The 'Third Class' pass, enter politics and become Ministers and control both. Last, but not the least, The 'Failures' join the underworld and control all the above.

^^^ see how things are done in Nigeria. Reference: Sure you don't but who does the vetting and how possibly they are hand in glove, can be infiltrated or can be faked determines how far the perps can go. The figure reported if true is not one 'eaten' by one man alone. 3.5 billions pigs is not cash register stuff. The Siemens saga went to the very top, the Presidency. It could be the deal was pseudo-real and someone balked at the sharing money stage.
It was reported on another thread that a fellow died stuffed full of drugs. He passed through our ports and perhaps could have made it at the other end. Such is the vetting process for deals in Nigeria. Its a cat and mouse, high wire, high stakes game conducted many times not in official premises but in secret hotel meetings at the dead of night. They want a seal of approval they call the DG or MD to meet them in one top class hotel room and when he gets there and sees the calibre of folks he promptly signs and collects his envelope. These guys can do things you'd simply be amazed.
Talk of any massive contract of late, privatizations, allocations, and the lot. Papers for those are not signed in offices and are not seriously vetted. There is always some vested interest. What I think may have happened is that the team probably took its eye of the ball and forgot to see the EFCC before the investor did.
However how the EFCC handled it was not right. They should have at least laid an ambush and even though they probably would have seen the unclothedness of the king so be it. Just keep the files for the rainy day. There is surely more than meets the eye. If we don't hear anything about it again then its more official than we think. |

@OP, the igbos have already answered you Tsun: Ohh plzz lets hear a word!!! If you dont have money to take care of a woman, you can go and hang yourself on a transformer, Abi una no wan spend money before. @poster you said your brother, has an igbo chic he wants to marry but because of the money involved he's about changing his mind, BREAKING NEWS!!! Tell your brother he is not in love with the chic, or else common sense should have told him to go and meet with the in-law to be and discuss how they can help him out in the trad. Abeg make una no dey fall my hand again, you should have money ZE: there is a general saying in Igbo Land !!
if bride prize prevent a man from marrying a woman of his choice in Igbo Land it means that the man is not yet ready for marriage.
Marriage in Igbo land is serious business. its not marrying today and separate tomorrow.
a real igbo woman marries one man i her life time(except death)
in cultures where most women marries up to 4 or 5 husbands in her life time, their men knows it will be a waste of time spending money when taking a wife. knowing fully well that the woman can wake up tomorrow morning and pack her loads to another man's house.
my point is if a man want to buy pure water or groundnut, =N=5 is enough.
Marriage cost more than N5 in igbo land. if u no get liver !! gerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooout If he can't foot the high bill then he is not ready. Confirmation of your brother's fears Obiagu1: The first question your bro should ask himself is whether he could afford his kids school fees. If the answer is 'No', then he should go and work harder before he could think of marrying an Igbo girl.
Once he can afford his kids school fees, then he can equally afford a traditional marriage. Final conclusion. What more does he want to hear. The real igbos have spoken. Case closed. |

deadie: WTF? $3.5bn USD? Chei, aru eme! One guyman is very mad at EFCC. But on a serious note, if that company was duped of the $3.5 bn, then they deserved it. Who would want to invest that kind of money over the internet without visiting the company? Some du.mb phuck I guess. My brother that is how business is done in Nigeria. For instance "Agitator knows someone close to the President, State Governor, LG Chairman, etc. He/She gets the presidents, etc consent and a contract is awarded and the job is done or not done. Cash is paid. Everybody involved in the deal smiles to the bank. case closed. When some of us condemn and complain that the Nigerian business environment is not favourable, countless others will tell you how foreign companies and some individuals are raking in millions of dollars, operating in the same system. So any sharp(crooked) businessman knows doing business in Nigeria is a gamble. you win some you lose some. |

some posters are just voicing their fears because of the benefits they have been receiving from the criminals in power.
like an igbo proverb says "old women are always afraid when dry bones are mentioned in a story"
some laws for the untouchables and another set for the common criminals.
No wonder people who steal less then 1,000 naira will be executed immediately by the masses and those that steal billions are worshiped by same masses. |

