Bbbwings:We need people like you in governance. The country can definitely not continue like this. We need systems that will run continuously irrespective of a strong man in power. |

megafaraday:It is said that Bode Rhodes-Vivour's son was the PDP Senatorial candidate in Lagos during the last general election. His name is Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour. |
As usual, politicians will always hail judgment in their favour. |
ozoneymcm:With the tight parking in most Lagos homes? Jump starter cables is hardly a solution at home. |
Liars! If you want to go the official payment route what they keep telling you at all their offices is that plate nos is not available. |
id911:Magu is a Commissioner of police not ACP. Stop dishing out wrong information to the public. He was promoted last year. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/265666-breaking-police-promote-efcc-chairman-magu-17-others.html |
One of Naija's Bright stars. Keep shining Dr. Akinwunmi. However, the country needs you as president in 2023. |
Buhari nominates Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for re-election as AFDB President President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Dr Akinwunmi Adesina for re-election as the President of African Development Bank (AfDB). Mr Adesina, while speaking at an event in Lagos on Sunday, appreciated Mr Buhari for nominating him for re-election for a second term as president of the bank. According to Mr Adesina, Nigeria has invested so much in me. “When asked by former President Goodluck Jonathan to serve as Minister of Agriculture, it was duty calling me to the land of my birth. “I served Nigeria to the very best of my ability. I thank God that Nigeria’s agriculture sector witnessed a much-needed transformation at the time. `With the strong support of President Jonathan and the then President-elect, Buhari, we campaigned very hard for the position of the President of the African Development Bank. “It was a Nigeria effort, as all hands were on deck. “This included our former presidents and heads of state, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo, and of course my dear indefatigable sister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who ran a spirited campaign for me. “By God’s grace, I was elected President of the African Development Bank on May 28, 2015, exactly 24 hours after my term of office as Minister ended. “The nation jubilated as I became the first-ever Nigerian to be elected President of the bank since its establishment in 1964. “Once again, Nigeria gave me air in my lungs. “At the African Development Bank, we have worked very hard. “In my four years as President, we have connected 16 million people to electricity, provided 70 million people with improved agricultural technologies to achieve food security. “We have also given nine million people access to finance from private sector companies, provided 55 million people with access to improved transport, and 31 million people with access to water and sanitation. “In all, 181 million people have directly benefitted from our investments. “I am proud of all my staff and the Board of Directors whose hard work and relentless support have helped make this happen. “The African Development Bank has continued to maintain its global AAA rating. Last year, the bank was rated the 4th most transparent institution globally. “There is still much to do. We have gone some way climbing the steep mountainside of Africa’s development, yet there is still much way to go until we reach the mountaintop. “Nigeria again is giving me air in my lungs, to keep on climbing. “I wish to immensely thank and appreciate President Buhari for nominating me for e-election for a second term as President of the African Development Bank and for being such a wonderful champion and supporter of my re-election,’’ Mr Adesina said. Blankstare:They had local collaborators. As it was then, it is now. |
kelvinginzie:Won with 2 justices against 1. The fact that it's not unanimous, puts a dent on the judgement. And the judgment was rightly overturned at the Appeal court, and the overturn affirmed by the Supreme court. End of story. |
maasoap:I always say that those Rivers and Akwa Ibom cases of 2015 will always come back to hunt political gladiators and the judicial system. The election of Wike in 2015 was fraught with so many irregularities. They used blackmail and sentiment to pursue their victories at the supreme court and went on celebration and mocking galore after the judgement, not realising the precedence it portends. Taking cue from that judgment till date, the Supreme court has not invalidated any gubernatorial election. People are just wasting their time and money at the courts. I definitely know that before the supreme court can throw out any gubernatorial election, it must be far worse than Wike's 2015 election. |
ITbomb:So what was the crux of this judgement? Tell us. |
