Romance › Re: Wedding!! The Ladies Are Holding The Guys Back by Afam4eva(m): 11:17am On May 01, 2017 |
shogat: I believe all guys desire to marry and also quickly but things drawing most back are numerous. Sometimes when you look at the economic situation in Nigeria, you begin to enjoy your singleness.
The ladies also are not helping the situation. When you estimate the cost and stress of an average Nigerian dream wedding ceremony then you see it is not something a guy can just jump and that is majorly the reason why he is holding back the ring and not going to see your parents.
The expensive wedding photo shoots- a photographer told me the cost starts from 200k. Then you talk about the dowry, some tribe's price can build a 3-bedroom flat. Wedding dresses, bridal showers, cakes, events centres, food and drinks....the expenses goes on sister. So with all these you see we have our reasons for holding back, we are working harder trying to meet up.
To make things faster, you too should buckle your sandals and work harder and also help reduce the cost- try to consider the guys biko
Shogat It would have even made sense if the ladies were interested in the maariage but a lot of them are more interested in the wedding. |

The man from Imo state gave Ken Nnamani a very good dose of what he truly deserves. This is a man that Igbo interest hasn't meant anything to. All he cares about is his personal aggrandizement. This is someone that was asked before the 2007 election if he supports Igbo president and he said that he belongs to PDP and not IGBO party. He's stupid like that. |

dominique: Very uprofessional interviewer, I was cringing on Joshua's behalf. He shouldn't have asked him to choose between Nigeria and England Lol The presenter is Oma Akatugba and as much as i think he's a very good sportscaster, i think that sentiment always comes in with a lot of Nigerians. Afterall he's not working for a foreign media outfit. So, he will ask questions that has to do with the guy's links to Nigeria. Though that was cringe worthy. Chai. |

That said, isn't it amazing how the same emotional kids who insult the crap out of SR saying NONE of their stories is ever true suddenly find NOTHING WRONG with this one and raise not a finger to question it's veracity.
PDP supporters are just a funny bunch honestly. Aren't you also guilty of what you accuse PDP supporters of? You support SR when it soothes tou and call for their head when it doesn't. It's not a PDP thing. |

Tinubu is a Christian most of the time. It is only when it is convenient for him that he is a Muslim. It is when it is convenient that he becomes Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“He is what we call ‘Christ-Mus.’ He is a ceremonial religious person. But they (APC) would never have made it (with him and Buhari for the 2015 presidential poll). That will not push Nigeria forward.” LMAO This guy is savage. |

ClassicQueen: As a woman what do you do if almost all the women and wives in a family you married have beef for you simply because you are prettier, more educated, lucky, intelligent, younger and dress better? This is my dilemma
Even some of his brothers are not left out I am afraid they are beginning to have grudges and gossip about me what will happen when I start bringing in kids? Please experienced couples and women I really need your advice on how to deal with this. Thanks Madam, there's absolutely nothing you can do because this problem will linger as long as you're prettier than them since you think that could be the problem. The only way out would have been to use razor blade to cut your face and make it look uglier, that way they will love you die because they'll know you're beneath them but i doubt you would consider that option. Asit stands now, you have 3 options: 1. You either keep respecting them while they keep beefing you and eventually go physical at some point. 2. Or you show them that you won't take their disrespect lying low. ive dem double dose of whatever they give. But don't forget that this will make the situation worse but if you're equall to the task and can stand the test of time (till death do you path), then why not. 3. If you think this is a big issue and could get worse, the divorce route is your best bet. Btw, what has your husband got to say about all this shebang? |
Culture › Re: White Woman Speaks Urhobo Language Fluently by Afam4eva(m): 5:03pm On Apr 30, 2017 |
EnaibeSam: It is so annoying that you are in your home town and you can not speak you dialect. There is no Ibo either at home or away that cannot speak their dialect, same thing to the Hausa's. But for this my Urhobo, those at home speak pidgin and those in Diaspora speak foreign languages, especially those in Yoruba land. Many of them will even give their children Yoruba names without giving a single Urhobo name. You guys always think every other tribe is perfect. Your Igbo example is skewed though our case is not as bad as the Urhobo situation. The only Igbos we complain about not speaking Igbo are those who live outside Igboland. It would be a taboo for an Igbo person living in Igboland not to know how to speak the language. Even those outside Igboland understand the language. |
Culture › Re: White Woman Speaks Urhobo Language Fluently by Afam4eva(m): 4:08pm On Apr 30, 2017 |
fratermathy: I don tire for our matters. The reality is very sad.
The only solution is to engage in a mass campaign so that Urhobos can learn to appreciate the language better. We can use the Internet to draw attention and create a new Urhobo nationalism. That is why I like using nairaland to post some issues so that if the posts make Frontpage, they can reach out to many Urhobos. A post like this will go a long way if Lalasticlala or Seun puts it on Frontpage.
Apart from creating the consciousness, other Urhobos are creating movies, music, cartoons, oratory, etc, in Urhobo language to make learning the language easy. So the tools to learn are already there, they just need to be used by those who have taken interest in the language.
Again, we need to sensitise those in Urhobo towns and villages on the need to J'Urhobo! If prominent and very wealthy people are involved, an Urhobocentric ideology can be launched using media houses and billboards.
Urhobo should also be taken more seriously at the secondary school level. It should be a core subject for every Urhobo.
These, and many more, will, with time, correct some of the problems we have. I just hope that we all do our bits in actualising this. You have a very good suggestion but i'm sorry to tell you that there's no group that has this problem that has ever recovered from it and the case of Urhobo is a peculiar one. Pidgin English is becoming the new mother tongue in that area. Even in Scotland, Ireland and Wales where they have the same problem and with the resources at their disposal, they've not made any progress. I even know some Igbo guys that went to learn Welsh to be able to teach it to the welsh themselves and as much as they're cashing to the bank, no difference is noticed. Here in Nigeria, the Iban people of Bonny/Opobo have tried it, e no work. |

Going to the same church doesn't mean jack sh1t. Most divorces of today are of couples who attend the same church or mosque, so spare me that BS. |
