SillyMods: I understand your point clearly. The questions remain:
1. Did INEC officials use the e-collation in all polling units?
2. If the above was actually done, isn't it a violation of the Electoral Act which forbids electronic transmission of election result?
3. If #1 above was indeed done, will it be superior to the manual collation and announcing of results which is what the EA recognizes?
4. How would Atiku and PDP have known what's in INEC server without hacking it or compromising INEC and/or indeed tampering with INEC server? Guy, you make sense die. These people seem like the lost their senses o. As far as am concerned, this election was far more credible to 2015 elections. Atiku is just a very bad loser and think he had premedicated his plan to drag the credibility of the election in the mud. I just pity Mahmud Yakubu who has done his best but PDP will never give him credit and instead he gets insults. Nigeria is a hard country to lead. |

Akingun1990: No, there is an interphase on the Smart card reader that says E-collation, once you are in this phase you send the total accredited number of voters and ALSO the specific number of each political party votes, Mind you this concluded election, most party were not duly represented on the smart card platform, nonetheless the major contenders I. e PDP and APC were represented and the result ascribed to each political party in conformity with the results obtained from elections broad sheets from polling unit were transmitted to INEC, So I wouldn't know wether INEC sieves the results from accreditation at there back end server..... It wasnt working. When you click on it, it displays an error message. I was PO and had a voting point. That means we had 2 card readers and both e-collation app didnt open in both elections. The tech guy comfirmed that the feature wasnt deployed. |

Xxpress: You are wrong. The card reader used in 2015 is different to the one used this year Absolutely incorrect, its the same thing. They only purchased extra to provide spares. They also purchased more spare batteries, chargers and generators. The spares were among those that were deployed to replace the burnt ones in Enugu INEC fire. Its the acreditation app that was updated. In 2015 the card reader didn't transmit acreditation data like the one in 2019. Though INEC installed an e-collation app but was not functional. The card reader is basically an android 4.2 phone. |

naijapips04: So you know that there's an INEC database. Good. when that database data is not tallying with what was announced globally. so INEC would have to show us individual what different collation officers transmitted to them as the result and the disparity between that and what was announced globally as the state results. Where did you get the INEC database that you conclude it does not tally? Collation officers don't transmit results. The collate results and put them in a result sheet. Only a result sheet shows the results, there are no results from any INEC database. Even if there is, the result would not be acceptable to the electoral law. |

Information from INEC server were transmitted by the different collation officers and not from the card readers.
APC are jittery already. You are a liar. Through what medium did collation officers do that officially. The electoral law only recognize result sheets as the only result record. Nothing else is acceptable. The only thing INEC server gets is the number of accredited voters from the card readers when elections are closed. PDP is seriously misleading a lot of people. |

