Career › Re: Is 400k Job In Nigeria Worth Staying Or Should I Japa? by Advision: 12:26pm On Jan 03, 2024 |
Elsucre24: I will be 31 this year. Omo the age is scaring me and I keep feeling like I’m not doing enough. I have a stable job in the private sector with a 400k monthly salary. But I still feel the impact of the economy badly. I keep asking myself, at what point will I start living the good live? I feel stock sometimes because my job is very demanding and I almost do not have time to do other things, mind you I’m in the medical field and I work Mondays to Sundays most times but occasionally I have some Sundays to myself and sometimes a day off during the week. I can’t seem to be able to start a business as a side hustle cause most of the side hustles I can think will demand my presence at least for the first few months and I don’t really have that. My girlfriend is pregnant, I really wanna keep it but she’s not ready, I’m not even sure I’m ready. The only way she can keep it is if I’m going to get married to her before the pregnancy starts showing and I’m as confused as hell cos I don’t know if I’m ready. She has always been vocal of her plans to japa. Now that brings me to the idea of Japa too. I mean, I cannot deny that fact that I’m scared of the whole japa stuff cos I don’t know what to expect. Economy doesn’t even allow you save as much as you should. Everything’s just seems very scattered.
Pls I need adult minds to advise me on what I can do. 1. Do I start a business, what kinda business can I start with at least 2M that will not require my full presence? 2. Do I start to plan my japa through the study route and just face my fears 3. Should I insist on keeping the pregnancy and hope that things start making sense? This means I have to get married tho.
Thank y’all. Hard to advise, 2 -3 years ago, I would have advised you leave because it was less expensive and countries were more open to immigration. Story has changed over the past year, |

ehizario2012: Thanks for your responses, including Sadiq and elengine.
I'll be needing like 3 more diets to finish ICAN if I want to continue so I have decided to start any of the more Internationally accepted qualifications.
Once again I'll need your input on choosing between ICAEW, CIMA or ACCA. Thanks honorable ACAs (FCAs maybe). depends on what you want and how fast you want it. ICAEW is more focused on the financial reporting and technical accounting side. CIMA is more focused on business partnering and management accounting bit. Can't say much about Acca. Once you have your ICAN, you only need to sit for a single exam to get CIMA certified. You need some experience but does not have to be post qualification. for ICAEW, no exam is mandated but 5 years of post-qualification experience is required, Most NHS jobs require CCAB accountants - ACCA & ICAEW are part of CCAB, not CIMA. So if the NHS is a major focus for you, ICAEW or ACCA gives you better leverage. |

ehizario2012: Hi Chief. I am currently on ICAN skills, remaining Performance Management and Financial Reporting to clear skills, I started with no exemptions because my first degree is in science. My last diet was May 2023. I am confused if I should continue with ICAN considering my place is far from the exam location, the cost and acceptability in UK. I am thinking of starting ACCA or CIMA outrightly... Please I need your advice.
Others' advice welcome too. Tx.
Happy New Year all. best you dont sit on ICAN. Outside the big accounting firms, it is not really known by many recruiters and may put you at a disadvantage for roles seeking qualified accountants. convert it to CIMA, ICAEW or ACCA when done. |

UptownVibes: Anyways let's see how it goes.. Flag person bvn cux of 12k ? Have you not spent over 20k since you have been on this issue? I think maybe the money you sent to him is above what you stated at first.. He told you he was busy ,and he didn't say he won't returned it.. He blocked you, that's probably maybe your calls were becoming disturbances to him. He has his life to live ,and can't put hold on his businesses because he wants to send you the money he didn't asked you to send to him..The suspected thief can get a good lawyer he can actually defend himself.. But I will really love to see how the case ends .. This is very insensitive and shows the warp mindset of some Nigeria. Granted, the sender has made a mistake, how does that justify the receiver stalling and claiming he has no time to check his balance. Assuming (which I doubt), he has no way to verify his balance in real time, he can simply walk up to the nearest ATM to confirm. That it is just 12k is also not a reason not to take it serious. The receiver is a scammar and you are likely no better |

