PoliticsRe: Sanusi And The Sacked Bankers by Afam(m): 9:41am On Dec 29, 2009
Sanusi is God sent and those bankers who are complaining should be grateful to him because some of the banks would have collapsed completely in less than 18 months if Sanusi had not intervened.

Imagine the shameless lies, expensive adverts and media attention and awards these banks were engaged in even when they knew they were cooking their books and in serious need for help.

As regards loans, borrowing money to buy shares is madness and the banks should hide their heads in shame to claim they could offer loans to people who want to buy shares but cannot offer loans to serious business people with ideas and plans to manufacture or produce things in the country.

edoyad:
You can see why Nigerian firms lose out to Europeans and Americans in contract bids. The OP wants to know the price range for inverters so he can make up his mind. Instead of giving what a rough estimate might be you're all writing literature reviews. That's why generator sets keep selling, i know how much it takes to get a very small one, medium or large one.
Are you sure the OP wanted to know just the price range for inverters or are you rephrasing the the poster's question?

See the original post just in case you missed it.

SapeleGuy:
Nigeria is a tribal construct, you can't wish away injustice and inequality without tackling the root of the problem.

Why do these people feel they don't belong to what Awolowo termed 'a geographic expression.'

I know it is fashionable to be 'detribalised' but how do you stay detribalised in the face of such injustice for example:

The President of this country is a northerner,
The Minister of Finance, a northerner,
The Minister of Works a northerner
The Minister of Petroleum a northerner,
The CBN Governor a northerner,
The head of PHCN a northerner,
The head of NNPC a northerner

The country is lopsided, pointing this out does not make one a tribalist.
Not long ago the list was like this

The President of this country is a southerner,
The Minister of Finance, a southerner,
The Minister of Works a southerner
The Minister of Petroleum a northerner,
The CBN Governor a southerner,
The head of PHCN a northerner,
The head of NNPC a northerner

Don't have any idea about those that headed NNPC and PHCN so cannot comment on them.

Out of the 7 listed above the southerners accounted for 4 so we should not blow issues out of proportion unless of course you complained in the last dispensation that southerners were too many.
Science/TechnologyRe: How To Set Up A Power Inverter. by Afam(m): 3:04pm On Dec 28, 2009
Inverters are based on different topologies and designs so the manufacturers, accredited dealers would be in the best position to advice on the installation proper if the inverter does not have any installation manual.

It is usually better to have the inverter installed by the builder, seller etc so as to avoid blaming you for any mistakes you might make in the installation process if done by yourself.

It is possible to use generator without petrol, kerosene and diesel.
For more information you can send an e-mail or call my mobile line (08033002334, samstechs@yahoo.com).
Hmmmm. What type of generator is that?

Blinkmama:
I have gotten to experience the generator issue when I went to Nigeria to marry my husband. Being from the US I have never had to experience this, but I always thought, with all the sun and heat in Nigeria, why not solar power? HMMMMM Is that possible there?
The only cost would be to set it up, but I feel it will be a money and grief saver later on, maybe that I will bring it there and make life easier for Nigerians in my husbands area? wink
Content in bold refers, not at all. There are other costs associated with a solar solution from solar panels to batteries and inverter.

The so-called Nigerians are funny people indeed. It must be re-called that the same people who are clamoring for censorship on this forum would be same folks that will throw vitriolic and caustic responses when issue of Biafra is tabled.

Talk of indelible dirty hypocrites on this forum; they paddle the same deceitful characters that had colossally failed Nigeria. Is it not hilarious that one poster wrote about unity among the people of Nigeria when factors that mitigate unity are institutionalized in the country?

The hypocrites will inject the most ridiculous and mortally flawed analogies in order to spite on the socio-politico-cultural sanctity of a particular ethnic group. It is a daily occurrence on this forum that some of these hypocrites and closet fascists will ride a wave of mundane insults by refereeing to the contrarians as being Intolerance, Ignorance, and Inability to admit mistakes.

We must admit that Nigeria had war of attrition and the scars left by the war are still reverberating on the peoples’ consciousness. Unfortunately, the controlling powers did absolutely nothing to alleviate the pains of the war. Rather the federal government of Nigeria and the same hypocritical bunch had encourage programs such as abandon property, boundary adjustment, federal character, quota system and ceding of crude oil producing areas from one ethnic group to another. In solving the issue of Nigerian divided house, no option, including disintegration of the Nigeria, should be left out of the discussion.

Censorship of any magnitude flies in the face of democracy.
The content in bold refers, I must admit that I do not understand completely your post especially with the refereeing and contrarians parts.

Could you rephrase your post/comment using simple english because I doubt if I need to look for a dictionary just to be able to understand a post on a public forum.

And, let me state this, I do not follow the crowd neither do I join bandwagons for the sake of doing so. Put differently, anyone that feels bad that I do not agree with or support a particular thing should understand that I don't allow others to think for me and as such I do my own thinking and take decisions based on what I think is best.

We all have the God given rights to think and decide on our actions in life and no one should be forced into believing anything.

