I am a fan of Cleverley but i felt over the last few months he had become more and more like Carrick in his passing and general game play and as a result our forward play suffered. I am not saying possession football is not good but having 2 extra cautious midfielders was a bit detrimental to the way United has traditionally played.Playing alongside Carrick means Cleverley has to be the one to venture forward and take the occasional risk with his passing
I stated earlier in an earlier post that the acquisition of new quality midfielders to compete for positions might be the challenge Cleverley needs to raise his game and i still hold on to that hope

chamotex: Exactly, which further buttresses my point that they are not good enough.
Why do we have a squad..
If these players cannot come in and do a decent job against a team like West brom then why do we have them at a club like Manchester United

So if Rafael doesn't play or gets injured we should forget about winning?
Or if Evra is out of the team we should forfeit the match?

I am pissed off
o boy see vex! na 3 times u post ur reply o cheesy
but seriously i feel ur pain. i have a fellow United fan who is a friend the guy has been posting his disappointments on facebook all weekend.
for me i have decided to take things easy cos i check all permutations i no know wetin we go do

A) sack moyes..........which manager is available that will take the job and we are sure wont fail the way moyes seems to be.

B) keep moyes and overhaul the team..........which world class players will be willing to come to our club and play under moyes.as we saw in the summer money doesnt always buy love.

C) sack and moyes AND overhaul the team...........instability could set in

D) moyes stays and somehow turns things around with these players

E) keep moyes and slide into mediocrity a la liverpool under Graeme Souness.

in the 2006/2007 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams

in the 2007/2008 EPL season berbatov scored 3 goals against top 4 teams

in the 2008/2009 EPL season berbatov scored 1 goal against top 4 teams

in the 2009/2010 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams

in the 2010/2011 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams

in the 2011/2012 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams

in the 2012/2013 EPL season berbatov scored 2 goals against top 4 teams

A GRAND TOTAL OF SIX EPL GOALS AGAINST TOP 4 TEAMS IN 7 SEASONS

NOW if that is not a flat track bully please what is?

P.S the point would be further driven home when you research his goals against relegated teams in the same period wink
e.g he scored as many goals ( SIX) against relegated teams in the 2010/2011 season ALONE as he had scored against top 4 teams in 7 seasons

A bit of fact checking would be appreciated instead of coming here and making blanket statements that are untrue cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m):
coogar: since 06/07, berbatov has scored 4 goals against everton & arsenal. 5 against chelsea, 3 against spurs & 5 against liverpool. fat track bully indeed.

in germany, his record was equally outstanding. 4 against dortmund, 3 goals against bayern munich, 4 against werder bremen. a bit of fact checking should be embraced instead of making blanket statements that are untrue.
everton? now thats a top team.after all we pinched their manager. And we know from the earlier posts that at least 3 of those liverpool goals came when liverpool came 6th in the 2010/2011 season.so are u saying he has scored grand total of 8 goals against a top 4 team in the last 7 years?
an average of just over 1 goal a year?
NOW if that isnt a flat track bully then what is?
P.S in the same period Wayne Rooney has 18 league goals against top 4 sides in the EPL alone.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m):
in the season he was top scorer for United Berbatov scored in the following matches

1 goal against Newcastle match ended 3-0
1 goal against West Ham match ended 3-0
1 goal against Everton match ended 3-3
Hat trick against Liverpool match ended 3-2
5 goals against Blackburn match ended 7-1
1 goal against Sunderland and match ended 2-0
1 goal against Birmingham and match ended 1-1
Hat trick against Birmingham match ended 5-0
2 goals against Blackpool match ended 3-2
1 goal against Bolton and the match ended 1-0
1 goal against Fulham and match ended 2-0

His goals came in 11 matches and included a hat trick against Liverpool , hat trick against relegated Birmingham, 2 goals against relegated Blackpool 1 goal against relegated West Ham and 5 against Birmingham.

7 of his 20 goals came against relegated teams and 5 against 15th placed Birmingham

Notice the lack of any goals against a top 5 team.

Berbatov is the epitome of the flat track bully
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 12:16am On Sep 30, 2013
berbatov is just a very skilful flat track bully. He bangs in goals mainly against mediocre teams but when its crunch time against the big boys he folds like a cheap suit
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 5:36pm On Sep 29, 2013
SailorXY: I'll like to see Carrick get bench time @ least 3 games cuz he's getting more comfortable about his place & his sloppiness + non-invention every other week keep rising.
Yeah... Kagawa should play behind the striker or he should be sold. There are a thousand & one teams that will put him to better use
rooney, kagawa and nani would be swapping positions during matches making the interchange of play more fluid. I am not one of those that believe if Kagawa cant start behind the striker he must be sold. Titles are won with great SQUADS not just the 1st 11, so i would still keep him until we bring in other quality creative players.

I would like to see carrick and cleverley play again with that back line behind them. that combo has been our best midfield partnership IMO in recent times, just that i felt cleverley was becoming a bit like carrick in his overly safe sideways passes. However i like what i saw in his minutes against City.
P.S I agree with you though that carrick has not been up to his usual standards in the last few matches.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 4:57pm On Sep 29, 2013
we need to start with this formation and lineup for 3 to 4 consecutive matches.
.......................de gea

......rafael.....vidic.......evans....evra

...............carrick.....cleveley........

.....nani..........rooney.......kagawa

.................RVP.

I believe this is our best starting lineup at the moment and it will eliminate a few avoidable issues..

1)Rio/Vidic combo does not gel with Carrick/Fellaini combo. Why? Cos those r 4 speed challenged players at the core of midfield and defence. When Rio and Vida play together they tend to sit deep to reduce the speed behind them and cut off runs behind by opposing strikers.

