dillon7: I cannot comment on the various militaries in Africa, however, I can say that everything depends on the orders given and the type of leader the troops have if your leader can't motivate you would you want to fight? I wouldn't. You can have a troop of 20 men and you could destroy an army of 200 depending on the training, equipment, experience and leadership. Another factor to take into account is pschycological warfare if there are children fighting are you not going to hesitate?people should stop claiming that CAR seleka rebels are child soldiers, how can they use 1,000 children to attack a south african army of 200 t0 400 ? see photos of seleka rebels below, they are young and grown up able bodied men and the south african army did NOT hesitate to shoot and kill these rebels in combat stop making false excuses of child soldiers rebels for south african army's failure in CAR war, the south africans have incompetent and grossly over-rated military forces and thats the truth. if you care to know, poor under-fed hungry africans look like age 15 years when the are already age 21 years due to poor quality of food and low standard of living, the CAR seleka rebels are majorly a force of adults aged well over 18 years standard for war. the rebels defeated south african army and took over south african army combat vehicles and drove them around town to show the whole world that south africa has fallen in battle. .

andrewza: Valour/type056 need to remind you that nigerian type 056 warship is year 2013 technology, while south african valour is 2006 technology, a gap of 7 years. we cannot decide on internet here which warship will win a battle when they both meet in real war, not photo/data analysis on nairaland. real military men know that the real test of any weapon is in real war. south africa just learned this lesson in CAR by the hands of rebels (i hope they really learnt the lesson by experience) i dont need to repeat again that warships dont win battle because of hull size or traveling fuel range or number of crew on board. a ship sinks another ship only with the guns and missiles it fires. much of the winner will depend on the ships captains in command. try to read history of naval sea combat ship vs ship. the captain's intelligence and skill will determine the winner when two ships with the same weapons clash for war. nigerian navy officers have trained in the best military academies of the world and also practice with the bests top 5 world navies. we just ended a war game with Spain's navy last month. we do a lot with indian navy, and nigerian navy personnel are in pakistani navy now for submarine training even though we dont have one, nigerian navy is training with pakistani navy submarines. nigerian navy has very well trained officers and men. "Type 056 corvette also features strong electromagnetic compatibility and a wide application of advanced technologies." weblink source : http://www.naval-technology.com/news/newschina-navy-receives-first-type-056-jiangdao-class-frigate i am sure the chinese navy did not email details of the ships technology to your inbox, or did they ? the best navy is the most balanced navy with both powerful deep water ships and shallow water ships, and in africa only the nigerian navy has that excellent balance. what is the use of a navy with major strength in deep waters of the ocean? deep ocean is no man's land by international law, ruling those waters is a waste of time in this modern times. any nation that disrupts international shipping in deep ocean waters will be attacked by united nations task force to save world economy's import/export shipping business. nigeria is okay with the two incoming new Type 056 light frigates 95m and the new two or four incoming Pipav frigates 110m (cash already paid for first two ships), beacuse international law says every nations territorial waters is only 22km away from its coast out into the sea. google it and confirm the ocean territory law. as long as nigerian navy can take care of its territorial waters from coast to ocean limit 22km, no problem. nigerian navy's coming type 056 light frigate has range of 3,700km and 20 days endurance enough to sail the whole distance of west african coast, and nigeria's bigger Pipav built frigates will have range of about 6,000km to sail down to south africa's cape town ! what else are we looking for ? have you observed that nigerian type 056 ship has more torpedoes than the south african valour ship ? the type 056 is built with extra focus on anti-submarine capability to protect china from american navy threats in south china sea. nigerian navy also paid for two new and bigger frigate warships with open order for four warships in total, and these are similar to russian tiger class stealth frigates. full weapons details still not released to public by nigerian navy HQ, but it is confirmed a Indian clone of Russian Tiger Class frigates, and much of its building will be sub-contrated to other countries probably including australia for stealth capabilities. Typical Tiger warships have size 110m and with more missiles and bigger more powerful longer range 100mm gun than south african valour frigates 76mm gun, plus 6 anti-submarine missiles and 8 anti-submarine torpedoes putting all south african submarines in very great d.anger. These are similar to the American RAM anti-missile missile system, except that they come in a 24 missile launcher. FL-3000N was only introduced in year 2010 and very modern. nigeria is buying two type 056 warships for its navy, so your south african navy is going to face a very very modern nigeria navy stealth warship, NOT NNS Aradu and NNS Thunder. nigerian navy will be a more powerful force in africa when those new stealth warships arrive it will also be the most balanced naval force in africa with combination of world class 300 vessels massive and modern brown water force that egypt, algeria, south africa CANNOT match in any way. nigerian navy has the the largest and most modern brown water navy in the world, even america CANNOT beat us in that aspect of vessel types. i have googled USA, Russia, China, and all major brown water navy forces in the world, NONE can challenge nigerian navy. In the 2007-2009 epoch, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in a bid to improve maritime security in the oil-producing Niger Delta, bankrolled the acquisition of over 225 new additional river patrol boats and landing craft in a deal with the Suncraft Group-Strategic Marine partnership of Singapore and Australia. NNS thunder is no frigate despite its size 115m TYPE 056 is light frigate based on its anti-ship/submarine/aircraft ability,and on board helicopter despite its size 95m the type 056 weapons and ECM are about equal to the valour frigate, gun size, missiles, and all. only real war can prove a winner between them. a valour frigate is in great danger facing a type 056 light frigate, the type 056 missiles can sink an aircraft carrier, but NN thunder is no threat. update your knwoledge from this quote below and dont confuse other people here : "Corvettes are fast (around 25 knots or better), well-armed ships that displace between 700 and 2000 tons. andrewza: though there is nothing wrong with it, if i was desghing it i would make a few changes, based on SA experiance with these types of small wheeled APCs.so nigeria's military ranking should go up in africa, thats why i put us ahead of ethiopia in my review, we have more modern army equipments and weapons manufacturing industry than ethiopia, and nigeria is growing fast buying modern weapons from all over the world at an alarming rate. |

It doesn't make any sense to go about invading other peoples privacy.thanks i have removed my post of his photo and 'data' and i also apologized. i think @andrewza pushed @patriot4 to the wall with his thinking or lack of thinking, such that the guy wanted to sniff out who he really was. i will be honest with you all, since the day i was born, i have NEVER met any human being that thinks like @andrewza, his comments many times shows he does not think or he does not want to think. it may be a medical issue, i guess, so i stopped insulting him even when he provokes me. he has Dyslexia, but he didnt tell us early enough. he also didnt tell us he is white until last week. i have decided to be tolerant of him because of the medical disclosure. maybe it affects his thinking once in a while because he just writes posts/comments that can drive people nuts. very annoying comments. imagine his comment on nigerian navy new type 056 light frigate, even when i posted web sources that it is technically a light frigate based on weaponry,functions,and manufacturer' specifications, and with english dictionary definitions of warships types, he still said its a orvette not light frigate. very annoying. same way he said south african navy can challenge USA navy with valour class frigates that the americans will sink in one hour. the south african GV6 gun has manufacturer tested maximum range of 73km, he claimed it is 100km, crazy like a ballistic missile ! he said his source is guinness books of record and he couldnt quote it to prove and is still adamant on it. @andrewza can be very annoying, and he gets worse by the day, almost becoming like @snydergp his strange ways made the france guy sniff him out on facebook. |
