the gen myself, the gen continues to work like it has been doing but once a mechanic touches it, we will have to go back to the mechanic with complaints.

Lets ask ourselves one question, over 50% (I don't want to exaggerate but its far higher) of car mechanics do not have cars or don't drive longer than a 2-5mins test drive. Some don't even know how to drive. This makes it hard for most of them to imagine the actual driving problems faced by the driver.

So if a vehicle owner comes with a complain that the car overheated yesterday, they have no idea what happened, they will only want to prevent it by connecting the cooling fan direct and removing the thermostat leaving the real problem behind.

I asked my former boss why is a job advert of a driver always written "Driver/Mechanic" when they still send the car to a Mechanic to fix a problem.

The easiest patient of a Dr is the one that can tell the Dr his problem. In the absence of that, only a test can say. Beyond that, na Paracetamol or other NSAIDs.

Self medication is bad but Drs teach Diabetic patients self medication. Some people have private jets but don't just want to be chauffeured, they want to fly it themselves.

These days, DIY is a hobby, you can even add it to your CV.

Few things I noticed. You didn't sand down the old paint before spraying again. You need to do that to remove rough and dirt. Then you didn't start with primer.
Yes I skipped primer. In fact most painters don't do full body primer.

Primer ensures better adhesion of base coat to surface. The adhesion will increase durability. Since I am testing, primer is not a critical part.

Sanding down the old paint is not as easy as you think. In fact, to sand down a whole car to bare metal is a job you wont give an enemy. It is never done that way. In this case, the piece I tested was plastic. You don't want to sand to bare plastic as plastic will wear down very fast and leave a rough surface compared to a painted surface.

On the last sanding i did, I washed the part with thinner which removed 2 coats of paint and left me with the factory paint. I didn't even know the part was engraved until the thinner washed out the 2 coats of paint then the engraving was exposed. I sanded the factory coat and got to bare plastic on some spots, especially the edges.

The only thing to ensure is getting a smoothened, evened and leveled surface.

Besides, the aim of the test was to ascertain the quality of spray. And I did find out that my spray gun can spray an acceptable quality of clear coat but not base coat.

Spray gun, am not buying again. Why I didn't buy on AliExpress last time was the shipping cosr. I was getting the spray gun at 10 to 20k and shipping 50k and above.

I have been searching for the nozzle on AliExpress. I just saw what looks exactly like my nozzle but its a 1.8mm.

I would like a 1.3-1.5mm but can't find it yet.

Why don't you source for the correct nozzle sizes from overseas specifically the US of A?
That's the way to go but how long will the delay be?

Besides, I own a spray gun already which I got locally. It wasn't my first or second choice mainly because I knew before buying that it came with just one nozzle unlike other non locally available brands that could have as much as 4. (See pix below)

Secondly, I just cannot rush to buy another nozzle and risk the fact they are not just one part fits all. The spray gun below comes with a plastic nozzle while mine has a copper nozzle. Another issue is the spool needle design and size.

My nozzle looks like pic 3. But my own nozzle is threaded and screwed to the plastic with a 13mm flat wrench. If I buy this one and cannot remove or install the copper part, I would just have waster more money. This nozzle is for another brand of spray gun (pic 4) but I believe it bears a close resemblance.

Been following this thread for quite some time and I'm loving ur DIY Spirit cos we share similar traits but for real I don't think painting an entire vehicle is an easy DIY task,if it were just the bumper or fender I'll give my full support but doing a full body spray job; I'll advice u leave it to the experts.
The actual painting of a car is not more than 2 or 3 hours. The DIY challenge is energy, time, tools and the condition of the car body that requires painting. With a car that needs panel beating, the skill required and energy to be dispensed is far greater to a car with perfect body that needs touch up.

Yes, I know its challenging, what I set out to do is to break the jinx that supposedly prohibits a DIY enthusiast who has minimal tools and skills to embark.

That's why all my challenges are documented so as to establish the DIY limits with regards to painting. In my own case, it is limited by the budget I have set and the availablity of budget tools I require.

Before now, DIY painting is a no go area with one reaction, "leave it for the experts". This thread opens the topic to specifics of the limitations.

Please advice me on this.
You have been advised but let me summarize.

1. If you earned the money without cheating your boss, i will suggest you keep it.

2. If you earned 1 it by cheating him then return it.

3. If its 1, keeping it in an account that has your namei is risky. He can find out. You can do other things that will not involve you keeping the money in your account.

4. If its 2 and returning the money, never return the cash at once. When ever you are giving him proceeds say 500k make it 700k and continue to do that until the 1.3m is finished.

My own case.

It was unintended.

A friend offered me a drink I never drank before, he insisted so i trusted him and took it. It didn't take long before I realised it was so strong and I am in trouble so I left immediately.

My eyes was spinning and my house was like 5km away and was getting dark but I couldn't concentrate on driving. I parked, locked myself and left the car on with AC. I slept for 30mins. When I woke up I didn't feel safe so I managed to drive home. I didn't want my wife to see me in the state so I slept in the car, outside the gate with the car on for another hour. It was still not subsiding so I managed to drive in.

I slept off in the sitting room only to be woken up by piss. I remember going to pee and the next thing my wife was barking down at me.

I woke up startled and annoyed that she was not considerate in my situation, only for me to notice my strange bed and location. I only then realised I was on my maids bedroom and bed. I still carry my shame around.

I learnt my lessons with alcohol and have made very strict rules for myself.

After a night chill with friends, we got home, we decided to go in through the fence because we knew that the gate will probably be locked.

All my fiends succeeded in climbing and jumping over the fence except me and one other idiot. The guy leaned on the gate and the gate opened, lol we didn't know all the while the gate was open.

Well shayo made us close the gate back and still use the fence to enter the house.

What have u done under the influence of alcohol...
Ur own better. My friends own is similar but worst.

He came home drunk around 5pm, it was cloudy. His mum had visitors, her friends were at the front porch while his mum was in the kitchen fixing something for her friends.

My friend thought it was very late and the gate would've been locked so he scaled the fence.

He dropped when they were looking at him. He still didn't see them and started to tip toe going to the back door before they call his attention.
Car Talk › Re: I Am Considering DIY Car Painting, What Do You Think? by adanny01(op):
So, once again, I have made series of trials yesterday and have arrived at a conclusion.

First, I sanded the last paint with soft sandpaper. I was able to experience the difference between wet and dry sanding. I must confess, as small as the part was, sanding took some time and effort to even out. So, I can only imagine how stressful it would be to sand an entire car.

Secondly, I bought the paint in same quantity but with more thinner. I proceeded to paint the base coat.

The result of this stage was a cause for concern. I wasn't satisfied with the base coat again like last time. I added more thinner, did another coat and the result became poorer.

I proceeded to buy more thinner, washed the new coats of paint. The thinner even washed other previous coats and left an uneven surface. I did another round of sanding, bought and sprayed another coat of base coat. This time, it was presentable but not of the quality I was looking towards.

At the end, I sprayed the clear coat which came out very good.

In conclusion of the trial session, the problem experienced is spraying the base coat. The clear coat comes out neat and smooth devoid of orange peel. The base coat is not smooth at all no matter the amount of thinner applied.

The final resolution arrived at is that, I have no issue with clear coat but have serious issues with base coat. The clear coat being thicker. The main reason for such a result though is the nozzle size. I did mention before the trial that recommended nozzle size is 1.3-1.5mm. My spray gun has only one nozzle of 2.5mm which is quite large to give a good result especially with the base coat. Until I am able to find an appropriate sized nozzle, am afraid I won't get a good result.