What this does is to open up space in the central midfield as the back line falls more and more to the back. When you have 2 players like Carrick and Fellaini who cant cover much ground it leads to a lot of unchecked movement and runs at our defence by opposition midfield.
P.S the main culprit in this Rio Ferdinand whose pace is totally gone and as a result whenever he is on the pitch we find it hard to play high and press and whenever we lose the ball our defence looks shaky.

2) In the absence of really good wing play RVP's supporting cast needs to be comprised of technically decent players who can come infield if necessary and offer numbers and quality play. I believe rooney, kagawa and nani are better than the other options we have in that respect.

3) Januzaj and Zaha to take the squad positions of Giggs and Young in the team. We need legs AND creativity in this team Young offers only legs and Giggs offers only creativity.

Lastly if we sort the problems with creativity out and have a regular back line playing week in week out (minus ferdinand) our form should improve and top 4 can still be achieved

superstar1: They need to call an emergency board meeting or the fans should demand one as a matter of urgency.

If things continue this way till January when we should be reinforcing(if Glazers and Woodward will see the reason to), we will definitely be in the drop zone.

Come to think of it, city changed coach and they are not that bad after all, same with chelsea, barca and bayern.

It is either we got a mid table coach or our players are jokers.

a bit of both i think
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 6:59pm On Sep 28, 2013
elampiro: 1. Under rating the opponent led to non starting of key players like RVP, Evra, Vidic and Rafael.

2. We had two flank players who were weak at retracting to help defence yet Moyes went for a 4-4-2. The central midfield was where we were outplayed. The vacuum meant Kagawa and Rooney had to devout most of their attention on helping the defence instead of concentrating on attack.

3. Janujaz for Kagawa put the nail on the coffin. We lost experience and team work due to wrong substitution and it led to further instability on the left. Janujaz should be used in matches we are two goals ahead. Welbeck or Valencia would have offered an additional force to our midfield to subdue the opponents. The central midfield needed force to chock or overpower Westbrom.

4. Ferdinand, Anderson and Buttner should be taken off the first team completely. Fabio should deputised for Evra. Evans can still play the number 3.

5. Jones should never play the number 2 again. He lacks overlapping skills.

6. Nani was very good today.

7. Next time start Chicha from the bench. He isolates himself so much that he becomes minus one. Probably he would have been our super sub today when we search dearly for the goals towards the end.

I repeat, Anderson - Buttner- Ferdinand are not Manchester United materials anymore. Buttner has a fake leg over that takes him to the left 100% of the time.
LOL ,very true

What kind of manager is this?

Does he not understand the impact of these kind of statements? On the players and fans in general?

After last weeks comment about expecting what happened against Citeh to re occur, now this.
the guy might not last the whole season if he alienates the fans more with his silly statements which just compound the poor play on the pitch

Cristalz: United's defense has become a joke, De Gea included.

I've got to blame Januzaj for losing the ball so easily. If he hadn't been so weak in possession WB wouldn't have been able to get up that flank 'n go make a jackass outta Rio.

Chicharito's positioning has been poor, and that's just the hard truth. RVP had berra rectify that now that hez on.

Lovely equalizer from Rooney. And without RVP's help, I might add. He is just beautiful.
hope this is rio's last season mehn. vida and evans have enough "experience" to lead the other young defenders and we could get someone else inwhen he goes. its a sad thing but he has been showing his age this season
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m):
coogar: you are a tool....
hernandez is running towards goal - the passer is behind him and has a clearer view of the defence line. he's the one that must check himself whether to pass or not. if he's not sure, he should retain possession & let hernandez start again. referees don't flag strikers offside if the passer retains the ball.

coogar: will you shut your mouth?
a well-timed run depends on the passer of the ball much more than the recipient. you can start spewing nonsense but the key to hernandez's run is he runs from an ONside position. if the passer can't pick him from that initial position then the passer gets the blame, not the runner!!!

it's common sense....

what do you expect with rooney upfront? the fat scouser can't pull trees on his own. he needs RVP to function well. if the partnership was RVP/chicharito, we would be 2-3 goals up by now.

it's so bad now rooney's now the media darling, a more competent kagawa can't even play in the hole any longer under moyes otherwise moyes gets baptism of fire from the media.
you can shut your mouth first!
i was wondering how long it will take you to lose your little sense and start ur rude ways.u need to check urself
its also common sense that when the striker runs offside before the passer turns with the ball he needs to check himself.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 3:58pm On Sep 28, 2013
coogar: why did nani pass the ball then? chicharito's job is to make the run as soon as a united midfielder gets hold of the ball. if hernandez's run is faster than nani's nervous system then nani must hold the ball & retain possession - hernandez can always try again.

giggs, vidic, evra, cleverley, rafael not on the bench, their career must be over as well. how do you people watch your football. there are 27 players in united, the manager can only name 11 and bench 7 players. about 10 players per week will not make the travelling squad.

moyes is a complete idïot....
the game on tuesday is not a must-win game. it's an away game. win all our 3 home games and get a single draw/win away and that's job done in europe. 10 points & above is what we need to qualify.

today's game is a must win game - the league leaders are opening a big gap that can become insurmountable if we don't start taking points.
are u watching the match? nani had to delay the pass unnecessarily until much later. had chicharito made a better timed run nani could have released him earlier for a tap in.
if the onus is always on the passer like u seem to claim why are some strikers hailed for their WELL TIMED RUNS? it means there are others who need to work on their timing e.g chicharito
nobody is heaping too much blame on d boy,he is a good striker but there is room for improvement.