Gbawe: Irrelevant my brother. Point is that OBJ should not concede any refinery to Otedola while other World class refining outfit have signified an interest. This is a direct analogy of why privatization does not work in Nigeria whereas it is superb elsewhere.
Cynical self-interest always leads the President of the day to embrace selfishness . Vodafone has taken over Ghana Telecom. I don't need to show you that Vodafone is a world class outfit . Despite the noise surrounding the deal itself Ghanaians are now better off for having Vodafone around because Vodafone broadband browsing is excellent and comparatively good value .
I can tell you , as someone working with the reality on the ground, indeed what matters to ordinary citizens most , that Vodafone browsing is far better than anything I have experienced in Nigeria. If we had been similarly placed, I will bet that Vodafone would not have emerged as the replacement fo NITEL . Instead it will be some "Rockford telecoms" ( probably a conduit registered yesterday for use by OBJ, GEJ, Anenih and 'awon boys'). good points by Gbawe as usual. Thank you. |

MRbrownJAY: @poster why do you think these men are "scared"?! why didnt you say WISE enough not to fall for the marriage scam, SMART enough to wait for the right person or CONFIDENT enough to be on their own!
here are a few points to consider: - with the amount of gold diggers in 9ja, getting married there would equal to going swimming in a river full of piranhas, expecting to come out alive. what insane person would try that?!
- in today's world (with today's laws), nobody needs to get married to get the PERKS of marriage. is that piece of paper gonna make a man treat that person differently?! if they love/care/respect each other while dating then they will certainly still do after marriage, so what exactly getting married ADDS to a man's life, really?!
- many married men are WORST than dating guys. they lay under the cover of a ring on their fingers to do their evil deeds. is marriage an insurance of faithfulness, respect, care, trust?!
- since polygamy is allowed in 9ja, are married guys really all that better than dating guys in Nigeria?!
- by the look of the many threads about signing a prenup, we can clearly understand why a wealthy man would rather date forever rather than marry someone who EXPECTS to get half his hard earned shiit, if they divorce.
- if anyone believe that only mature guys get married then they surely have a lot to learn. sadly, in 9ja marriage is synonymous with happiness so every kids are brought up to believe that to be happy and successful, a personNEEDS to be married, thus the reason why (as soon as they turn 18) every Dikc, Tom, Mary and Elisabeth will settle for any dumbasss/ashi just to get that Mr/Mrs title.
- the only difference between a married man and one that isn't, is a damn piece of paper.
- some women out there have absolutely NOTHING to offer to a man (wealthy or not) and therefore they will just be a "trophy wife". why should a ABLE BODIED man settle for just ONE trophy?!
- if a woman is unhappy while single (with only ONE goal in life: to get married) then she will surely be an unhappy wife. nothing worse than a partner KILLING YOUR DREAMS!!!
- you dont have to be married to have a supportive caring understanding trustworthy respectful gf (aka baby mama). the lack of tie (aka marriage ring) will have you and her perform at your very BEST forever. . . . . . . . instead of having a partner believe that they dont have to work on your r/ship since they got the ring/prize/title.
- many will have you believe that marriage means RESPONSIBILITY, N O N S E N S E!!!!!!!!! a responsible man is someone who can take care of his life, so if you can take care of your OWN and your GF(s) and kids (while unmarried) then you ARE responsible!!!! dont get it twisted. also, anyone who know what it takes to MAKE MONEY, will also understand that "responsibility" is needed to KEEP THAT MONEY!!
- sadly, many men in 9ja are driven by money, SIMPLY because they believe that it will attract women towards them. so when they make a little something, they spend it all to attract that wifey. that will get them right back to BROKE, and that's when the wifey aka goldigger start acting up, lol! who can blame them?! when the "honey" is gone, the "bee" have no reason to stay! these are just MBJ's views oh!!! thank you for this useful post. |

roy4real: Tambuwal is right! I have always reasoned along his lines. Until most of our leaders begin to develop revolutionary reasoning like him Nigeria will never get there. The west is the architect of our problems yet we still run to them for solutions, why won't they worsen our situation? You may not understand his position unless you take a critical look @ the history of this great nation that is endowed with numerous natural and human resources enough to rule planet earth. Wake up patriotic Nigerians, God has played his part it is left for us to do the rest. why can't some people stop posting crap on nairaland? any way the naira is crap so it isn't strange to see crap post on nairaland. |
