Agreed. Another way is to get a small working setup with base features you want (the right inverter and the right charge controller, all the while having cables sized for the intended future load). Gradually add PV panels and batteries to you arrive at your destination. Gleaned the idea from a few fora online and it's worked perfectly for me.

Buying cheap can be costly and ruin a lot of other equipment in tandem, returning you to square one. Was in Asaba earlier this week and some dude paid dearly for going cheap - two rooms burnt and he was lucky not to ose the whole house to fire. Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

Buying CHEAP is not the problem. Buying SUBSTANDARD is. The most expensive is not always the most cost effective. You must strike a balance between paying for established brand name and quality. Price must never be your only consideration.

I had horrible experience with two 3KW models. I sold them off as scraps. I wont touch Must power again.

I would soon post the images and results of the Inverter (changed) that woke up those dying Trojan J185. Thanks for all your comments and contributions.

1 and 2 are live and neutral. They power the timer. 3, 4 and 5 are the switched terminals. NC means that the switch is normally closed (ON) and it opens (GOES OFF) when the timer is activated. NO means that the timer is normally opened (OFF) and closes (COMES ON) when the timer is activated. I use a few of this in my setup, mainly to switch my freezer and water pump to inverter in the money and put them back on NEPA in the evening. I used them in conjunction with contactors because I do not think they can safely carry the required currents. I also use them for my compound lights. They come on at 7.30pm and go off at 5.30am.

Yes, I have. I started off with a PWM (a 30A Phocus) and later moved over to Etracer MPPT. I currently have both a Midnite Classic 150 and Outback FM80. You really wont start experiencing the joy of having solar until you have an MPPT charge controller.

I believe that MTN does this deliberately. They are losing customers and sales because of these borderline criminal behaviours. It is the reason I do not subscribe to their data bundles on my main call line. When your data is inexplicably exhausted, they will start deducting your credit without warning. And like the OP realised, their data balance thing is a complete mystery; you have data balance, they use your credit, sometimes you have data balance yet you can not browse.

If you do not take this your faulty TV back, I enjoin you to take a chair, sit back and watch how God will dismantle your business and your life. Other buyers, beware. I was also taken in by the good reports from others, but who knows when next this fraud will go and buy another discarded TV and tell you that it got spoilt in transit. You have been warned.

Unless you are planning to use it abroad, IMEI blacklisting is not yet active in Nigeria. Look for other problem with the phone, not blacklisting. I have had a phone that worked perfectly in Nigeria only to find out that it was blacklisted in the UK.

I had an experience with buying fairly used TV a few days ago and I think I should share it here so that others may not fall into the same trap.

1. Bright pictures hide imperfections from most TVs. So, when you are purchasing a TV, look at it carefully. Look at bright picture, look at a dim picture, look at the screen when it is blank. It is good to ask the TV to be put off and then on again, and watch carefully as it is coming up. Many of the defects will be obvious at this stage.

2. Ask that all labels on the screen be removed. They use the labels to hide problems. See the pictures below. In the first picture, you will see an L-shaped label on the upper left corner. When I removed the label, you could see the white line they used the label to hide.

3. Test the 3D with appropriate glasses if 3D is important to you. Don't believe the story about special glasses and all that.

4. Don't by TVs by merely looking at photos or videos over Whatsapp. See the TV in person.

5. Preferably, insist on paying on delivery. Once your money has entered one chance, getting it back may be impossible.

I have been burnt, virtually lost 170K, it should not happen to anyone else.

A retired Nigerian Army Major General and a former head of state can not be "POOR" with his pensions. But may not be rich like IBB, Abdus-salami and Danjuma. Buhari is most probably the "POOREST" retired Major-General, former Military Head of State, former Governor and former Minister of Petroleum in Nigeria. Balarabe Musa should declare his assets so that we can see how "POOR" he is.
