andrewza: show proof that nigeria paid doubel to get wepaon sytems, because pic of Nigerian cobras in Malil dont have any thing above MGs. Not to mention the copany that makes the cobra dose not make those wepaons, so unless you can proof it dont show how foolish you are.
i quote the price nigerian army paid for its 204 cobra fighting vehicles to get extra hardware and weapons for anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, we paid almost double of normal price for each cobra.

now that i prove it, i show you that the a civilian working as research support staff in a privately owned defence company is better in military affairs than a south african navy soldier like you alcohol drunkard @andrewza coetze.

with the way i proved you wrong on this post, i should have retaliated with worse insults than calling you a FOOL because you have called me a F00L several times this week, but i wont use that word on you. i have decided last month march to stop calling you a F00L as long as i can control my temper, so i decide to rename you as an alcoholic drunkard.

enjoy your new name, my good friend @andrewza, the cook/chef in south african navy, master of military data & photos copy and paste !

andrewza: why would romian build brand new wepaons to sell what they have laying arround
you can phone president of romania and ask him. just dont add your personal bedroom opinion to the wikipedia source.

andrewza: i have yet to see proof of any apr-40 in nigerian servis

nigerian army later purchased many of the new version APR-40 rocket artillery same which romania used to replace the older APR-21 versions. nigerian APR-40 new version has rocket range up to 45km superior to south african rockets 36km. numbers of the nigerian army new APR-40 units not stated by sources.

nigeria has APR-40 artillery rocket and it has far better accuracy than all the old BM-21 GRADS that the other african countries use. an MLRS can be a very useless weapon if accuracy is poor.

my full quote from wikipedia

Romania

APRA-40, a Romanian variant of the Grad, and a 6-rocket launcher.

APR-21 (aruncator de proiectile reactive – rocket launcher): Romanian 21-round launcher (3 rows of 7) mounted on a Bucegi SR-114 four-by-four chassis. No longer used by the Romanian Army but some vehicles have been exported to Nigeria and Croatia. Morocco has the launch pack mounted on a Kaiser M35 truck.

APR-40: Initially this designator was used for the original BM-21 "Grad" in Romanian service, but Aerostar SA has developed an improved model, based on a DAC-665T six-by-six truck. A slightly improved model, called APRA-40 or 40 APRA 122 FMC is based on the DAC 15.215 DFAEG truck. Each launcher is normally accompanied by a re-supply truck MITC with a 6t crane and a trailer RM13. The system is also used by Botswana, Bosnia, Cameroon, Croatia, Iran, Iraq, Liberia and Nigeria.

andrewza: Fas majorty is obosolity.

It a fact live with it. You have about 100 good IFV/APC (the cobra is not classfied has a APC). Of your tanks 276 need to be uppgraded or replecset. (There is a nice T55 upgrade, makes it in to a real beast. The vickers should be replaset with T72 or simmlar tank maybe the type 85.

The swing fire is out dated and not a threat. Replase with milane ot russian AGM.
Blowpipe and SA-7 are no threat for current gen anti missel sytems.
Should I go on. We in SA know we have outdated wepaons and have projects to replacse them.

you avoided the part where that source says :

dont twist wikipedia information, it says romania exported APR-21 rocket artillery to nigeria, it did NOT say second hand sales of used ones.

try to be a little bit honest mr @andrewza.

nigerian army 77 units T-72 main battle tanks are all upgraded to T-72BM version, do we need to repeat old posts and waste time ?

cobra is not APC, according to you ? maybe your children told you cobra is a name of a snake in the bush and not an army vehicle.

i quote cobra information you can google.

The Cobra vehicle forms a common platform which can be adapted for various roles and mission requirements including : Armoured Personnel Carrier, Anti-Tank Vehicle, Reconnaissance Vehicle, Ground Surveillance Radar Vehicle, Forward Observation Vehicle, Armoured Ambulance, Armoured Command Post, turreted vehicle for 12.7mm machine gun, 20mm cannon, anti-tank missiles such as the TOW missile/Spike missile or surface-to-air missiles.

weblink source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otokar_Cobra

the above tells you all cobra can carry anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles because its built multi-role and can have weapons changed easily for new type of combat. nigerian army bought over 200 cobras with many extra hardware and weapons for changing over to various types of combat roles. nigerian army paid about double the normal price for each of our cobras because we bought many extra hardware/weapons to perform various types of multi-role combat, same thing iraq had to pay for their second batch cobras, double of normal price.

