This is not a uncommon feeling and kudos to you for raising a very common but unspoken problem.
Many women and some men overlook that a marriage and having a relationship are not one of the same.

Some men forget that motherhood is another layer to the many roles a woman takes up in a marriage. Some women neglect one and focus on the ohther. They are two things but they must co-exist to achieve an equilibrium. A man will feel left out especially in our culture where child rearing is seen as purely the domain of women. Why do we make fun of the man who feeds, washes and even carries his own children on his back. I recall an article on this forum where many had issue with this man who had his child on his back while his wife sat an exam.

We practice child rearing that puts the man as a disciplinarian and not that of a nurturing parent. I am not talking about men being neutered of their role. Some of the comments here shed light regarding mindset intresting how politics seep into things or used as responses irrelevant of course but that is the society we live in.

Here is a simplistic line of thought: "there is no reason for a man to hit a woman" (or his wife).

If there is good cause, a man should by all means hit a woman. Good cause here refers to physical assault by the woman. If you raise your hand to a man you should be prepared to defend yourself physically.

It is by no means cowardly to hit a woman who assaulted you first. Some women think they can go about slapping guys and roughening up shirts without consequence just because they are females. The right guy would disabuse them one day in a non too pleasant manner.

As for verbal abuse, the man may not lay a finger on her. Those women who get battered for their fat mouths and sharp tongues should count themselves unlucky to be paired up with men who don't take disrespect lightly. Better move out of the relationship or bridle your tongue.

I have long ago stopped castigating the men in all cases of domestic violence. I believe the woman with the sharp tongue would have caused the man bodily harm if she could but had to settle for haranguing and vilifying him in a manner that touches his soul. Such women ask for the smacking that comes to them.

An architect basically prepares architectural drawings and carry out periodic evaluation to check for consistency of the actual construction with the design, not necessarily supervisory services.
