Considering all these level of infidelity in marriages I wonder if one would eventually get married, because where I come from when a wife cheats on her husband and the husband seeing sign's and his fore father's appearing in His dreams and yet he keeps mute, without interrogating his wife that man will eventually die but if he interrogates her and she denies a strange ailment will befall her, until she accepts her wrongs and do a cleansing in the traditional way....For e.g if a man travels and his wife use his food plate to dish food for her lover, when the husband comes back from his journey he would see strong signs and needs to question his wife but if he doesn't overlooks such signs and eats with same plate he would die instantly huh

All of you here forming 'dont be judgemental' how many of you would allow your kids marry from broken homes? Broken homes and absence of father's is one of the major reasons the black America community is where it is. It is not that the person would be bad, but you can't rule away the upbringing and background which the person grew up in. This setting forms the basis for how the person views the world and interacts with people. As such the person would bring a lot of baggage into the marriage.

author=Tripitaka post=88871546]Have you dated a girl who is a product of incest?
Have you dated a girl whose brother raped the mother for ritual purposes?
Have you dated a girl who grew up to find out that her actual dad is the family driver, but the pregnancy was passed on to the "willing dad"?
Have you dated a girl whose own father has been sexually abusing?
Have you dated a girl whose mother's nude pictures are all over the internet because she was caught shoplifting?

I believe your answer would be "No", as you would have included these in your narrative.

The families in your narrative can hardly be classed as "troubled" as I would like to think that your experiences are the peculiarities of your average Nigerian family. The average Nigerian family where diabolism and fetishism is real; where cohabitation is in vogue because the government outlaws abortion and your parents would insist on you living with the man who impregnated you even if he has no interest in marrying you; where young widows are still oppressed by their late husband's relatives; where poverty and unemployment is the norm hence a 40yr old unemployed man is nothing out of the ordinary.

The women you have been with are not from troubled families, at least in my opinion. They are simply from Nigerian families.
What type of bitch ass analysis is this for christ sake?

Ajet001:
Half way into the book titled "The Millionaire Next Door" and the recent really eye-opening posts on this thread has prompted me to make this post and I do hope it get the much needed engagement.

Wealth Accumulation in Nigeria
In the book, I learnt that the majority of the American Millionaires who were interviewed made their fortune not only by being frugal but also remained frugal after building their NetWorth.
They spend little on consumptions but save and invest a huge percentage of their income.
I can say, they literally save and invest to the point that their NetWorth can last them decades without working.Financial independence

On the contrary, what I have noticed in Nigeria is that people spend fortune on luxuries to appear rich, I mean if I were to choose btw someone who own a latest Mercedes Benz and someone using an old model, without thinking twice I would choose the guy with the latest model as the richest.(well, that was prior to reading the book).

I feel, high status, appearing rich, the extravagant lifestyle protraying people as truely rich is the norm in Nigeria.
Little or no attention is paid to NetWorth but the material things.

From the Undergraduate student using the latest iPhone (he/she will snap in front of mirror to show the brand of the phone)
The Banker using the latest model of vehicles
The ones who go on vacations (e.g Nigerian celebrities)
The ones with luxurious wristwatches et clothings, are most of the time on one mission; appearing rich.

I learnt from the book that nothing has been done wrong owning these properties only if they cost a very little percentage of your NetWorth.
But sadly, that's not the case in Nigeria. I feel people own luxurious properties with low NetWorth.

One of the Millionaires interviewed in the book, said the pride of owning a new car compared to used car is not worth paying additional $20,000.

In Nigeria once the high income stop coming, some might find it hard to maintain the expensive lifestyle.

One can also assume the principle of being frugal, Saving and investment might not be applicable in Nigeria to build wealth.

It lead me to my question how do one accumulate wealth in Nigeria?
Thank you for suggesting this book. I have even downloaded their second book. This is one of the books I would keep for my kids and grandkids

Because they get high when they tell their people back home about the millions of Naira they are earning over there. That's how on one thread a few days ago, one was flaunting that he received N626,000 from Canadian govt, he will never come back to Nigeria. That money is not up to $2,000. 1 month rent plus food plus other expenses will wipe away that money like Hypo.
God bless you. People.over there would convert the money to naira and I ask, are you spending the money in naira? What they should be looking at and comparing is their social status in the respective societies. Where are you in the social ladder? That's why it beats me that someone with N20m would want to travel abroad only to start menial work over there . It baffles me

Your thinking is the very one they must enlarge under microscope. So many people graduated from cambridge and oxford. Questions are what grade did you make and what were you able to make out of your attendance in school? Do you know how many times he declared bankruptcy in his businesses? When he is done with America with his intelligence the country will never remain the same again. Someone that said they should be injecting disinfectant into the body system. Do you take your time to think before writing self?

