There are things that happen in Nigeria that amaze me. I can understand a stark illiterate in some obscure village or igboro engaging in this kind of act. How can an undergraduate student of an elite university like UNIPORT do something like this. What he remote controlled or what? |
Tolexander:If JAMB don jam uou, you no go dey ask this kain question. Most Nigerins thatg attend Houdegbe North American University do so becuse they weren't able to get admission into our crappy universities. |
londoner:The problem i have with some of you is that you argue issues with emotions rather than reason. Never for once have i said that Kalu or IPOB did not make hate speeches. Yes, they did and i called them out for it. But do IPOB and IGBO mean the same thing? Does IPOB calling for secession mean that Igbos are calling for secession? Should we go about killing people of northern origin because some of their people have mained and massacred our people in the past? What is even wrong with some of you. I can understand someone from the north reasoning the way you do, but an Igbo person? Is it a form of STOCKHOLM syndrome that you can support a hate speech from northern youths to all Igbos in the north because an Igbo group did the same. |
It's a great career path but Definitely, not in Nigeria. |
londoner:We have to put things into perspective and i agree with francis Odega to a large extent. The fact that someone can tell a tribe to leave a particular region in their own country just goes to show that we're deceiving ourselves that we're some sort of nation. What has a group called IPOB headed by Nnamdi Kanu and their course affect any other person. Mind you the northern youths that issued the october 1st declaration said they did so because of the success of the IPOB sit-at-home and you begin to wonder what the connection with choosing to honour my dead and their hate speech. |
ebusfav:What a joke. |
owobokiri:Like i keep saying, i really have no problem with the agitations but some of the methods are what i don't entirely agree with. I understand that no movement is perfect but there has to be some semblance of sanity in a group. I dare say that there's something about we Igbos that makes it hard for us to galvanise the different schools of thought into a single movement. We're too forceful and anybody that does not agree with us is termed an Afonja. Just read the last two people that quoted me. Despite the fact that i've been on this forum for almost two decades, someone still has the effrontery to call me Afonja. If that's not stupidity, what is it? This is a the modus operando of a lot of pro Biafran people that makes it very difficult for more objective minds to support their cause. The day the likes of Soludo, Anyaoku, Utomi, Obi etc join the Biafran movement, i won't have any reason to go against it. Despite Nnamdi kanu's incessant ego tripping, i keep defending him because i feel the cause is not entirely bad but some of you are just not helping matters. |
What exactly did they do? Pls be lucid. |

Only a few days ago, IPOB headed by Nnamdi Kanu launched what it termed "Biafran Secret Service (BSS)". I know know if the group is modelled after the FBI or CIA in america or is supposed to be a military wng of IPOB, whatever the case may be, i think it's a clownish idea devoid of common sense and this may just reinforce that view that Nnamdi Kanu is a joker. These are the kind of things you use to fool stark illiterates. When you attempt to do so with literate people even those who are members of IPOB, they begin to ask questions. I for one have never been IPOB or necessarily pro Biafra but i have been sorta sympathetic to their cause in addressing injustices of the Igbo nation. But i totally condemn this circus show. However, despite the stupidy of the idea that is BSS, i think what is more silly is the comment of anti IPOB or anti Biafran voices whjose voices have been i the lines of "Ohh, this is how bokoharam started". The comment made by Nigerian comedian, Seyi encapsulates this school of thought and it just goes to show the level of illiteracy that pervades our society. It's even worse than a comedian who should be making people laugh can for a moment go on an angry ego trip to discuss issues that they're ignorant about. For one, Kalu has still not broken any law in setting up what he terms a secret service. Until this people start wielding guns and terrorising people, only then can they be said to have broken a law. What if they're the IPOB wing of the Oduduwa peope's Congress (OPC) which is a local policing outfit? Or is it because they wear uniforms? Untimately, i think people should learn to stick with issues that they fully understand instead of disgracing themselves and their families in a bid to make sense. Like i said, i think BSS is a joke and we should all laugh about it but should not warrant some people comparing it with groups such as Alqaueda and Boko haram. God Bless Nigeria |
londoner:Its funny that you think that Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB is the beginning. Maybe you can tell that to the families of Igbos that have been maimed and killed for decades for the sake of Nigeria. |
Tolexander:Actually, there are northerners connected to the who is who is Nigeria whoo are living large abroad but they're not even up to one quarter of Igbos and Yorubas abroad. |
victorioushands:Based on your suggestion, it's a safe to say that you've not been on Nairaland for long because if you had, you would know that almost everything under the sun have been tried including what you suggested. Tribal comments get more likes. That's true but what is their reputation in other areas. Getting enough likes is just one of the many variables to be used. Mind you, the number of SHARES will also be used as well and if you look carefully most tribal comments may have a lot of likes from fellow tribalists but they don't have the shares. It's mostly educated comments that have a lot of shares. bakila: igbodefender: |