His style may not appeal to all but the simple fact that he is bold enough to tackled the core problems shows that the man Sanusi should be supported by all well meaning Nigerians.

So, as long as you support the reform then there is no wahala whatsoever. The issue of style is subjective.

Please tell me how SANUSI is involved in the sack of UBA staff? Is he the owner of UBA? Leave SANUSI alone, the banks are only taking decisions that will make them more profitable.
And to add to that UBA was not listed as one of the troubled banks so it should be obvious that the banks are only doing all they can to return to profitability especially now that they are not allowed to cook their books with maggi or knorr cubes.
PoliticsRe: Open Letter To Seun And Politics Section Moderator(s) by Afam(m): 9:37am On Dec 28, 2009
You cannot talk about Nigeria without tribes because Nigeria has many different tribes and religions. However, this does not mean that everything should be seen from a tribal or religious prism.

The problems we have on this forum are

1. Intolerance
2. Ignorance
3. Inability to admit mistakes

Unfortunately, there is very little the forum owner or moderator can do because these problems are usually inherent in human beings.

We must respect ourselves, respect others even when we disagree with them.

Once we have mutual respect then we can discuss, debate or disagree with one another without any bad blood.

No religion should be insulted, no tribe or ethnic group should be insulted and more importantly we must learn to respect facts, common sense and logic.

Let it be known that those who easily resort to insults in debates are usually those who easily or quickly run out of ideas and in a way to cover up they resort to insults or turn violent so as to divert attention to other issues. People like these are usually petty, have small brains and are bullies in real life. What they cannot achieve with basic thinking they tend to make up with physical strength or insults.

Put differently, what we are seeing now is an improved version of the old website.

It seems some website owners don't realize that they can lose clients just by the way their websites look especially for first time visitors. If a business cannot handle a basic task of setting up a decent website how can I trust them with my money for any service or product they claim to offer?

You want all the loan department staffs of the banks affected to be sacked and the positions left taken up by the middle and low cadre? Wonderful!

The over bloated salaries of bankers were not in order and today order is being restored and in the long run the banking industry will be better, salaries will be realistic, banks will be more proactive in generating legitimate money instead of falsifying accounts and they will not need to turn our young women into professional love-peddlers to meet unreliable targets.

Water will find its level with time and the time has come for the banking industry to be sanitized.

Ever wondered why a genuine trader cannot access N50,000.00 loan due to the very difficult conditions whereas another person can access N2,000,000,000.00 without collateral just because he knows the bank CEO and the funds are usually wasted and the bank in turn claims the loan is a bad loan?

What Sanusi is doing today is ok and is actually saving a lot of jobs that would have just disappeared in a few years when the effects of the lies and falsification of accounts would have gone full circle.

Meanwhile, the disengaged workers I understand where not sacked but advised to resign and I believe they were adequately compensated. I doubt if any bank would just sack someone without a good reason. Sack and resignation (whether cajoled, induced or advised) are not the same thing. The disengaged bankers can use the money paid to them to start a new life.

Those of us that believe the web industry must make meaningful progress must be ready to match our words with actions.

It shouldn't take 3 days to setup a fully functional website for this project.

This has nothing to do with being a 'square peg in a round hole'. this woman is simply either incompetent or dumb. When a woman informs the Senate that after spending hundreds of millions of naira on the Rebranding project, her biggest achievements were
1. Wrangling an apology from SOny over the PS3 advert and
2. Banning the District 9 movie

You get to wonder why people are still making excuses for the woman who has long since joined the rogues gallery of clowns in the leadership.
Did she really make the 2 statements above? If yes, then she should be dismissed as resignation will be a "thank you for a job well done card".

Another impossible standard being set for Nigeria. So, everyone in Osun must vote for him for the election to be fair?

Now, can someone list or state a single country, state or local government in the world where everyone voted in any electoral process?

Meanwhile, the election may not be free but to ask sometimes silly and meaningless questions just to show that nothing works in Nigeria is beginning to get out of hand and ridiculous too.

Its a shame that you have chosen to adopt a caustic tone to what was a harmless question.

If I remember correctly, you said on the first page that you agree with Arthur Eze that Abacha was a good leader.

Therefore any and every question on Abacha's performance is permissible.

Abacha is known to most Nigerians as one the worst leaders Nigeria ever had. Full stop.
Typical hypocritical response. Read your post again and see why I responded the way I did.

It seems a lot of us are used to environments where we say or do all sorts of things without anyone complaining so when we experience it now it becomes a problem.

I am sure we have disagreed on so many things on this forum without any form of caustic response from me so it is your duty to figure out what changed.

I believe in response in kind as that is the best way to call people to order. Action and reaction are meant to be equal and opposite.

@topic,

I don't believe in blanket commendation or condemnation.

Every leader has (or had) his flaws and no one can deny such facts.

Unless of course we believe a leader is either excellent or worst and nothing in between. Why do we always set standards that don't exist anywhere in the world when it comes to Nigeria? Some of us who do this condone, tolerate or justify worse things by foreign leaders and turn around to set the highest standard once the name Nigeria comes to the table.