Computers › Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by adanny01(m): 1:14pm On Mar 20, 2019*. Modified: 8:17pm On Mar 20, 2019 |
mctfopt: A fan is about 80 to 100w for the regular fans and about 30 to 70w for the rechargeable type. A TV is from 55W (if 32 inch LED) if more the wattage increases, conversely, if less it'd consume less. A deep freezer wattage ranges between 200w to 450w depending on the size, make and model of the freezer and the temperature of the items in it. The freezer draws more current if, for instance, the things inside it are not cold; and the freezer takes less current if already cold.
The favourite low energy bulb ranges from 3w to 20w. I'd assume the lamp you are using is 15w; therefore total power consumption is 45w for the bulbs.
So assuming your total load, I can say you have 300w ( deep freezer) + 100w (fan) + 45w (bulbs) = 445w
You didn't make any mention of the number of hours you plan to use it, so again, I'd assume you want to use it for six hours (between 10am to 3PM)
Energy consumed is 445w x 6 hours = 2670 watt-hours (WH)
If you are running a 24V battery system, i.e. an inverter that needs two 12V batteries to function, to calculate the theoretical number of batteries capacity required we have:
2670wh / 24v
111.25Amps dc per hour draws from the system.
Battery capacity is expressed by how many Amps for how many hours a battery will last - Amp-Hour (A.H.) capacity.
For 6 hours for a 24-volt battery, we will require 111.25 amps DC x 6 hours = 667.5AH
If you are buying 200AH batteries that will be 667.5AH / 200AH = 3.3375 or approximatively four batteries.
I see someone selling 200ah batteries 70k here. Though prices change dependent on make and quality. That means you require 70k x 4 = N280k for batteries.
Now since the calculated energy is 2670wh, you will need some solar panels to replace the 2670wh of power consumed by the devices you run.
A 300watt panel will produce in 6 hours of sunlight 300*6 = 1800wh.
But we know in reality that it will not produce 100% of its rated capacity but rather between 30 to 50% of that. Going by worst-case scenario (30%) we have 1800wh * 0.3 = 540wh
Therefore we will need 2670/540= 4.9444 which we round to the nearest figure- 5 numbers of the 300w panel.
Assuming you buy the standard Chinese clone which ranges between 52k to 60 k you will require 52k x 5 = 260k
In Summary
Battery cost = 280k
Solar panel cost = 260k
I did not add the cost of the inverter and charge controller.
I can only say the budget between 200k to 220k for both.
That makes the total cost approximately 740k.
This may be less or more depending on the quality of the product used and the person running the installation. I was only trying to give you an idea.
Experts are welcomed to weigh in on this
FYI: I did not add the cost of wires, installation of the solar panels, breakers and other accessories as that is dependent on the person(s) doing the job for you. This is just purely an approximate estimate. If the demand is summed to be 2670wh. One 12v 200AH battery stores a total of 200x12=2400wh However, for better life span a battery should not be completely discharged. So, depending on the inverter Depth of discharge setting, i would assume the worst 90%. Only 2400x90% is available =2160wh 2 batteries x 2160 =4320wh Inverters incure losses during conversion of DC to AC plus other loses due to wiring and others. This is usually between 10-30%, lets take a deduction of 20%. 4328wh x 80%=3456wh 3456wh/445w= 7.77hrs The PV panels required to fill back the batteries in 6hrs of a days sunshine is 4320wh/6h=720w Assuming a 50% efficiency 720w/.5=1440w 1440w of panels should fully charge in 6hrs For 300w panels 1440w/300=4.8 approx 5panels For 1440w/250=5.76 approx 6panels |

Xisnin: Any constitutional provision to back up your point? What the president believes is immaterial.
The CJN is not some terrorist threatening to nuke Nigeria and the constitution does not allow Buhari or the CCT chairman to unilaterally remove him.
Even in the wake of 9/11 attacks in the US, the patriot act had to be enacted to give the executive the power to take extra-constitutional actions against perceive enemies.
You have been conditioned to think of presidents as emperors who can do whatever they want. The function of the legislatures and judiciaries is to checkmate executive powers. Did you miss this aspect of the political class?
If the country laws allow Buhari to do whatever he wants, then there is no point paying senators and judges for doing nothing.
You talk about foreign media as if our system of government was a result of designs and debates by Nigerians. Every aspect of our current government is copied from the "foreigners" you probably think are clueless.
If Buhari wants dictatorial powers, let him go to the Senate and ask for it.
It doesn't matter if the constitution doesn't forbid an action, the judiciary can rule against such action or the lawmakers legislate against it.
I notice that you are conflating constitutional violations with human rights when they are not the same. Of course, a constitutional violation can be a human right issue but not all human right issue is a constitutional violation.
You probably think that Buhari's violation of the constitution is a sign that he has unlimited power.

joysy4791: Please house, is there any law/regulations guiding the use of electric wire fence in residential area? My concern: I witnessed some people arguing whether it is appropriate to use it in the neighbourhood or not. In fact, a guy swore that he will never allow his neighbours to install it or else, they will settle it in court I have always planned to use it in my house. Kindly share your thoughts. Thanks I dont think there is such a law since its use is widespread in Nigeria already. As per settlement in court, he wont win unless his neighbor is installing on the fence he built. The neighbors could build their parallel fence, and install. It is their property. The only illegal thing is to energize the electric fence without a warning sign. Also warning signs must be placed at most every 10m of fence line, at the access gate to the property, at the fence corners and the fence min height from ground level on both sides is 1.5m. Lastly, an electric fence operates like a tazer gun police or women carry for the protection. It will subdue you for some seconds but will not kill. It cant be illegal and no court will prohibit it when installation is up to regulation. Personally, if my neighbor has it, the only reason i will get tazed is if i intentionally touch it. I have razor wire on my fence for several years, how many times did the wire cut me? Besides, the person argueing probably doesnot know that the system isnt a direct AC current connection which would definitely kill. Electric fence is a pulsed low current high voltage electric device that shocks you (not fatally) for a second or less. Our instinct is designed to withdraw from it and being pulsed it gives you the opportunity to withdraw unlike direct AC current that isnt pulsed. You will stick to that direct AC current but not with this system. Its just like touching a hot object. |