apart from blowpipe, SA-7, swingfire, there are other modern missiles in nigerian army for anti-tank and anti-aircraft they dont display in photographs or in public, if you like you believe, if you wish dont believe, who cares what you believe ? nobody cares.

its a free world. anybody can choose to believe whatever they wish in this world...but you cannot change the real truth.

andrewza: the BTR3 come in such small numbers. Nigeria needs over 200 BTR3s not less than 50.

nigeria is locally producing new heavy weapons, we dont want to become permanent buyer of weapons. we are reverse engineering a lot of weapons we have just like China did and became great.
we buy a moderate number and we dis-assemble and re-assemble them to see the engineering secrets. thats what we did to austria/german Steyr APC to produce nigerian Igirigi APC from its basics.

nigerian airforce did same thing to our chinese F-7 jets, we dis-assembled and re-assembled the jets in nigeria to see all its technical secrets, same way china did to russian mig-21 jets to produce f-7 jets. we will do the same thing to chinese modern L-15 falcon light attack jets when we get them, nigeria has future plans to be a great heavy weapons producer in our own nigerian factories.

nigerians are smarter than you think.

igirigi APC is being developed into various version, anti-tank missile IFV, anti-aircraft missile mobile Air defence vehicle, just needs some time as nigerian defence industry grows fast and advanced

andrewza: The fast majorty of the Nigerian milltary is out dated.
you say majority of nigerian army weapons outdated ?

about 300 cobra and VBL purchased around 2006
about 45 sandcat MRAPS purchased 2013
about 100 BTR-3U and MT-LB purchased around 2006
many romanian artilery purchased around 2006
about 120 mowags and BTR-80 purchsed around 2006
about 200 mountain lions MRAPS purchased 2013
....and many i dont need to count, and many more on order paid for and soon to be delivered...

how many brand new combat vehicles did south african army buy in the last 7 years ?

over 1,000 very modern army combat vehicles from 2006 to 2013 purchased into nigerian army and you call us outdated !

@andrewza did your your e.nemy mix some a.cid chemicals into the 12 bottles of beer you drank today ?

andrewza: Fist we never siad they did not have AGMs. Second. What missiel they firing. Your link dose not mention the purches of any new AGMs. Nigeria needs over 200 BTR3s not less than 50.
so the source needs to count how many rounds of ammunition, shells, missiles, spare parts, gallons of fuel, water in the engine radiator, food for the vehicle operators/drivers, etc that came with the weapons ? did any source count how many anti-tank missiles came with nigerian air force Mi-35 Hind helicopter gunships too ?

you drink your weekend alcohol to overdose ? grin

its nothing special, likely to get captured by nigerian army in real battle when we disarm and handcuff the cowardly south african army. many african countries have all kinds of UAV.

only nigeria has USV for its navy sea drone force in the whole of africa. no need for me to repeat my post on nigerian UAV and USV drones.

did you meet the chief of army staff of nigeria to our armoury for you to confirm which model of BTR-3U nigeria has ?

you see, i dont care what source you choose to quote among the two above, i dont care the name you choose to call the diffeerent models of nigerian army BTR-3U fighting vehicles, my point is they all have anti-tank guided missiles to destroy south african olifant battle tanks, we just waste your army.

this thread is no longer the early pages where you south africans laugh at nigerian military weapons like T-55 tanks, Vickers Tanks, NNS Aradu, etc and call them old weapons. now we are posting nigerian military weapons that are modern technology from year 2000 to year 2013.

like those nigerian army mobile rocket launchers APRA 122 FMC we just bought recently from romania, very modern weapons, nigerian army purchased two different models and the second model is more sophisticated and among the most modern rocket artillery launchers in the world today.

all4naija: The statement in bold only speaks of your petty view to world politics. Russia gas reserve and oil together is by far larger and richer than Iran's yet they are behind Iranian nuclear facilities. You seem to be very silly to think Russians would reject a multi-billion dollars(coming from oil) project to build nuclear facilities in Nigeria because they have larger reserve. It is clear testament to your shallow perception of how the present world operates.

Keep dreaming that Russia will save your sorry a$$ from Nigeria because they are in some kind of economy block with your country. For such you think they will reject such multi-billion contract is like waiting for Christ to come and solve human problems..

all4naija: What is Nigeria business with SA having Russians or Chinese as allies? You forgot money matters much in how much those two nations will respond to the transfer of Nuclear weapon technology. You soon forget the reason Iranian government is so pompous about acquiring nuclear weapons is for the simple reason it has the mechanism to fund them. You wouldn't be surprised when the two allies of SA will disappoint your country sorry a$$ when huge fund start flowing into their various pockets. Keep thinking those nations have SA at heart. The truth is that they are for their own self-interest. You country palling with them will not deter them from passing the technology to Nigeria if Nigerian government is ready to acquire by systematically tantalizing them with oil money.

