EducationRe: No BVN, No Payment Of Withheld Salary - FG Replies ASUU by agabusta: 6:14am On Apr 24, 2020
omonnakoda:
The reason the so called advanced countries are ahead of us is because of how they manage their intelligentsia.
We have 2000 Nigerian trained doctors in the UK.
Think for one moment of the cost of producing them and the opportunity cost of not retaining them.

Two weeks ago we had a crisis in Rivers state about EXPATRIATES

why are we not producing people who can do the jobs of these expatriates

Why is it unlikely that a cure for coronavirus will come from Nigeria

This is an artificial and unnecessary crisis created by a government with a military mindset that does not value human capital.

The government is trying to control the universities something they couldn't do under the military government.

Now they want to have the switch for Lecturer salaries in Abuja where they can turn it off and on at will for any reason.

The reality is this CANNOT succeed. It will only succeed in reducing quality which is at an all time low.

If this is about fraud there are enough laws to tackle that.

This is about CONTROL.
They do this because their children do not attend these universities.

The people cheering need exposure to how the foreign universities that Buhari and Osinbajo send their children work.

It is very sad because the damage of 2 months ago battle cannot be undone in 20 years.

Eventually you end up with people not fit to teach in secondary schools as university lecturers
FG is simply trying to avoid duplication in payments. How hard is this?

There is nothing like a switch for lecturers salary. The FG has direct staff in all the states of the federation, and no one's salary has ever been switched on and off like a tap.

So far you guys want to keep drawing salaries from the FG, you must submit to the procedures set out by FG to curtail fraud.

Stay save
They are on their way to Lagos. Not that they are leaving Lagos.

Buhari was stationed in Ikeja and later Jos in 1983.

The only time Nigeria had a conflict in the NE in the 80's was against Maitassine sect and Buhari was never involved in the military clean-up then.

The useless BMC roach is a born liar.

All BMC roaches will be rounded up and tried as collaborators of this Satanic APC govt.
Check the history books. Buhari actually invaded Chad and didn't back down despite being directed to do so by President Shagari.

There's no hard evidence that the Chinese did this on purpose.

You are advocating for a 3rd world war based on speculations.

The world is definitely a better place without your likes in leadership positions.

Damn!

I might sound a bit naive but after all this, a thorough investigation should be carried out.

And if it is confirmed beyond every doubt that China deliberately nurtured and spread this virus then the affected parts of Europe and the USA should go to war with China for this.
And cause more deaths and a war of attrition.

HealthRe: COVID-19: US Records 1,169 Deaths In 24 Hours — Highest Single-Day Toll Globally by agabusta: 7:21am On Apr 04, 2020
kikero:
That's because the US is where China was in December.

Since then, China brought in measures like lock-downs (Wuhan was locked down for 2 months), extra testing (nowadays, people entering China are tested and quarantined till results come out)...and restriction in travels.

If the US had acted like China from January, they probably would have had less casualties.Instead many Americans were busy ignoring health warnings. Testing was not carried out on time. Trump too messed up a bit by not taking things serious. Then there are large incidences of hypertension, diabetes, obesity...all of which predispose to death from covid 19

(Russia on the other had was taking sterner measures by January..and even then has nearly 2000 cases. Taiwan already had a response setup...thanks to they being badly hit by SARS in 2003...lessons were learned.)

No political game here. Infact the Chinese economy has been hit badly and may take time to recover. Their manufacturing sector was out of action for 3 months...to the point that pollution levels in China massively declined. And with most of their customers out of action...what's the use of making things when no one can buy them.
Apt!

I don't have a party and neither is this politics. It is a big good on the side of the presidency to use a flag we do not recognize. We as citizens deserve to know what the flag is and besides, it isn't appropriate to have a party flag as this was a national address.
That flag has always been part of the presidency. I am surprised some people are just noticing it.

It also flies on the president's car and always well displayed behind the president.

Buhari is not a true leader. What true world leaders are doing in this precarious times are finding solutions on how to help and protect their citizens from the invisible enemy celled COVID-19.

As a matter of fact, Buhari should have been addressing the Nigerian public on a daily basis as to what he and his administrators are putting in place to alleviate fear and panic in the country regarding the pandemic.

I'm wondering why Nigerian people are not demanding for answers from him or as a matter of fact, protest for him to resign.

He shouldn't put himself before the citizens. It's a huge shame that he diverted what is meant to protect the Nigerian people for his and his cabal personal use

Covid19 is not respectable of any leader. Even those on ventilators in New York and Italy are still dying daily.
He has been too silent for comfort. Comparing the response of the Lagos state team and the Federal clearly shows that governance is taken more seriously by Lagos state.