And for your info he studied in Wharton not warthorne like you wrote. Like Trump like commentator. Birds of like feathers.
Oga I finished top of.my class. Not that you are qualified to know.

Trump has done well for the economy. He has delivered most of his campaign promises. Declaring bankruptcy does not mean you are broke. It is an avenue the rich use to side step the government due to tax issues and legalities. 50 cent declared bankruptcy, yet he went on to do a movie series and has opened up businesses. Perhaps you should read to avoid exposing your ignorance. Stop watching CNN as your only source of information. And lastly my boy, anchor your arguments on facts it would help you be less sentimental when approaching issues. Now go and wash plate in the kitchen.

Tshew. I tell people that if Trump inherited a terrible system or government like when there was world economy recession, he would have been chased out of the office by citizens and not the legislative arm of govt trying to cut him off now. He is not intelligent he is just leveraging on the solid and wealthy system he inherited. What is the difference between Buhari that keeps quiet and a Trump that makes noise with no substance? When I heard him talk about injecting with disinfectant I collapsed.
Someone that went to Warthorne is not intelligent? Do you think it is easy to keep inherited wealth much less grow it? The way Una dey talk sef

All tribes will hate the Ibos and make them a target for all sorts of attacks when your leaders make statement like this and you stupidly defend and promote them. There are obviously no sane man in Ibo land any more to correct this man.

Education › Re: ASUU Salaries: Use Of BVN Will Expose Lecturers With Multiple Jobs – FG by afroxyz: 5:00pm On Apr 24, 2020
kikero:
The reason why lecturers have multiple jobs is simple...Nigeria does not have enough lecturers.

Indeed, the NUC issued a report in 2012 that pointed this problem of lecturer shortages out. And 8 years later, it is still a big problem

As a result, lecturers have jobs in 2 or 3 universities, because if they did not, many of those universities, mostly private, would lose their accreditation immediately. And with the number of people writing and passing JAMB far higher than the number of available spaces for them in university, that is a disaster waiting to happen.

Also, there is something called 'sabbatical' where lectures go and do some academic work elsewhere in another university, using facilities that their uni might not have. If government cuts that off because they want to stop waste...what would happen next.

Yes, let us get this IPPIS thing on the ground...but let the Educaiton ministry be realistic....otherwise, we may end up with universities lacking lecturers.
Bros. We would not end up.with universities lacking lecturers. Other qualified people would apply and get the positions. They are occupying the space of well meaning Nigerians that can contribute to knowledge.

You people give humans too much credit. History has shown that human always forget. Social distancing won't become a regular thing becAuse as human beings we are wired to be social. Anti-socialism reduces our humanity. That's why escaped convicts are always caught when they reach out to family or friends (something you would not do logically).

Pattern of consumption may change because many people may want to stock up more in the future . Also people would want to be more liquid and be cautious of where they tie their money down.

Jobs would be lost. But more jobs would be created for those that are creative. There would be a shift for online, technological ways of conducting business. I see AI playing a more dominant role in businesses moving forward.

But if na Nigerians. Leave . We no dey change. We have refused to change our attitude during the pandemic. People are still taking tricks laden with food stuff to reach their destination. Police is till complicit in enabling this despite the embargo placed by the government.

Is it post pandemic that people would change?

olujaidi:
Stuff like- what if social distancing becomes a way of life and people stop going to bars and joints, or they consume it in a different way that your operation isn't structured to cater for?

What if people become more health conscious and shun alcohol or suya or catfish?

What if the channel of consumption changes?

What if exchange rate affects cost of inputs and makes the booze etc harder to purchase?

What if people would rather spend their leisure elsewhere or do something different?

What if the spending priorities of the target customers change?

What if the customers lose purchasing power because of job losses?

What if insecurity increases and makes them stay home?

What of direct and indirect competition? New entrants to the location?

What of legal changes that could become permanent? Say a cap of 100 people at a location?

What if , what if, what if...

This pandemic has changed things which won't be obvious until sometime in future. Some things won't change sha. How will your business adapt?
