Not all foreign remittance are brought into Nigeria. Many online remittance platform registered abroad simply get the foreign currency and credit the receiver with naira.

The difference between the official rate and black market rate means most people prefer to be paid at black market rate. Also, former CBN policies that prevented people from withdrawing usd across the bank counter discourage people from receiving funds into their dorm accounts.

Possible a significant portion of foreign transfer is now done directly crediting naira to the bank account and not necessarily funding a dorm account.

My humble advice, don't resign your job to do uber. Better you do both instead.

The good thing about a career is you can grow it rapidly if you are deliberate. I started my career in a consulting firm where people started started with 6 digits monthly as trainees and within 6-8 years most moved to 7 digits a month by honing their skills and seeking greater renumeration in the industry. Agressively pursue self development and seek growth opportunities.

Ride hailing may pay more now but may not give you such growth opportunities. Also, very little transferable skill should you decide to quit it in future.

It's unlikely the price of crude will dropped sharply below $70 a barrel. Even at the current price, the Saudis took a million barrel cut without opec. The breakeven point for american shale oil is also close to $60. So it's in America's interest to keep it above 60.

Nigeria's best hope is to bring down the exchange rate component or hope for a global recession that will drive down oil demand

Your assumption will only hold in a case of monopoly or monopolistic competition. The difference is too high to be seasonal variation.

I suspect the flights are one-way almost empty towards Nigeria and so charge higher for the return trip

I learnt that to pick BRP from a post office the decision letter and vignette is required that's why I've been worried. The pick up place chosen during my application is a post office.
And if it would be required of me to present it at the point of entry too.

If your passport has the right vignette, you shouldn't be asked for any further document at the point of entry.

UK Japa is not what most people that have travelled to UK were expecting.

Things are really tough for most Nigerians in UK. Some of them that passed through the student route have to cough out several millions of naira to pay the school fees and will have to work extra hard to achieve this. You see them crying in the night that God please help me through.

Most goods and services have gone up times 5 in UK and with the recent increase in the interest rate over there it seems there won't be a breather yet.

On the flip side most Nigerians that migrated are doing it for their kids future and we hope things get better with time.

And you learnt all this from living somewhere in Nigeria?

While ICAN in theory is equivalent to cima, acca, icaew. In practice some recruiters could look down on ican so your focus should be the uk chartered accountancy qualification.

You can do a conversion for icaew and cima with ican but I think you need a few years of experience (post qualification I think).

Acca is more straightforward

I was actually rude about the confrontation. I was angry and below is why I was angry.

Both my in-laws came to our house, though I knew they were coming but I wasn't cool with it because they were with us last year December/January this year then now. My wife knew I wasn't cool with it but she never cares. We were both sleeping on the same bed but weren't talking. We had an issue one night and she went to report me to her parents, but her parents never call me to ask for my side of the story. Note: My wife is a sweet soul without the influence of her mother.

You have no business scolding your inlaws, very disrespectful. It's your elderly family members that should talk to them if any issue and that should be a big issue.
