GTBank is a customer-centric financial institution which listens more than it talks.

The customer is truly king and the bank takes its time to address every issue with its unique peculiarities. If you have any doubts and issues, always consult your account officer.

I believe every product has a market and while I can't speak for other financial institutions, I know so well that if what you want is customer service and a bank that will grow with you, then Guaranty Trust Bank is it.

I would say because of the general attitude in modern society of male dominance.
No matter how far we've come in that arena, the general attitude is still present in the social contract.
Many females are raised to accept that kind of thing from men.
That kind of upbringing and attitude is not a good thing, but its a man world.
But in an African context, the wifey is seen as the husbands property. He spent to marry by paying all the necessaries.

Remember he who pays the piper dictates the tune.

i know of one electrical engineer who bought this "running your personal business idea", he decided to go into IT business since it is a budding area in nigeria, registered and attended additional courses, hardware repairs, networking etc.  Registered and attended seminars on how to manage your business.  he then resigned from his job, relocated and started the business - Sales, Networking, Repairs, Training, Support, Business Services. He now met the realities on ground, 1. running the business requires constant power, no power he had to depend on generator and for a budding business running gen for like 10hrs he couldn't break even  2.  You need to be connected to really have the lucrative deals - he was thinking he had this until reality dawned on him, even after joining PDP no hope.

At the end of the day, Couldn't pay his workers, office rent, fuel the generator, etc. and had to close shop and take up a paid employment which he is still doing presently.

A business environment where even the multinational companies are finding it difficult to operate in, you think its easy?
Politics › Re: Why Is Nigeria So Difficult To Develop? by agitator: 10:08am On Dec 17, 2009
Kobojunkie:
Then, I have to say that seems one of the major issues with the Nigeria psyche. Why do we ASSUME that these inept individuals are CLUELESS? They travel abroad more than most Nigerians could ever dream of doing. They shop in developed countries, educate their ward in some of the most expensive schools out there. They ensure they do all they can to get as much as possible for themselves, and go as far as to arrange their kids be married off to individuals who they believe would ensure they are taken care of. Yet we somehow think they are the clueless one here?

Are you saying that CLUELESS individuals are the ones who do all that is possible to get as much as they can for THEMSELVES first ?
That's how young graduates think. How leaders are not educated enough so they don't know how to develop this country. The same leaders will build state of the art modern personal buildings, the former VP has an American standard private university (he was still clueless), Odili built a world class private hospital in SA (still clueless).

Kobojunkie:
No it is NOT! Nothing in Democracy states that the electorates HAVE TO trust their elected leaders. Democracy, by giving power to the people essentially gives the people the express right to call for removal of electorates NOT doing the job for which they were hired for.

Siphoning of public funds DOES NOT SHOW that they have no clue what they are supposed to do when in Power. You are trying to argue apples and nails here. It is possible to know the right thing to do but still CHOOSE to do wrong.

No. It does not show that. There are no indications that these men are blind in anyway. They do recognize the vast opportunities available to them and take advantage of it in the way they know to. Many of these individuals are business men, only they are mostly involved in businesses to make them QUICK money, just as many non-political Nigerians seem to be, as well.  It is obviously easier to make a million through corrupt means than to make the same amount by doing businesses. So why would you believe a person who chooses to get fast cash is blind and the one who chooses instead to invest in building a business, which would probably go burst before he even makes a penny, is not?
Please help me to enlighten these our people.
Drama as Emeka Ike emerges as new AGN president

A mild drama ensued on Monday at the secretariat of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, in Surulere area of Lagos, when embattled Segun Arinze’s attempt to halt the care-taker-committee of the guild from conducting a counter-election that produced actor Emeka Ike as the new president of the guild hit a brick wall.

Arinze last month was appointed to head the alleged government of national unity set up by the Ifeanyi Dike- led Board of Trustees of the guild, with Emeka Ike as his vice as a way of moving the troubled guild forward.

He allegedly stormed the guild’s secretariat with a team of policemen from Area D, Mushin, with an intention of stopping the election. However, he failed as the Kanayo O. Kanayo led- interim government, armed with a court order, refused to be intimidated as they went ahead to conduct the election.

In a court order dated 13th of June, 2009, and which was shown to the policemen that came with Arinze, the caretaker committee exercised the power confined on it to conduct a general election for the guild.

It would be recalled however that Mr. Arinze recently emerged president of the guild in a controversial election conducted by the erstwhile president of the guild, Ejike Asiegbu in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

He was disowned by the Lagos State chapter of the body, which described his election as a “sham”, labelling him a non-registered member of the chapter. Ike’s election is bound to trigger off another round of crisis within the guild.

