so how many candidates from ADC won the guber/ house of rep election undecided
Excellent question begging for answers and I am sure Utomi will not like to provide such answers.

Utomi lacks what it takes to win a presidential election.

Did someone state he is honest? Who determines how honest one is, by what standards?

Being young is not a disadvantage afterall Yar'dua and Jonathan are not old men.

Infact Orji Uzo Kalu has a better case as far as presidency is concerned because he delivered his state to his own party which means he has a base unlike Utomi.
PoliticsRe: SSS Invades AIT: Stops Political Broadcast! by Afam(m): 11:42am On Apr 19, 2007
Using the SSS to close down AIT the way it way reported is certainly not the best.

If AIT has gone against anything that may affect Nigeria through its broadcasts (and it is possible) then they could withdraw its licence until the issue is sorted out.

I will not defend the AIT because I do not know exactly what it broadcasted that is causing the problem and as I always say: You cannot understand a message until you understand the creator of the message as every message has a creator and usually with the intention to server a particular purpose be it economical, religious or political.

We Nigerians are in the habit of figuring out who can and who can't win elections even before the polls not because those who we think can win have given us a genuine reason to think that way. But because we think politics of Nigeria is not all about Nigerians but about who has more money and who wields more influnce. That is how small and narrow minded our politics is at the moment and that mentality has to change. We have to turn the page.

Democracy is all about running a people inclusive government, otherwise whats the difference with military. Thus an election in a democratic government should be about those who are able to appeal more to the people.

I know that it will not happen in one day, but at least we have to be moving in the right direction. 2007 Nigeria does not deserve a guber election where Akala will be leading convoy of youths wielding cutlasses and guns instead of seeking the people's vote, 2007 Nigeria does not deserve an election where Andy Uba and his cohorts will have result sheets in their house before the polls while a whole state goes out to vote. Someone, somewhere in Anambra who may have been unable to eat breakfast may have gone to the polls hoping that his vote will help decide his future. But all that becomes a excersize in futlity if a spin master is sitting somewhere with the result sheet waiting to announce his result while the people waiste their time.
I now see where you are coming from but do not forget that the type of democracy we practice is an expensive one, just like what obtains in the US today.

Our so called presidential system of government cannot allow people without money (real money to spare) to make any impact in any election.

You use money for adverts, campaigns etc.
PoliticsRe: It Appears The PDP Is Not Power Hungry Afterall by Afam(op): 3:49pm On Apr 17, 2007
There is a place in my village where I heard from very reliable sources that every year the state government awards a contract for that road and yet nothing is done.

In this case it is fraud being done by the state government, the corrupt villagers and the contractors.

At the FG level, do you now expect the FG to keep awarding the same contracts for the same jobs every year?

I ask this because we are our own worst enemy. It is more convenient to blame the FG than to hold the so call contractors and their collaborators responsible.

Chris Uba is making noise today but we should also realize that he was being awarded a never ending contract for the governor's lodge or guest house since the time the military was in power until he fell out of favour with Ngige.

We must take a holistic view of the whole problem. A lot of people are getting away with murder even in broad daylight because we are focusing our attention on the wrong people.

My personal opinion anyway. I respect other peoples views but I still have a right to stick to mine, enjoy.

PoliticsRe: It Appears The PDP Is Not Power Hungry Afterall by Afam(op): 3:11pm On Apr 17, 2007
We must stop playing the blame game.

On the former works minister, if indeed the ministry of works allowed only Igbo engineers to be responsible for road projects going on in the South East then it makes sense to hold them responsible for the state of the roads.

If contracts are awarded and companies and individuals choose to divert the funds into personal accounts instead of building the roads then we should hold the contractors responsible as the FG will certainly not continue to award contracts for the same roads every year.

That is where the Northerner are better, money meant for roads are used to build roads whereas in the South we squander the money and turn round to blame the FG.

Every single human being should be held responsible for his/her actions.

Ideally, you can get laptops based on intel centrino with up to 5 hrs running on batteries alone.

I really wonder why you reason like this! Look this is simple. Chris and Andy his brother are fighting over who will take over the states purse. Now, between Andy and Chris, who do you think OBJ will support? He prefers Andy and it is time to dump Chris.

Chris vowed that his brother will not win the election and that means Chris is against the PDP. We hope that this fight will continue so that both of them can pave way for us to move forward.

Afam wake up from your dreams and face Nigeria the way it is.

