All the cities having wonderful rail system did not complete it at a go. This is a nice project. What Rivers needs now is for Wike to complete the project and possibly extend it more. If each administration continues extending the project steadily, in the next 20yrs Port Harcourt will have a new look and it's traffic problems would have been reduced to an extent. From 1999 till date is 16yrs. Assuming Odili took the bold step to start this project then, i'm sure Amaechi would have pushed it further and Port Harcourt would have been an envy to other places like Lagos and Abuja. |
Lagos the pacesetter. One deep sea port is planned for Badagry and another one is planned for Lekki. This is creativity. Lagos is already looking beyond oil and leveraging on it's closeness to the sea. I would like to see that rail line extend from Marina through VI all the way through Lekki to Epe. The Lekki and Badagry areas has massive potentials, it's only traffic and corruption that can limit it's growth. That traffic issue must be resolved before Lagos start experiencing brain drains. I work in VI and sincerely, i'm tired of the traffic I face daily, i'm seriously looking for a way to relocate before traffic reduces my life span. |
This report needs verification. I trust PMB anyways to have conducted the proper background checks. |
topearos:Civil servants are smarter than u think. They know they cannot be sacked by NA. The National Assembly can only 'recommend' their dismissal. This recommendation can be ignored by the Executive just the same way GEJ ignored the recommendation to sack Otteh. |
Saraki definitely does not hv tht power. That power resides with the senate or its standing committee. I dont think we have withnessed any senate sitting where a motion to invite the Permanent Secretary was advanced. The senate is not in session. ...Saraki's decision with some other principal members to have the Permanent Secretary to privately brief them on the state of the Nation's finances is fishy and should be condemned. Infact I won't be surprised if this private briefing is not about funding for their wardrobe allowance. If they dont have anything to hide, let them invite the PS to brief the whole senate, or the senate committee on finance which the selfish Saraki is yet to constitute due to his adjoning sitting to a date convenient to only himself and his cohorts at the detriment of the nation. |
porka:Chill, the movie is yet to come to an end yet. The police is already investigating the said alteration. After they are through with their investigations, they will charge any person found culpable to court. |
millionaireman:You are trying to be smart comparing the Clerk of the NA with INEC. The clerk does not have the constitutional power to change the senate rules. Be informed that the senate rules is made by the senate for the senate. Any modification has to go through the senate and adopted by the senate. What the Clerk with connivance with some senators did is ultra vires. |
hush15:See you, and you think your Unity forum and minority members are up to 2/3rd needed to impeach the president right? Keep dreaming. For your information, some guys with Saraki are also die hard fans of Buhari. Let Saraki mount any attack on the person of Buhari and you'll be surprised at how his rank and file will diminish. He'll be left with only the natural haters of Buhari, I expect you to know the regions these ones are from. And they definitely do not have the numbers to impeach the president. Infact I dont even think Saraki has the constitutional power to summon a Civil servant. That power resides with the senate or its standing committee. I dont think we have withnessed any senate sitting where a motion to invite the Permanent Secretary was advanced. The senate is not in session. ...Saraki's decision with some other principal members to have the Permanent Secretary to privately brief them on the state of the Nation's finances is fishy. If they dont have anything to hide, let them invite the PS to brief the whole senate, or the senate committee of finance which the selfish Saraki is yet to constitute due to his adjoning sitting to a date convenient to only himself and his cohorts at the detriment of the nation. |
GodsMercy1:The judge was obviously angry and took it on him. If u read the report properly u should have seen it there that it is not as if he was denied bail, but the Judge did not even hear the bail application. She said she was ordered to the case by fiat and that another Judge will be assigned to the case to hear the bail application. But unfortunately for Mr Accused and his other Accusees, the courts are on vacation till September. Therefore there was no other way than for him to be remanded in prison till his bail application is considered by the court. I think EFCC also contributed to his woes by saying he can not be appropriately detained at their facility. All the other commendations you wrote about him does not stand any legal advantage if he is found guilty of illegally receiving kickbacks from govt contracts. He will still be sent to jail without any sentiments. If it is in China, he may even be sentenced to death. |
Anazp:...and Ohakim has joined APC right? you guys just comment without having correct background information. The judge in the said case stated that she is not the one to handle the bail application, and therefore refuse to hear the bail application stating that a substantive judge to hear the application will be appointed. Unfortunately the courts are on vacation till Sept. What I want to draw ur attention to is that Lamido in quote was not denied bail, but rather, the judge refused to hear the bail application. |