Before the election, which was endorsed by all state chairmen and delegates of the guild, Emeka Ike had described Segun Arinze as a ‘joker’, adding that, “Segun is not AGN president and he cannot be one. Constitutionally, he is not eligible to be a president because I learnt he is not a degree holder and not even a card carrying member.
Just can't recall the movies with such scenes, so many of them. grin grin

The only Language Nigerians understand is go to school, get a job,get married and manufacture children if or if you don't have the means to carter for them (God will provide)
It is a crime not to be married in Nigeria not to talk of not having children. So every woman wants to be married and have children, they simple don't care how.
Thats the reason why.
Once a lady is above 30yrs, she becomes desperate and apprehensive with respect to marital issues. It's only few Nigerians ladies that have other life goals apart from Marriage. The rest, after school job or no job they want a man. After 40 yrs, any available male =husband.
They condition men at a younger age - bride price, owambe marriage and wedding party - if you try to reason with them they see you as stingy and not loving them enough. but at a later age that's when the desperation sets in.

make e no surprise you the guy never even marry any of them officially (traditionally, court or church). na just co-habiting

i don't bank with Zenith, but GTBank

It took three weeks to get just my savings account number which other banks will give to you immediately.

had to fill for ATM Card again on a separate form eventhough it was ticked on the original Account Opening Form.

Received text that ATM Card is ready but when i got their was told that there is bad network so i cannot have my ATM Card - had to abandon it for them.

When you want to deposit cash it's like they are doing you a big favour by taking your cash, noticed that some of the receiving cashiers had to count all the cash with them and arrange it, each time a different customer deposits, while others waiting to deposit.

It's a general nigerian attitude, inconvenienting people so that those who don't have the patience to wait will like to cut corners - by bribing them - use to see it i the public sector(public servants), now it's very common in the private sector too.

The list is long, but let me stop here.

And a trusted friend recommended this bank to me.

So if you 'control' your resources you'll become all of a sudden patriotic and dedicated? huh

Please let's stop chasing shadows - we don't earn nearly enough from oil and gas to do what Venezuela is doing, besides their system will crash sooner or later as over subsidised economies like that end up.
I think you are misunderstanding me, what i meant was that if we are patriotic to our country and dedicated to work, we can manage our refineries. This was in response to the issue of our inability to run the refineries.

debosky:
Corrupt Nigerians are by far the greatest problem. Oil production in Angola is dominated by Western Majors, yet with their ingenuity, they are building refineries and infrastructure at a massive rate due to their involvement of the Chinese. Nigeria is still fumbling in the dark about how to convert our resources into infrastructural development. Infrastructure is what we need, by using our oil revenue NOT some power crazed seizure of assets in an attempt to play saviour.
When you are patriotic and dedicated you will not be blinded by corruption and run down an establishment you are managing.

I have never supported the idea of seizure" if that happens where are we going to get the spare parts for replacement? Little knowledge i have about oil and gas machinery most of the machines are not compatible eg. if you buy a gas turbine from siemens, you can only get the parts from them and not another company. So, if we seize assets of foreign companies especially the europe/american, that will spell doom, which is what they are doing to Iran.

Alternatively you can decide to buy substandard equipment from china for trial and error, which in the end is more expensive, and will still lead to dependence.

our national oil company is USELESS and we CANNOT even run the refineries we have.

The refineries are 100% controlled by Nigeria so if that happened to oil producing assets, they would become comatose in no time as well.
bro, our problem is lack of dedication and patriotism. I have been working with construction companies and still working now. Most of the foreigners they bring in don't know anything, almost everything is done by nigerian engineers and technicians - apart from the actually design which is done outside the country - the builing/fabrication/construction part is done by nigerians. The foreigners are just supervisors to make sure the job is done, most of them can't even read, interpret drawings. Almost everything reading fabrication and construction is done by nigerians including CAD versions of "AS BUILT" is done by nigerians.

We have talented and knowledgeable nigerians, just the absense of dedication and get rich quick attitude. Give these same guys a company to manage they will run it aground, while living large.

The main problem here is that, they seem to recycle themselves, nothing new, its like reading the “Mills and Boon” novels, within a period of 12 months I went through almost 80 to 100 books all ended the same way, the usual suspects dies! The same about Nollywood as an industry, no one is prepared to push the boat out, push the boundaries, new ideas. It’s bad enough them churning out hundreds and hundreds of home movies every year, what “we” the viewers are waiting for is a BLOCKBUSTER from Nollywood. The actors and actresses act the same way, speak the same way, look the same way, I can’t remember her name, actually I don’t now know her name! but she acted in 2 different movies, one as a rich mans daughter, the other as a poor mans wife! The 2 roles require 2 different characters but hey as expected she spoke the same way, with the same attitude for both roles…. And people would say we shouldn’t criticise them! Nollywood is an industry that refuses to grow in quality, why? Typical Nigerian thinking “enough is good enough”

Look at TSOTSI won an Oscar award, grossed nearly $10m, this a South African movie, well thought of the script was well written and professionally shot, it’s a movie that had everything and was I proud that it won the best foreign language film at the Oscars… Wesley Snipes and other Hollywood stars realised that theirs an untapped gold mine within Nollywood or filming in Nigeria but it seems like that boat has sailed, agree there are loads of movies to be shot in Africa but using actors / actresses from Nollywood or Gollywood seems to be a distance memory unless if they have shown in the past that they could handle such role, but looking most Nollywood stars CV, though its long but not impressive. You imagine someone asks a Nollywood actor to act in a movie and his role is to act as a Jamaican, this means you would have to enter the world of a Jamaican behave like one and speak like one? No Chance…

"If we do what we've always done, we'll get what we always got."
you just said it all.  Nigerian mentality once they start making money from any venture no need for improvement.  Even in goods production, instead the quality will be deteriorating .