SA can't be trusted. That is a complete fact. Without the like of Boko Haram it goes about suppressing neighboring countries with its economic power. That alone push for the need for Nigeria to acquire Nuclear Weapons. So, that at the end if they misbehaved or try to treat other African nations bad we will warn them by launching a missile into the sea, as being the bigger bro.

The 7 nukes SA gave up in the past are elementary and no having a long range launching capability. So that is something of the past. Before SA can acquire nuclear weapons in this present time it will take them lots of time as there is no agreement between the white people economic superiority and the black government. That country has a lot of internal disturbances to grapple with as well, before coming here to make it looks as if there is no problem in your society.
relax bro, Nigeria is already negotiating details with Russia for nuclear reactor capable of producing nuclear weapons, and the Nigerian space satellite launcher trajectory at Epe town in Lagos city is being modified to launch intercontinental ballistic missiles which can later be structured to carry nuclear warheads. relax my fellow Nigerians, your military power will never disappoint you by the grace of God. Amen !

Second no one would trust nigeria with a nuke. You may collaps in to civil war(a real one not this bh or mend thing, break up or loose it.

Thirdly sa built 7 nukes and gave them up. The plant where they where built is still in use. We could build one in a few months if there was a need.

Only 40 of them have the 30mm and AGM tuuret 7 are armend with 14.5mm MGs

And of the 40 U models only 30 are IFV with 4 recoane and 6 K models. It realy funny how this infomatsion was neglited.

my source is sweden arms/weapons sales/transfer log/database SIPRI and it says,

nigerian army has 40 BTR-3U Guardian infantry fighting vehicles and 7 more as APC version

Ukraine
R: Nigeria 7 BTR-3 APC 2005 2007 7

your own source is probably from wikipedia.

your real intention is to say nigerian army BTR-3U fighting vehicles have no anti-tank missiles but i will prove you very wrong now. be ready for some morning education, back to school you south african soldier @ndrewza and let
this civilian teach you and your brother @DictatorZAR.

your alcohol soaked minds did not tell you the information below, @andrewza and @Dictator ZAR, it took me hours to compile this post and educate you two alcoholic drunkards, you two drunken time wasters !

available information source says all version can change the size of the guns/cannon and also carry anti-tank

missiles.
weblink source http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/detail.asp?armor_id=401

nigeria is not stupid to waste money buying 47 units of BTR-3U with ordinary guns when nigerian army already has over 250 Steyr APC locally assembled in nigeria and about 300 Cobra and VBL IFV from turkey and france. only a FOOLISH army will waste its money to buy many units of a 2006 Heavy and Tracked IFV armed with and ordinary gun like a toy or like a world war II generation weapon.

The BTR-3U is fitted with the one-person KBA-105 "Shkval" unified fighting module which can accommodate 30mm gun, 7.62mm coaxial machine gun, 30mm automatic grenade launcher and anti-tank guided weapons.

BTR-3U armoured fighting vehicle which nigerian army has 47 units has standard weapons and they are all made to carry anti-tank guided missiles to destroy enemy heavy tanks.

this is the standard BTR-3U weapons from the manufacturer freely available on two internet sources wikipedia and also on military factory website links below :

This module was developed by the State Scientific Technical Centre of Artillery & Rifle Arms of Ukraine. The Shkval fighting module design is very flexible, which makes it possible to easily replace an existing weapon with another one.

(1) The 30 mm dual-feed cannon has 350 rounds of ready-use ammunition.

(2) A total of 2,500 rounds are carried for the 7.62mm coaxial machine gun.

(3) The 30 mm grenade launcher is mounted on the left side of the turret, having 29 rounds of ready-use ammunition, with additional 87 rounds being carried in reserve (three magazines, each containing 29 rounds).

(4) Six 81 mm electrically operated smoke/aerosol grenade launchers are mounted three either side of the turret rear and firing forwards.

