I'll like to see this woman become America's president. I was cut between her and Obama in 2008 but i had to settle for Obama because his presidency represents a lot. Now, we have an African-American president. I'll want to see her become America's first female president. Then after her, it's the turn of Igbos . If we can't rule Nigeria, then we have to look else where. probably gabon
I have mad love for the creator of this thread. I can already see people downplaying the truth in the OP's assertion. Forget about UNESCO 50 years projection and let's tell ourselves the truth. We can't deny that the relevance of Igbo language keep waning daily. How you know that a language is relevant is if the educated folks speak the language whenever they meet. Rarely do i see two educated Igbo folks speaking Igbo to each other. It's not just about knowing how to speak but actually speaking it. If you're not speaking Igbo now, it means your children may not even know which tribe they're from talk more of speaking the language. Whenever i bring uo this issue of people not speaking Igbo, some Igbos see me as a tribalist. What is tribalistic about speaking you own language. I don't what sort of humans emanated from the east. That's why i don't move with Igbos anymore. I'm currently in Mauritius where Hausa language is the defacto language of hausa people here. they speak it in the morning, afternoon and night. If you're Hausa and you can't speak the language you will be killed by firing squad. If you can speak but don't speak, your toe will be cut off. That's how important it is to them. But for Igbos, it's when you can't spak your language that you're hailed as educated. Speaking cut and join English with their tick Igbotic accent feeling funky. Tufiakwa unu.
I watched the interview that reporter also had with Buhari and APC supporters in that same venue and there's something incisive to note here. Unlike the AP supporter, the PDP/Jonathan supporters were definitely rented as they did not seem sure of what they were asked to do and the protest wasn't coming from the heart. Imagine that guy that was interviewed saying that he had he based his judgment on Buhari on what he hears from people. How can a grown azz man make such a statement.
But i think that reporter of whoever she is who despite wanting to appear neutral was in support of the APC supporters. If she wants to be fair, let her be without deceiving herself.
My mum is old and fragile I don't think telling her is a good idea...
Unfortunately, this may be the only way that that you can heal the wounds. You can use your mother as a point of contact. if she forgives you then i can assure you that you will feel better. Th issue here is not whether your father has forgiven you or nor. Definitely, he knew you were young and has juvenile delinquent tendencies and your words couldn't have been taken seriously. Just talk to your mum and you shall be free.
Meringe: Condom might be used for so many reasons. So you don't just conclude.
Moreover, he's a man. Though I don't support cheating but sincerely I think a man is polygamous in nature, but what matter is that the man in question respects you as a woman.
For your own good, stop sniffing around. If you leave him, how sure are you that your next man wouldn't be worst.
You can confront him in a matured way but have it at the back of your mind that many men cheat even though their wife might be more beautiful than their cheating partner.
Though it takes courage for a man to remain faithful.
One of the very many senseless Nigerians out there who are always quick to offer their un-enlightened opinions. Tufiakwa gi.
babyosisi: I wrote it years ago, I sincerely believe in my heart that every man is capable of rape, molestation and pedophilia when the right opportunity presents.those who don't just have better self control. That is my long held conclusion. If it were not so,then tell me why fathers, uncles and cousins would want to have and do have carnal knowledge of their own flesh and blood. Tell me why a group of regular boys from decent homes will catch a girl and have rape her turn by turn for sport. Tell me why many men will find a little immature girl sexually attractive including their own growing daughter.
menix: Wonderful!!!! Is he sex starved to ve had a hard on.. Pls post wat u were puttin on cous am sure u were addressed d way u were dressed.
Y tell ur husband? Its now left to u to avoid him lik plague. 'Tomorrow is pregnant', don't spoil dat relationship btw them cous of somthing u can deal wiv...
I'm sorry to say but you're not a wise fellow. Somebody said she was touched and the first thing that you could muddle up is what she was probably wearing. You take your shallow thinking a step further by telling her not to inform her husband without realizing that that man and her husband will remain friends for a long time and they will definitely cross path and something like that can repeat itself in the future.
@OP This is a no brainer. Tell your husband or call the marriage off. Everyone mustn't get married.