Introvert & Temitemi1 seems to be same person. |
Chai see sacrosanct finishing. I'm loving this. |
Harbioollah:You make so much sense. US definitely backs Saudi, but if the situation gets messy they may stay back, unless they see there is a strategic advantage in the conflict for their interest and that of Isreal. They may even encourage the conflict with the mindset that a Iran/Saudi conflict will weaken Iran and give Isreal some advantage over Iran. The only reason this may seem unappealing to them is that such a conflict will cause a big upheaval in world oil prices and will affect US in the end. |
Super1Star:You don't know them?? They know how to distort history just to massage their ego and drum up ethnic strife. |
zendy:Beautiful. You are now condemning the crime as it should be and not trying to drum up ethnic sentiments. I only took u up on one line, where u tried to appeal to ethnic sentiment in your post by saying "he was killed cos he is Igbo". Both the first set of coupists and the second set are guilty of crime against the state and humanity. No one is cordoning murder, but the moment u start saying so so person was killed because he is Igbo, people will lay the facts bare for u to see. You are trying to distort history by saying the man was murdered because he is Igbo. That is totally false as I pointed out. The 2nd coup that led to his murder was the aftermath of the first coup that brought him into office. Northerners see their leaders as mini-gods. And they believe so much in an eye-for-an-eye. A lot of people warned Ironsi that he needs to give those coupists a swift trial and accord the normal military punishment to those found guilty. He did not heed the advice despite several warnings that majority of people over there were bitterly calling for justice. Not only were those Northern leaders killed, they were also humiliated both before they were killed and after they were gruesomely murdered. Ironsi risked his life and those of others by not swiftly according justice. The bitterness arising from his refusal to avenge the murder of their leaders emboldened the 2nd set of coupists to their evil bid. To you what I just wrote may seem like justification for the 2nd coup. But that is not the intention. What i'm trying to drum into u is that he was not murdered because he is Igbo as falsely raised by u, but because of his dilly dallying in according justice. The 2nd coup is equally and definitely a wicked and callous act, but try and condemn it as it is without appealing to ethnic sentiments by claiming he was murdered because of his ethnicity. |
zendy:Pls stop this embarrassing whining. Have u ever heard the Hausas say those they lost to the first coup were killed because they were Hausas? Have u ever heard the Yorubas engage in 'victim mentality' whining that Ademulegun was killed because he was Yoruba or that Fajuyi was killed because he was yoruba. Fajuyi a great, loyal and brave soldier was murdered alongside Ironsi, have u ever heard such 'victim mentality' whining as regards him?? I don't have the time to reply to ur remaining epistle. |
stepo707:Armed Robbery carries a capital punishment in Nigeria. |
zendy:Ironsi also refused to appropriately avenge the death of those who were murdered and paved the way for him to take over power. That among other things culminated into the coup that ousted him and led to his death. Just the same way the coup that ousted those before him led to their gruesome murder. If we insist we want justice for all the coups that has occurred in this country, it will lead to an endless war of attrition. That is why a lot of people decided to wisely let go. It's not as if they don't know the steps to take. |
StOla:Not only Lagos sef. Ogun state, one of the most industrialised state will soon join in the nearest future. And some unreasonable bigots will definitely die of beef and hate when that happens. |
kettykings:That project is different from this one. And that is another million dollar investment. The name of the project you are referring to is LADOL (Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base). And it was never scheduled to be executed in Bayelsa. The investors chose Lagos Takwa Bay as their site and have started work before GEJ tried to use executive fiat to order them to Bayelsa at about 2 weeks to the end of his Administration. They resisted him appropriately and filed a case at the court. Stop beefing and being a hater. There is nothing like project-grabbing here. Infact, it was even GEJ that attempted to grab that LADOL Lagos project and almost created bad blood because of that his thoughtless action. |
DankemzI:How come Ondo and Ogun are omitted from your list of coastal states? |
Nice one. |
Feel so sad for these victims. May the Lord grant PMB and PYO the wisdom on what to do to alleviate the sufferings being experienced over there. |
Until we have a working Occupational Health and Safety law in place, this kind of news will be on the increase. |
"Okonjo was a member of the National Economic Council, I was a member and we have asked her and I am on record at asking her , don't give us verbal report on matters of federation account. Give us written report and the power to spend is not vested in Commissioners, she knows that. You look at the constitution and tell me what section gives the commissioners of finance presided over by the Finance Minister all not elected by Nigerians."This is quite a fact. |