i managed it for a while till i got to a town where i got a mechanic to check it. He said the gear oil was low so the tramsmission was vomitting oil on the hot emgine causing smoke.
The recommemded oil was not available so we cleaned and topped it with ABRO ATF and i moved.
The gear was shifting smoothly till i got to Okada in Edo State. The smoking started again and gears wasnt changing. i parked and got mechanic again.
Same problem - gear oil was bad. Recommended oil wasnt available. We had to flush the transmission completely and use Dextron III so i could continue my journey.
I drove to Lagos without further trouble but some days later as i was going home, I noticed the car wasnt speeding no matter how much I throttled.
The gear wasnt changing and my car was crawling. Could barely climb a small slope on the road. It had to be pushed to a safe spot for the night.
The next morning, I drove it home without issues then called a mechanic. The guy says I have to buy a new transmission. I really no dey buoyant now.
Please any suggestions on what to do? The car is parked right now but moves well. I suspect the problem might be solved if I use the right oil - WS. That car transmission no be one wey you go play Abro with o. I suggest you flush right away and hope it will work. |

They brought his official declaration for the lawyers to compare with their copy but instead, the lawyer says the form is lose, mutilated and discoloured. Does that make the document inadmissible or tampered? He doesnt want to admit it into records so that they will start looking for techniclities to bring down the case. Nnabugwu8590: Does CCT have constitutional power to suspend Onnoghen on his trial that he is yet to be found guilty? No they dont with respect to the fact that they have not tried him and found him guilty. What the Constitution allow the CCT to do is to try him, if found guilty, punish him. The prescribed punishment may be removal from office, ban from public office and forfeiture of the assets in question. However, in my opinion, this is a major lacuna that our constitution does not envisage. The CCT even has the right to remove the president. The question is how can they try the president in court when he has immunity? How can the CCT try the head of Judiciary when his case could reach his own court. Besides, the CJN deployed illegal evasion tactics. Judges also depend on morality to perform their duties, sitting in the dock erodes the CJNs moral right to head the judiciary. Unfortunately for him, he morally tried and convicted himself by accepting the charges but refusing to be docked. All these are not excuse for the CCT to do what they are not empowered to do constitutionally. The question would have been, what if the CJN is not guilty. He lost out on that question because he agreed on record to the charges. The next question is, is this not a bad precedence? Yes it is because any president could trump up frivolous charges aimed at removing the head of the judiciary. My opinion is that it may not work next time especially because this CJN admitted guilt and set himself up for the treatment he got. Probably, if Onnoghen didnt admit to forgotten those accounts, he would not have been disgraced out. CCT did wrong but in good faith. I think the CCT act should be amended to add suspension for a specific period and his case must be concluded within that period. This is to prevent doing this to a CJN that isnt guilty and even if its done, it will give the CJN the right to challenge and win move on in the office. We all know this CJN isnt coming back since his suspension is indefinite. |