gameboyo:Like i said earlier, it's not just one variable that will be used. Tribalistic comments may be a traction for likes from other tribalists but people who make them will likely have less reputation which means they won't make the cut anyways. It's not just about scoring high in only one variable. |
Tolexander:I remember that i defended my tribe all those years but never for once did i denigrate any group while doing so. It's hard to do but i did it. |
timsTNA:You don't get it...that someone joined Nairaland 10 years ago does not automatically give the person preference. There are other variables such as how many likes and quotes a person gets from a comment or how elaborate the person's comment is. All the variables will be added together. |
Tolexander:Lol...you know, you're not the only person that has said this but whenever i challenge them to show me a prove of my tribalism, they becomes quiet. Just watch how someone brings a comment i made about Yoruba leaders going to meet jonathan complaining marginalization. That's only what they have on me and they call that tribalism. |
timsTNA:There's no such thing as equality in life. People are judged based on what they contribute to society and other social media sites like facebook, twitter and youtube are already using this system that puts more meaningful comments at the top. |
Seun, i know you won't listen sha but i think i have to say it anyways. Since the inception of Nairaland, tribalism has rained supreme and it became a fad from around 2008 till now and a lot of attempt have been made to actually exterminate the tribalist but all have proven abortive. We now know that banning them is just a waste of the time of moderators because these people have a lot time on their hands and will open a new account before you even say JACK ROBINSON. All hope is not lost really because i have a practical solution that will help in reducing the visibility of tribalists on Nairaland. This does not mean that tribalistic comments will not be made but the fact that they will be suppressed by more meaningful comments. I actually suggested this some years ago though i'm not sure if it was because of the tribalism. So, here it is. You need to introduce a REPUTATION SYSTEM whereby every nairalander is given a score depending on how much they have contributed to the forum. You can use variables such as REGISTRATION DATE, LIKES, COMMENTS and any other variables that you think is good enough. For instance, someone whose has been on nairaland for a longer time together with the addition of other variables will be given more priority at the top of a thread when they make comments. Which means that more meaningful comments will make it to the top of the pack leaving tribalistic comments to waste away at the end of the pecking order. Another feature that will actually aid this ystem is the VERIFICATION system whereby people will have the choice to verify their accounts thereby making them real people as opposed to anonymous and these people will also be given priority. |
AnanseK:Tropical environment with lots of pollutants? You must be kidding yourself. |
seunny4lif:You're right. It's the best place to leave and go to another city. @topic I really don't know what metric they used to rank these cities/ As much as i think lagos is one of the least liveable cities in the world, i don't think it deserves that position because you can't tell me that lagos of today is not a bit better than lagos of yesterday yet Lagos of yesterday was ranked higher than lagos of today. These people should get their facts right. |
How about buying it first before exposing your secret. It's safe to say that he's just trolling and doesn't intend to by Arsenal. He should look at buying Kano Pillars where he can do as he wishes. |
Why do they all look bleached out and irritating. That's how my crush that year "Sikiratu Sindodo" bleached out her destiny away and was unrecognizable. |
The boy wan hustle. He needs someone to show him the ropes. |
What exactly does the competition entail? Is it like a quiz or physical competition? |
Evil people can live long while the good ones don't last as much. Who says evil doesn't pay. |
ShyCypher:There's a website called Nigerianbestforum that used to compete with nairaland around the time nairaland came out. The owner whose name is prince opened a porn site after which he went into oblivion. So, p0rn is not the solution. |
Okoroawusa:Lauretta Onochie is from Aniocha in Delta state but she says she's not Igbo. |
I thiink KingBlachoc is torn between making money through hs p0rn site and actually enjoying himself. How can you explain the fact that he is the actor in all his films. I don't understand how he cannot employ jobless male Nigerians to act in his movies. Btw, i think hypocrisy is a Nigerian. Nigerians are probably some of the most morally bankrupt and corrupt beings in the world and if you were to watch a live reality of what Nigerians do, you will give your life to satan. But these are the same people that will come out to criticize other people. |
ABIODUNOLAOPA1:Except that Nnamdi Kanu is a tribal leader and not the president of a multi ethnic country. Btw, i'm waiting to see what Asari Dokubo will have to say about this. |
PrecisionFx:It wasn't a dive. There was contact though not enough to award a penalty. |
It's hard to tell what is true these days. |