I am now fully convinced God wants to disgrace a demagogue in power for his boats, blasphemous tendencies and his obstruction of the will of God over Nigeria.
Eastern Nigeria, time to create and economic region independent of the comedy happening in Niger same way white south Africa is running am independent African economy in South Africa Remember when they said "subsidy" was the problem and once it's gone Nigeria's economy would flourish and there will be so much more money for the government to spend on other things? Well, now it's no longer said to be subsidy as subsidy is gone and Nigerian have been sheen shege in return, Dangote refinery is the "new killer bullet" . |

Notfogotten: Please I have a question to ask.
I don't want to go into details so my partner doesn't trace this to me.
My partner came to UK before me, though still on student visa. I joined her with my 3 children one months ago.
I have noticed some red flags which never happened while we where in Nigeria and I was footing the bills alone.
Each red flag, I pretend nothing happened because I don't want to be thrown out like the man I read about on social media.
My visa is dependent on hers and we are still on student visa.
My question, in the event that we get papers to stay permanently in UK and one day she decides to send me packing or I decide move out, will I be asked to return to Nigeria because she is the main applicant?
Please I need urgent answers. I may not play the fool for long. We are very certain of getting papers next year. You have the opportunity to make more money than she can, please save some aside for "contigencies". Also, double your hussle for your own visa. |

Peter532: I don't know if I should be angry or just smile and take it as it is. This is someone that I fed, I clothed despite us being closed friends since we were kids. He knows everything about me that my parents don't even know till dates..We could go to a gathering together and I will be the one ordering and paying for everything we bought even recently because I always acted like the big bro and he accepted I guess .. Just last week I saw it on his status about is house opening invite. I later got a dm from him that same evening telling me about it that I should come through.
It came as a surprise I admit, even though I know he was doing quite well for himself. I know some will call it entitlement mentality but since I considered we were close like a brother we even ate from same plate last 2weeks, I thought I should have known atleast.
Note: I noticed so many people will come in here to call me names, even some accusing me to be someone with bad motives and sort I smile. Not everyone has a evil mindset like you or some persons you know, It's just that when you expect so much from people you hold very close to your heart you might get disappointed and it hurts badly.
Especially when you know you can't do that same thing to that person. I only brought it out here because I wanted to know maybe I'm overreacting because I feel a deep level of betrayal but hey I am happy for him and I will attend the house opening tomorrow.
File Photo for Illustration WIth "friends" like this, you need no enemy. Avoid the guy bro, I had someone like this too. Taking information and strategies from me, but keeping his "secret". Cut the guy off and stop giving him any information. Today, he is no better off. |

But here is the UK prime minister sacking someone just because he called for peace.
If na one African president dey kill people of other country, USA go condemn to The Hague but since it is Israel doing the killing, they look the other way and say they are fighting terrorists.
This world is the more you look, the less you see. If as an appointee, you do not agree with your bosses point of view, you should resign to allow him work with someone who shares his vision. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech |

There's no basis for tithe payment/first fruit in the new testament. It is borne out of the concern that if people are left to give from a freewill. They may give below 10%.
Moreso tithing came with explicit blessings and curses which makes it fanciful to many pastors to drive compliance.
I do not think the absence of tithing is why churches in the UK are declining, rather less enthusiasm for religion.
In Nigeria, to travel using the roads which most do, you have to pray for "safe trip", unemployment is also very high, so you have to pray for a job.
Hospital, you pray to come out of the casualty ward alive. These many things we prayed and kept faith for in Nigeria, builds a very strong sense of spirituality those born here do not have.
In the absence of new migrants and after a few generation, all things being equal, the african-dominated chuches will follow same trajectory as their oyinbo counterparts. |