PoliticsRe: It Appears The PDP Is Not Power Hungry Afterall by Afam(op): 11:12am On Apr 16, 2007
@Mckren,

McKren:
@ Afam

For so many reasons I am a fan of OBJ and have no regrets about it, I am ready to state this anywhere no matter what happens in Nigeria today. But then some of his grass roots politics in states like Anambra and Oyo, are simply appauling, they nullify everything he stands for on the national scale and I have no doubts in my mind that 10years down the line when OBJ looks back in history the Ubas and Adedibu's will constitute his regrets.

There is simply no way you can absolve OBJ of the happenings in Anambra, yes people who have connections in high places use their position to influence things without the consent of the President but that of Anambra was too glaring.
If OBJ is not to be blaimed for his actions
in Anambra on the grounds that he may not have passed those orders, he must be blaimed for his inactions when we saw the height of illegality.

Rapheal Ige the then AIG of Umahia zone, who was to naturally retire 1 month latter from the police, was not chosen to lead the assualt on Ngige by accident. Yet after the crime he commited against the people of Anambra and the Nigerian State he was sacked from police with all his pensions and benefits intact. (whats the difference sacking a man who was to retire 1month later if he will have all his retirement entitlements).
Ngige as it were then who was the chief security officer of his state was abducted, there were speculations that he was even slapped by Chuma Nzeribe. Yet OBJ did not see the need for using his position to curtail the excesses of Chris Uba.

Ngige's security details and police attachement were all withdrawn during this Saga, you can not tell me Chris or Andy gave Tafa Balogun that order.
Chris Uba testified before the court of law to have rigged elections and he was not arrested or even prosecuted for electoral fraud. He was rather given the trophy of PDP board of trustees member.

I am a fan of OBJ because he stood up against some bossom friends, who think the future of this country should be compromised in the name of respecting some comraderie that exist between them but then in Anambra he has done the very opposite.

Why is OBJ standing up against IBB and yet will not encourage an Ngige for standing up against the Ubashuhhuhhuhhuhhuh??
That question I have never been able to answer, though I still love OBJ but Anambra and Oyo remains his biggest mistakes.
The statement in bold refers, no one can absolve OBJ but the actor should be held responsible for his actions. I am tired of people talking about OBJ and not even the Chris Uba that sponsored almost all the law makers (both at the state and national levels) and a governor for an election.

Put differently, the same people of Anambra will dine, wine, support and pray for him not hausas or yorubas. Why do we prefer to play the blame game all the time?

Having a political god father does not give anyone the right have his/her way all the time otherwise Obanikoro would have won the last gubernatorial election in Lagos state considering how important Lagos state is to the federal government.

noblezone:
@Afam,

We of the Anambra state hold Chris Uba responsible for the crimes he committed and is still commiting against us, but we will not ignore the man who is using the power of the Federal Rebublic of Nigeria to aid and abait this criminal. The fedreal govt led by OBJ is guilty of crimes against humanity.

As you have refused to attend to the issues raised here ( not by me only, but by the rest of Nigerians here), I conclude that you are either ignorant of the facts on ground or you are simply ingoring them for some reasons best known to you.

For now, we the people of Anambra state are not ready to go to war with the Fed. Govt of Nigeria, thus we pray and wait on God. Help will surely come from above. Did I hear that the quarrel between the Uba brothers, Andy and Chris has resulted in Chris being arrested?

Maybe the final showdown is here. It will be themselves against themselves. Take care.
Thank God you are now bold enough to hold him responsible for his actions, that has always been my point. Leaving out the main actor and always focusing on the backer is counter productive and remains one of the reasons why Anambra is in problem today.

Again, that this man will single handedly sponsor law makers at all levels and a governor in a state shows that he has supporters whether you like it or not.

chidichris:
Afam,
i want to assume that all of us here are either ignorant or unexposed to the politics of nigeria having you as the only wise man but my prayers is that if you are not feeling the heat of this evil administration yet, may God in his mercies supply u with it soonest.
1. I do not assume that everyone here is either ignorant or unexposed to the politics of Nigeria neither have I implied nor stated that I am wise not to talk about being the only wise one here. That line of thinking usually comes from people like you that feel inferior to others when discussing issues.

2. About your prayers, if you have been praying properly then all your wishes would have been granted by now. Maybe God knows that you are missing the point that is why your prayers are never answered. I do not benefit anything from the government but at the same time I will not keep blaming the government for everything, I will leave such to criminals like you that are not comfortable with the progress made in fighting corruption.

For your information God in His infinite Mercies do supply my needs because I serve Him faithfully, not lip service like a lot of you do, go to church in the morning and visit babalawo at night while expecting things to change.

If you know what is good fro you, just go straight to hell.

