I went to Sweden as an international M.Sc student. A lot of master's courses in Sweden are taught in English because, despite the fact that Swedish is their national language, they speak very good English. Ranked 3rd best in the world behind Britain, and Netherlands.
Just as many suggested before, my classmates/lecturers were surprised that someone from Nigeria could speak English not to talk of fluently. This perception is mostly because East Africans (Somali, Ethiopia, Eritrea,Kenya and Uganda), who came here as refugees, dominate the African image in Sweden. Aswear, even we
from Naija wey no too sabi English dey struggle to understand them, not to talk of Onyinbo.

That said, Swedish people are easygoing, socially withdrawn and taciturn in nature. So they don't even give a damn about you as an immigrant. While you revel in the total freedom and personal dignity you are accorded here including their law enforcement, be rest assured that you could live here for a decade without making friends with a single native despite your proficiency in Swedish language.

In conclusion, I don't want to rule out the fact that there are still some latent "microaggressions" (look for the meaning) which one can observe if they're the kinda people that pay attention to those. Which I don't have time for. E.g when you ask me did you say you're from (Niggar-ria) when I just told you Nigeria (Nai-ji-ria)

Because if you have said a home return is out of the question, then start giving yourself a stronger base over there, you can always get a land when you are properly situated...

I have a couple of questions for you;

1-How good is your German on a scale of 1-10?
2- would you like to stay long term in Germany?

I asked you those questions because if your answer to question(2) is yes, then you need to heavily and I mean "heavily" work on your German language skills, the moment you can rate yourself a 7 out of 10, you would not need IT skills/certifications to land your self a job in Germany... getting a job in Germany quickly, to a large extent depends on your German language skills. Infact once you have a German diploma and can speak German proficiently, you may not even need that extra 18 months, because you would most likely find a job before the expiration of your student Aufenthaltstitel.

Take note job hunting as a German diploma holder and German speaker, is not limited to Germany alone... Austria is well in the hoop too!

Switzerland too. Even though they're not in the EU, they have lots of jobs for German speakers.