(5) The sighting systems include a commander’s 1PZ-3 observation periscope and a TKN-4S Agat stabilised sight which is integrated with the missile fire control system.

weblink source : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTR-3

all BTR-3U turret/gun is designed as a modular/changeable weapon to fit various types of combat operation needs. basic armament fittings combine machine guns, cannon, grenade launchers and guided anti-tank missile launchers.

weblink source http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/detail.asp?armor_id=401

Nigerian army has 47 units of this very modern BTR-3U armoured vehicles purchased from ukraine around year 2006 and they have guided anti-tank missiles to destroy all south african army olifant armoured tanks in a few minutes of battle.

south african army has NO such vehicle purchased as anti-tank IFV from year 2006, whatever they have is much older technology or still on order and testing stage not yet in service, so they envy nigerian army and fear how the nigerian army will use its missiles to wipe out and destroy all south african army refurbished olifant tanks.

DictatorZAR: Now who rated Ethiopia second in Africa because looking at there forces they lack a serious of capabilities, like no Navy and inadequate military health service, same as Nigeria(interms of military health service)

Lastly the lack of a Navy in Ethiopia is a great disability because modern navies uses there navies to deploy ICBM's and can attack ground targets deep in a country by only using its airforce for recon and target acquisition, and then later for direct infantry support.
So I don't believe in the hype
F00L , south africa has no ICMB long range missiles to hit ethiopia, and ethiopia is so far away from the ocean your navy ships need to enter persian gulf which is EEZ territory of the middle east arab nations and they will sink your warships if you enter their waters they see you as a stranger and a threat ! you F00L !

I can remember vividly arguing that nigeria were getting the 24 L-15 trainers but your comrades refuted saying it was a lie, now deliveries have started alongside "II-76 aircraft, 24 units of j-10B, 24 units of JF-7A's, 2 units of Mi-26TB, 3 UNITS of Ka-60/64, 10 units of Mi-17-iv, 2 units of Mi-17-ivA, 4 units of Ka-29TB, 24 units of Mi-35M, 6 UNITS OF Ka-26 etc . . . .
Please to verify this do check janes aprill 2013 updated inventory or most importantly Z9.invisionfree military acquistions thanks.
invisionfree website is VERY CONFUSING and I have stopped using it because people mix reality with ideas.

You get a lot of correct military information but the posters also mix it with their own personal ideas and it's hard to separate their reality from ordinary ideas and wishes.

Best sites are army recognition, military technology, naval recognition, and Wikipedia. If I remember the others I will post the website names.

for nigerian weapons and military , beegeagle blog is also good.

andrewza: What. You really asking that qustion. You sure you work in the deffense industry.
Yes I work in the industry and I don't judge weapons carelessly. I noticed something technical about BTR -3U and I don't want to jump to conclusion about the weapon because it's a confusing product and we all don't have direct access to its manufacturer in Ukraine.

I have my own facts ready, but I need my laptop to post after closing from office late evening.

andrewza: You don't have the gaurdian turret. Only UAE operators nigeria all so has only 47 BTR3U or 1 battlion.
Have you seen anything to prove that BTR U3 Guardian has special turret ? Also where do you see information that one version of BTR U3 IFV is better armed than another version of it ? Big questions for you to answer.

DictatorZAR: Why don't you read the links we've made in previous pages on that matter. Like I said before whenever a Nigerian boy feels inferior when been confronted on subject matters you resort to name calling and nation bashing. This has become typical of you.

Go back 50-100 pages and start reading I'm tired of re posting old things to ease your ego.

Mr analyst my foot go try this sh*it on a tree huggertongue
there no nairaland post with weblink source to prove nigerian army r.aped any women during foreign peace keeping missions, @andrewza tried that lie and we challenged him to post source and he could not find any source.

the father of all liars is the devil and he carries a south african citizenship/passport ID

DictatorZAR: By the way your soldiers have not even covered themselves in glory and has been accused of numerous rap*e and indiscriminate killings from Sierra Leone to even Liberia. Military deployments the world over has a agenda no one can dispute that fact.
post weblink source to prove your claims about nigeria or else you become a high level F00L and BUFFOON for ever !

Thiza: Some cannot fanthom the truth....cut and paste remains the truth since most comes from Nigerian press. Why when confronted with facts many resorts to insults and some narrow nationalistic patriotic vitrolics.

Nigeria has had its own embarrassments and casualties in peacekeeping operations....why mow create a falls fallacy? Nigeria military procument is a new buzz word. Three years ago Nigeria ARMY was more of a militia rag tag army than a proffessional outfit and thanx to Boko HARAM the Defence budget was increased.

you posted many long stories about Nigeria with no single web link source to prove any truth in them. Are you mentally s.ick ?

no wonder people call you 'Thiza copy and paste '..... you are brain D.ead !