I'm desiruous of buying an Inverter that will carry the undelisted home appliances;
One 42'Plasma TV
One DSTV Decoder
One Frdige/Freezer
One 1HP Split Unit AC
One Standing Fan
Two Laptops
Six Energy saving bulbs

Kindly advise of a suitable spec of Inverter and Battery Bank for this load given that I want an 8hrs non stop use of this appliances. I also want to know the lenght of time it would take your company to assemble such a system for me and especially at what cost.
Is the A/C a must? Any battery bank that will provide 8 hrs for the A/C will be huge.

And I will not even recommend nor build you a single inverter for the whole setup.

2 inverters will suffice, one for the A/C (if you instead it must be in the equation) and the other for the other loads.

Let me know if I am making sense so that I don't spend my time doing calculations when the basis does not exist.

N32,000.00 for what type of inverter and what capacity? Manual or automatic?

On inverters from india, a client bought a 5kva unit from Mega plaza and contacted us to get her original batteries at N54,000.00 each (6 nos).

After taking a good look at the inverter and the setup I warned her that she would have problems with the inverter due to the way it was setup (single transformer, 72vdc & automatic switching type). I recommended we build her a dedicated charger, open up her unit and modify it, she said she would do so after 1 month but the unit packed up just after 4 days.

Since she was warned on time she understood what happened and asked for the dedicated charger to be built and for close to a month now she has never had any problems whatsoever.

Now, when I asked her to go back to Mega plaza for warranty claims I was told nobody would respond positively as they will always balem it on something.

My point is this, always try to get inverters from those that build them or those that have the powers to offer reasonable warranties otherwise you may buy a unit today and after 2 weeks it could pack up and you may be lost at sea because you may start spending money for repairs.

We offer 1 year full warranty, we build locally, we repair or replace at no charge whatsoever.

PDP is a strong party, infact it will be difficult for any politician to say no to PDP if he/she is sure of becoming the party's flag bearer in any elective position including Ojukwu of APGA, maybe this simple fact is too simple for you to understand.

I am not a politician and your cheap shots do not mean anything. You are hung on OBJ and that is why anything that happens must have an OBJ hand in it.

I will advice that you hold your son/brother Chris Uba responsibe for anything he does in Anambra and stop creating convenient excuses by blaming OBJ.

@debosky,

PDP is a political party out of many and I am one of those that believe they can do whatever they want to do as regards party politics, any politician that is unhappy should look for another political party, simple.

Why do politicians want to be part of PDP? Because it is a strong party. If you offer Atiku or Buhari the presidential candidacy of the PDP today they will gladly dump AC and ANPP respectively.

Bullying? Yes, but don't they have a right to conduct its business they way they want to?

What Nigerians can do is vote them in or vote them out. Party politics remain party politics, conform or get out of the party.

@noblezone,

noblezone:
I totally disagree that they are not power hungry, it rather shows that the PDP is not a political party for the people, but a machinary for a few heartless individuals who like Napoleon must be "always right" and thus manipulate and control the entire populace. In 2003, the PDP sacrificed Kano state just to make sure that Naaba was stopped. I am very suprised that the democratic and integelligent Afam will descend so low as to support anarchy. Where is the place of Imo State members of the PDP who voted for the Ararume of a guy? So please, I need eductaion here, who is the PDP? The few monsters in Abuja or the entire populace that make up the membership? The Imo state PDP chose Ararume as their candidate, but the few men in Abuja said no! And when I say that we are not allowed to choose our leaders, its as if I am making noise for nothing. This has nothing to do with the EFFC report of whatever nonsense. Nonsense? Yes, because the same EFFC also indicted Goodluck Jonathan whom the same PDP is celebrating. Beisdes, if the people choose Ararume, it is their own cup of tea. Has any court indicted Ararume? OBJ should allow the people to choose their leaders and anything apart from that is not democracy. This is internal colonistaion and it is a shame.

What fact are you talking about? Where did you get your fact from? I think it is rather your personal opinion which shows your sentiment for the PDP which you will always deny.

As for me, I don't hide my sentiment against the PDP and OBJ if not for anything, for the destruction they caused in my Anambra State. They are still bent on imposing AndY Uba on us through the INEC (which is like a youth wing of the PDP).

Imo people, its an opportunity to vote out the PDP. I wish it were Anambra.
I don't know if you noticed that you are the only one that reduced the thread to personal issues here.

I will respond to comments when you learn to focus on issues rather than personalities.

Anambra is burning because of people like you that refuse to call a spade a spade but would rather blame OBJ for everything that happens in Anambra.

Even on this thread some people from the same local government area with Ararume are happy that such a person is being stopped and you are hear offering the same type of advice that you offered on Anambra.

But common sense shoiws that when a party is willing to give up a state for what ever reasons it means that such a party does not want power at all cost and that the party is more than confident of its structures on ground.
