It beats the imagination why government will always take illegal actions like building on a right of way. Seen this scenario in many states and even FCT (Abuja). huh

Since the police can't uphold the law, let the courts be sentencing them to death for any body they murder. this will teach them a lesson.

newmaster:
When invited to make his allocutus after reading the judgment, Folorunsho’s counsel, Mr. A Olagoke told the court "the defendant is a man of about 60 years old and have served this country for about 35 years during which he never received a query or any punishment. He is a family man who believes that life is sacred. Ironically, this led to his present situation. Justice is a three-way traffic: for the victim, the society and for the accused.
He was serving his pocket, not the country. How many civil and public servants ever serve this country?

newmaster:
"The defendant had never shot anyone before the incident in this suit. I believe he has learned his lessons in a very hard way, so also his colleagues who are still in the police force. He has been in detention for over four years. If he is able to go back to the society, he will impart the positive knowledge he has acquired on the society.
It’s now he will learn, but he won’t live to tell the tale.

newmaster:
"The victim cannot return to life. Taking the life of the defendant will not compensate the family of the deceased. I passionately appeal to the court to temper justice with mercy and minimize the sentence due to the defendant. He should be given the opportunity to educate the police from his experience. The society will benefit more from this than from taking his life," Olagoke reasoned.
Counsel to the state who prosecuted the case, Mrs. E. Alakija in her response enjoined the court to allow the law to take its natural course.
The police never have mercy for any body, even if an accused is found innocent. You must cough up money for your bail.

newmaster:
In the course of her decision, Justice Wiliams condemned efforts by the Nigeria Police Service to frustrate the case saying "the defendant’s colleagues who were also eye witnesses to the crime did not attend court to testify. The defendant sought to unsuccessfully cash in on this syndrome which occurred in this trial when he claimed that failure to bring the defendant’s colleagues to testify was fatal to the case of the prosecution. Fortunately in this case, there were other eye witnesses who testified and the intransigence of the police could not defeat the ends of justice."
That is what they always do, even hiding evidence against politicians, in fact highest bidder gets the evidence or evidence is erased.

Most nigerians don't work in jobs they have interest in or are interested in.  Jobs are taken on availability ( based on connection) basis.  So people who really have interest and would have been dedicated don't get the jobs.  Those who get these jobs on connection basis don't have any interest and dedication but are only after the salary they will receive at the end of the month and nothing bothers them

Am I bothered? No I don't. What about the poor masses that lost their lives on Nigeria road everyday on the death trap called road. They hardly made it to newspapers front page.
I support you on this one, these are people who are in position to remedy and right the current situations, and yet when they die through their not doing and standing up for the right, peeps will come here feeling sorry for them. If they value human lives then it's not too difficult to do things the right and safe way.

I want to say something. This is called politics.
Lagos state gave 1 million dollars. Despite  that it was a goodwill gesture, it was out of other.
No state jumps over its federal government on such issues.
Lagos should have consulted the federal government to know their plans before throwing money around.

Japan is thousands of times richer than us.
The donated 5 million dollars. before individual wings come in.

There are also countries that donated nothing.
Its not fair though but sometimes we have to check how the affected country respond to such issues as well before doing anything.

All in All, Lagos state shouldnt have donated that money before federal government.
They now make federal  government look wicked and careless.
Nigeria is in leadership crisis. Everyone including Fashola should be aware of that.

I guess he jumped and donated that money to make himself look very good to ordinary people of Nigeria.
He succeeded but in some World Govt, he could have been suspended from duty.
Just that Nigeria is not working.

Is your thinking warped or outright shallow ! Why bringing political sentiments in to this. SO Lagos state has to wait for directives before they give humanitarian aid to the people of haiti. What nonsense ! !
my bro this is how majority of Nigerians think!!!!!!!!

That was why when the northern states were enacting and passing sharia laws, everybody (even lawyers and political scientist) was expecting the president to give an order to stop or cancel it.   Whereas in a system where things are done normally, all it would have required is for the national assembly to pass a law over-riding these laws or cancelling the loophole in the constitution through which these actions were being taken.

even if a state governor is corrupt, the citizens are expecting the federal government to come and remove or arrest him.  It was because of this type of reasoning that OBJ capitalised on to withold Lagos LGA funds, which ordinarily was wrong.

It shows you the havoc the military rulership system has caused to the nigerian's way of reasoning, because military head of states had control over the military governors, who were accountable report back, they think same should apply in a democratic dispensation.

Majority of Nigerians can't even tell the difference between a military dictator and a democratic civilian government (majority even expected the military leaders to be accountable and consult them before decisions are taken).

How many times has the christians in the southern part of nigeria attacked moslems. Check nigeria's history none. It has always been the other way round. may be you think moslems don't go against christian beliefs in the south or the southerners are afraid of the moslems, see what they do to each other when there is any dispute.  The southerners are not gullible to fight on religious grounds as their northern brothers do

Cheap car from India could cost $8,000 in US

DETROIT (AP) -- The world's cheapest car is being readied for sale in the U.S., but by the time India's Tata Nano is retrofitted to meet emissions and safety standards, it won't be that cheap.

Tata Technologies Ltd., the global engineering arm of the Tata group conglomerate, brought the tiny car to Detroit as a publicity stunt for the engineering group.

,

Before it can be sold here, the car's two-cylinder, 623cc engine would have to be engineered to meet stronger U.S. pollution standards, he said. Airbags would have to be added, the roof strengthened and the front bumper lengthened to meet U.S. requirements to limit damage in a 5-mph crash.