OSHIOMOLE REPLIES OKONJO-IWEALA, SAYS 'I DON'T WANT TO SAY SHE KNOWS HOW TO LIE WITH STATISTICS' Speaking on Channels TV this morning, Governor Oshiomole said; "I think with all due respect to former Minister Okonjo Iweala, she knows how to play around, I don't want to say lie with statistics. I have made this point that she keeps opening only parts of the pages and not the entire book. The logic of transparency is that the honorable minister must publish in full what is accruing to the federation account month to month and what is distributed to who? What she has been publishing is what went to the Federal government, state government and Local government. What she has never published simultaneously is what is it that accrued during the period out of which this said some was distributed so we can net what is distributed from all that was collected so we can see what was left in the Excess Crude. Now you can see her changing the goal post. Okonjo was a member of the National Economic Council, I was a member and we have asked her and I am on record at asking her , don't give us verbal report on matters of federation account. Give us written report and the power to spend is not vested in Commissioners, she knows that. You look at the constitution and tell me what section gives the commissioners of finance presided over by the Finance Minister all not elected by Nigerians. The membership of NEC is clear-the governors chaired by the Vice President representing the President, the CBN governor and other federal relevant ministries such as the ministry of National Planning. How would she avoid this level of responsibility? When people are abusing governors today nobody is talking about Finance commissioners.Sometimes not even finance Minister. Why will she rather have the conversation with Commissioners of Finance and not the governors? So she has some explanation to do."he said http://lindaikeji..com/2015/07/oshiomole-replies-okonjo-iweala-says-i.html

ifedubacorg:Shut up jor. There is nothing like betrayal. We are in a democracy and everyone has the right to support whoever they like. That is the beauty of democracy. Infact a lot of yorubas even voted for the PDP. At least 40% if not more of votes from the SW still went to the PDP. It is only the NC that showed such a result indicating a robust and matured politicking. You need to purge yourself of bigotry, that is d reason you take notice of an appoitee's tribe/region before any other thing. How many substantive appointments has PMB made now, that u are already crying. Abeg free Yorubas of your chronic hate & bigotry. because they refused to join u in your mob mentality does not equal to betrayal. |
Buhari does not seem to trust the DSS for now. Given his way as a man who takes his time in getting to the root of an issue, he'll obviously use the military and police as his inner security ring before he completes his X-ray of the DSS and certify them trustworthy. All these security agencies has the constitutional role to protect the president. As I posited in an earlier thread, in security, there is no rigidity, realignment of security is at the discretion of the person to be secured and his CSO. With the way Buhari is treading with caution in his relationship with the DSS. I seriously see it more as a security issue and not as a petty political issue as some people wants us to believe. Some people are of the opinion that it was because of the actions of the DSS garrulous and undecorous spokesperson, Maryln Ogar. I seriously beg to differ. This is beyond the petty issues of press releases. This is a more serious security issue. And if i'm not mistaken, the present DSS leadership must definitely have been identified as a threat to PMB. The rumours that the DSS bugged Aso Rock prior to PMB taking over may actually have some element of truth in it with recent developments. PMB is a person not given to rash erratic decisions. He'll definitely not move like a whirlwind firing people at different places, he will do a systematic purging of all the compromised leaders of the security agencies. But before that, he'll definitely surround himself with the most trusted people. For those screaming "it's only the DSS that is well trained in bodyguard protection", I hope u already have your answers that the Army intelligence corps is equally well trained in bodyguard protection. I personally believe the Army intelligence corps is our best security outfit in Nigeria. |
Vanguard featured similar story thus: Buhari’s ADC formally writes to withdraw DSS personnel from villa Abuja — Contrary to denial by the Presidency that operatives of the Department of State Services were not ordered out of the villa, Vanguard can authoritatively reveal that the Aide-de-Camp, ADC, to the President has formally informed the DSS that its personnel would no longer provide close body protection for the President as they are being replaced with men of the Nigerian Army and Police personnel “who were trained as Presidential Bodyguards.” It will be recalled that Vanguard reported, yesterday, that ADC to the President, Lt. Col Abubakar Lawal, ordered personnel of the DSS out of the villa and replaced them with men of the Nigerian Army. However, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina said: “President Muhammadu Buhari has given no such order. While it is true that a reorganization of security at the Presidential Villa which involves the realignment of personnel from various services is underway, the exercise does not translate to the expulsion of DSS personnel from the premises in any way. The changes being made are routine adjustments which are not unexpected in any dynamic environment from time to time.” But in a memo sighted by Vanguard, written by the President’s ADC, he stated that DSS personnel have been withdrawn from close body protection of the President and are being replaced by members of the Nigerian Army and the Police, adding that he was acting “sequel to directives.” 