PoliticsRe: Rotational Presidency: Fraud To Hold Unto Power By Northern Power Elite by Afam(m): 2:27pm On Jan 06, 2010
wirinet:
What facts are you talking about? Please present them. Where and when did this meeting take place. Please stop twisting facts, OBJ did not come to power because of any agreed rotation agreement, the North conceded power to the west because the Yoruba nation was very aggrieved by the injustice done to MKO and was preparing to fight if need be. That was why it was two Yoruba sons that contested the 1999 elections without any other candidate from the south. It was to placate the Yorubas. OBJ was made to promise that he would return power to its rightful owner after only one term, but OBJ was smart to go for a second term and almost went for a third.
As I said earlier if Rotational presidency was in place OBJ would have made it known to Odilli at the primaries and they north would have just presented its candidates. The rotation thingy was to blackmail the south into giving power back to the north.
I believe the facts you are looking for are in your response above. You believe the North conceded power to the South West because of Abiola (a point I made in my post) because the South West wanted to fight if need be? Do you have the location and venue of the meeting where this "fight if need be" issue was discussed and concession of power agreed upon took place?

@ Afam, i need help to do it on my own.
Thx
Ok. In reality this is like saying you want to learn how to fly an air plane. E-commerce website requires programming not just design where you play around with colors or graphics or download one template or the other.

Programming is an entirely different animal, takes time, practice, energy to learn and it is not common to see people teaching other programming for free hence the schools around or you learn on your own unless you get someone with enough time to put you through.

Unfortunately, that time is what I don't have.

Hope this made sense.
PoliticsRe: Rotational Presidency: Fraud To Hold Unto Power By Northern Power Elite by Afam(m): 2:06pm On Jan 06, 2010
Obviously, the original poster is not aware of the facts concerning rotational presidency otherwise he would not state it was being used by the North to hold on to power because in the real sense rotational presidency was introduced to prevent just that.

Though not democratic in nature it is a welcome development in our peculiar environment where there is mutual distrust and we have regions claiming that they are being marginalized.

Rotational presidency was introduced before OBJ came to power and it was the South that benefited first from it as the 2 major contenders where Yoruba candidates as a way to compensate for the unfair treatment of late MKO Abiola that won a free and fair election.

how can we support the US blacklisting Nigeria?

what nonsense!!
as toothless as our leaders are, ill still support severing ties with the US!

the asians are worthy and able substitutes!!!

i cant understand why an average Nigerian is quick to support whatever rubbish the west dish to us; must we behave like dunderheads even in the face of bad governance?

i support the ultimatum
Exactly! Unfortunately, we have shameless Nigerians with low self esteem suffering from inferiority complex that will support everything the US does even to their own parents, friends, brothers, sisters etc all in the name of blind love for the US as if their lives are dependent on satisfying or supporting the US.

Our own leaders have not been living up to expectation but on this issue they have done well whether they took the decision based on their selfish ways or not.

Nigeria should not and cannot be receiving dictations from No 10 Downing Street or the White House. I only wish we had a leader that will put the interest of Nigerians first.

@afam,
i always point to the fact that u are handicapped because u never in your whole life experience what leadership is all about. if you exist anywhere outside nigeria, u will begin to understand that govt depends on the response of the ppl in making their policies and decissions.
do u know that a wretched obj in 1999 cannot just become a billionaire in dollars just because he was president in anyother country of this orld.
do u know president zuma of south africa was made to appear in court to defend the use of us$500 equivelent and that is called accountability.
do u know that a gov in the usa was traced to argentina where he went to mess up with a girl friend? where is our president? it is obvious that most of the things ppl tell u abt governace sound like film tricks to u because u have never experienced them in your whole life.
look at the undemocratic iran, ppl protesting day in day out while nothing happens in a democratic nigeria.
like i said, mrally decayed idiots like obasanjo has no moral standard to speak on our behalf. he can't speak for his immediate family who see him as a vulture talkless of speaking for over 150 million nigerians.
whatsoever i am doing in dubai, i am doing because my country forced me to and be informed that i am a traveller and i change my location from time to time giving me the opportunity to see other ppl and their behaviours, to see leadership and fellowship, to see accountability and fairness.
i have seen corrupt ppl and nations but nigeria is simply a fraud.

if there is any topic where nigerians are expecting the ottah monster to talk, it has to be on the issue of the president's where about. he shld be able to tell nigerians where that slowpoke he imposed on us went to and not the terrorist issue where he is a part and parcel of.
I am not here to debate anything with you because you are always talking out of point and out of context.

