I am a fan of Cleverley but i felt over the last few months he had become more and more like Carrick in his passing and general game play and as a result our forward play suffered. I am not saying possession football is not good but having 2 extra cautious midfielders was a bit detrimental to the way United has traditionally played.Playing alongside Carrick means Cleverley has to be the one to venture forward and take the occasional risk with his passing I stated earlier in an earlier post that the acquisition of new quality midfielders to compete for positions might be the challenge Cleverley needs to raise his game and i still hold on to that hope |
chamotex: Exactly, which further buttresses my point that they are not good enough.o boy see vex! na 3 times u post ur reply o ![]() but seriously i feel ur pain. i have a fellow United fan who is a friend the guy has been posting his disappointments on facebook all weekend. for me i have decided to take things easy cos i check all permutations i no know wetin we go do A) sack moyes..........which manager is available that will take the job and we are sure wont fail the way moyes seems to be. B) keep moyes and overhaul the team..........which world class players will be willing to come to our club and play under moyes.as we saw in the summer money doesnt always buy love. C) sack and moyes AND overhaul the team...........instability could set in D) moyes stays and somehow turns things around with these players E) keep moyes and slide into mediocrity a la liverpool under Graeme Souness. |
in the 2006/2007 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams in the 2007/2008 EPL season berbatov scored 3 goals against top 4 teams in the 2008/2009 EPL season berbatov scored 1 goal against top 4 teams in the 2009/2010 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams in the 2010/2011 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams in the 2011/2012 EPL season berbatov scored 0 goal against top 4 teams in the 2012/2013 EPL season berbatov scored 2 goals against top 4 teams A GRAND TOTAL OF SIX EPL GOALS AGAINST TOP 4 TEAMS IN 7 SEASONS NOW if that is not a flat track bully please what is? P.S the point would be further driven home when you research his goals against relegated teams in the same period ![]() e.g he scored as many goals ( SIX) against relegated teams in the 2010/2011 season ALONE as he had scored against top 4 teams in 7 seasons A bit of fact checking would be appreciated instead of coming here and making blanket statements that are untrue ![]() |
coogar: since 06/07, berbatov has scored 4 goals against everton & arsenal. 5 against chelsea, 3 against spurs & 5 against liverpool. fat track bully indeed.everton? now thats a top team.after all we pinched their manager. And we know from the earlier posts that at least 3 of those liverpool goals came when liverpool came 6th in the 2010/2011 season.so are u saying he has scored grand total of 8 goals against a top 4 team in the last 7 years? an average of just over 1 goal a year? NOW if that isnt a flat track bully then what is? P.S in the same period Wayne Rooney has 18 league goals against top 4 sides in the EPL alone. |
in the season he was top scorer for United Berbatov scored in the following matches 1 goal against Newcastle match ended 3-0 1 goal against West Ham match ended 3-0 1 goal against Everton match ended 3-3 Hat trick against Liverpool match ended 3-2 5 goals against Blackburn match ended 7-1 1 goal against Sunderland and match ended 2-0 1 goal against Birmingham and match ended 1-1 Hat trick against Birmingham match ended 5-0 2 goals against Blackpool match ended 3-2 1 goal against Bolton and the match ended 1-0 1 goal against Fulham and match ended 2-0 His goals came in 11 matches and included a hat trick against Liverpool , hat trick against relegated Birmingham, 2 goals against relegated Blackpool 1 goal against relegated West Ham and 5 against Birmingham. 7 of his 20 goals came against relegated teams and 5 against 15th placed Birmingham Notice the lack of any goals against a top 5 team. Berbatov is the epitome of the flat track bully |
berbatov is just a very skilful flat track bully. He bangs in goals mainly against mediocre teams but when its crunch time against the big boys he folds like a cheap suit |
SailorXY: I'll like to see Carrick get bench time @ least 3 games cuz he's getting more comfortable about his place & his sloppiness + non-invention every other week keep rising.rooney, kagawa and nani would be swapping positions during matches making the interchange of play more fluid. I am not one of those that believe if Kagawa cant start behind the striker he must be sold. Titles are won with great SQUADS not just the 1st 11, so i would still keep him until we bring in other quality creative players. I would like to see carrick and cleverley play again with that back line behind them. that combo has been our best midfield partnership IMO in recent times, just that i felt cleverley was becoming a bit like carrick in his overly safe sideways passes. However i like what i saw in his minutes against City. P.S I agree with you though that carrick has not been up to his usual standards in the last few matches. |
