- Prof. Barth Nnaji (Power)
- Ngozi Okonji Iweala(Finance)
- Emeka Wogu (Labour)

Every other persons in that cabinet are just there for numbers sake. They just don't have a clue what they're to do

Where are the major policy pronouncements from Ministers from major Ministries like Education, Works, Health, Agriculture?

@Ben 10,

While you do have a point, please lets be diplomatic and sensitive to other people's feelings. If you where standing in front of the original poster, I am sure you response would have need more tactful. However, this invisible wall called the internet has made us all look callous. The poster has just suffered grief, you should at least empathize.

What is the whole point of post Jamb if a students has to travel mile to write the exam. Kudos to Unilag for making it an online exam, that will ease some of the problems faced by students. There was the case of pre-degree students violated in Ogun state the other day because the school could not provide adequate accommodation and they resorted to renting accommodation themselves. As such, they were exposed to various security threats that culminated in them been robbed and violated.

In that instance would it not be sensible to police schools so that they do not take more students than their capacity?

As for Nysc and the guys looking for to the wages they will collect, I do sympathize with you. The condition of the Nigerian Graduate makes him/her look forward to collecting monthly stipends from the government. In my own opinion, Nysc robs Nigerian graduates of 1-2 years for both the ones that attended and the ones exempted.

If you go for service, Job is not assured, if you dont go, employers will use that to screen, there is problem in the land. However, Nysc is not worth the lives of our graduates. If it was that important, Children of Governors and ministers will post photos and pictures of their adventures in camp and will tell us tales of what happened during their time in service but alas, they are usually smuggled into the system and that is if it becomes absolutely necessary.

I hope some of you will not be sent to Borno because you find N19,000 a month alluring. Nysc is a waste of time. It is the day you are passing out that you will realise that there are better ways to spend one year.

Thank you.
so only people who are going for post Jamb dey die, dat one no be excuse. Ok if to say she no been dey go for post JAMB when the accident happen wetin you for talk? what about the students wey die for SOSOLISO plane crash? make dem scrap the school?

Why are people displaying their ignorance about vocational schools? which functioning vocational school do we have in Nigeria? in fact some people's level of ignorance never cease to amaze me, how can you equate the current educational system to vocational school?
who displayed ignorance? you are the one displaying ignorance my brother. Some vocational schools i know in bayelsa and rivers state:
1 - Government technical school (GTS) at trans-amadi area port harcourt (Welding, Applied Mech, Technical Drawing, Draftsmanship, Woodwork, etc) and qualifications are used for admission into polythechnics and universities Government

2 - Crafts Development Center along Aba Road port harcourt, same as above but with specialised welding -ARC, Pipe Welding, Structural Welding, Woodwork, etc.

3 - Government Technical School at Tombia, Akukutoru or Asaritoru LGA, same as 1 above

4 - Government Sea School Isaka Port Harcourt or Okirika LGA for seamanship, ship maintenance, diving, maritime rescue, etc.

and almost all local government area in old rivers state some good school created

my school government comprehensive secondary school, borikiri, port harcourt one of the best government school in port harcourt no private to compare.

blame the principals and teachers in this schools for thiefing all the equipment and selling to others

ask anybody you know in port harcourt or rivers state to confirm for you.

Education › Re: We Need Vocational Secondary Schools In Nigeria. by agitator: 7:23am On Aug 18, 2011
there are comprehensive secondary schools, craft centers and technical secondary schools, that take care of all you have mentioned, but problem is most are living in past glory as machinery, etc are obsolete or bad. No replacement plan. In my school we did woodwork, automech, applied electricity, home economics (preparing chin-chin, cakes, sewing-needle/machine, etc), typewriting & shorthand, FineArts (drawing, pottery, designing artistic objects with waste paper, sea shells), etc, plus all the regular secondary school subjects (sciences, arts, etc). when you get to higher class (class3) then you specialised, science, arts, technical, commercial, or combinations such as arts/commercial, science/technical, science/arts, etc

It was out of the
razznaija:
I think that we need schools that teach secondary school students trades in Nigeria, ??
This was the main reason for changing the school from the previous 6-5-4 system to 6-3-3-4 system

the former was 6-years compulsory primary, 5-years secondary school, then 4-years university,

and the later is 6-years compulsory primary, 3-years compulsory Junior secondary, 3-years senior secondary, 4-years university.

As a result of these compulsory introductory technology, business studies, and fine Arts were to be taught at JSS level and equipments were imported, ironically these equipments imported by the government couldn't be cleared at the ports where most were stolen and others rotted.

and with the lumping of the subjects the comprehensive secondary schools like the one i attended became useless.

Serendipity:
After all these white papers, calling of answers to the students, high malpractices and what have you, it yet brought a dismal picture.
Methinks this year's exam was flunked not largely by the students but their teachers and mercenaries. Because, if most of the exams answers were written by the teachers and mercenaries, it then means that they must have written gibberish as evidenced by the colossal failure.
One at the cyber cafe the other day was praising himself and luxuriating in the fact that he wrote the whole thing immediately and circulated it in the hall.
I dare even say, that the slight improvement might have been occasioned by WAEC's leniency in marking or the hue and cry about the derelict state of our Education Sector.
Very rueful,
Which teachers are you referring to? The ones whose gained admission into the University/College of Education through runs? or the ones who took up teaching as the only option available to keep body and soul together?