That's why i laugh whenever i see a die hard supporter of a party. Just take a look at Fani Kayode. This is someone who insulted and degraded the seat of the president but today he has become a mouthpiece of the president and thereby insulting people that oppose him even Obasanjo that he once worshiped. That's why Nigerians cannot be trusted as they can be bought over by will. That's why it's necessarily and i have decided to remain a neutral observer. That's not to say that i don't have a preferred candidate. But i'm not stupid enough to act like the person is the best thing to happen to the world. I have supported Jonathan, i voted for Buhari in 2011. I'm not a fan of APC, but i wan to see if Buhari can change Nigeria.
rabimlomo: SO sad. when the killer is a muslim then he is a terrorist, but when the killed is a muslim, then the killer has other motives. Such hypocrisy.
armyofone: Make sure you don't travel in the dark or at night As I was reading 'traveling lonely road' I recalled a scene . Watched too many horror movies.
The movie wrong turn actually cme to mind when i saw that one lane road to rural America.
django1: Yes the constitution allows it but will the people allow it? I dare say that no Igbo man of Abia extraction can become even a councillor in any part of anambra state.
How are the people supposed to allow it. They will definitely decide at the polls.
eighTHREAD: you are truly dull. The constitution doesn't require such but. It is not possible in a nation like nigeria. As for stakeholders, what do you mean by that? Just cos you bought a land which will expire in 100yrs time doesn't make you a stakeholder. The stakeholders are the kings, baales, chiefs and indigenes which are the yorubas, the rest are strangers. It seems you believe in the stupidity of lagos is a no man's land. I thought you once open a thread asking all ibos to move their investments to alaigbo, before you were bashed that you are busy saying that while still living in lagos.
This will be my last reply to you cos it seems you don't have the healthiness of thoughts to debate issues with civility. I never said Lagos was a no man's land. You took that right out of your exterior. You also and obviously at that don't know what the term stakeholders mean. I don't know whether to pity you and school you on these things or allow you wallow in your own ignorance.
eighTHREAD: now I know why you haven't been commenting on NL. I thinks it's cos you spew trash. What is the language of the people of anambra, imo, enugu, ebonyi and abia? Is not ibo? Just cos they use english due to civilization doesn't mean they are no more ibos and anyone who can't speak ibo but english can just come and rule over them. Go to LGA is lagos and check the language spoken there. Would obama have been able to rule america if it was kenyan he was speaking during his campaigns? Ambode's current campaign has him speaking a lot of yoruba. Nigeria is not a migrant country.
It seems you are not aware that Igala is also a language in igala so it would be an insult to assume Anambra an Igbo state. Saying Anambra is majorly an Igbo state is more succint and even more that it is inhabited by mostly Igbos.
Yet again, you keep comparing apples and oranges. America is a country while Lagos is a state in Nigeria. English is an official language in America while Yoruba is not in Nigeria.
tbaba1234: Some traditional rulers might not have formal education... Would the governor be using interpreters? I think that is unacceptable.
Now we're getting to the issues. Correct me if i'm wrong isn't there a commission for culture and tradition in Lagos just like it is in other states. A governor is not meant to know everything and that's why he has commissioners and advisers who are familiar with particular sectors. As a matter of fact, it's the local governments that are supposed to be the carriers of tradition.
eighTHREAD: english is the lingua franca but a borrowed language. Yoruba is the Language of the natives of lagos state thesame way igbo is to anambrans.
The constitution does not mandate a political aspirant to be able to speak the language of the natives does it? And btw a lagos governor is not only ruling the people you call natives (whatever that means). He's ruling lagos stakeholders who are Nigerians from all over.
Missy89: But i was asking for an example from any state or city. I asked you to give me an example of a mayor or governor not president.
You claimed since Lagos was cosmopolitan the language doesn't matter and i asked you for an example of any cosmopolitan city or state with a mayor or governor that cant speak the local lingua franca. Or are you trying to say Yoruba is not the major language in Lagos?
The question cannot be answered if you don't understand what exactly you are asking. Understand your question first then i'll answer you. You seem to be conflicting between an official language and the major local language.
tbaba1234: Nigeria is not America. Not yet. People are deeply engrained in cultures. The dominant culture is Yoruba, if Lagos was a country, yoruba can easily be its lingua franca. All settlers would have to learn that language.
I am not against an igbo man or any tribe running for governor of Lagos but I believe that person must understand the local culture first.
IF is a conditional statement. If Lagos was a country, it would have been a different kettle of sish but Lagos is part and parcel of Nigeria where English is the official language. And no Nigerian is a settler in Lagos. Have that in mind.
Missy89: Can you mention one cosmopolitan city in the world where the mayor or governor is not originally from the place but grew up there, cant speak the local language and was elected. Just ONE example
First do me the honour by explaining what you mean by the "The local language".