ruddyman500: I got married to my wife in 2017 and we have been living together since, we have a child together but there is this problem with her anytime it has to do with any of her EX. i will cite some of what happened .
She wanted to organise a programme at a time and the person she could think of is one of her ex who happens to be a media guy, i told her point blank that i dont want her to go met the guy but she explained to me how the guy will be of help to her in the programme she is planning, i let her be cos i dont want to be seen as someone throwing spanners in the wheel of her progress, i supported her and the programme was a success.
Another instance was when her mother died, and they were planning the burial ceremony with her brothers...my wife got home and told me that she told her brothers that she will talk to a musician to come play at the ceremony and the said musician happens to be another ex of hers. i told her right there that am not comfortable with it at all how could ur ex come to sing at her mums burial and i will be there dancing to his tunes?...after so much back and forth , i told her i will only attend the church service and i or any of my people will not come for the party, that was when she made last minute changes and went to book another musician.
The last straw that broke the carmels back was yesterday....I and her have been having some issues of late and we talked over it infact we are just coming out of the tensions....then yesterday morning around 8am she told me that another ex of hers called her overnight and told her that his mum just passed away and he could not think of anyone to call but her cos he is so broken, she said she had sent her condolences already but that she will like to go greet the guy and his siblings cos they are in their fathers house [ the guy is still single ooo although they broke up in 2013] and that she will be able to know about the burial arrangements so she can plan on attending the burial..so she asked me for permission if she could go and pay them a visit yesterday..... Normally i wld not have allowed her but i thought what is she didnt tell me and went there and secondly cos of the tension we just went through and i dont want another tension to build again , i told her i will only allow her to either go greet them yesterday or she goes for the burial ...I told her i will only allow her to choose one . She then asked me in strong tone why i didnt wnat her to attend the burial.....At that point i left the room cos i was not ready for another round of arguments.
She did not say anything again until afternoon, i went to my living room and asked her if she is no more going on the visit again she said she already taken her bath and she will go n prepare now ....she entered the room and started dressing up, i went to meet her in the room and i told her that i allowed her to go cos i already gave her the permission but henceforth i will not allow such again ...Told her she is not the only person with exes , i dont allow issues of any of my own ex brew tension in my marriage , i told her i have an ex whose fathers house is just like 5 mins drive from inside the estate we live and when the man died my ex called me ..all i did was send her my condolence over the phone and i explained that i cant come for the burial cos i have a wife at home whose feelings i respect and that it ends there AT that point my wife flared up to the high heavens .....she started ranting that why am i caging her that i should give her reasons why she should not go that am just so obsessed with her am immmature, insecure and bla bla bla. I told her if loving my wife and protecting the dignity and integrity of my family for obsession then she is totally wrong. She said other men will not have any problem with it that why am i making an issue out of the situation, i explained to her that am not other men , What Mr A is comfortable with may not be so with Mr B cos we all have our individual differences .....One problem my wife have is she does not see reasons why i shld not accept what she seems right to her . I then told her to call any of her elder brother and explain this situation to him if he can allow such ....
This is a woman i never restricted her movements ....i only restricted her twice and they are both on health grounds...When she left i did what i have never done before [ i have never reported her to anybody either my family or hers no matter what happens i find a way we can solve it]...i called her very close friend and explained everything to her, the lady was surprised and she promised to talk to her....I also tried to call her elder brother who is a pastor but his phone is switched off and i have not been able to get through to him .When my wife came back she did not even greet meat all , she came to take our baby from me which i refused her, she went straight into her room, i later went into the room to lay our baby and i went into the guest room to sleep cos am so much in anger and i dont want the neighbors to hear any noise from my flat.
please i need sincere and honest opinion from married people on here ....i want to know if am at fault and secondly what next step should i take The only thing you did wrong was agreeing to baby sit your baby while she was with her ex. See the way i would handle it. Wifey: Honey, my ex lost his mum Me: So sad, was she sick? Wifey: Yes, she died of a protracted illness. I want to go and felicitate with the family. Me: Okay, i will drive you there. The End. If she says no, she knows its wrong to refuse my offer. If she insist, i will insist she goes with the baby. Sometimes, women dont deserve to be told exactly how the man feels. You told her how you feel, she concludes you are insecure and tells you to your face. If you dont tell her how you feel but offer support, even if she thinks you are insecure by your request to drive, she wont tell you and you avoid a problem. |

MRSALT: Then Tanko should explain the section of the constitution that authorise the President to appoint acting CJN. We all know that acting CJN comes into office upon the retirement of the substantive CJN and there is no provision in the constitution for the President to appoint whether acting or substantive CJN without the approval of NJC. No CJN whether substantive or acting can perform the duties of that office without being sworn in by the President or acting president. When a CJN is due to retire, the NJC makes its recommendation but if the president stays action until the tenure of the CJN expires, the next most senior judge must be sworn in in acting capacity even if he was not recommended by the NJC. NJC only recommends appointment of substantive CJN but that of acting is automatic to the most senior judge. Therefore, president didnt appoint the acting CJN, he only swore him into office. Note that it is not just by retirement that a CJN leaves office, there is death, resignation and removal by criminal conviction. In these situations, the NJC does not have the time convenience to recommend since there can be no vacuum in the office, the next must senior judge is sworn in immediately. Technically, the president did not remove Onnoghen nor appointed Tanko Mohammed, the CCT removed Onnoghen and the appointment of Tanko Mohammed was automatic by the constitution. |