kelvinginzie:Why are you people still calling those reruns illegal?? No court in the land has tagged them illegal. The reruns that were affirmed previous times include: Ngige vs Akunyuli Ohakim vs Okorocha Kogi state last gubernatorial election. Bayelsa state last gubernatorial election. Osun state election. Recently Sokoto state gubernatorial election Kano state gubernatorial election Reruns simply means the election is yet to be concluded. It's legality is immaterial to who was leading before and who finally won. |
Tecno66:Its not their fault now. What is the point in removing and supreme court overturning them? The Supreme court from 2015 till date has been very reluctant in cancelling any gubernatorial election. The lower courts are simply following the cue of the highest court in the land. |
Since the Judiciary affirmed the fraudulent election of Wike in 2015, it has become very very hard for the tribunal to cancel any gubernatorial election in the country. |
Omooba77:I fully agree with you, this man is a Future president of Nigeria. |
This is so sad. Playing with the lives of people's children. Instead of attacking the root of a problem, we only cut the stem, burying our head in the sand like an ostrich. The former principal was taken out of that place but the problem still persists, indicating that the main cause of the problem was not addressed. Govt should go and build a standard water and waste treatment plant in that place and employ professionals with adequate knowledge and training on food safety to man their kitchen. We dont want any other fatality in that place pls! |
1shortblackboy:There are 3 senatorial district in each state. Political actors usually try to spread the office of the Governor, Deputy Governor and Speaker amongst these districts. But the news is that the current speaker is from the same senatorial district with the PDP Deputy governor candidate for the election. In order to create a balance, the PDP wants to force him to step down. |
Naija politics. I thought the guy agreed to step down peacefully?? |
The news this morning is that he is from the same senatorial district with the PDP Deputy governor's candidate. So they are trying to force him to step down. |
pyrex23:Does it have to do with the fact that mothers are hard on their daughters to ensure they come out highly responsible and a home maker, while Dads are hard on their son to make them come out as proper men? However, Dads are just soft on their daughters thinking nothing much is expected from them as males are to provide for the family, while mothers also just pamper the boys with the thought that the major task in keeping the home is with the female folks. |
Fountainofyouth:She purposely instigated the provocation. She waved her hair in Tacha's face and some strands touched her. If you watched the video, immediately her hair was pulled by Tacha, Mercy looked directly at the camera like "Biggie hope u captured that?" And she still went a second time to wave her hair in Tacha's face. She infringed Tacha's personal space. But its all a game anyways. Tacha was stupid to fall for that provocation. She should have stepped back and calmly complained about the waving of hair. |
jerflakes:Na format na. One of them just vex drop that name, and insisted that's his first name. Others saw the format say e make sense, dem come follow. Lol |
This report is just blabbing. Senior Justices were recommended for the Supreme court, and they are still complaining. If they were bypassed, there would have been cries again. Nigerians are just complainers. The justice Garba that was the target of this report was also recommended for the Supreme court, so what exactly is The Sun trying to say?? |
The army has a point. Some reports have said the proliferation of NGOs in the North East is part of what is sustaining the boko haram war. |
Messi is GOAT jor, no controversy. |
Keyamo is too hot headed. I pray he does not use fight to scatter what Ngige has been using maturity and wisdom to achieve all this while with labour guys. |
Princewell2012:And you are still not getting the point. Institutions are different from the person manning them. If the president summons the CBN to provide an immediate briefing for him, and the governor of the CBN was unavoidably absent, it does not mean that request will not be met. Emefiele will simply delegate someone to do the briefing, most especially if the President was already aware of his absence. So because the President needs a security briefing from the Head of all security agencies, and Burutai is not in the country, that request must be put on hold till he comes back?? Someone (most likely the most senior officer) will simply fill his shoes. As simple as that. |
Boringdraw1:you are wrong. |
Princewell2012:So the Army starts and ends with Burutai?? If Burutai is not in the country, the army cannot provide security brief to the president?? |
