jln115: HAHAH 3rd world problems! But to be honest south africa is relatively cheap, with $5000 doller you can buy a decent car! ia mean my car didnt even cost $5000 Nigeria now produces brand new cars for $7,000 as Nissan and Peugeot rolled out from last year full scale high tech auto industry in Nigeria . |

jln115: Imagine if SA and Nigerian Governments just stoped being so stubborn, free trade between the 2 will be great our economy, i mean we both have what the other needs, for example SA has Coal, gold,Platinum Nigeria has OIL(a biggie) and what ever more you guys have what we dont. Your ungrateful current ANC government created open rivalry and envy instead of open black brotherhood and partnership. Mandela and Mbeki almost achieved what you said, Zuma wrecked it all . |

ActivateKruger: You don't have the capabilities offered by the SAS Drakensburg we built, it's very dated. It's just a logistics ship, NAF Alpha jets threat drove your Drakensberg away from Ivory Coast some years ago Cowards |

jln115: And iam guessing the Rafale and Eurofighter are also old fashioned and obsolete according to the village idi0t? Oh ! It hurts you? Your fellow Southie mumus were claiming JF-17 is not modern because it has delta wing of MiG-21, but unfortunately JF-17 does not have delta wing, it is actually the Gripen that has delta wing....I just helped you guys to shooot yourselves in the foot . |

jln115: SAS Drakensberg is a replenishment ship it doesnt need to be stealthy and no Algeria does not have a stealthy replenishment ship, but our valours are of stealth design, know go back to your Village you tw@t! Stealth-like, I said, don't quote me wrongly, shape is not the only way of stealth, the paint, the ECM defences, the navionics that reduce detection to protect the ship from enemy frigates. Check out Algeria's new logistic ship ! The Drakensberg is an old ship for generations past ! |

ActivateKruger: South Africa built patrol boats for Nigeria.... we have built the SAS Drakensburg, your Andoni doesn't compare. Not for Nigerian navy , SA built boats for a Nigerian Fishing control agency, civilian boat. Nigeria builds armoured boats for oil companies. You did no big stuff. Also SAS Drakensberg is an old out-dated ship . |

ActivateKruger: We're building them to suit our needs... that's the SANDF way Nigerian navy dockyard built 100% of IPV NNS ANDONI, and the second ship is almost ready, a bigger NNS ANDONI sister ship, we build to suit Nigeria's need. I still don't see any South African made OPV existing, even if we consult an oracle, we will find nothing . |

jln115: China built your ships for you in Nigeria Nope the Shipyard is owned by Nigeria. We got full technology transfer so we are building 70% of Africa's first stealth warship in a Nigerian owned Shipyard, Port Harcourt . |

MikeCZAR: 1. When?
2. Where?
3. Name thee unitv
4. How you reached that percentage? SADF had 4,000 men frontline. UNITA group saved you with about 80,000 men frontline. Your ego has crashed today . |

patches689: New IPV's is the first stage of Project Biro
The re-furbed Warrio class only have 5 years left on their hulls and the Mine-Hunters are also nearing the end of hull life, their replacement takes priority before we aquire new capabilities
Its a clear sign that project Biro is moving ahead as planned, and with bigger orders than anticipated. @Andrewza your navy man has been posting Project Biro here over 2 years ago, yet NO single contract, NO ship named, NO single OPV, NO single IPV.....NO money.....SANDF is broke . |

patches689: Nope, we have shown that all Olifant Mk1's use diesel not standard petrol engines.
Retaarrd! Nope, the source did NOT say ALL olifant tanks changed engines, and it is ordinary Wikipedia that any South African can edit and write his private opinions Give me a reliable source, burden of proof is on YOU ALL Okay, I know you CANNOT prove it....FAIL . |

patches689: Or maybe UNITA had better MANPADS because the Americans gave them Stingers
Maybe, Stingers allowed them to shoot down more Mig's because the Stinger was better than what we had at the time?
Stop looking for cheap insults you clown Truth hurts you butt hurt . Your 'Maybe' is your private imagination. Over 80% of Bush War soldiers on SADF's side were Angolan men of UNITA and FLNA rebels, so they get 80% of the glory, Cuban MiG-23 was always attacking them not you ! . |

patches689: Just like no contract has been signed for your Junk Fighters
Did you not read the artical? The SANDF does not panic buy like Nigeria, we take our time, we study the ships and what is best suited to our needs, we are in no rush. The RFI has been issued, RFQ for the IPV's was issued on December 3rd and the tender will be closed in June, OPV acquisitions will begin thereafter http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=37288:movement-on-the-ipv-front&catid=111:sa-defence&Itemid=242
Not to mention that the number of IPV's to be acquired now stands at 6, not 3.
And unlike your day dreams about obsolete Pakistani knock-offs, our project have clear mile-stones and come with concrete information.
"broke" SADF just outdid Nigeria in one fell swoop, soon orders will be places for 3 "light frigates" that bring our tally up to 7.
Deal with it. Nigeria named what we are buying....JF-17 Thunder. You name what OPV South Africa is buying...answer now ! . |

jln115: Its you that need glasses go read the sources again...oh wait...you cant READ No you can't read your own source that says 26 tanks out of about 230 tanks, what of the over 200 tanks? Wind blew them away? Burden of proof is on you ! Prove it....the other 200 tanks . |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by agaugust: 4:52pm On Dec 09, 2014 |
patches689: bt They didnt specify, so we will happily assume all of them.
Since you happily assume you will be getting 40 Junk Fighters No we have money, you are broke ! Then buying a brand new fighter is not same as turning an ancient bush war gun into a 21st century air defence system. How many of the Oerlikon remain in service? Many destroyed by enemy, many unserviceable after 30 years, many written off. Show us numbers, NAF said 25-40 JF-17, now show us SANDF numbers scheduled for Oerlikon upgrade to CRAM....we are waiting.... . |