But the appeal court or cct to suspend the CJN? Where did they get the powers from? The CCT has such powers, however, the powers is derived upon conviction which is among the punishment for breach of the CCT act. I believe it was overreaching that the CCT ordered for suspension before trial instead of arrest warrant. The CJN also f.cked up big time. He should have known better to preserve his name and the judiciary by stepping aside. He was advised wrongly. They say two wrongs dont make a right but i believe they did this time. |

rhymz: Hi Nairaland Auto experts, please I will like to know what the problem is before changing anything with my car. I use a Corolla sport 05, I have been struggling with the AC for a while now. I notice that the AC works excellently well in the evening when there is no sun and early in the morning but struggles to maintain a cool temperature especially for people at the back.
I have tried recharging but that has not solved the problem. If increase the AC to the highest in hot afternoons it just blows air . Also, I also noticed that it slightly gets better when the car is moving than when it is idle in traffic.
I took the car to an AC technician who poured water on the condenser and then asked us to rev the car up, after which I noticed a significant improvement, then he concludes that the problem is the compressor, that it was suffering from low pressure, that we need to change it and it will cost us 28k.
However, I want to get a second opinion as I suspect the condenser and possibly a blockage. I don't know if anyone has experienced this kind of problem before, I would appreciate any technical advise or recommendation or even an AC tech guy that knows what he is doing.
Thank you Warning, long post. I disagree with your AC technician. A compressor should not work perfect in the morning then quit in the afternoon. A basic understanding of the AC system should suffice at this moment. The compressor pressurises the refrigerant gas which makes it very hot then is sent to the condenser. Engine cooling fan blows the heat off in a kind of exchange at the evaporator and as the refrigerant cools down it turns to liquid, It then goes through the expansion valve which changes the liquid to gas through expansion which causes it to be cold and then evaporator fins take the coldness of the refrigerant by conduction. The cabin fan blows the cold from the fins (cold AC air you feel) as a result the refrigerant losses most of its coldness. The refrigerant gets back to the compressor where the gas compressed again. Now this is where the problem lies, compressor works under a max pressure and has a pressure kill switch. If the condenser does not cool the gas and turn it to liguid, expansion valve receives gas or hot refrigerant from the condenser, no expansion or cooling will be done and the gas will travel back to compressor (pressure will be high), it will quit via a pressure switch. So a perfect AC will shut off if the condenser doesnt do its job. Reasons for which a condenser will not do its job are; 1. Bad/blocked condenser fins (bad condenser) 2. Bad cooling fans 3. Too high ambient temperature What happens is that in the low ambient temperature (morning/evening/night/rain/harmattan), the condenser easily does its job until the afternoon when temp is high, its ineffectiveness will cause the compressor to either do a bad job of cooling or cut out entirely. When you are driving very fast (say 100km/h) wind speed through the condenser is increased considerably that the cooling fan gets all the assistance it needs so the AC will cool. Once, you stop or in a hold up, the condenser only relies on the cooling fan which if defective will be inadequate. My opinion is that it is either the cooling fan is bad or radiator fins are clogged or damaged or both radiator and cooling fans are bad. Lastly, the clogging can be at the coolant radiator which sits behind the condenser in most cars. The problem is that anything that causes low air flow will cause low AC cooling especially in the afternoon. |