I have not seen anyone that claims that we don't have serious problems in Nigeria and I have not seen anyone that is in support of the problems especially as it regards corruption and development.

Just to set the records straight, don't take this to mean I will ever waste my time to debate anything with you when all you do is insult, curse and insinuate nonsense anytime you disagree with anyone on anything.

If this is true then it is a welcome development and will help Nigeria in the area of stashing looted funds outside.

They should extend this to include the following

All governors whether current or past

All ministers whether current or past

All law makers whether current or past

All members of the executive council whether current or past

Areas covered should include medical treatment or check up, education and vacation.
PoliticsRe: Nstional Assembly Gives Usa 7-day Ultimatum On Terror List by Afam(m): 8:14am On Jan 06, 2010
All Nigeria needs to do is subject American citizens to the same security checks.

Brazil did the same thing and when Americans started complaining the US had to rescind/relax the measures earlier approved towards Brazilians.

Reciprocal foreign policy is key to mutual respect.

While condemning the action of Muttalab it must be stated very clearly that it is wrong to punish a country based on the actions of one man.

However, this is the typical hypocrisy of the US so I am not surprised.
PoliticsRe: Federal Republic Of South Nigeria by Afam(m): 8:10am On Jan 06, 2010
@SapeleGuy,

The good thing about written content is that it makes it easier to prove inconsistency from a person.

I am surprised that you missed the point I was making concerning your minority/majority complaints.

Your positions were

1. There should be nothing like minority or majority tribes (regardless of population)
2. Every single ethnic group must have equal representation in Nigeria

I responded thus

1. You cannot do without minority or majority ethnic groups as long as democracy is practiced and this is based on population
2. Having every single ethnic group represented would be very difficult because the total number may even be close to 3000 and offered scenarios to highlight the difficulties

Now, the issue turned to Southern Nigeria and you stated that you are ok with 3 - 4 regions. This was proof of your inconsistency hence my following questions and positions

1. Why are you comfortable with 3 - 4 regions when all the ethnic groups do not have equal representation?
2. Are you comfortable with the 3 - 4 regions because this arrangement will afford your own ethnic group a majority status?
3. Why not remain consistent in demanding for equal representation

So, your hypocrisy, inconsistency and double standard were exposed and it is very clear that you take positions on issues due to purely selfish reasons regardless of practicality.

Let me know if you need any clarifications whatsoever.

We need leaders that will put the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians first. With that in place Nigeria will react in the way it can as it is 100% to punish a country for the action of a 23 yr old who was obviously bred and educated outside Nigeria.

Unfortunately, we have shameless Nigerians that will not only justify the US actions but will support them even if such actions will subject them to inhuman treatment.

Chei! Wey Abacha? He would have drawn up his own list and include the US in the list and for good reasons too.

Only a well thought out reciprocal foreign policy will help a nation.

I remember Brazil introducing its own reciprocal security checks that lasted hours targeted at US citizens after 911 and the US citizens had to cry out before the US relaxed some of the measures.

Sometimes, you need to make people feel the pain they subject others to for them to realize their actions.

This is a way of life for them and I doubt if they can stop now.

Where are those Nigerians on this forum that basically sold their birth rights and would rather die defending the US than admit any wrong doing on the part of US?

Let us hope that they will be exempted by the stigmatization by telling them that in reality they defend the US all the time.

Let us hope this does not lead to killing of innocent people just as Iraqis witnessed based on lies.
PoliticsRe: Placing Nigeria On A Terror List A Foolish Move by Afam(m): 4:14pm On Jan 05, 2010
This means that Nigeria must be developed by Nigerians so that we don't have to worry about what foreigners will do to us in their lands.