However, saying the materials donated were hijacked by Aso Rock without giving us any proof is dishing out falsehood to the public.
HealthRe: COVID-19: Jack Ma's Donation Moved From Lagos To Abuja By The Air Force by agabusta: 1:18pm On Mar 26, 2020
Agboriotejoye:
I honestly think your ability to rationalise and think logically is low and your silly analogy exposed it.
What difference does it make whether they were purchased or donated? And who told you they are not for treatments? Will the medical personnels not wear them when going in to see the patients?
The FG should have done whatever they need do on the materials in Lagos and distributed them however they want to there. That's how to do things in an emergency not introducing bottlenecks. Have you not been watching the news about the response of other nations? Even the US decentralised and handed over power to the states to manage the crisis. Nobody is thinking centrally in terms of logistics and testing but here you are saying rubbish. No wonder we have only two ventilators in the nation's capital. It's dumb citizens like you that encourage such!!
What kind of dunce fellow is this? Purchase and donation mean same to you right? If Lagos state purchases items, does it need to go to Abuja before they use what was purchased? Even if FG purchases items, won't they do sorting before allocating to each state/NCDC?
So wearing PPE is same thing with treatment? Your thinking pattern is an embarrassment.

US has always been a decentralized country but you are definitely too dull to know that. Even despite the 'independence' of the states, have you not been seeing the way the New York governor has been tackling Trump over materials?
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/cuomo-knocks-trumps-claim-ny-ventilators/story?id=69790191

Stop forming smart and shifting the goal post, we all condemn the poor state of the health system in Nigeria. The number of ventilators is not what is being discussed. Even in the US, the strategic stockpile of ventilators is flowing from the Fed to the state, not as decentralized as your little brain conjures. How can items be distributed without a central point? I make bold to say again, that Lagos alone cannot hijack the materials. It is meant for every part of the country. Other parts of the country must also be well prepared against this outbreak.

See how dis one is thinking about emergency medical supplies in a time if crisis. O maa se o.
I wish I could slap you. Is it meat or cake they're sharing that you're counting father, first born, second born? Who do you like dis?
So you mean if a member of your family is sick in Abuja and the drugs for cure is in Lagos while your dad lives in Kaduna, you'll buy the drugs in Lagos, take it to show your dad in Kaduna before taking it to the sick family in Abuja? shocked
And you're counted among those who went to school o angry sad
You are very silly for your rude remarks above. I just used that simple example as an analogy, thinking breaking it down will make some of you with low thinking faculty to understand but I was obviously wrong.

Engage your thinking faculty na, these are not materials purchased, so your example of purchasing drugs does not relate. They are materials donated to the country for prevention efforts. They are not drugs for direct treatment. Materials donated to the country are to be handed over to the FG, who will distribute it appropriately to all the federating units.

States in the far East are as entitled to the materials as states in the extreme North and Lagos. The FG is in a better position to distribute based on criticality and available information. For your information, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control is a parastatal of the FG under the Federal Ministry of Health with Headquaters in Abuja.

The only issue with this approach is the logistic cost and time factor. Otherwise, they are well in order.

They could have allocated the packages and shared from Lagos at once

Taking everything to abj and sending to other places is double waybill cost, the cost might be ok to be handle by the Nigerian pocket, but then it's still a drain on the Nigerian pocket
This is a very good point. But trust civil servants now. The PS of the ministry and the Minister themselves will want to witness the whole sharing.

Whereas, there is a Federal presence in Lagos. They could have just delegated officials of the Ministry of Health in Lagos to do the sharing then distribute from Lagos to the entire country to save cost.
HealthRe: COVID-19: Jack Ma's Donation Moved From Lagos To Abuja By The Air Force by agabusta: 8:15am On Mar 26, 2020
WeRblessed:
They should have shared it between the states, instead of parking it to Abuja.
So you want to share something that was donated to the entire family in the House of the 1st born? Is that not rudeness to the Father of the House?

what was donated to the family must be taken to the House of the father of the House, for it to be shared for everybody. The only problem and issue I see is the additional logistic cost involved and the time factor. Otherwise, no big deal.

if Lagos state hijacks the materials, some of the people here will be the first persons to raise eyebrow and call them greedy that Lagos is not the only place in Nigeria.
HealthRe: COVID-19: Jack Ma's Donation Moved From Lagos To Abuja By The Air Force by agabusta: 8:11am On Mar 26, 2020
LeeAshava:
As of now the only information we have is that the donations were taken to Abuja and we've not gotten any news as to reasons for that action which is wrong, i think the reasons why it was taken should be stated first or while it's been taken
We cannot say the action is entirely wrong. The donation was made to Nigeria. The seat of govt is Abuja. So it falls under the purview of the the Federal Ministry of Health to receive the materials and then distribute round the country as they deem fit.

If the materials were directly donated to Lagos state, then there is no need to take them to Abuja. The Lagos state govt will receive them directly.

I am sure it does not make sense for materials donated to Nigeria to be hijacked by only Lagos state.