Politics › Re: We’ll Challenge Almost All Governorship Poll Results At Tribunal –PDP by adanny01(m): 8:43am On Mar 16, 2019 |
Ebullience: The Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Diran Odeyemi, has said the party will challenge the results of the governorship poll in states where the party lost at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
The PDP chief, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Friday, also said the national body would support the governorship candidates during their legal battles.
Odeyemi said, “There is no doubt about that. We are going to the tribunal to challenge the results of the elections where we believe we have been rigged out. If we are challenging the presidential election at the tribunal, rest assured that we will challenge the governorship election because we know that we have been rigged out in many states.
“We are still collating the results from all the states. As soon as we finish collating them, we will head for the tribunal.
He added, “The national body has never abandoned anybody. They have always contributed to the electoral success and they are not abandoning anybody. That is why national officers are spread all over the country, so there is no national officer in any state that has not been reporting to the national office and the national office knows what is happening in all the states.”
Meanwhile, no fewer than eight candidates who lost the governorship election in their respective states have also expressed their readiness to approach election petitions tribunal to challenge the results of the election.
In Ogun State, for example, the candidate of the Allied People’s Movement, Adekunle Akinlade, rejected the result declared by INEC, due to what he described as manipulation, saying he would go to tribunal.
The Labour Party in the state has said it will also go to the tribunal over its exclusion from the ballot paper for the governorship election.
In Lagos State, the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, Chief Owolabi Silas, has rejected the result of the election, saying he will seek redress at the tribunal. He alleged that the APC colluded with INEC to manipulate the result of the election.
In Akwa Ibom State, the candidate of the APC in the election, Nsima Ekere, said he would go to the tribunal to challenge the victory of the ruling PDP in the state. He claimed that he won in 26 out of 31 local government areas in the state.
“We have evidence and we will use appropriate legal means to reclaim the mandate. I urge you all to remain calm,” he added.
In Ebonyi State, the candidate of the APC in the election, Senator Sonni Ogbuoji, who had earlier rejected the results of the exercise and called for its cancellation, said he would go to the tribunal.
In Kwara State, the candidate of the Alternative Party of Nigeria, Mohammed Abubakar, said he would file his petition before the tribunal within one week to challenge the omission of his party’s logo on the ballot paper.
He said he had petitioned the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, over the incident. On the other hand, the PDP Chairman in the state, Kolawole Shittu, said the legal team of the party was still reviewing the results.
In Cross River State, the candidate of the Young Democratic Party, Mr Emmanuel Undie, said he would go to the tribunal, alleging that the level of irregularities and rigging thwarted the will of the people.
Meanwhile, the APC Publicity Secretary in Delta State, Sylvester Imonina, said the party would go to the tribunal, adding that the party had begun gathering documents that it would use as evidence.
But, in Oyo State, the state chairman of the APC, Chief Akin Oke, said the party was considering going to the tribunal to challenge the victory of the PDP in the election.
https://punchng.com/well-challenge-almost-all-governorship-poll-results-at-tribunal-pdp/ Does that include PDP states? I guess not. Elections are credible only when PDP wins, what a party. |

Mandeyy: You're brain.less if you don't that power from Abuja was behind the cancellation. The only thing my bossom friend didnt tell me is, "you're brain.less". The rest i have heard several times, but i choose common sense to having a brain. As much as i dont agree to the reason the returning officer in Bauchi did what he did, it is my believe that he is an electoral umpire and his decision can only be upturned by a court. I also cannot visualize Yakubu from Abuja asking the Prof to cancel this LGA or that Ward or that polling unit. Yakubu only has the responsibility of cancelling a state as Chief returning officer. A state returning officer can cancel a local government but not a ward. A local government collation officer can cancel a ward but not a PU. A ward collation officer can cancel a PU but not his ward. Its a ladder, with immediate retrospective responsible. Yakubu has no responsibility with local government results in a gubernatorial election. Its the PDP's habit to view every political hurdle they cross as a conspiracy by APC or the government or even an unbiased INEC against them. Everyday we wake up from sleep with one PDP propaganda to another. Yesterday's own was the Elrufai's accident, today is Yakubu's involvement in Bauchi inconclusive elections. If I ask you for the link between Yakubu and the Bauchi returning officer, you will have nothing to say other than one is the boss. The truth is both of them are Profs, both hold an appointment with government in different capacities, both are independent in performance of their duties. How would Prof Yakubu, INEC chairman, order Prof Kyari Mohammed, Returning officer of Bauchi, a vice Chancellor of a University, to do what the VC would have done in conscience of his responsibility. Meanwhile, Prof Kyari is an ad hoc staff of INEC so cannot be said to be a subordinate of Yakubu. |