There is no place like home, trust me on that. Any foreigner that suspects me of anything remotely related to terrorism in Nigeria here will receive a good combination of hot slaps and upper cuts for a start.

Only Nigerians can move Nigeria forward and God Has blessed us with abundant human and natural resources.

PoliticsRe: Federal Republic Of South Nigeria by Afam(m): 1:59pm On Jan 05, 2010
SapeleGuy:
Your post appears to be very confused. I shall offer you some clarity. First of all don't confuse ethnic group/nationality with language and dialect or even state creation, you have close to 7 languages and even more dialects in the Edo ethnic group (Ishan, Orah, Afemai etc) but it is still 1 group. Just as Igbo have many dialects but it is still 1 ethnic group. The modalities can be easily worked out.

Your dogged objections to inclusion imply you do not respect the ethos of consensus, consultation and more importantly are of the erroneous belief that some ethnic groups are more important than others.

I maintain that every ethnic group must take part in a sovereign national conference as an equal partner. I believe in justice and equality for all, If that is your definition of selfishness, fine.
You see how you have been contradicting yourself up and down?

Why not allow the over 250 ethnic nationalities to decide if they want to be part of any group you ascribe to them? Why deny them that right to choose?

The issue of an ethnic group being more important than others is your own issue because it seems that is what you have been implying whereas on the other hand I am clamoring for complete inclusion and participation regardless of the number but it seems this will not help what you prefer.

I must confess that I would prefer 3-4 nations to come out of southern Nigeria, however in politics pragmatism is needed, so take it easy with the 'over your dead body' rhetoric. 'Dis nah naija, dem go march that body pass'
Why stop at 3-4 nations when we have about 250 ethnic nationalities?

Don't you think that those ethnic nationalities that will be in the minority will not complain? Why not accommodate all the ethnic nationalities even if it means having 150 nations?

Now, the questions above happen to be in line with all your comments about minority/majority in Nigeria and I am shocked that you have suddenly abandoned that line of thought just because you feel that with a 3-4 nation scenario you will conveniently become a majority ethnic nationality and lord over those in the minority.

Let us be consistent in our positions and stop taking sides just to suit our selfish ends.
PoliticsRe: . . .just Suck It Up! by Afam(m): 8:54am On Jan 05, 2010
Exactly! Who sets the rules? Who decides the standards to be used?

US, Israel, UK and Australia practice state/nation terrorism by killing or maiming innocent people using different means from starvation to bombs and guns.

These nations believe that might is right and would do anything to silence opposition, use media propaganda, wage illegal wars, manufacture lies while giving out aid to some other nations so as to be seen as compassionate nations.

Groups such as Hezbollah, MEND, Hamas, Alqaeda etc practice group terrorism by killing or maiming innocent people using different means from kidnapping to suicide attacks and explosives.

These groups have sympathy from those they are defending and in most cases they have good reasons to fight back. My only problem with them is that innocent lives are lost. If they could tackle and target the real culprits in power then I have 100% support for them. In my opinion, no innocent person deserves to die for any reason whatsoever.

Let us remember that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter and we should begin to address the WHY and not the WHAT because the WHY may be the key to understanding the problem and apportioning blames properly.

Back to Muttalab, is Muttalab not a product of the international community considering his education? For a 23 yr old to have gone to school in a British school in Togo, Britain, Egypt, Dubai and Yemen it goes to show that he hardly spent time in Nigeria therefore attempting a suicide attack is not Made-In-Nigeria as simple as that.

I am part of the solution not the problem. And that is why I suggested the idea of an offline conference so that mistakes could be made when the impact would not be much.

I am a practical person to the core.

I don't think it will be right for someone else to design the website since you have taken up the task.

However, this should be seen as a real project with a real client so we must pay attention to details.

Right now, we have a situation whereby the design is ready but the web hosting is not and so the website is not up and running. I hope we know that this is another area that creates confusion and leads to project failures.

Sometimes you get to see up to 4 different entities responsible for a simple website from domain name to web design and web hosting. Maybe this will be another topic to discuss on the conference proper whether offline and online.
