Valencia was so naive today it wasn't funny. Strangely so cos he is usually so in tune with his defensive responsibilities. Only good thing i can say for Young is that he offered Evra more protection.

Ferdinand was slow to react and looked off pace throughout,3 matches in a week is one match too many for the old boy esp when the 3rd is against heavy hitters like City.Hope Moyes learned that lesson. H e should have been rested midweek.

Vidic and Evra weren't too poor.

Carrick and Fellaini were competing for the crown of mediocrity and although Fellaini was poor i think Carrick was more disappointing considering his talents.

Welbeck and Rooney had little service from the midfield and struggled for most of the match.HOWEVER Rooney was the only one that looked like his drink wasn't spiked with Valium,he TRIED to compete unlike the others.

The Asinine Young issue has been overflogged and i foresee a long spell on the bench for Quasimodo

Ibime: Carrick and Fellaini are too sluggish. One of them needs to step down for Cleverley.

I've been telling Fellaini lovers on Chelsea thread for some time that they would be surprised at Fellainis sluggishness when they see him in a midfield two.
oh boy see as fellaini they jog like say he get belle. no urgency to move forward with the ball,no urgency to track runners defensively,no urgency close down his man. his turning arc is as wide as an olympic athletic track
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc(m): 5:57pm On Sep 22, 2013
however when a team concedes 4 goals you have got to look at the defense and those supposed to help out with that.

Rio Ferdinand had a poor day at the office today, was caught ball watching several times, lost his man and didnt pick up late runs into d box.

The full backs were overrun several times. However City were able to overload on our full backs and advance their own full backs forward because carrick and fellaini couldnt compete in midfield and our wide men especially valencia shirked their defensive duties

Moving on, what does Kagawa have to do to get a game. I cant imagine the guy would be happy seeing wastepipe Young starting ahead of him weekly?
dont worry ASININE YOUNG'S days are numbered. He has just been given enough rope to hang himself

Cristalz: RVP being present on the pitch today wouldn't have made any impact whatsoever.
The overall performance woulda made him look like a handsome ass, the way Welbeck and Rooney have been made to look since the beginning.
completely agree

JM just said that Juan Mata's performances in his last 2 matches have not been convincing enough to include him in the match day squad.interesting
He also implies Luiz is out because he is not positionally and emotionally stable.

coogar: talk about instant impact....
hopefully, this would prompt birmingham to play him in every game. these lads need game time & the experience. lingard would come back and fight for a first team shirt.
i am happy for lingard. he and larnell cole were the quiet ones in that explosive youth team with pogba, morrison, will keane and tunnicliffe.
since then his finishing has improved markedly and apart from pogba i think he has made the most improvement in that side.
hope he comes back to fight for a first team place in a few months and hopefully with lingard, zaha and januzaj coming up that signals the beginning of the end for your boy Asinine Young........as well as baba Giggs of course cheesy

dayokanu: This is how Chelsea ruins some players career

In a World cup year playing for a competitive National Team Jose decides to ruin Mata.

Why not just sell him in summer

Look at how Bayern sold Gustavo and Gomez without any fuss to their preferred clubs just to help their careers

Financially, Mata this summer would have gone for an upward of 40m, After a season on the bench and playing as a full Back lets see how much he goes for

Those eagerly celebrating the coming of the Special one I wonder what they have to say now

I am hoping Fulham gets the win today
u too talk. just make sure say band boys and instruments complete today grin

we suppose start with bonue fuji today then rewind to talazo .hope rising cheesy

-Tyson was a ferocious attacker and woeful in defence yet he is one of the All time Boxing great

-Barca is a blistering attacking team but suck defensively and in goalkeeping yet one of the greatest team of modern times

-Brazil 1970 was a great attacking team which was mediocre in defence yet the best team of their generation

-Madrid at the turn of the century cant be bothered with defence and yet achieved a lot

-The Italians are one of Europes best side and they place more emphasis on defence than attack

-Juventus is the best Italian club domestically yet they are a very defensive side

Point is there are many ways to win and to be a great side

This is actually ironic because Madrid at least recently actually have more quality overall but less balance
Iniesta and Xavi played in a system that allowed their abilities to be highlighted and flourished look at Iniesta for example who by all standards is goal shy if he were in another club odds are he would have been offloaded

Abidal,Thuram,Puyol,Alves,Marquez,Pique? Who said Barcelona didn't have good defenders? List Madrid defenders and tell us about this so-called "gulf in class"? Are you talking about Madrid that could not sniff UCL semis before Mourinho came along and were routinely r@ped by Lyon and Liverpool?

They might not have been exceptional or household names but they were competent and did the job else they woulda been exploited! Simple
when the attacking players are pele, rivelino, jairzinho, tostao, gerson and the defending players are in your own words "not exceptional" does that seem like balance to you?
that team like so many other great teams won because they had exceptional players in some departments of d game not because they were balanced.dont go believing that all great teams had balance, supreme quality in one department can make up for deficiencies in some other departments

I meant a gulf in class between Barca's attacking players and its defensive players.as has been repeated ad nauseam here when u talk abt balance u r comparing the different departments of the SAME team

Thuram? really? are u talking abt the 34yr old over the hill guy that played in 41 la liga matches in 2years? hope u r aware that thuram's 2yrs in barca were the seasons btw their 2nd and 3rd chaps league titles.they didnt win anything in europe with thuram.strike him off that list he was past it by then.Alves is a mediocre defender better going forward than defending.that leaves puyol and pique, marquez i liked but injuries curtailed his career. now compare that to messi, zlatan, ronaldinho, etoo, henry, iniesta, deco etc

@Afrodoc
How do you dominate Europe for 5 years without sufficient balance? That is a very significant sample size so its hard to believe they did so without being even more balanced than Madrid. Forget the names being paraded by Madrid

System and Coaching >>> Individuals

Barcelona had a system with a coach and core of players that understood the system and executed to a T. It doesn't get more balanced than that
no need to over flog the issue. like i said earlier there is a difference between balance and quality.
barca dominated because of their quality not cos of balance.they were an attack heavy team with one of the greatest attacking talents ever ably supported by artists like iniesta, xavi etc and u can throw in etoo and ronaldinho.they had less talent at the back in terms of numbers and quality and their defenders were not the topnotch performances their attackers were, there was a gulf in class. thats not balance

pele's team of 1970 wasnt very balanced but it had quality and was successful and regarded as one of the greatest ever.
there have been several great teams that had balance and several great teams that did not.balance is not a sine qua non to success

debosky: I have a question for you Ibime: Is there ANY loss that you wouldn't blame on Emenalo? I ask because you were counting almost all of Benitez' losses as caused by Emenalo (similar to what you did for RdM).

It is too easy/convenient to blame every bad result solely on the player buying policy.

By the way, you've been unfair to Emenalo - in your 'winger count' you conveniently ignored he also signed Cahill - or was he not a 'scouted signing' grin
my point exactly you can't blame every defeat on imbalance and ascribe it to the machinations of a guy who works in the boardroom. at what point do you start holding the players you do have and the manager who sets them up accountable?
