Berbatov was always going to move on. He wasn't an integral part of the team anymore, he barely even played the previous season. If we hadn't signed Van Persie we would've gone for other strikers.

We all know Ozil is a very good player, no doubt. But we have more pressing issues than getting an attacking midfielder. We need to strengthen the central midfield first, if there's still money to get Ozil, then by all means.

coogar: buy ozil first - raid any bottom club with a decent hatchet man and we are sorted. there are millions of players like herrerra in the french league. not to many ozils in the world. getting the scarce commodity first should be the main priority - the herreras can wait till 11pm.

Fellaini,Herrera,Ozil,De Rossi etc 2 of them should come in

he would be doing the basics - screen the back four, get stuck in and release the pass from 5 yards. we are not asking him to throw raking passes or score goals. young fletcher was like that here....he wins the ball & let scholes deal with the pass. carrick was also like that when he first joined us if he's playing alongside scholes - they all let scholes deal with the distribution. this wigan lad would be a steal!

we had rooney, berba and hernandez when we signed van persie. players like ozil are not always available. if there's a chance to sign him, just do it especially if he's joining a title rival. had van persie joined city last season, they would have won the title.

i think we should strengthen central midfield first but u have a good point there.
truth is if we buy ozil i will be very very ok with it but it should be as an addition to a central midfielder not instead of a central midfielder

coogar: yes, that guy was as good as carrick if not better than last season. he cannot be more than £5m. he would reduce his wages to play for us sef.

martinez is trying to take him to everton - i am thinking they are waiting for us to take fellaini but mcarthur can be the missing link in that midfield.

thats McCarthy (the younger one) not Mcarthur.
he was quite good last season,but its a big step up from Wigan to United as Valencia has proved.i need to see more of him
Ozil is a good player but his best position is behind d striker where we already have Rooney and Kagawa jostling for position.our priority should be someone who can play with Carrick in central midfield but has more in his locker going forward than Cleverley

hopefully herrera or another quality CM coming will send cleverley to the bench where he belongs.
and i really believe some bench time will do him some good.like some have said he showed some promise initially
but he has now being infected with d spirit of sideways and backward passing AND he he is not aggressive enough in his forward play.

having such a player partnering carrick in midfield has placed too much pressure on our wingers to offer the creativity we need but unfortunately they also suffering from their own malaise at d moment .

@Ruudie its not like fans are panicking (at least i am not) and its not even the results BUT i struggle to remember a stretch of games in which United have struggled so badly to create chances.right from preseason its been the recurring decimal in our games,the lack of chances created for an increasingly frustrated strike force esp RVP.

the last match was like watching Everton playing in United jersey.

as a winger if you make ZERO dribbles in a match and u make ONE accurate cross out of NINE like Ashley Young did you know u had a tough day at the office.

while there has been so much said about our lack of creativity from central/attacking midfield an insidious problem developing is the lack of quality wing play from our players.

when a team has wingers that are unable to deliver an accurate cross (Young,Valencia), unable to beat a man (Giggs), and unwilling to even take their marker on (Young) then you know that Manchester United wing play has gone to the dogs.

I believe in the medium term starting shirts will go to Zaha and Nani

young did better than carrick/cleverley in the first half. carrick had a pass completion of 69% in the first half, i have never seen him that poor. no real support for van persie - the crosses were too close to the goalie or blocked by the first man.



vidic is not comfortable with the ball at his feet!
he's so unsure of himself - he's too stiff! he takes forever to decide what to do with the ball. rio is just plain lazy - a defender of his experience should be communicating where he wants his midfielders to receive the ball.

coogar: how was young poor? he made the first cross as early as the 2nd or 3rd minute. he kept the ball well, retained possession and if evra had been more clever with the ball, something would have come out of their combo in the first half. young's side of the pitch was our only penetration in the game until nani/valencia were reunited!



giggs/nani? mention one cross delivered by giggs - in short, mention one good thing giggs did today. it was young pinging one volley that was blocked outside the box. young did better than anyone in the midfield that started the game.







the people making the backpasses take the blame - vidic is a left footer, if the ball is put to his right foot, he struggles. my problem today was the lack of mobility in the midfield - vidic/rio had no one to pass to when trying to distribute. it's the reason they make back passes - cleverley & carrick kept hiding instead of making themselves available to receive passes.

I agree that giggs was poor,but young did not exactly cover himself in glory either.

FYI Nemanja Vidic is RIGHT FOOTED
just that he plays on d left side of defence usually cos he is more comfortable there than d other centrebacks apart from mayb evans

minus his mistake of getting caught on the ball that led to the liverpool corner. we still had time to defend that corner, rio allowed agger to steal the header & sturridge just flicked with his head into the net....

young was poor.he kept getting the ball backing his marker and as a result kept passing the ball back to vidic and rio

giggs and nani on the other hand were able to face the full backs even if their final ball was inconsistent.

vidic had a near howler back pass and rio was partially culpable for the goal after young's mess up.

Guys I know it's a bad result, and the performance wasn't up to scratch. But we shouldn't start panicking just yet. Our performance at Anfield the last couple years haven't been much better than this. Although we won there last season, but you and I would agree it was down to a little fortune. Even with 10 men, Liverpool still bossed us for a large part of that game last season.

This result won't define our season. Winning the league doesn't depend on us winning the big clubs(although it feels good to win them, for pride).

I'm sure Moyes knows we are lacking some quality in midfield, hopefully they can get one or two quality players In by tomorrow. No need to go overdrive with negativity. Still early doors.

young is our best winger on the left. he's got more penëtration than any player we have got bar nani on that left side. his in-swingers are massive!

i am so happy rooney is not playing - he's only had 1 good game @ anfield as a united player and that was as far back as his debut season with us.