And this car will be sold "as is" in africa , i remember somebody asking about safety of Asian vehicles in one thread and people were ridiculing him.

Those mentioning he should go for medical solution, should know that this guy is a lecturer meaning he is educated. Do you think he has not tried everything possible both medically and traditionally? Most times this things happen to poor girls from the rural communities with limited options. Somebody was mentioning a diploma you think it is easy, like in Europe and the US. There are people who are willing and want to learn welding, carpentry, mechanic, driving, fashion designing (some have the knowledge but no money to buy just one sewing machine to start on their own), etc, but don't have a sponsor to pay just =N=5,000.00 This is the situation on ground in 9ja.

as otukpo said "I pity the poor girl, she is in a very bad situation." i really pity her.

You people are clueless,

He is faultless when he defends and provides a big threat going forward.

None of yesterday's goals were his fault (blaming him for the deflection is silly). It is not the fullback's job to cover center strikers. And Amodu had two DMs to cover for Taiwo when he goes forward. Thats how ALL coaches deal with this. Where were they during the first goal? He never loses out when defending and saved Yobo's and Obinna's backside at least twice yesterday.

Taiwo DOES NOT make NEEDLESS mistakes. Anyone with any Ligue 1 knowledge knows that.

Only in Nigeria would the most classy defender be constantly attacked,
Even Celestine Babayaro was well known for this style of play and you also have other world class defenders with this same style scoring for their various clubs and countries.

abeg ask her for me ooooh. Even confirmed prostitutes, you hardly see the mothers broadcasting that they are such. In fact woe betide you to open you mouth in front of the mother to say her daughter is a prostitute. maybe only 3 out of 10000 mothers will own up to the bad character of their daughters

Some of us are obviously frustrated and hopeless; a very very bad and deadly combo. This combination seems to place us in the darkness of no return.

Hey, Obasanjo is not my cup of tea, but I must give him this one. Yes, he has been very quiet lately, he has done all of us wrong and he's still the bully of all time, but I think he got this one right.
He came out at the right time to say the right thing.

It is sad that our stupidity as citizens has placed most of us into an absurd state of mind, to the point that basic thinking is now very challenging.
It is ok to hate the man, it is ok to criticize the man, it is even fine to stone the man, but we must not allow the past to take away from the future. Obasanjo has done the right thing. He was very prudent during this speech and I think he nailed it (for a minute I thought Babangida was the one that made the speech).

Obasanjo has my kudos for the first time for making this courageous move at this time. Let us hope that this will rub off to other old thieves in our country.
more than 50% are frustrated that's why you should advise your masters to change before this country implodes (Liberia where are staying did not experience 25% of what nigerians are experiencing day in day out before they went to war)

I believe the poster is being economical with the truth.

now kids want their parents to accept wrong things because it is modern fashion, acceptable, etc.

how come the whole(or majority) women in the church are saying things about her? is she the only young BEAUTIFUL girl in the church.

michelin89:
4. They says she dates an older guy. But this guy went with his family to my cuz's mother for an official introduction. It's not like she is hiding it. The mother is aware of everything and supervises everything the girl does. But she has never really questioned her about her intentions in the relationship or else she'd know how serious minded and noble they are.
according to the poster everybody was saying she dates an older guy. here old may mean 35-45yrs or even 50, and the poster explained it off by saying an OFFICIAL INTRODUCTION had been made.

and you all assume they are just gossipping her because of HER BEAUTY. this is a common language among girls who feel they are beautiful, it gets into their head and whenever somebody tries to correct them they just claim the person is jealous if its a female or person hates them because they refused to date them if it happens to be a male.

just my personal opinion, please don't crucify me

1. My cousin is 16, a very delicate age for a girl.
A minor even in advanced countries

2. Her Church members (especially the women) have taken it upon themselves to look at everything she does as wrong and never done before. I have told her to stop confiding in those girls she sees in church because they are extremely bitter and useless. After pretending to help you, they'll go around gossiping about you.
Kudos to her, she must be very innovative (at her age she is trying to change church doctrine, she can do better by starting her own church it’s much more easier than you ever imagined)

3. They have been saying she is a wayward loose girl. But I can vouch she is a virgin and she intends to remain so until her wedding night. How can people be so jobless? It is so bad the poor girl can't even say hello to any guy. They'd assume she is sleeping with him.
4. They says she dates an older guy. But this guy went with his family to my cuz's mother for an official introduction. It's not like she is hiding it. Introduction at 16yrs !!!  Whatever happened to going to school and making a career (the independent woman)

5. She has never done anything that girls of her age don't do. She is adorable, sensitive and sweet. She doesn't deserve all that they are putting her through.
Both positive and negative

The last stroke of when at a part she was asked by someone to collect a bottle of Guinness. The moment they saw her with the drink, they started saying she was a drunkard. You may say I am paranoid but I believe they are trying to ruin her reputation. Maybe they are jealous because she is pretty, but the situation is so bad that even my mother who is my mum's best friends believes she is loose.
Guinness is for 18+ and there is nothing wrong with her taking it?

If I didn't know her to be a chronic liar, because she did the same thing to me, I'd believe it was true because that's what everyone is saying. You know if nobody stands to contest a lie, the moment is spreads it is taken for granted that it is true.

The Nigerian version is called scotch-egg (or scotched-egg whichever) Hardboiled egg and shelled egg wrapped in flour mixture and fried.

Note: some people normally add fresh egg in the flour and mixture together, so some buns may actually contain eggs as part of the ingredient (especially home made and on special order)