we need to start with this formation and lineup for 3 to 4 consecutive matches. .......................de gea ......rafael.....vidic.......evans....evra ...............carrick.....cleveley........ .....nani..........rooney.......kagawa .................RVP. I believe this is our best starting lineup at the moment and it will eliminate a few avoidable issues.. 1)Rio/Vidic combo does not gel with Carrick/Fellaini combo. Why? Cos those r 4 speed challenged players at the core of midfield and defence. When Rio and Vida play together they tend to sit deep to reduce the speed behind them and cut off runs behind by opposing strikers. What this does is to open up space in the central midfield as the back line falls more and more to the back. When you have 2 players like Carrick and Fellaini who cant cover much ground it leads to a lot of unchecked movement and runs at our defence by opposition midfield. P.S the main culprit in this Rio Ferdinand whose pace is totally gone and as a result whenever he is on the pitch we find it hard to play high and press and whenever we lose the ball our defence looks shaky. 2) In the absence of really good wing play RVP's supporting cast needs to be comprised of technically decent players who can come infield if necessary and offer numbers and quality play. I believe rooney, kagawa and nani are better than the other options we have in that respect. 3) Januzaj and Zaha to take the squad positions of Giggs and Young in the team. We need legs AND creativity in this team Young offers only legs and Giggs offers only creativity. Lastly if we sort the problems with creativity out and have a regular back line playing week in week out (minus ferdinand) our form should improve and top 4 can still be achieved |
superstar1: They need to call an emergency board meeting or the fans should demand one as a matter of urgency. a bit of both i think |
elampiro: 1. Under rating the opponent led to non starting of key players like RVP, Evra, Vidic and Rafael.LOL ,very true |
Ogbologbo tio sanwo BIS ton ping! nice one A-40 ![]() DJ u dey form. now please play me Staying Alive by the BeeGees, its old school but very germane to the Man Utd situation. |
chamotex: Moyes: "I'm concerned after today..."the guy might not last the whole season if he alienates the fans more with his silly statements which just compound the poor play on the pitch |
A-40:LOL u r d DJ,u r here to cater to our needs musically. Better give us what we need or else we won't bring business for u again.....and u know that its very likely there will be lots of business on this thread this season. Oya play me ilefo illuminati |
dayokanu:you are here? A-40 no play me music before e comot. i am really sad today, pls DJ play me osondi owendi to lift the mood |
chamotex: We've lost 3 games already?oh boy eh, bros no cry yet o.its possible those tears might be needed later as its possible things will get even worse. |
6 matches played, 7 points garnered. This is getting really ugly |
chamotex: I dey laughthere is going to be a clear out of dead wood definitely.....rio,young and several others. however its getting more likely by the day that the manager will be one of the casualties also. it seems fergie was right, david moyes does give us stability.......MID-TABLE STABILITY ![]() |
me sef need some music to console myself A-40 where u dey? pls play me osondi owendi |
mbulela: how poor was Kagawa in the 1st half?he wasnt that poor IMO. maybe he got injured or something, there was no need for the change otherwise |
Cristalz: In other news, Aston Villa 3 - 2 Man City. Game still on. I shoulda watched that instead.saw villa's 3rd goal. poor display by the Kompany that was so imperious against us |
A-40:actually i am on siddon look mode. the worse Moyes is hopefully the more proactive the board/Glazers will be |
StarBoard: I ask you Mancs again, omo evidence dey pile up |
superstar1: It's so funny. West brom is playing us as we are at par.he is finished,no b talk of almost now o. |
Cristalz: United's defense has become a joke, De Gea included.hope this is rio's last season mehn. vida and evans have enough "experience" to lead the other young defenders and we could get someone else inwhen he goes. its a sad thing but he has been showing his age this season |
coogar: you are a tool.... are u talking from personal experience? ![]() did u shop for your brain from shoprite? ok i didnt know.but bros return it to them, tell them its not working. P.S hope u got 1yr warranty? |
oh boy i told them to watch amalfitano na. band boys are gathering i am sure |
anyways not going to get into a ridiculous argument with you, a waste of my time. carry on |
coogar: will you shut your mouth?you can shut your mouth first! i was wondering how long it will take you to lose your little sense and start ur rude ways.u need to check urself its also common sense that when the striker runs offside before the passer turns with the ball he needs to check himself. |
elampiro: Moyes should choke the midfield. There seem to be a wide gap between the defence and attack.choke which midfield? we need goals and u talk of choking? omo moyes trusts this adnan boy sha |
phil jones off and valencia on to right back to start the 2nd half. if it does not work haul chicharito off and bring on RVP |
coogar: why did nani pass the ball then? chicharito's job is to make the run as soon as a united midfielder gets hold of the ball. if hernandez's run is faster than nani's nervous system then nani must hold the ball & retain possession - hernandez can always try again.are u watching the match? nani had to delay the pass unnecessarily until much later. had chicharito made a better timed run nani could have released him earlier for a tap in. if the onus is always on the passer like u seem to claim why are some strikers hailed for their WELL TIMED RUNS? it means there are others who need to work on their timing e.g chicharito nobody is heaping too much blame on d boy,he is a good striker but there is room for improvement. |
chrisley024: Rio's reaction is less than d@ of a snail.LOL, the guy looks dazed....omo old age don dey set in |
