Bwahahahahaha… To complete an ISTAR with visuals, one has to take that risk. Those cams cannot perform the magic of taking visuals hundreds of kilometres away. Your luxurious ATR42 will never stand a fighter jet, that is why is escorted by defence fire. It will not do such against SANDF which is a well equipped with powerful fighters. It will kiss the ground sooner than expected.

Your ATR is just only as good as patrolling pirates in the sea.
ATR-42 Long range TV cameras with magnification of images you dummy grin grin

I forgot that you have English comprehension problems....do you know the meaning of image magnification lens ? No, you don't.

Even American and British ISTAR aircraft will be escorted by jet fighters if their is enemy air to air threat.

ATR-42 has anti-missle defense countermeasures.

NAF F-7 jets will face your Gripen jets and trust NAF has an edge with ATR-42 mini AWACS role, the 407 km radar has air to air mode and the Gripen will be detected before the Gripen detects the ATR-42.

We act before you, the ATR-42 monitors the entire battle space and we see your Gripens before they see our ISTAR and interceptors

LOL, I thought you were an air force man, or are you a toilet cleaner in SAAF ? You can't even figure out a battle scenario grin grin

Data link is far more important since it communicate with all platforms at the same time.
Data link CANNOT communicate information that has NOT been first detected by ISTAR you fool !

You ever seen a computer doing data processing before data gathering ? Mumu, Southie universities cannot teach you basics of data processing.

grin grin

I have only said that it will be useless to survey the battle field over 400 km since you will not be getting any visuals. ISTAR does not require only signals but visuals as well for target acquisition purposes. Then if you do it only with your radars it will not be a complete ISTAR. Your luxurious wasful expenditure will unfortunately have to come to the battle ground in order to survey it in details. Doing it 400 kms away will not help you fool.
Fool, ATR-42 is a long range ISTAR platform, it does NOT fly into battlefield if their is capable threat. Yet ATR-42 Surveyor has anti-missile self defences, chaff/flare counter measures, and anti-jamming devices.

NAF ATR-42 does not use only radar you M0R0N, it has long range TV camera with magnification lens to video watch the battlefield from a safe distance beyond reach of enemy air defences, and if need be it can be escorted by jet fighters to stop enemy jets in the air.

No country in the world flies ISTAR aircraft into battle theatre of air to air threats without escort by fighter jets. You are a domingo block head.

SANDF/SAAF does not have any ISTAR aircraft with long range TV camera for visuals of battlefield from same distance, you will never understand ISTAR until 50 million South Afrivans raise funds via bank loan to buy one of Nigeria's type of aircraft shocked shocked

You see now you are the most controversial element on Nairaland. You should be offered an award for that category. The 330km ground search radar range was confessed out of your own mouth and now it has suddenly changed.

Why do you always want to remain an "X" which will always have to be solved on Nairaland.
ATR-42 Surveyor radar range is 407 km.....that's confirmed now.

Live with it.....oh ! You are afraid of the African king of radars ? Cool.

Trust me, I don't make claims without evidence. It's 407 km radar on NAF ATR-42 just confirmed.

We enjoy the fear and terror Nigerian ISTAR gives 50 million South Africans tongue tongue

We are talking about NAF not PAF.

Pakistan operates upgraded variants of that jet.

"standard multi-role fighters built for interceptor/strike role" what does this even mean? grin grin grin grin
Means you are too dull to understand basic terminology.

All F-7 jets are built for multi-role, interceptor and strike roles combined....including NAF F-7NI jets.

"The J-7 has been designed to perform ground attack missions in all weather conditions."

The problem with the current Russian jets is their engines and maintenance cycles. The modified soviet era engines are problematic look at India's SU-30MKI fleet.
Indian local industry input in manufacture and inadequate maintenance can be a cause for Indian Su-30 MKI crashes.

China flies 100 units of Su-30 MKK and have very very rare crash incidents.

American and European jets are crashing more than the Russian jets. F-16, F-18, F-15, Tornado, and new generation 4 Eurofighter Typhoons have crashed, then the new thriller...5 Rafale jets have crashed in 5 years

We are talking about Nigeria not the "can't-fight PAF".

Pakistan has various upgraded versions of the F-7.
All F-7 jets are standard multi-role fighters built for interceptor/strike role. The link I posted is general info for all F-7, not NAF alone.

Various systems can be used to collect intelligence. Including signal interception and cameras.

The F-7 is an interceptor! Nothing more!
F-7 jet of PAF and BAF carry air to surface guided weapons for ground attack, and recce pod for surveillance.

That's multi-role. F-7 jet is an interceptor and strike fighter http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=1052

English is my first language, dummy and it is your second language, you black tire.

I spoke of survey first. I repeat, I said your luxurious aircraft cannot SURVEY a contested battle ground. Go and look at my post again you black tire.
Insults won't buy you ISTAR aircraft overnight.

I have always called ATR-42 the mighty Surveyor on this forum since one year ago, I used the word before you.

My reference is to your second post, you said visuals, because you thought radar gives visuals at close range. I educated you that radar gives signals not visuals, be grateful, Malay Pig, say thank you to Nigerians who open your tiny Pig eyes grin grin

Here is our posts to pull all your lies.

radar cannot be used to see visuals of an area 400Km away. To be correct 330 km ground search range away.
Radar will do detection as done by radars. Simple.

ATR-42 radar range is 407 km NOT 330 km.....point of correction....407 km for NAF radar.

Get it right !

as well as Su-30's, JF-17's, ATAK helicopters and dont forget Tucano's

#dreams
#ignorance.

We have educated you many times about Nigerian procurement list and secret proceedures.

Procurement takes time, but NAF has named it`s platforms to be purchased and we have evaluated them.

Tucano was dropped and NAF chose Su-25 Frogfoot Scorpion Variant for COIN, even Janes Defence says so :

http://www.janes.com/article/48842/nigeria-looking-for-more-attack-aircraft

Su-30, JF-17 have been evaluated. Choices will be made, one or both jets.

Nigerian military procurement is covered up in secrecy.

We even see secret new combat helicopters inside NAF base, Eurocopters arrived from France secretly now, it was NEVER announced...

NB: to survey something it means you can as well see it, thus radar cannot be used to see visuals of an area 400Km away. To be correct 330 km ground search range away.
Yes I said survey, NOT visual, I never said visual. The ATR-42 is called Surveyor, so I was VERY CORRECT.

Radar scan mapping to surveying by signals, NOT TV cam visuals.

South African education fails in both English and Geography.....not only Maths and Science grin grin

You thought radar is like the eyes that visualizes objects until Nigerian education showed you that radar works by signals.

It seems as if you do not understand your wasteful expenditure well.
You keep sying Nigeria wasted money on ISTAR like ATR-42, yet South African air force chief of staff was crying and begging ANC government for money to buy ordinary Beechcraft ISTAR that NAF has been using for years, yet Pretoria government keeps saying no money.

I am sure SAAF is ready to buy NAF aircraft second-hand on credit if we allow your cash-broke SANDF to tender for sale on credit