7 areas to be taken over memo listed about seven areas which the military and the police are to take over from the DSS operatives “with immediate effect.” Some of the areas listed in the memo which are no-go area for men of the DSS were Admin reception/passage; Service Chiefs gate; residence reception, office reception among others. It, however, noted that “personnel of the DSS in conjunction with other security forces are to man other duty beats/locations within the immediate outer perimeter of the Presidential Villa.” From 1999 till the recent incidenct where DSS operatives were ordered out of the villa, it was the service that provided close body protection and manned sensitive positions within the villa while soldiers and the police manned the outer perimeter of the State House. Already, the memo appears to have come into effect as only a handful of DSS operatives were seen at the outer perimeter of the Presidential Villa as military men in mufti, yesterday, took over all the other positions inside the Presidential Villa. From the Administration reception gate, where visitors are first screened before they get into the main villa building to the council chambers gate, there were no officers of the Department of State Services as only soldiers in mufti were seen in those places. Also, within the residence and the office of the President, the DSS body guards who were usually at the gate and the entrance were absent as they were replaced by men of the Nigerian Army who were, however, in mufti. Some few officers of the DSS were, however, seen under trees discussing in hushed tones as they awaited further directives from their superior officers. It was learnt that senior officers of the DSS, including the CSO to the President, were trying to resolve the matter amicably. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/buharis-adc-formally-writes-to-withdraw-dss-personnel-from-villa/ |
DSS Officials Barred From ‘close Protection’ Of Buhari Authorities of the Presidential Villa, Abuja have formally removed officials of the Department of State Services from spots where they can perform “close protection roles” for President Muhammadu Buhari. The decision to restrict the officials’ access to the President was the peak of the inter-agency rivalry that has been rocking security agencies in the seat of power since Buhari was inaugurated on May 29. Our correspondent on Thursday saw a copy of a memo redeploying the DSS officials from 10 beats that they had hitherto been manning inside the Villa. The memo issued by the Aide-De-Camp to the President, Lt. Col. Lawal Abubakar, and dated June 24, 2015 was titled, “Redeployment of Department of State Services personnel from close protection roles for Mr. President and some duty locations within the Presidential Villa, Abuja.” Abubakar explained that the decision to strip the DSS officials of their roles was part of efforts to enhance security within the villa. He said the development was necessitated by “recent events.” He however did not disclose what the events were. The ADC directed personnel of the Armed Forces and the Nigeria Police who he said were trained as presidential body guards to take over the DSS officials’ duties of providing “close and immediate protection” for the President with immediate effect. He listed the beats and locations from where DSS officials were withdrawn and replaced with PBGs to include the administrative reception and passage; service chiefs’ gate; residence reception; resident gate and office reception. “However, the personnel of the DSS in conjunction with other security forces are to man other duty beats and locations within the immediate outer perimeter of the Presidential Villa,” the ADC wrote. Meanwhile, officials of the DSS who were chased away from their beats on Wednesday were also not allowed access to their duty posts when they resumed work on Thursday morning. Their beats had already been taken over by plain-clothed military personnel. Many of them were seen under the trees discussing the development in hush tones. Those who were manning the two of the gates leading to the villa as well as the gate of the old Banquet Hall were however not affected as they were seen at their duty posts. Some of them, who spoke with our correspondent on the condition of anonymity, wondered why whatever issue that could have arisen could not be resolved with the DSS authorities. “If they feel that the DSS erred during the campaigns, some of us expect that they should also vent their anger on the management and not the entire DSS who served the President bewteen 1984 and 1985,” one of them said. Another official said, “Instead for the government to be promoting inter-agency rivalry in the country, they should have simply called the DG SSS to withdraw his operatives and not to set the military against the DSS. They should post us out instead of encouraging this unwarranted inter-agency rancour.” Our correspondent learnt that the development may also claim the current Chief Security Officer to the President and the Administrative Officer who are also DSS officials. It will be recalled that the Presidency had in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on Wednesday said Buhari had not given any order for the expulsion of DSS officials from the Presidential Villa. Adesina however admitted that a reorganisation of security at the seat of power was underway. Copyright PUNCH. http://www.punchng.com/news/dss-officials-barred-from-close-protection-of-buhari/ |
